If I send in my Apple Earpods in for repair will they charge me anything cause my parents won't fill out the info unless they know they don't have to pay anything?

A couple of days ago my iPod 5Generation cracked and I had to get a new one, and when I opened up the box the Earpods were all bent and scratched up. I was wondering if Apple will replace them if they were broken when they were bought. My iPod 5Generation is under a warranty with Best Buy. Also, it was under warranty before it broke. Please Help???

I believe they will, yes, but customer support might know better.

I'm trying to send a tune as a gift but, every time I fill out the info, and press "continue", I get a message that my session has "timed out". I didn't take me over a minute to fill out the form. How fast does one have to be!?

Well, first, why are you running such ancient versions of Firefox as 3.6? i would immediately update to Firefox 15.0.1 as Firefox 3.6.28 is no longer supported and is critically insecure.
As for the dreamweaver thing, I'm not sure this is a Firefox issue, so I'd check again after updating Firefox.

  • I am trying to creat an Apple Id account.  Everytime I fill out the info and they as me to verify me email address it says "Sorry".  Underneath in small letters it say "Session timed out etc"  I have tried resetting password and double checked my ID

It says sorry you session has expired.  Verizon said it is a "apple" problem  I have tried many times!!

This can also happen when the internet/3g/4g connection is too slow. Time out errors happen when a website takes more than a certain amount of time to load. The time limit is usually long enough for any website with reasonable connection speed. You might try using a different wifi location. If you are using a computer with an ethernet port, try plugging the ethernet cord into the CPU.

  • HT1933 My ex-boyfriend stole my email address and credit card information to make purchases with Apple and now my Apple ID account has a balance. Is there any way I can retract the purchases so I don't have to pay for his theft of my information?

My ex-boyfriend stole my email address and credit card information to make purchases with Apple and now my Apple ID has a balance. Is there any way I can retract the purchases so I don't have to pay for his theft? I had no idea he had done this until I tried to sign in to the ITunes store and found all his information and a whole bunch of song purchases. I had to go to my email and reset everything. I only have a 2.10 balance due to him, but I just want to find out if there is a way to erase it because of this circumstance.

You need to immediately pull credit reports to see what else he has done.  Then "freeze" the credit report at all three agencies.  That way even you need to lift the freeze to add credit cards or other credit items to your SSN.

  • I have had a dot mac account for years. Do is still have to pay anything for this?

I have had a dot mac account for years, with my family also having .mac email addresses and me having to pay for it each year. It then changed to me.com and then icloud? Do i still have to pay anything for this if i just want the email addresses? Or do i only have to pay when i want extra icloud storage?

Thanks Csound. For storing stuff like Imovie (using the Theatre service) Is the icloud storage the best, most cost effective way or are there other (cheaper/better) palces to store movies in the 'Cloud'? thanks again

Take it in and see what the technicians say is wrong and then how they want to handle the iPhone.  If the iPhone has a problem covered by the warranty then you should have no problems.

If you want to use your current ID you will either have to provide a credit card or redeem an iTunes gift card.  Otherwise you can create a new ID without a credit card to purchase free apps by following this exactly as written: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht2534.

  • How do I send a laptop in to HP for repairs?

