IDisk Backup How-to

I am trying to perform a backup of my hard drive in praparation for sending my Macbook to Apple for repair. I launch iDisk, choose my primary hard drive, and choose 'New Image'. Once I create a name and select a location for the backup file, the backup seems to start and then I get a 'Resource busy' message. Have you seen this before? How can I successfully backup my Mac?

Hi David, and a warm welcome to the forums!
First, let me say that I do not have iDisk, so no expert here.
Depending on Size, it might take days to back up your whole HD that way, a better idea is to an External Firewire drive, then get an exact bootable copy of your old drive to the new one is with Carbon Copy Cloner...

How big is the Disk you're trying to backup?
I'm thinking that the busy signal you're getting is from trying to backup OS items that are in use... nit certain though.
I'm thinking that iDisk is just meant to backup the more important Folders or Files, like maybe your User's folder.

Pls treat it urgent. If it's urgent , open a priority 1 service request on My Oracle Support/metalink.
If it's not so urgent, set the datafiles to OFFLINE, so you can open the database.
Without backup you only can recover if you have ALL archivelogs since creation of the files. Normally that's rarely the case.

There is no password for connecting a mouse. There's passwords for logging in. Perhaps passwords from waking from sleep or screen saver.
Perhaps you mean how do you pair it to your machine. If it works as it should go into your mouse system preferences and click the "Set up bluetooth mouse" button.

You can recover Your music but not with original names.
1. Go to Your iPod hard disk
2. You must to see hidden files (if you don't see them go to in system explorer to Tools > Folder Options > View > and mark Show Hidden Files)
3. Go to folder named iPod_Control
4. Copy folder Music - this is Your music but not with originally names

Connect your external drive and allow the backup to run, and the "snapshots" will be removed.

There is no way to reset. Once you have forgotten the password for the backup, you can no longer use that backup. You will need to delete that backup and remove the checkmark by Encrypt backup so you would be able to use backups again.

How to uninstall .Mac paraphanalia (idisk, backup, etc)

I wasnt sure where to post this so forgive me if its in the wrong place. When I first got my computer a year and a half ago, I got .Mac also. My membership expired, and I dont want to renew. However, the idisk icon is still always on my desktop. I want to free up some space and get rid of all the programs and applications affiliated with .Mac such as idisk and backup. How can I do this?

Select the iDisk icon, right or CTRL-click and select Eject from the contextual menu. If it's also listed in the Finder's sidebar then open Finder preferences, click on the Sidebar icon in the toolbar and uncheck the iDisk item.
The .Mac/MobileMe is controlled via System Preferences so there isn't anything to delete. If you have the Backup application it would be in your Applications folder. Just drag it to the Trash and empty.
