Idoc file to create master data in APO

Hi Experts,
I will be getting an idoc file let say zmatmas02 its extended idoc type with extended segments
i need to upload this file into an APO system
can i use the program RSEINB00 to upload the idoc file , if so what are the steps i need to do,
or do i need to write a custom program with bapi BAPI_PRDSRVAPS_SAVEMULTI2 that can upload the data to material master .
I would like to know how to read the idoc file and split and post to the above bapi is my question.
can you pls give me a sample program in both cases .

Hello,
BOM means BIll of Materials you should create materials first and then you have to create BOM where for a finished material you will have set of semi finished or Raw materials as components.
Example: If you are material of finished is CAR then you will have different components for the same like Engine,Tyers etc.
Means your Header material is CAR and component materials are Engine.
Below are the transactions for creation of the same.
Step 1: Material Master
Logistics > Production > Master Data > Material Master > Material > Create General > Immediately MM01
Step 2: BOM creation
Logistics > Production > Master Data > Bills of Material > Bills of Material > Material BOM > Create CS01
Step 3: Work Center creation
Logistics > Production > Master Data > Work Center > ( New Screen ) Work Center > Create CR01
Step 4: Route creation
Logistics > Production > Master Data > Routings > Routings > Routing > Create CA01
For Routing you need to have a work center defined as Routing is set of operations that you perform on the material to obtain the finished material.

Hello,
I have some helpful information.
The program that creates the IDOC is RPCOTM** where ** is your country version.
The results of the OTSEL feature are checked in RPCOMF** and then the routine FILL_DATES(RPCOTFX0) is called to write the IDOC.
Debugging in this area will tell you...
1. Is the OTSEL value for IT0041 set
2. Was there a change in the dates for your period
3. What is being written to the IDOC

Master Data in APO

Hi All
In APO , How we bring master data into APO from ECC ?
How about delta synchronisation ?
what are the prerequisite to this activity?
Hope you might bring from only ECC or external system?
Can APO talk to external system other than ECC ?
are you storing any source of supply info in APO like contract, infor record , SA ?
Are always pointing to ECC system only for all source of supply reference from ECC ?

In APO , How we bring master data into APO from ECC ?
You do this through CIF, this is path for data transfering from ECC > to APO or APO>ECC
How about delta synchronisation ?
This is the change transfer, if any change is made in the datas in ECC you need to transfer those change to APO. You can make it as immediate or periodic.

which activity? delta transfer?.. you need to have the Open CIF and you have your datas in APO.

You can. From external sys too. you need different interface or you can upload data from external server or local file tghrough custom transaction.

Creating Master Data Centrally Using Guided Procedures

Is it possible to create master data centrally using GP say for example creating Material master data without using MDM? Is there a stand out of box delivered scenario exist without MDM. I did see the article Create Master Data Centrally Using Guided Procedures but it uses MDM.
Any help appreciated.

However, where will i get the deployable files that it selects in the Import GP/CAF contents step of the demo? those are the webdynpro components files. One is SCA and other is SDA. Where will i get them?

Points to remember while creating master data

Hi Gurus,
My client is using QM but inspection set up is not done.In material master check box for post to inspection stock is activated.Now they want to go for inspection set up in material master & using inspection types.In such case what care should be taken while creating master data. Because inspection stock will be already available while doing inspection set up & they have some batches in inspection stock which are created in year 2006- 2007.What care to be taken if we use mass processing(QA08) so that all batches which are manufactured in previous years will also get incorporated in new inspection set up.
Any suggestions are most welcome.Thanks in advance

Long back I worked for similar assignment where only QM has to be introduced.
First you
1..identify the Material and Plants needs to be setup for Inspection
2. Create MIC for identified material
3..Create Task Lists
4..Make list of Material in Quality Stock with Plant and Batch number
5. Create new Inspection type (Copy of 08) for material already in QI stock
6..Move QI stock to UR
7.. On non working day or in mid night assign Inspection setup to all material (It's a QM Go Live dt)
8 .. Move identified stock back to QI stock so that Inspection lots will get created (IL origin 08)
Hope this information will give you some clarity & less hassle to move forward

I understand from the documentation to maintain/create master data we have to use normal BW masterdata loading or Maintaince using RSA1. We can utilise those data in BPS ofcourse..

Want to display only certain manully created master data in F4 help?

