ID 1008 DFSR missing.

Hi,
First, sorry for my english ... not a native one ...
We got 25 2012 Server wich all got the same issue
DFSR is not closing properly :
- When the server restart we do get the 1006 ID telling us "okay i'm closing it" expecting a 1008 ID saying "it's closed" wich never come ...when we manually close/restart de DFS services we do get the 1008 ID but not when the server
restart/shutdown ...
probleme is it sometime cause a "dirty shutdown" issue.
we tried to manipulate the "WaitToKillServiceTimeout" wich doesn't look like working even when put to "300000" i saw an hotfixe for 2008 /2008 R2 server but nothing about 2012 so i'm kinda lost right now ...
regards.

Hi,
If there any event log related to DFS after the Event ID 1006 occurs? With current information we may not able to determine the exact cause.
According to my search result, reset DFSR database (to redo an initial replication) will help on this issue. It will take some time and you will need to wait for the initial replication to be finished. Find one of the server (named ServerX below) which has
the most updated files and perform following steps:
1.       Stop and ALSO disable the DFSR service on <ServerX> server (don't just simply stop it)
2.       In Windows Explorer open the specific drive
3.       Right click on the "System Volume Information" directory and select Properties\Security
Note: You might need to select the option for "Show hidden files, folders or drives" and also uncheck "Hide protected operating system files" in the folders view options to be able to even see the "System Volume Information" directory.
4.       Grant your user account that you're logged in with (if a member of Administrators group this will also suffice) "Full Control" to the "System Volume Information" directory.
Note: You may get an error on setting security on some files - this is expected.
5.       Open an elevated/Administrative command prompt. Switch to the "<drive letter>:\System Volume Information" directory
6.       Type the command "rmdir DFSR /s"
7.       Enable and re-start the DFSR service on <ServerX> server
8.       We will then set the <ServerX> server as the Primary member with dfsradmin.exe utility –
Dfsradmin Membership Set /RGName:<RG Name> /RFName:<RF Name> /MemName:<Member Name> /IsPrimary:True
Note: Files will be replicated from ServerX to all other targets. So if there is any newer file on other target servers, backup before starting replication.

  • DFSR files missing

    Hello,
i've a 2 dfsr servers. the serve as file servers.
They are not yet in production.
The second server is kind of a backup (i know it's not the way it's supposded to be used ... )
I have overs 5 millions files. Approxiamtively 300 files are missing on server B ! it'not much but i dont understand why...
everything seem to work fine. When i create for example a thousand files on server A they are correctly copied on server B ... no files in the backlog
I found one file, and decided to copy it on server B. For test purpose, i delete this file from A and it wasent deleted on B ...
Is theire a way fo force these 300 files to cpy on B using DFSR and not using a manual operation ?
is there a particular reason why this files are not copied ? (FYI i removed default extension from exculsion )

With that many files, there is probably a large backlog which is causing replication delays.
    Try this command:
    dfsrdiag backlog /rgname:inetpub /rfname:inetpub /sendingmember:server
rgname =  name of replication group, can be checked in dfs management
rfname = name of replicated folder, can be checked in dfs management
sending member = the other server

  • DFSR Reporting " not working correctly

I'm trying to get the following script to work, posted questions at the site but not sure if he is viewing the blog anymore.

Couple of things is not working with Powershell reporting of DFSR, (works in batch file)
    1) The DFSAdmin.exe reports "/Rgname:Domain is not a valid subobject" as I am trying to report on "Domain System Volume".   It doesn't like the " and doesn't like spaces!
    DfsrAdmin.exe Health New /RgName:`"Domain System Volume`" /RefMemName:$ReferralDC /RepName:$ReportFilePath /FsCount:true
Tried to use variable name instead but same result
    $Rgname = "`"Domain System Volume`""
    DfsrAdmin.exe Health New /RgName:$Rgname /RefMemName:$ReferralDC /RepName:$ReportFilePath /FsCount:true
    2) parsing of report file name doesn't work either, I get "Send-MailMessage : Thew device is not ready.
If I do echo ($ReportFilePath+".html"), the result is correct as I replace the variable with result of the echo and it works!
    $ReportFilePath = "d:\Reporting\Reports\Health-report-"+(Get-Date -UFormat %Y-%m-%d)
Send-MailMessage -From $EmailFrom -To $EmailTo -SmtpServer $SmtpServer -Subject $EmailSub -Body "The DFS-R Health Report is attched to this e-mail" -Attachments
    ($ReportFilePath+".html")
The is all on Windows 2008 R2

