Idoc data in flat file structure

Dear Experts,
We have  idoc data in flat file structure. We need to fetch it using ftp and map it to an idoc.
please tell me how to proceed .
Thanks,
Aju

Hi,
For flat file you need to use the File content conversion parameters.
Refer the blog,
SAP Network Blog: How to process flat files with multiple documents like POs, SOs etc. in a File to IDoc scenario

  • IDOC --- XI -- HTTP (via a flat file structure, not XML)

I am working on a senario in which we need to send a third party payroll service provider our HR Master Data records (Message type HROT_UM).  The manual method is to create a flat file from an IDOC and place the file in a shared directory, then upload the flat file by logging on to the web server.  We would like to automate this process using XI.
Is it possible to send a flat file structure to a webserver using a HTTP receiver adapter?  If not, can you provide a basic view of how to accomplish this task.  Please note that FTP is not an option for us.
Any suggestions or recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

    hey
flat file over HTTP is not possible,it takes only XML.
have a look at the following thread

  • Creating JCo IDoc from flat file structure

    Hi,
I need to send an IDoc into SAP using JCo.
The input to my program is a string containing lines representing a flat file idoc, e.g.
    Line 1="EDI_DC40                           2   ORDERS04.."
    Line 2="E1EDK01                                          00000100000001    USD..."
    Line 3="E1EDK14                                          0000030000000...."
Is there a simple way to use JCo to create & send the IDoc?
    i.e.
    1) If I use JCo and RFC IDOC_INBOUND_ASYNCHRONOUS, what would be all the steps/calls to SAP (create TID, call IDOC_INBOUND_ASYNCHRONOUS, confirm TID..?)
And can IDOC_INBOUND_ASYNCHRONOUS be called using the flat file structures (without having to map to all the JCo ParameterList fields)?  Since the flat file structures are  in the format required by the RFC, just in one long string.
    Line 1=>IDOC_CONTROL_REC_40
    Lines 2..n=>IDOC_DATA_REC_40
    2) Similarly, if I were to use JCo plus the JCO IDoc library, is there a way to pass the flat file structures without having to do all the mapping to segment fields?
    3) Other options..?
I want to use ALE to SAP, not files, even though the input is in the flat file structure.

Your reply gives a link to the general JCo documentation.
It doesn't give ideas on how to call an RFC or IDoc from JCO without mapping each and every field from a flat file structure.
I'm looking for a way to do something like this:
    Function IDOC_INBOUND_ASYNCHRONOUS has table parameters
          IDOC_CONTROL_REC_40 STRUCTURE  EDI_DC40
          IDOC_DATA_REC_40 STRUCTURE  EDI_DD40
Since I have the flat file representation of the IDoc, the first line should overlay exactly onto the EDI_DC40 structure.  And the subsequent lines should overlay onto EDI_DD40.  (all fields in this RFC are strings)
However JCO and JCO IDoc library seem very strongly typed, so it looks like I would have to map each field from the flat file structure to a field in the JCO Function or JCO IDoc object.
This could be done in a generic way using the function/idoc metadata, however there would still be some overhead.
Is there a way to get round this, and build the function/idoc treating its parameters as one long string?

  • What are the advantages of idoc compare to flat file. how data is secure

what are the advantages of idoc compare to flat file. how data is secure in idocs compare to flat file

    Hi Ramana,
In simple words, Main advantage with idoc over flat file is security....
I will explain you some scenario here U got a flat file with all the data...Now u r having the flat file if you want u can modify the data in it, or somehow any one can modify the data in it  if they were able to access this file. That means u maintained the file in the presentation server
One level of higher security to the above level is maintaining the flat file in application server, at point also even though lot of people r not having the access to that file, super user who is  having  the access may modify the data or delete the data from it rite....
so in both of those levels u don't have 100% security...
So there come to the picture of idocs, Idocs simply data carriers, those r generated by a program but not manually...data will be divided into number of segments based upon ur program. So manually its not so easy to modify the data in these idocs. If any changes to be made in the data then u have to modify the data in the application and then u have to update the idoc or you have to generate the new idoc with that corresponding data. so in this case not even super user can manipulate the data directly in the idoc....
I think u got my point what I mean to say.....
If you find it useful mark the points

  • Multiple idocs from single flat file

    Hi All
I want to send data from a flat file to SAP(file to idoc)
    My flat file structure is
    id,name,number,city
    2,R1,234,SD
    2,R2,457,MD
    3,R4,789,HG
    3,R6,235.HG
The Field 'id' will change..after  every change in 'id' ,seperate idoc should be created.
I have checked the following thread.
Re: Content conversion for seperate idoc
In the above thread ,it is asked to map v.no with remove context and use SPLIT BY VALUE on value change then do the mapping accordingly ,you can create 3 idocs for the same.
I'm confused about how to do these mappings.
Please explain the mapping in detail.
    Please help
    Regards
    Reema

if  your source data type is like
    MT_Source
        Record           0-unbounded
           id                    ----1
           name              -----1
           number           -----1
           city               -------1
then in the sender file communication channel you have to specify  file content conversion parameters as
    Parameter name               parametervalue
    Document Name                 MT_Source
    Recordset Structure           Record,*
choose + to add more parameters
    Name                                  Value
    Record.fieldSeparator                      ,
    Record.fieldNames                        id,name,number,city
    Record.endSeparator                      'nl'
    then do the maping
    as
    id ---->removeContext---->SplitByValue(Value change)---->Target Idoc
map according to your requirement for other fields