Hello all,
We have created a Z infoobject (Char 10) and included in our cube. This Infoobject is mapped directly from DSO from another infoobject which has dates, when I see the data in the cube it looks good for this infoobject.
Now my requirement is, I have created a variable on this IO in the query and I want the users to see in the F4 help only the values that I manually maintain in the master data (I am creating master data records)
In the Bex Explorer tab of RSD1, I have selected "Values in Master Data table" and it shows me the values that I have created manually and also the values that got loaded in the cube from transaction data.
What is the setting I can use so the F4 shows only the values that I want users to see.
Any suggestions.

Are you using 3.5 or 7.0 query designer?
If it is 7.0 query designer then you can see the option "refresh variable as designed"
But if you choose this option "values from the master data" it should work.
I've used in my projects this option verymuch. it worked.
Other than that you may change the query generated program in SE38, to select the F4 options in the Variable.
OR
You can keep Default values in the variable for the User.

Hierarchy using a flat file for a master data load.

Can anyone please tell me the steps involved in creating a hierarchy in BI 7.0. and loading the data using a flat file into the created hierarchy? I have seen some posts and weblogs but they were not helpful and i have been getting some errors which i dont know how to resolve.
Can someone please give a clear steps and procedure for this?

Hi,
The flat file is generated in application server by executing an ABAP program in SE38.
This ABAP program contains the logic to generate hierarchy.
In our case we used a DSO to store employee & supervisors.
This program generated a flat file in tmp folder in application server
In our case, To load this flat file we created an Infosource on our master data using direct update using RSA1old Tcode
after Infosource is created right click on the InfoSource and click on Assign DataSource.
Give the Source System name
When you open this Info source you can select data source as YHIEROBJ_HIER and then activate the InfoSource.
create an Info Package to load the Hierarchy. Right click on the PC Files (Source System) and click on u201CCreate InfoPackage".
Under Extraction tab give the flat file name which is generated by the ABAP program in AL11.
Select the hierarchy which you want to load. Also, you can rename the Hierarchy after loading it. The update method is selected as u201CFull Updateu201D.
Logic for Generation of flat file & ABAP Program:
Flat file structure:
Node ID     InfoObject     NodeName     Parent ID     Date To      Date From     Language
u2022     u201CNode IDu201D indicates the unique number which defines the Node.
u2022     u201CInfoObject u201Cgives the name of the InfoObject which is assigned to this Node ID.
u2022     u201CNodeNameu201D is the name you specify to that Node.
u2022     u201CParent IDu201D is the Node ID to which the Current Node ID reports to.
u2022     u201CDate Tou201D and u201CDate Fromu201D are taken for time references (You can set them constant).
u2022      u201CLanguageu201C is set to English (E).
The program Logic can be :
Declare the hierarchy structure
Get the data from DSO into internal table
Read all the EMP values into NodeName Field of the table
Build lookup table for Parent Node ID
Fill Parent Node ID field
Append this data to work area & then to another internal table
You need to declare the selection parameter as SSFILE1
& use following code to write back the file
OPEN DATASET SSFILE1 FOR OUTPUT IN TEXT MODE ENCODING DEFAULT
     MESSAGE MSG.
IF SY-SUBRC NE 0.
    MESSAGE E008(ZBW1) WITH MSG.
ENDIF
Populate the output from that internal table into final work area.
Transfer this final work area to the ssfile1 which is the desired output file.
and   CLOSE DATASET SSFILE1.
When this program is executed, selection screen asks for the name of file
Enter the desired file name & execute
flat file would be generated in the Application server now.
To view the File, Go to Transaction AL11. Search the directory /tmp. Double click on this directory.
This opens the list of flat files under this directory. Double click on the file name.

Create iPPE data in APO

Hi everybody,
We have ECC 6.0 system and implementing APO 5.0. We realized that Model Mix Planning meets the production planning requirements. However, we do not have DI system (which uses iPPE data).
Is it possible to create iPPE data directly in APO manually without transferring from DIMP system, and then planning using MMP in APO, and transferring these planned orders to R/3. I read the note below in help.sap.com. According to this note, it is possible to create iPPE in APO. Then can we say that we can use iPPE data with standard R/3 system (i.e. not a DIMP system)?
Prerequisites for "Generating Production Data Structures (PDS) from iPPE Data ":
1)You have transferred the iPPE data from the DIMP system via the Core Interface in SAP APO, <i><b>or created iPPE master data in SAP APO</b></i> and maintained production versions.
2)You have checked the data in the DIMP system with the iPPE consistency check.

am not sure if you want to know just where it is created.havent tried creating it manually in APO so am not sure of the issues

Integration connections to bring master data into APO and BW system.