    I've replaced dfsradmin.exe with showargs.exe in a home lab.....
I get the following result, (missing first ")
    $Rgname = "Domain System Volume"
    /RgName:Domain System Volume"
Changing the variable to following doesn't work either: (add a double quote)
    $Rgname = "`"Domain System Volume"
Re-ran showargs.exe and display is correct but fails with dfsradmin.exe
    Showargs.exe shows:     "/RgName:"Domain System Volume"
DFSRadmin.exe still error out:   The subobject "/RgName:"Domain is not a valid subobject.

  • 6500s missing Module Information

Running LMS 3.2 on a Windows 2003 box. I've noticed in trying to run a report on various module types that the 6500s are missing descriptive module information. For example, the below is a copy of the Module information section on the Detailed Device Report which is missing the serial number information.
I've checked this across several 6500s and the same behavior appears across almost all of them. Any ideas on what's going on here?

Can any one please provide me the solution soon. How to send the screen 1005 from development system to quality and production system.
    Appreciate for the quick responce.
    Regards,
    Koti Reddy

    Hi,
I think this a serious problem and you need to take it up with a Basis consultant.
Tell me one thing... Has anybody been playing around this program or screen. If not i am not sure why this has happened since you are mentioning that it is a standard program..
There is also a possiblity that this screen might be a part of an enhancement and you have forgotten to check it.....
I think it is better if you check the Object directory entry of this screen and check who has created it. If someone from your company/team has created it that means even you will be allowed to make a change and transport the screen.
Please revert if any doubts arise

    Pramod

  • Edit OM infotype 1008 (Acct. Assignment Features)

    Hi,
I have added  OM IT 1008 to PPOME.
But somehow, the option to edit, create , delete it, is missing in PPOME.
do you know how to fix this?
    Regards
    KP

    Dear KP,
You can use the T-Code PO13 to maintain the infotype 1008 i.e. account assignment features.

  • Apache POI  -  xssf und ss missing from package

    Hi Everybody,
I have downloaded the Apache POI 3.2 from http://www.apache.org/dyn/closer.cgi/poi/release/ (mid5 checksum says download is complete) and then placed the jars in my classpath variable (under win XP). Then I have tried to run a demo program provided on the apache poi website. The demo program starts as follows:
    package org.apache.poi.ss.examples;
    import org.apache.poi.xssf.usermodel.*;
    import org.apache.poi.ss.usermodel.*;
    import org.apache.poi.hssf.usermodel.HSSFWorkbook;
But Anytime i compile the program I get the message that the "package org.apache.poi.xssf.usermodel.*; does not exist". And also same message for the package "import org.apache.poi.ss.usermodel.*;". And when I have a look into the POI jar files (using winzip) I can see that there are no folder named xssf. In the folder ss there is no subfolder usermodel!!! Does it mean that they are missing from the package? Has anybody already met this problem? Or am I just a silly very beginner :)?
Would be happy if somebody helps me.
    Bye

    Hi Keith,
thanks for your answer. I provide you herewith the information you requested
1- I think I have download the right jars. I went to http://apache.atviraskodas.com/poi/release/bin/ and then download the zip file
2-Now ihave used the -cp option as follows:
    javac -cp c:\pathtothedownloadedjars\poi-3.2-FINAL-20081019.jar;c:\pathtothedownloadedjars\poi-contrib-3.2-FINAL-20081019.jar;c:\pathtothedownloadedjars\poi-scratchpad-3.2-FINAL-20081019.jar;c:\pathtothedownloadedjars\commons-logging-1.1.jar;c:\pathtothedownloadedjars\junit-3.8.1.jar;c:\pathtothedownloadedjars\log4j-1.2.13.jar
    BusinessPlan.java
But I still have the error message
3- here is the dir listing of the jar files

