If I open Firefox all that comes up is a translucent page with only the minimize, maximize and close icons in the top right corner. How do I restore Firefox?
There is no address bar, no error message, or anything at all but the three icons in the upper right corner. The entire page is just a giant translucent square with the three icons.
hello MilaRowantree, can you try launching firefox in safe mode by pressing the shift key while it is starting and see if the issue is occurring there too? maybe a theme or hardware acceleration is interfering here...
if safemode is working, you can try disabling hardware acceleration in firefox > options > advanced > general and or disable addons that might cause the problem. it also would be interesting which graphics hardware (adapter description, driver date & driver version) you are using - you can access this information in firefox > help > troubleshooting information towards the bottom of that page... thank you

After a bunch of browsing, a black window takes over the windows caption bar and covers the minimize, maximize, and close buttons. When this happens, I can't close firefox except by accessing the firefox menu. And there is no way to minimize or maximize the window.

My Minimize, Maximize, and Close Buttons are not functional in Firefox 13.0.1
I recently downloaded Firefox 13.0.1.. For the past several days the minimize, maximize, and exit buttons located in the top right hand corner have been non functional almost immediately upon starting a browser session. I have tried disabling plugins with no success. I have experienced the same problem when running safe mode. I have attempted to disable hardware accelerators. I have even tried resetting to default settings.. For the record

My iWork '09 (pages, numbers, keynote) all won't open since i downloaded the first update for Mountain Lion. When i try to open it, it just comes up with this error report:

There was one time where my wi-fi wasn't connecting so I tried to turn it back on. A window popped up but I had alrdy clicked enter before I read it, but it said something like "...will change settings, is that okay...?" And then wi-fi still would not connect. So I tried restarting my computer, but when it turned on, my user account did not show up and all there was on the screen was two boxes that asked for name and password. I was the only person using my macbook so I never set up a password for it. Has anyone had this problem? How do I fix this?
Since I'm not in front of your computer I can't tell what you see - I can only guess and give a hint. So once again, if the disk name on your Mac is "Macintosh HD", when you boot in Recovery Mode, and start up the Terminal in "Utilities" menu, and then type in the command:
df -k
you should see a list of "volumes" - one of which is named "/Volumes/Macintosh HD" (but yours could be anything) and in that folder there is another folder called "Users" and in that folder is the names of the home directories of the user accounts (and the names that you can enter into the login screen) that you are looking for. So if you are not familiar with using the Terminal you should say so and I can give more details. But assuming you're OK with typing in commands to theTerminal this is what I would try:
ls -l /Volumes/Macintosh HD/Users
and you should see something like the following (my disk name is "Yosemite" so I typed "ls -l /Volumes/Yosemite/Users")

So now reboot your mac into normal mode - and you will see the login screen with the two empty boxes.
So the above output tells me that there are 3 users - Jack, x13 and x14 (there is always a Shared user and there might or might not be a Guest user since it depends on how your setup was setup) - and these 3 are the names that I could try and enter into the login screen (in the top or first box). You can try no password, but I don't think you can create accounts without passwords, so this will likely fail. In that case you need to reboot in recovery mode and run the Terminal command again (from the Utilities menu) and do a resetpassword command. Another window will pop up and from there you select the Volume (in my case I selected the Yosemite volume - in your case you would select the "Macintosh HD" if that is what your volume name is). Then select the user account you want to reset the password from the drop-down list of user accounts (it will show you the long and short names, and the short name is what was in the listing above from the "ls -l" command), then enter the new password in the indicated box, and then enter it again in the next box, to make sure you didn't make a typo, and enter a password hint in the last box (optional). Then click the "Save" button and you will see another dialog box pop up telling you that the password was changed but not the Keychain password (hopefully you remember this one) - click the OK button then reboot back in normal mode (click on the Apple logo in the top left corner of the screen and click on Restart).

Only my third day with a new computer. I have always used FF and it let me bookmark the first two days with this computer (Mac desktop, OS X 10.6.4). I'm not sure if I accidentally set it to do this or what. When I press the star or go in manually to the Bookmarks menu to add a bookmark, nothing happens at all. There are no new screens and I looked in the menus to see if anything was added anywhere and there is nothing. My recent bookmarks are still there and working though.

I am literally stuck in Firefox. Suddenly the window changed to full screen mode, and the title bar and Firefox menu disappeared, along with the close, minimize, and maximize buttons. All I can access are the menu bar and open browser tabs.
I can't even access my dock (on Mac), which usually pops up when I mouse over the bottom of the screen.
So, the only way it seems I can get out of Firefox is to shut down my computer by pressing the power button. Unless there is some keyboard shortcut. I tried command-11 but that just switched between open my browser tabs.
FYI i have no idea what Ubuntu is and don't think I'm using it (that name seems to pop up when I google this problem)
Oh yeah, also I'm using Firefox 3.6.2 because my elderly Mac is running on OSX 10.4.11. Have never had any problems with it before.IN your iTunes library, does the movie appear with a cloud on it for downloading?
is the movie still in the iTunes Store?
iTunes purchases the rights to sell a movie, but those are for a time limit. If the right expires and apple doesn't renew, the movie is no longer available for download and must be saved in your library. I suggest backing up your movies ASAP. Check the store for this movie, perhaps it is still available. -
I need to enter the www.address. on this computer I can only enter the address in the google or yahoo section, not where the address should be. On the firefox home page the area where you search Google is the only way I can enter my address. There is no place where I can type an address.

The homepage would not load. The back arrow doesn't work. There is no bookmark page. To get it to all work i have to click on the house looking icom to get the homepage to load, right clik again to access the toolbars and left click on the bookmarks oolbars to remove it, the right again and left click again to have it appear. I click to open the mail application but it never opens. After waiting a few minutes the amount of notifications I have is shown on the icon but it still won't open. Mail worked fine on my mac until I updated to Mavericks. Please help!! I've already tried restarting and I also tried deleting my mail account off of mail and then adding it back but it still doesn't work. I never made a backup so I can't go back to a previous version and I can't try a clean install.

I downloade the update to Firefox 4.0. Now when I open the browser only a black screen comes up. No text is visible on the pager or the menus. I cannot type any text within the page. When a move the cursor around the black page little magnifying glasses show up.

Something happened with Firefox where all that comes up when I open Firefox are my toolbars and a place to enter a URL, but there is no window. I have to enter full screen mode to view websites. How do I get back to a regular browsing window? I have no idea how this even happened.

I have some old pagemaker files that I need to open so I have bought a G3 on ebay. It turns on OK but all that comes uo on the screen is an envelope with alternating question mark and apple logo. Any ideas?
I suggest you get 9.2. You need to install the same or later version of the OS. One some computer the shipped version has extra drivers. The drivers will not be in the official release in this case 9.1. They would be in 9.2.

Try holding down the option key then power on. This brings up the startup manager. Click on your hd. Click on right arrow key.
You need to figure out the level of your firmware before installing 10.2 or greater. ( The PC name for firmware is BIOS. ) Installing 10.2 with a down level firmware will most likely make your iMac unusable and difficult to fix.

Figuring out what level of firmware you have?
Open Firmware, boot into Open Firmware.
