idt hd audio codec suddenly stopped working with 8.1. Windows update and it stopped working, maybe a coincidence. Error message: Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing (code 39).

Have you made any recent changes to your system?
Have you tried booting into safe mode and doing a Windows repair?
You can run the The HP Support Assistant to help resolve issues and update drivers. You can do a restore back to a time when it was working correctly Using Microsoft System Restore (Windows 8). You can manually download drivers from the download page for your system. HP Drivers & Downloads

Why did video and audio chat suddenly stop working?

I used to be able to video and audio chat with my parents, but it suddenly stopped working. They use AIM.
I get the "There was a communication error during your chat" message come up when I try to connect to their video chat requests. I spent a couple hours reading the old posts on this issue, but nothing seems to work for me. Thanks to anyone who can help me -- my parents in Illinois want to be able to see their grandbaby!

Ok,
Most routing devices have ports that are open (1 - 1024) that allow you to use Web Browser and Mail apps without any set up.
Certain apps need other ports open or allowed as thy are normally closed (1024 - 65535)
Now there are several ways to open these ports.
One method is called Port Forwarding and points the ports you list to one IP on your LAN (The one your computer is getting/using)
Now if the routing device is left doing DHCP this IP can change now and then meaning the Port Forwarding is no longer pointing to the Computer (IP).
If your computer (or your parents in this case) is left on all the time it tends to keep the IP as the Lease as it is called is renewed.
However if the computer is Off for longer than the lease time It will get a new IP
The thing to do is check the routing device's Settings.
This site lists many devices.
If yours is there click on it.
On the next page Click on iChat
You will now see the Default Access Info (And the Port Forwarding info)
DO NOT DO the Port Forwarding but check the settings.
If it does have Port Forwarding set up check the IP it lists as going to matches the one you see in System Preferences > Network for your computer.
AS you say your parents were away for a time I suspect it may be their end.

Audio playback suddenly stopped working?

Audio playback stopped working in my project. The audio is there, but the checkbox in the audio pane will not function. I can click on it all day, but no check appears, and no audio plays.
I have tried typical troubleshooting. Trash prefs, try different audio files and such. If I make a new project, audio plays in it just fine, but after a few minutes work in that project, the audio goes out again, never to return.
Any ideas??

I see you received the error " Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware,The driver may be corrupted or missing (code 39)."
Have you made any recent changes to your system?
Have you tried booting into safe mode and doing a Windows repair?
You can run the The HP Support Assistant to help resolve issues and update drivers. You can do a restore back to a time when it was working correctly Using Microsoft System Restore (Windows 8). You can manually download drivers from the download page for your system. HP Drivers & Downloads

IDT High Definition CODEC has stopped working

I own a Pavillion dv6 Entertainment PC with 64 bit Windows 7 Pro as its OS. Until yesterday, the CODEC provided great sound. Then it began expeiencing probles, and today quit working entirely.
I consulted Windows Event Viewer and found that, on multiple occasions beginning mid day yesterday, it began recording events with an Error message ID of 1005. Looking further, each one recorded that Windows could not open the same file: C:\Windows\System32\AudioEng.dll. and that Windows had stopped the service Windows Audio Graph Isolation as a result.
Windows Message Center recorded that it had tried and failed on 6 occasions to open this file. Following its suggested dolution, I ran CHKDSC with both options enabled. Upon completion, its report showed 0 Bad Files processed and - bytes in bad sectors. Yet the problems persist.
Is this a problem with a corrupted driver? If so, how do I find a driver newer than version 6.10.6276.0, released in 2010?

It would not download - said it was not compatble with my operating system.
I run Windows 7, 64 bit.
I'm trying to increse the sound volume from the monitor.
I have increased the sound to 100 from the monitor and in Windows . It is still barely audible. . .