  • Apps cannot be installed because of missing signature (non-jailbroken iPhon

I was working on my iPhone 4 with iOS 4.2 (the last one) for a while, when I called my phone operator to unlock the simlock. I followed the procedure, and I saved of my iPhone with iTunes, then restored it, then restored the backup with iTunes (last version). I didn't do anything special but followed the path given by iTunes on a reset / restore procedure.
After the restore procedure, some apps that I have been using for months did not get installed. According to iTunes the two reasons are:
    * Missing signature,
    * or Resources modified.
This also happens with newly downloaded applications after the reset.
My iPhone is not (and wasn't) jailbroken, I never used anything else than iTunes to sync, and I don't understand what happened.
How may I solve this problem, without loosing datas, apps, music or photo libraries, or need to reinstall everything from scratch app per app ?
    Some additional notes:
    * Any app that I download now that doesn't want to install from iTunes, can be correctly installed when downloaded directly on the iPhone. And no sync problems with iTunes.
    * Even updating a working and installed app can cause the problem.
    * New error with an app download from iTunes : "Unknown error 0xE800000B"

I don't know why, but soon after posting this, I found a solution to the problem. The WMI part was solved in this thread:
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/windowsserver/en-US/953be9ef-e9e3-4885-a5c4-47fc475ba562/dfs-is-not-working-anymore?forum=winserverfiles
    The relevant portion is this:
Open a CMD prompt in %windir%\system32\wbem
    mofcomp dfsrprovs.mof
    net stop winmgmt
    net start winmgmt
    net start iphlpsvc
    net stop dfsr
    net start dfsr
I don't know why recompiling of all mof did not solve the problem, but the solution above did. Restarting the DCs solved the communication issue. I don't know why the primary DC forgot about the WMI DFS provider or why communication failed. However, it is
    working again, it seems.

  • Missing Default Domain policy

    Hi Experts,
i have strange issue, users are unable get the policy applied after investigating found out that the default domain policy is missing on dcs in one site, i have checked further for any events relation to journal wrapping to no avail,  client pcs recwiving
    this error below:
The processing of Group Policy failed. Windows attempted to read the file \\mydomain\SysVol\my
    domain.local\Policies\
strange thing is that the replication is working, but only the sysvol replication not working, can someone please advice
    OS: Windows 2012 R2

    > The processing of Group Policy failed. Windows attempted to read the
    > file \\mydomain\SysVol\my
    > domain.local\Policies\
Replication via DFSR or FRS? Check both eventlogs then follow the action
    in the events :)

  • DFSR Failover for 2 VM File Servers

    Current Setup:
    2 VM Windows 2012 R2 Servers: File01 and File02 (File01 is set as Primary)
    DFSR setup between the 2
How can I configure the 2 DFS servers HA even though they are VMs on a FA cluster? If File01 goes down I need my users to still be able to access the namespace, failover to File02. File01 comes online, File02 replicates the changes to File01.
I assumed having DFSR configured between the 2 would resolve that issue but I missed something because I shutdown File01 to test to see if it will switch over to File02 but did not work.
Any suggestions would greatly be appreciated. I know I am on the right track but I am missing something here.

    Hi,
There will be a cache when client is firstly connected to one of your file server. This is for preventing client keep sending requests to DC.
So failover will not occur immediately. You can change the duration time shorter in DFS management but it will still fail for a while since failover happens.
If you have any feedback on our support, please send to [email protected]

  • DFSR replicaion problem between domain controllers

I have 2 domain controllers running server 2012 and recently noticed a lot of errors about replication between 2 of them
i demoted child controller and promoted it again for DC and issue still occurs
so far i noticed that when browsing network and looking for shares on main DC i can see SYSVOL folder there
but it is missing on the other one - it is present in c \ windows but not visible in shares \
also domain folder is empty on the child DC
when i run dfsrmngr and run the diagnostic it doesn't show errors in status also it says that it is enabled
also when trying to manualy create pair of folders to replicate the contents it says at one of the steps it is already used ....what would be the best
thing to do at this point o have replication issue solved ?

  • SceCli 1202 0x534 events...but accounts not resolving to SIDs aren't missing/mistyped!

