If you really want your contact back and you did not do another iCloud backap since you deleted some of your contacts, you can do a hard reboot on both devices with iClouded contacts by holding down the home and lock buttons on each of them for 10 seconds ignoring the slide to turn off thing. Make sure you have iCloud contact services off before doing so. You can then go through the whole set up process until you get up to the backup part. You then press to restore from an iCloud backup (make sure you choose the right backup for the right phone). If you didn't make an iCloud backup before the contact incident, you will have to use your two-month-old iTunes backups. Each phone should have their contacts the way they were from your last backup. You then go into Settings>iCloud>and turn off contacts. You then can choose if you want to keep your current contacts or not. Turn this off on both phones just incase you add another iCloud device to the mix later on. Now your contact lists are no longer linked (Caution: side effect may include lack of edit button). You may now add and delete contacts as you please without it happening on your other phone.

I had to purchase a new Iphone today because it would no longer turn on. I had Icloud set up for that device. When I got my new phone I put in my exsisting apple ID and it is showing my other device. Since it has both phones listed, am I able to delete the old phone, or will that take whatever is saved from that device off of my Icloud account?

I had the iPhone 5 for a while and my Macbook Air was sending me the incoming messages from that phone, however I just upgraded to the 6 Plus and was wondering how I can get my laptop to recognize the messages from this phone now on iMessages.

Okay so my Macbook Air has always allowed me to receive iMessages from my iPhone 5 to my computer. So basically I could use both to text.. However I just upgraded to the iPhone 6 Plus and I would like the same to happen again with my new phone, but I don't know how. How can my incoming iMessages from my new iPhone 6 plus show up on my laptop?

If you are signed onto the same iCloud/Apple ID for Messages, then the second number should have been registered with your Messages on the Mac at the time it was verified.
To check this, open Messages on the Mac, click on Accounts, and see if the number is displaying and checked. If it is not, Sign out of Messages on your new device and then sign on again.
Again, phones need to be signed onto the same Messages account that you have set up in Messages.

If you restore to an older backup, you will get the content that is in the backup. Everything on the iPhone will be erased and you will be brought back to the time that backup was made. Try disabling photo stream from settings. This should remove all pictures you have in photostream.

The same way they got there, through the iTunes sync process. Under the photos tab, in iTunes, deselect the albums/folders you don't want on your phone, hit the Apply/Sync button.

MobileMe was discontinued in 2012 and all the data stored on it was deleted, and iCloud can't make backups of Macs.
What I recommend you to make backups is to get an external drive and use Time Machine or an application like Carbon Copy Cloner. With this, you can access to your data everywhere and safely, and then, if you want, use a cloud storage service like CrashPlan. You can keep on using iCloud without backups

Well, I believe I found it.....
When I connect the IPhone the device name pops up under devices in the selection column. Right click on the device name and select "Back-up".....
If this is incorrect please let others know as I won't be able to because my wife will have destroyed all computers in the house for losing her data.

Thanx for the link...here's my problem. I built my windows pc and installed 2 hard drives...but the larger one isn't accessible right now...not sure why...but the solid state little one is full. This is a problem I need one of my kid's to help me address. I have a lot of photos 'cause my husbands into photography, we travel a lot, and somehow thousands of photos he took, plus ones I took, plus videos I took, ended up on my iPhone...and they are different in a lot of cases from the photos on the iPad that we share. I know I have 2 address this someday, bu don't have time right now...and I can't take any new photos or videos...or even add an app for that matter, until I free up some space on my iPhone. We've already taken two brief trips where I wanted to use my camera and couldn't...and I was looking for a quick way to address my picture taking ability...because we are leaving for another trip in a week, and another one right after that. This is probably way more info than you need...but there are probably duplicates...but until I go thru them I won't know. I could be wrong, but I thought when I backed up my photos to iCloud that all the photos in the photo app were backed up. Maybe I'm wrong and it's only those in the Photo Stream...in which case I should do something about that as well, 'cause I've upgraded our storage plan twice now...and it is getting pretty expensive...and I don't even know how to use it other than to do a complete restore when you get a new device which I just did recently because my son wanted our old iPad for a graduation present, and I kind of wanted the better camera on the new iPad, so I got one...and it took a week to retrieve everything from the cloud on our wi-fi! what you need to do is do a backup. then download and install the update, then allow it to restore from backup. You'll lose nothing that way. Don't do a backup then you do run the risk of losing data.

you can't recover iOS crypted backup password, for security purposes. your backup is useless. sorry.
if you still have your old iPhone, make a new back-up
