IDVD project info doesnt show content and wont burn properly

I am using iDVD 6 on a macbook. have successfully burned DVD's using iDVD in the past and now here is the deal I cant resolve. My imovie is first in DVD map and it is looped. It plays fine when played from this and other locations. I go to project info and it is .8GB for a 26 minute video on the DVD capacity.(which doesnt seem right.) When I burn it, it goes thru the paces and kicks out the DVD and it says current operation-done. In previous projects it has asked me if I would like to burn another copy. I press cancel and it says "cleaning up" and I end up force quitting iDVD. What am I doing wrong this time. i aprreciate any help, im racking my brain for hours. Thanks.

If so: Update following
• iMovie to 6.0.4
• QuickTime to 7.3.0
• Mac OS to X.4.11
Still problems: Do
• Start a new user/account and log into this
Still problems: Do
• Run Apple Disk Util tool and
Repair Permissions
Repair Hard disk (to do this You need to start Your Mac from a DVD or external hard disk

Hi, ive made a project using idvd, and it wont burn properly

and when i go to burn it to a dvd, it plays properly with music and everything , it goes throught he motions of burning it, then chucks it out a minute before it finishes, and the disk is empty, there are no warning signs anywhere, so just wondered if someone could help a first time idvd user;-)) thanks

That use to be either
• Cheap DVDs e.g. Memorex, NoName etc. - I only use Verbatim DVD-R
• Dusty DVD laser lens - I use a Cleaning DVD from time to time
Else
• Trash iDVD pref file
• Run Repair Permissions
Not knowing the origin to Your problem - General approach when in trouble is as follows.
• Delete iDVD pref. file - or rather start a new user/account - log into this and re-try
iDVD pref. file resides.
Mac Hard Disk (start-up HD)/Users/"Your account"/Library/Preferences
and is named.
com.apple.iDVD.plist
While iDVD is NOT RUNNING - move this file out to desk-top.
Now restart iDVD.
• Free space on internal (start-up) hard disk if it is less than 10Gb should rather have 25Gb
• Disconnect all external hard disks and try - FireWire, USB/2, AirPort or Net-work connected.
To work OK I prefer FireWire AND it must be Mac OS Extended formatted -
UNIX/DOS/FAT32/Mac OS Exchange - WILL NOT DO for video -
neither for iMovie or FinalCut or iDVD any version !
This also includes any USB-memory sticks.
• Hard disk is untidy. Repair Permissions, Repair Hard disk (Apple’s Disk Utilities application)
• Program miss-match. iDVD 5.0.2, Mac OS X.4.11 AND QuickTime 7.5.5 - is OK - DON’T work under Leopard
• Program miss-match. iDVD 6.0.4, Mac OS X.4.11 AND QuickTime 7.5.5 - is OK (might work under Leopard)
• Program miss-match. iDVD’08 v. 7.0.1, Mac OS X.4.11 AND QuickTime 7.5.5 - is OK will work under Leopard)
• Program miss-match. iDVD’09 v. 7.0.4, Mac OS X.5.8 AND QuickTime 7.6.4 - is OK (does work under Leopard)

Last resort. from Craig. Solved the problem ! ! Finally ! !
I deleted every iDVD application and folder from my boot drive,
emptied the trash and then installed iDVD 08 using the customize option
and I am up and running.
If You do a re-install be sure to get rid of all iDVD old parts AND then EMPTY the Trash-basket !
iDVD updated ?
Apple Codec updated ?
Start a New Clean project - or delete project assets
No of Colors - must be set to millions
EdinSF writes that, The 10.6.3 update with an Open GL fix seems to have taken care of the problem.

Check to see if the iPhone is a remove able drive then go thru folders looking for dcim folder that holds the pics on the iPhone

Show Content and Stacked canvas?