I have two DCs in a small WS2012R2 AD setup. My DCs are throwing event 1202s (lots of them), complaining that during GPO processing some accounts aren't resolving to SIDs.
When I issue a "FIND /I "Cannot find" %SYSTEMROOT%\Security\Logs\winlogon.log" message (after enabling that log via registry) and investigate which accounts aren't resolving, the users in question are not "missing accounts"
or "mistyped" as all of the troubleshooting docs I've seen suggest. Rather, the accounts in question are central, primary accounts that emphatically DO exist:

Clearly, all of those accounts do exist. There are no apparent problems with AD replication, DNS, and I am confident that the GPOs that are set up are proper, and aren't doing much at all: I've got a policy enabling local admins, another specifying updates
    behavior, etc. Nothing weird.
Clearly there is a real problem, but it's confusing and I could use some guidance.

    Update:
When reviewing GPOs for possible issues, I'm experiencing something I've not seen before: selecting domain user groups for inclusion in a GPO, I get the message "specified domain either does not exist or could not be contacted."
This is occurring on the primary DC itself.
SYSVOL and NETLOGON both exist as shares from both DCs.
I am pasting dcdiag /c /v /test:dns /dnsall below. Note that the DFSR issue noted by dcidag is from an earlier reboot, and shouldn't be an issue. There is the obviously concerning "The system cannot find the file specified." in the "Query
Trusted Domain" test. There is also a " Root zone on this DC/DNS server was not found" that is obviously an issue. Need assistance in remedying, clearly. Beating head against wall.

created a namespace, added a folder, configured full mesh replication between 4 members, everything seemed to work fine (data started replicating to all other members when added to any of them, etc.). Left them for initial replication over our slow link.
Tonight Windows backup process ran and backed up all the data. DFS process stopped while the backup was running (that's what event viewer shows). After it started again, all the data that wasn't already replicated to other member servers is missing from
    the "primary" one...
Now whenever i restore that missing data to the original folder, dfs starts syncing and removes it again.. The only way to restart the whole thing is to disable replication to all folders, wipe them, wait for such changes to apply, etc.
The server i'm adding data to is Server 2008 R2, other DFS members are Server 2012 R2.
Why is this happening and how do i fix it?...
    Thanks!

    Hi,
From the behavior, the initial replication is affected before finishing and now it consider the "not-copied data" is "pre-existing data" so it removed them from DFSR folder for avoiding confliction.
In current situation, you should pre-seeding the replication data instead of waiting DFSR for finishing it. Enable DFSR later once your pre-seeding job finished.
To do a pre-seeding, you can use Robocopy to copy files/folders with NTFS permissions to your other 3 servers.

  • DFSR Question about the DFSRPrivate folder

Hello all and thanks in advance for any info you may provide.
I am using DFSR for first time and I face an issue with the replicated data and the source data. I want to clarify that I am using DFSR only to migrate data to a new file server and after the replication is completed I will decommission the olf File
    Server.
My problem is that when I go to check the source and the destination data, they don't have the same size (which is expected, as I thought that some files, if they are opened or in use, they cannot be replicated). Well, it seems that this is not true,
because I checked it in a test environment. So, after I tested it and I saw that everything is replicated, even the opened files, I was wondering why the source and the destination data are not the same. I believe that there's not any problem if
I miss 500-600 files, because these files may be temp files, or bak files. When I run the report, I see that the files that are not replicated are basicaly pdf, docx, xlsx files. So, why these files are not replicated?
A colleague explained me that the difference between the source and destination data occurs because I have left the DFSRPrivate folder which contains the staging folder in its original location in the replicated folder. He advices me to change this, which
is a huge workload for me now. My question is, does my colleague have right? Shall I change it? If you leave the staging folder to its original place, will this cause any trouble?
    Thank you all!

I would not move the staging folder.  I have NEVER seen a Microsoft document that recommends that, for any reason.
Have you checked the DFS Replication logs in Event Viewer (under applications and services logs)?  Do you see a lot of 4304s?  That may be the reason that the pdf, docx and xlsx files aren't getting replicated, they may be in use. (the same file
    on more than one server)
How is replication progressing?  Is there a backlog?  There is some information in this article on using the backlog command:  http://blogs.technet.com/b/askds/archive/2007/10/05/top-10-common-causes-of-slow-replication-with-dfsr.aspx
Also, to check what state the replication process is in, use this command:
wmic /namespace:\\root\microsoftdfs path DfsrReplicatedFolderInfo get replicatedFolderName, State
    0: Uninitialized
    1: Initialized
    2: Initial Sync
    3: Auto Recovery
    4: Normal
    5: In Error