I can tell you that according to Product Specifications page for your HP Pavilion w2338h is a 23-inch wide-screen HDMI monitor, your monitor has 2 watts oer speaker integrated speakers. A pair of reasonably sensitive speakers deliver the following decibel levels at a distance of about one meter.
Power/ Decibels
2 Watts = 93 decibels
4 Watts = 96 decibels
8 Watts = 99 decibels
16 Watts = 102 decibels
32 Watts = 105 decibels
64 Watts = 108 decibels
128 Watts = 111 decibels
256 Watts = 114 decibels
512 Watts= 117 decibels
1024 Watts = 120 decibels
For Comparison
10db = normal human breathing
60db = normal human conversation
110db = power saw, car horn, shouting in ear,
120db = jet aircraft close by, emergency vehicle siren, rock concert
Now as to whether installing the IDT High-Definition Audio CODEC Driver for Microsoft Windows 7 will give you the audio level you are seeking will depend on what computer you have and what audio drivers are installed. To provide you with more accurate information I would need to know additional information concerning your computer. Is this an HP computer? If it is not the driver question would be better answered by the computer manufacturer. If this is an HP computer could you please provide the product number for it so I can take a look into what drivers work on that computer?

How exactly stopped working? Three things to try
Using Windows Explorer navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Reader 11.0\Reader, then double-click on Eula.exe and accept the license agreement
Can you open Adobe Reader by itself? If so, try disabling Protected Mode [Edit | Preferences | Security (Enhanced)].
It could even be a malware issue; see http://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/reader-core-dll-error.html

Audio suddenly stops working

Over the past few days, I've been having trouble with the audio on my computer. When I start it up, the audio is working fine. However, after some time has passed, (it varies each time) the audio suddenly stops working. I can mute the audio, but it takes about 5 presses of the button to do so. The audio will not play at all; not for webpages, Windows Media Player, or even the system sounds.
Troubleshooter cannot detect any problems with the audio and whenever I try to change the properties of the speakers, it claims "This device is being used by another application", even when I do not have any applications open. All drivers are up to date, and other than the audio not playing, the computer runs fine. By restarting the computer, the problem fixes itself, but eventually the sound disappears again.
If at all possible, I would prefer a solution that will not delete any files or programs that I have downloaded. I'm also very inept with computers, so I may need a step-by-step walkthrough to follow.

We can't know. You have not told us what exactly the problem is. If there are any warnings, you need to provide them along with other info like the crash logs. If not you have to explain the situation in more detail. Just saying that it doesn't work anymore is not particularly useful.

Try installing this driver: IDT High-Definition (HD) Audio Driver
If that fails, try using the HP Recovery Manager to roll back to the factory installed driver.
Test after both. Let me know if either option worked.

I know you can't help with my Yahoo problem, however, apparently at some time in the past I have went to the Sync and tried to figure it out on both my laptop and my desktop, because I have the long snyc key information. However, when I go to try to sync both computers I never get the box to enter that key on either one. That is my problem. So should I try and get a new sync key and see if that works.

Try the following.
Download the IDT Audio installer on the link below and save it to your Downloads folder.
http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp56501-57000/sp56900.exe
When done, open windows Control Panel, open Device Manager and open up Sound, Video and Game Controllers. Right click the IDT device and select Uninstall - you should also get a prompt to remove the current driver, tick the box to allow this and then proceed with the uninstall.
When complete,download and reinstall the Chipset driver on the link below.
Chipset Driver - Windows 7.
When this has completed, shut down the notebook, unplug the AC Adapter and then hold down the Power and Beats buttons for 10 seconds. When done, reconnect the AC Adapter.
Tap away at the esc key as you start the notebook to launch the Start-up Menu and then select f10 to enter the bios menu. Press f5 to load the defaults ( this is sometimes f9, but the menu at the bottom will show the correct key ), use the arrow keys to select 'Yes' and hit enter. Press f10 to save the setting and again use the arrow keys to select 'Yes' and hit enter.
Let Windows fully load - it will automatically load an audio driver, but just let this complete. Then open your Downloads folder, right click on the IDT installer and select 'Run as Administrator' to start the installation. When this has completed, right click the speaker icon in the Taskbar and select Playback Devices. Left click 'Speakers and Headphones' once to highlight it and then click the Set Default button - check if you now have audio.