  • How to Create Hierarchy From Flat file Structure

    Hi Gurus,
There is a scenario for me regarding the Hierarchy.
Required Hierarchy structure - Region>Director>Manager-->Sales id
I have flat file which gives the info like user id , sales id , manager id, director id.
But the transaction data Flat file has structure with sales id, region id, sales amt, sales qty.
Note : Region id is another Master Data.
How i can create hierarchy from the first flat file which doesnot have region info in that but it is available in the transaction data Flat file.
Is there anyway we can create hierarchy based on the first Flat file structure which contains more that 1,00,000 records.
Try to Suggest me in this regard .
    This is urgent.
    Regards,
    Mano

    Hi Mano,
Defining the source system from which to load data
Choose the source system tree File  ® Create.
           2.      Defining the InfoSource for which you want to load data
Optional: choose InfoSource Tree ® Root (InfoSources) ® Create Application Components.
Choose InfoSource Tree ® Your Application Component ® Other Functions  ® Create InfoSource 3.x ® Direct Update.
Choose an InfoObject from the proposal list, and specify a name and a description.
           3.      Assigning the source system to the InfoSource
Choose InfoSource Tree ® Your Application Component ® Your InfoSource ® Assign Source System. The transfer structure maintenance screen appears.
The system automatically generates DataSources for the three different data types to which you can load data.
    ○       Attributes
    ○       Texts
    ○       Hierarchies (if the InfoObject has access to hierarchies)
The system automatically generates the transfer structure, the transfer rules, and the communication structure (for attributes and texts).
           4.      Maintaining the transfer structure / transfer rules
Select the DataSource for uploading hierarchies.
IDoc transfer method: The system automatically generates a proposal for the DataSource and the transfer structure. This consists of an entry for the InfoObject for which hierarchies are loaded. With this transfer method, the structure is converted to the structure of the PSA during loading, which affects performance.
PSA transfer method: The transfer methods and the communication structure are also generated here.
           5.      Maintaining the hierarchy
Choose Hierarchy Maintenance, and specify a technical name and a description of the hierarchy
    Hope this helps

  • IDoc as a flat file...

I want to read a flat file that is an IDoc and post it as a XML after necessary conversion...So i wanted to know what are the feasible ways to read the flat file thats an IDoc?

Your flat file is of fixed lenght format or tab delimited I believe. Get the flat file data into an internal table. Study the IDOC structure in transaction WE30. & according populate the idoc segemnts from the internal table value..
For ABAP to XML conversion..Create XSLT & the extraction program..
    Create XSLT:
In transaction SE80 browse menu Workbench -> Edit Object. In the popup window enter XSLT Program name (e.g. ZXSLT) and click on create button.
Enter the following code into the editor..
    <xsl:transform version="1.0" xmlns:xsl="http://www.w3.org/1999/XSL/Transform" >
    <!xsl:output encoding="utf-8" indent="yes"/>

ctnhsappdata\iface\SCPI063\Out folder for each SNP InfoProvider.
1.b)  All fields in each InfoProvider should be exported and included in the flat file.
1.c)  A process chain should be created for each InfoProvider with a start event.
1.d)  If the file exists on the target drive it should be overwritten.
1.e)  The exported data file name should include the InfoProvider technical name.
1.f)  Include APO Planning Version, Date of Planning Run, APO Location, Calendar Year/Month, Material and BW Plant as selection criteria.

Here's some info on working with plists:
    http://developer.apple.com/documentation/Cocoa/Conceptual/PropertyLists/Introduc tion/chapter1_section1.html
They can be edited with any text editor. Xcode provides a graphical editor for them - make sure to use the .plist extension so Xcode will recognize it.

Can you please let me know more about <b>loading transaction data (sales order, purchase order, etc.,) from external systems into order based SNP objects/structure</b>. there is a 3rd party tool called webconnect that gets data from external systems and can give data in flat file or in database tables what ever required format we want.
I know we can use BAPI's, but dont know how. can you please send any <b>sample ABAP program code that calls BAPI to read flat file and write to SNP order series objects</b>.
Please let me know ASAP, how to get data from flat file into SNP order based objects, with options and I will be very grateful.

  • Facing Problem in IDOC to EDI FLAT File Scenario

    Hi,
I am working on a scenario IDOC to EDI FLAT File. For this I have used ABAP mapping.
The problem i am facing is that the EDI FILE contains the segment name as E1EDK01 for eg. while I need the name as per the latest segment definiton released. I have also tried this using File port and it gives the required segment names in file.  But we dont have to use File ports. Please suggest me if something is missing in PI Abap stack ?? Why I am not getting the segments name as per latest segment definition mainatined in R3.
    Thanks
    Neha

    Hi Neha,
Please check the segment name in sxmb_moni. Is this showing new value or the old value?
If SXMB_MONI shows old value then the source SAP (R/3) system which is sending the idoc may not have released the segment after changing the name. You need to ensure that the idoc segment has been released properly. Then re-import the iodc into PI server again. Finally delete entry of the iodc structure in idx2 transaction, no need to re-import the idoc structute again in idx2, since once you run the scenario the metadata automatically gets imported.

    Hallo,
    just for information.
    I had the same problem.
Have changed the field type from CURR to DEC and have set external instead of internal.
Then, the import with flatfile worked fine.
