If I can't find the start up disks, is there anyway to get iWork back after installing a new hard drive?

I had to install a new hard drive because my orginal one crashed. When I bought my macbook, iWork came pre-installed. Now with a new hard drive I would like iWork back on my computer, but can't find the start up disks, assuming I'd be able to do it that way. Is there anyway I can contact Apple and have them give me the iWork software?
(Overall, very upset about this since my macbook is only 2 years old and I lost everything. A friend of mine has been working on it for 3 weeks trying to recover some data.)

- Did you restore from a backup that contained the photos?
- The backup only contains photos in the iPod's Camera Roll album. It does not included photos synced to the iPod.
- All you can do is try restoring from backup again.

The startup disk is the internal SSD in your MBA.  You may delete files by draging the file  to Trash (or clicking on them and then execute COMMAND+Delete).  Then empty Trash.

You cannot update iPhone 4 to IOS 8.1.2, the highest you can update is IOS 7.1.2.

  • After installing a new hard drive can I install snow leopard directly from snow leopard disc

After installing a new hard drive can I install snow leopard directly from snow leopard disc. Or do I have to install previous versions first. iMac 7.1 (2007) 2.8ghz

You can install directly, assuming the disk is newer than your computer and not designed for a different Mac, but doing so won't install iLife.

  • I see that i have a problem after installing my new hard drive on my macbook pro mid 2009 version. I put a new hard drive, with all of my information from my old drive installed on it, into the computer. but now have the blinking question mark folder

i see that i have a problem after installing my new hard drive on my macbook pro mid 2009 version. I put a new hard drive, with all of my information from my old drive installed on it, into the computer. but now have the blinking question mark folder. I see that it means that it isn't reading the new hard drive.
did i miss a step between transferring all of my information from my old hard drive to the new hard drive and installing the new hard drive into the computer. I believe that i installed properly. it was quite easy.
    thanks for your help

It means there is no bootable system on the drive. If you still have access to the old drive, then I suggest you boot from it then clone it to the new internal drive. Use OPTION boot to boot from the Recovery HD on the old drive:
    Boot to the Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
         1. Select Disk Utility from the main menu then press the Continue
             button.
         2. Select the destination volume from the left side list.
         3. Click on the Restore tab in the DU main window.
         4. Select the destination volume from the left side list and drag it
             to the Destination entry field.
         5. Select the source volume from the left side list and drag it to
             the Source entry field.
         6. Double-check you got it right, then click on the Restore button.
Source means the external old drive. Destination means the new internal drive.

  • IPhoto 5 can't find my pictures after installing a new hard drive.

I had a corrupted hard drive which I was able to get going again with Disk Warrior. I backed up my i Photo Library on external storage and then installed the new drive and reinstalled OS 10.4.10 on my old G4. I then installed iLife 05 and tried to open iPhoto. I got an error message stating: "You can't open your current iPhoto library using this version of iPhoto".
After I read the iLife 05 missing manual I found out that you shouldn't save iPhoto files this way. I can't imagine having to burn DVD's in order to save picture files. What ever happened to "it is intuitively obvious on the Mac".
Is there any way for me to recover these picture files? I downloaded an iPhoto library manager but that was no help. Is this file recovery problem easier with iLife 08? I am getting a new iMac later this week with iLife 08 available with it..............donn

    Problem solved
I moved all of the iPhoto files into trash and then restarted the machine and reinstalled iPhoto 5. I used my oldest iphoto library file and everything worked. I was a little surprised that the install program was not more selective in picking up a library file.
Everything is working fine now. Thanks for your help....donn

  • Lombard couldn't start after installing a new hard drive

After I installed the new internal hard drive for my powerbook G3 lombard, I tried to boost it by using my tiger disk and hold "C", but the Finder prompt shows "?" and i couldn't even start the computer. I aslo tried the same thing by using my old OS 8.6, it was still the same. This problem is happened only after i installed the new 40GB hard drive in my powerbook.
When finder prompted "?", I just let it going, the computer shut down itself after a while.
Could you please tell me what the problem is and how to fix it? Thanks!
    Eric
    Powerbook G3 Lombard   Mac OS X (10.4.3)