Hello to all,
I have a very simple form:
- 1 datablock
- 1 window
- 2 canvas: the main (content) and a stacked one with all the items.
- I want to have a multirecord view.
As I have lots of items... and I need to show all of them in a specific format (all in the same line), I need to add an horizontal bar. That's why I added the stacked canvas to my form.
In my block properties I've added a vertical scrollbar (it's the only item in the main canvas)...
The idea is to show in the same window the horizontal and vertical scrollbars...
but.. I don't know why.. when I run the form I only see the stacked canvas with the items...
Any idea?
I'm sure it's an easy question.. but.. :-P

If it 's Cmos battery, you need to replace it. It's not complicated to replace it but you have to disassemble the laptop and it's soldered. I think you should contact the service center, if it's battery issue it doesn't cost you much money. At our service it costs about $ 20 to replace.

How do I change the encoder settings to burn this movie from iTunes it's only 1 movie 1:23 long

Short version:
Best Performance is for videos of up to 60 minutes
Best Quality is for videos of up to 120 minutes
Professional Quality is also for up to 120 minutes but even higher quality (and takes much longer)
That was for single-layer DVDs. Double these numbers for dual-layer DVDs.
Professional Quality: The Professional Quality option uses advanced two-pass technology to encode your video (The first pass determines which parts of the movie can be given greater compresson without quality loss and which parts can’t. The second pass then encodes those different parts accordingly) , resulting in the best quality of video possible on your burned DVD. You can select this option regardless of your project’s duration (up to 2 hours of video for a single-layer disc and 4 hours for a double-layer disc). Because Professional Quality encoding is time-consuming (requiring about twice as much time to encode a project as the High Quality option, for example) choose it only if you are not concerned about the time taken.
In both cases the maximum length includes titles, transitions and effects etc. Allow about 15 minutes for these.
You can use the amount of video in your project as a rough determination of which method to choose. If your project has an hour or less of video (for a single-layer disc), choose Best Performance. If it has between 1 and 2 hours of video (for a single-layer disc), choose High Quality. If you want the best possible encoding quality for projects that are up to 2 hours (for a single-layer disc), choose Professional Quality. This option takes about twice as long as the High Quality option, so select it only if time is not an issue for you.
Use the Capacity meter in the Project Info window (choose Project > Project Info) to determine how many minutes of video your project contains.
NOTE: With the Best Performance setting, you can turn background encoding off by choosing Advanced > “Encode in Background.” The checkmark is removed to show it’s no longer selected. Turning off background encoding can help performance if your system seems sluggish.
And whilst checking these settings in iDVD Preferences, make sure that the settings for NTSC/PAL and DV/DV Widescreen are also what you want.

IDVD project plays perfectly in preview but when burned NO AUDIO.....

The iDVD (v 6.0.2 )project plays all video and menus/buttons perfectly in preview but when burned to NO AUDIO except on menus, none in the AUDIO TS folder, none on main video which has 11 chapters exported from FCP 5.0.4 as QT w/chapters.
Also the burned DVD has scrambled the links from the Scene selection menu to the correct video chapter.
I've checked all the media for 16 bit, etc.
WHY does it play fine on the simulator but screw up so badly when burned to disk.
any help would be appreciated, THANKS in advance

I had the same problem with my music not playing once I burned my iDVD's.
What I figured out, was that whenever I download music from iTunes, and try to use the music within my iDVD program, there's a little lock that appears in the iTunes file of the song I'm using. No one knows why...I spent hours on the phone with Apple trying to figure it out. So, the file is locked, and will play on my computer when I view my show, but will not play once burned, and I try to play it on the TV.
So, my work around is that every single song I purchase from iTunes...I have to burn onto a CD, and then burn back into my iTunes. That creates an unlocked file, and I am now able to use it.
I don't know if this is the same problem you are having...but it's a huge headache as I create these iDVD's a LOT for my business.
It basically stinks, and there's no fix - according to Apple...