Can somebody give step by stip activities to be done FOR creating integration connection for following requriment.
1) To bring master data from R3 System to APO system through BI CUBES using BI type connection
2) APO/R3 type connection R3 system to APO system.

Request you to let me know how can basis person helps in this.
If this is an existing system, the applications team (APO and BW) will not require much assistance from you. You can mostly sit back and watch them do all the work.
I suggest that you read the help link in its entirety provided by expert Datta. Much of the info there is helpful for both solutions.
For the APO interface (question 2 in your original post) there is a complete step-by-step guide provided by SAP. Check these two docs out.

If you are being asked to select from one of the two scenarios you outlined, the standard Core interface is by far the simpler to implement. Plus, it has the advantage that SAP will support you when something goes wrong.
The BW solution is different, in that the developer (you?) MUST have detailed specifications before he can proceed. Which master data? At what organizational levels? How often refreshed? What will be the ultimate use of the data, and how must it be stored? Where will it be stored? How to deal with inconsistencies? Etc etc. SAP support will only solve technical problems in your solution, they won't solve errors of design or logic, unless you happen to get a very accommodating support person when you raise your message.
But in case a basis person need to create RFC how can it be done for above scenario.
The instructions for creating all the RFC stuff is contained in the connectivity doc I cited above.

BW create master data automatically

Hi,
I'm facing an annoying problem:
I have loaded the master data for IO ZFIABC:
E.g ZFIXYZ ZFIABC
     111     2
     222     3
Update rule: when you find value 111 for ZFIXYZ, the value of ZFIABC is 2.
When I load InfoPackage A, everything works fine. When the system finds the value 111 for ZFIXYZ, the value of ZFIABC is 2.
When I load InfoPackage B, this doesn't work right. the value 111 for ZFIXYZ gets a (blank) value for ZFIABC. When I look into the master data, ZFIXYZ has now two records.
E.g ZFIXYZ ZFIABC
     111     2
     111     (blank)
     222     3
Apparently, BW creates automatically records in the master data?!
I'm sure that there are no spaces before or after value 111 of ZFIXYZ for InfoPackage B.
Can anybody explain why BW creates this new records 111-(blank) automatically?
How can I avoid this?

ZFIABC is indeed an InfoObject with ZFIXYZ as Compounding.
The complete flow is as follows.
1) Load from flat file to ODS: ZFIABC is not included yet. ZFIABC is only in the InfoCube, not in the ODS. Up to this part, everything goes fine.
2) Load from ODS to IC:
ZFIABC is in the InfoCube and updated via the transfer rules. The transfer rule is an ABAP Code. It takes the value 111 from ZFIXYZ, looks into the master data table of ZFIXYZ and takes the corresponding value 2 for InfoObject ZFIABC.
What is strange, is that the record 111 (ZFIXYZ) - 2 (ZFIABC) is in the master data. But apparently, another line 111 (ZFIXYZ) - (blank) (ZFIABC) is created. So I find the combination 111 - (blank) in my InfoCube.

How to create master data source for Profit center group in source system

Profit center group information is available in SAP(T-code:kch3). But, I want to have this information in BW too.
Can anyone tell me how to create a datasource for Profit center group? And which SAP table is able to feed master data for this information?

It looks lilke we need to use the FM like 'G_SET_LIST_SELECT' to get the Profit
Here ais note from the forums to get profit center group from table
From Table SETLEAF, Field SETCLASS = '0106'. Field SUBCLASS with controlling area. Profit center in Field VALFROM.
You will get Group name in Field SETNAME.

Can I use export my SAP created master data in a non-SAP system?

Hello,
I am about to start a large integration solution with my SAP customer and they are concerned about licensing. What they want to do is export their GL, cost centre and WBS master data to an external system via integration (probably custom ABAP, or home built BAPI/RFC). The external system then uses the accounting data to determine where to post FI or MM documents back into SAP via custom ABAP, BAPI or maybe IDOC).
Is this OK? Are there any licensing issues with master data used externally and posted back in via custom ABAP or standard BAPIs/IDOCs?

Yes, even indirect access to SAP transactions or data needs to be licensed properly with SAP. Your customer should contact their SAP account rep to discuss the exact use case. Indirect access via certain types of certified integrations may qualify for Platform User License pricing, but there is no generic answer, and it is best for the customer to discuss their specific case directly.