    Eric,
If you have not done so, reset the PRAM from a cold start; please allow 2-3 startup chimes before releasing keys.
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=2238
With all peripherals disconnected, boot to your MacOS 8.6 CD. Use the Drive Setup in the Utilities folder on the CD to initialize the HD using HFS Extended Format; this is always a good procedure to follow on a new HD. Also be sure to "Update HD Driver" with Drive Setup so a driver will be installed.
You need 9.x to run XPostFacto; if you don't have 9.x, you could install an earlier version of 10.x up to 10.3 which is natively supported by the Lombard, then install XpostFacto. This will allow you to boot the Tiger DVD and install 10.4.
If you have a USB HD with a bootable 9.x installed, boot to your MacOS 8.6 CD, then connect the USB HD. If you have 9.x on the USB HD, you can drag-copy it to the internal HD, then restart to the internal HD. Now add XPostFacto so you can install Tiger.
You cannot boot to a FireWire HD through a FW PC card. However, once you have an OS installed on the internal HD, you can use XPostFacto as a "helper" to boot a FW HD through a FW PC card if you desire. I am not sure if you also need 10.x on the internal HD for this configuration to work.
You also cannot boot to a USB HD:

Good luck and I hope I have covered all of your options.

  • After installing a new hard drive the fan is very noisy. Hardware test error code 4MOT/1/40000003: HDD-1417

I've carried out all the trouble shooting procedures. The fan is running @ 3899rpm and the temp is 26 deg celsius. (I'm assuming the sensor is working OK...it may not be) A SMART test was OK, can anyone please identify the code and suggest a solution.
    Thanks
    roger190

There are temperature sensor on the Apple installed hard drives. Did you reattach this to the new drive? If so how well / badly was it stuck on? Was the sensor damaged during the install of the new drive?
The fact the fans are running @3899rpm shows something is not quite right.
Is it possible the new drive is faulty? See here:

  • How do I retrieve the music off my iPod after installing a new hard drive on my laptop

My laptop harddrive was just replaced, and I didn't have my iTunes backed up. When I went to sync my iPod with my new iTunes, it says that my iPod is already synced to another iTunes library, so I can't sync it to mine. But that old one was on my dead hard drive. How can I retrieve my music off my iPod?

Copy the entire iTunes folder from the old computer to the new computer.

Or, you can upgrade to Lion or Mountain Lion:
Upgrading from Snow Leopard to Lion or Mountain Lion
You can upgrade to Mountain Lion from Lion or directly from Snow Leopard. Mountain Lion can be downloaded from the Mac App Store for $19.99.
If you sign into the App Store and try to purchase Mountain Lion but the App Store says your computer is not compatible then you may still be able to upgrade to Lion per the following information.
    A. Upgrading to Mountain Lion
To upgrade to Mountain Lion you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.8 or Lion installed. Purchase and download Mountain Lion from the App Store. Sign in using your Apple ID. Mountain Lion is $19.99 plus tax. The file is quite large, over 4 GBs, so allow some time to download. It would be preferable to use Ethernet because it is nearly four times faster than wireless.
OS X Mountain Lion - System Requirements
Macs that can be upgraded to OS X Mountain Lion
             1. iMac (Mid 2007 or newer) - Model Identifier 7,1 or later
             2. MacBook (Late 2008 Aluminum, or Early 2009 or newer) - Model Identifier 5,1 or later
             3. MacBook Pro (Mid/Late 2007 or newer) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             4. MacBook Air (Late 2008 or newer) - Model Identifier 2,1 or later
             5. Mac mini (Early 2009 or newer) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             6. Mac Pro (Early 2008 or newer) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             7. Xserve (Early 2009) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
To find the model identifier open System Profiler in the Utilities folder. It's displayed in the panel on the right.
         Are my applications compatible?
See App Compatibility Table - RoaringApps.
For a complete How-To introduction from Apple see Upgrade to OS X Mountain Lion.
    B. Upgrading to Lion
If your computer does not meet the requirements to install Mountain Lion, it may still meet the requirements to install Lion.
You can purchase Lion by contacting Customer Service: Contacting Apple for support and service - this includes international calling numbers. The cost is $19.99 (as it was before) plus tax.  It's a download. You will get an email containing a redemption code that you then use at the Mac App Store to download Lion. Save a copy of that installer to your Downloads folder because the installer deletes itself at the end of the installation.
         Lion System Requirements
           1. Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7,
               or Xeon processor
           2. 2GB of memory
           3. OS X v10.6.6 or later (v10.6.8 recommended)
           4. 7GB of available space
           5. Some features require an Apple ID; terms apply.