Compressor stops at 6:24 and wont burn Blu-Ray

Hello,
Using Compressor 3.5.3 on an Imac pro. Im creating a blu-Ray disc as I have done 100 times before. Now the compressor process stops at 6:24 remaing and wont go any further. Ive tried re exporting the movie from FCP 7, different hard drives. I thought it might be my burner, but that works fine. So if any one can elp me get further than 6:24 remaining I would appreciate it

Trying to narrow possibilities. And so much for the corrupt project/clip theory. It sounds like it's not getting to the job action stage…that it's hanging while still in the encode process…correct? In which case it's probably not going to make any difference whether you set the output device to HD or your burner…but as a long shot you might try that on a short segment.
In addition to David's excellent suggetion to try Digital Rebellion's repair tool, have you seen these troubleshooting steps from Apple? The escalate in degrees of severity up to the point of reinstall. Prior to the stage of trashing preferences, I'd first do a simple reset of background processing (under the Compressor drop down menu) to see whether that cured it.

Formatted iDVD project complete with Themes, etc...burning through Toast?

I need to use Toast to burn my completed iDVD project. Worked a looong time making it perfect with formatting using Themes, custom Text pages, etc... I'd hate to lose all that, but need to use Toast to compress the video to fit a Single Layer DVD. Does Toast preserve the iDVD formatting or not? Can iDVD finalize a project with Toast burning in mind? Help?

If I'm not mistaken, you can create a disc image to the desktop from the file menu in iDvd. Then burn said image in Toast while selecting the fit to dvd option.
But you may be restricted to selecting one of Toast's basic themes.

Wont burn properly

Hey guys wondering some tips for my DVD drive. My Project wont burn. When its done burning and formating on Pro or Imovie the disk simply has nothing on it. iv tried several variety of DVD-Rs.
Any suggestions?

what happens when you use Simulator befor you burn?
have you placed a video in a video track and is it set for first play?
what does the log say about the burn process?
what happens when you play it back in DVD Player?

RSRV doesnt show contents of one particular cube

Hello Gurus,
I have loaded data into a cube, around 500k. I can see the data in the manage cube option. but RSRV shows that fact table has 0 records and dim tables have 1 records each!!!!!!!!
Why is this. i am confused.

RSRV works on stats on the cube, which don't seem to have been updated. Update the stats from the performance tab in manage of the Infocube and then check.

HT201412 try to update to ios7 and shows error and wont update

When I try to update my iphone 5 to ios 7.0.4 it shows an error after some time and won't update. initially di not have enough space and fixed that, tried connected to PC, did not work. (will not charge either while connected to PC). Tried connected to mains power - still won't work. Some guidance please.

After reading your post, it sounds like you are experiencing an error when attempting to update. You may want to consider restarting the device first, and then resetting if that does not work. This article provides detailed instructions for Restarting, and Reseting:

How to restart
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the red slider appears.
Drag the slider to turn your device completely off.
After the device turns off, press and hold the Sleep/Wake button again until you see the Apple logo.

To reset, press and hold both the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons for at least 10 seconds, until you see the Apple logo.

Itunes 11.03.42 doesnt show artwork and playlist of a podcast

Hi! I have a very anoying problem since i update my itunes to this version, because i used to download Tiesto Podcast, and there was an option to see the artwork and the list of songs to change from one to another in the podcast when i prees the cover in the player,but now with the new miniplayer i can just only see the default podcast cover and i cant see the list of songs in that way.. and i found that very annoying, I used that way to navigate in the podcast and wrote the name of the songs quickly to then search them and downloaded them. i hope you help me to find a way to make it work.. or i dont know if this is a bug

Turned off my firewall and tried but still didnt work. Rang Apple Care and went through about 10 things. Didnt resolve.
I then tried different media and a CDRW worked.
I wasted 10 CD-Rs today
Not really sure if its a media problem as 2 CD-Rs out of the same batch worked yesterday.