I have an HP Pavilion laptop with a cracked screen. This is the second time the screen has cracked. The first time we had an HP tech come to the house to repair it. He seemed somewhat inexperienced and nervous and had difficulty getting the display opened up to pop in a new LCD. Apparently he must have damaged something internal in the process, which went undetected until the second time the screen cracked and had to go in for repairs. So this time I brought it to Staples, where the tech services guy was very helpful and was able to get the screen popped in no trouble, but now the laptop won't turn on. He said it's an internal hardware issue and not a hard drive or battery one, because when the laptop is plugged in, the power-source light is on signaling that the computer is plugged in (and he tested the hard drive for problems; the OS and data are intact and the drive works fine).
What the Staples guy also found was that the plastic display casing had been held together with electrical tape (probably from the first guy who repaired it a few years ago) and that in the process of the first guy prying open the screen, some internal component (he didn't say what) had gotten bent; most likely this was the culprit preventing the laptop from turning on. I left the laptop at Staples for a few weeks while they ordered a new "part" in hopes of getting it up and running again. They just called this morning to say they'd installed the new "part" but that it still wasn't turning on. I'll be going to Staples later this afternoon to pick it up. I am not ready to let it go to the dustbin and want to try sending it to HP in hopes that they can fix it in a factory environment. I don't know if it's still under warranty (got it as a Christmas gift in 2010), but am able and willing to pay extra even if it's not.
I searched online to find out how to mail in a computer for factory repairs and got this page:
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?cc=us&lc=en&dlc=en&docname=c00064570
...titled "Preparing Notebook for Mail-In Service at an HP Certified Service Center." On that page is a paragraph with information on how to contact HP for a service request:
How to schedule a service repair
For service in Canada and the United States, contact HP to schedule a repair with a certified HP service center. The HP agent will determine if the HP notebook PC needs to the repaired at a service center. If a repair is needed, they will schedule a pick-up of the notebook PC. The repair generally takes 5-10 business days including shipping.
I'm on the service page now but I don't know firsthand the make and model of the computer. I just know it's an HP Pavilion Ultrabook (obviously I can't run the auto-detect tool because I'm not on that computer). Although I don't know if Ultrabook is the proper term for it; when I got it, I thought it said Ultrabook but maybe is just a "slimline notebook" if there is such a thing. (It has a 14" screen and no internal disc drive or numeric keypad. I figured small-form laptops without disc drives and numeric keypads were called ultrabooks but maybe I'm mistaken.) The search form gives only one result for "Ultrabook" for the U.S., and I know that's not my model. I know it's not a netbook either. Is it just a regular laptop without the extra amenities, then?
TL;DR, I know, but what I'm hoping is that someone can provide me with a phone number or that I can call to get general support and request a mail-in repair service (and maybe inform me of a way to image a hard drive that needs to stay in the machine that can't turn on to run a backup program). If it turns out that the laptop is DOA, I'll just see if I can get an identical model through Amazon (or even if I have to go through eBay -- HP in their "infinite wisdom" doesn't offer affordable Windows 7 models anymore, which sücks just as much as Microsoft's useless replacement does). Right now I just need to get this baby STAT into the ICU.
EDIT: The left hinge on the laptop has also come loose, as another user described in this forum post:
    http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Hardware-Upgrades-Replacements/Hinges-problem/td-p/3945328
Presumably this has something to do with it too, as that user also said the screen hinges were wonky and the computer wouldn't turn on. (Possibly that "part" the Staples guy mentioned also has something to do with the hinge, or they're two separate problems just part of a coincidence.)
    This question was solved.

  • HT202696 What happens if Apple Support expires for a product?  Does it mean there is no more help available and you are on your own just because you have an older Apple product?

We have a family of Apple products at home, and with every new one, we learn a new aspect of the Apple Life.  After switching to iPhone 5S and struggling between some applications, I've decided it is time to upgrade rest of my older devices requesting an IOS Upgrade to 8.1.2 for weeks.
My older iPhone 4 didn't have an upgrade, which was not advanced enough anymore to carry a new software, this I understand.  The upgraded iPod Touch and iPad Mini don't seem to have any problems with the recent changes so far.  However, the older iPad (2) we had is messed up, just like many other people's as mentioned on the pages of these discussion groups.  According to these user comments / complaints, it is obvious that upgrading to IOS 8.1.2 was not the right option to older version iPads just like it was not for iPhone 4; actually it shouldn't be an option in the first place.
On my previous problems with iPhone 5S, I've come to realise the practicality & functionality of the Apple Support system when contacted directly, instead of going through many discussion pages of people with same or similar problems where everybody is asking but just a few is replying.  So, I wanted to give it a try to find a solution to my recent problems with iPad, but this time Apple Support pages replied with "Technical Support & Service Coverage are both Expired" message.
First, I did not know that Apple supported its users personally, and I loved it.  Maybe this is because I didn't have previous problems with my old iPhone and iPad.  Especially the Apple Support - Chat option I preferred, where I got help step-by-step from Apple operators.  And then, I did not know that this service support was only for my devices until an expiration date, and this did not please me much.
Can anyone enlighten me on how to receive any response from Apple about what to do with problems of an old Apple device?

And as far as paying for phone support, here are a few tips:
If you call your carrier first and then they route you to Apple, you usually don't have to pay for phone support.
If you are talking to Apple and they ask you to pay a support fee, ask if you can get an exception this time.  That usually works once, but they keep track of the times you've been granted such an exception.
If you still end up paying the support fee, that fee only applies if it's not a hardware related issue.  In other words, if it can be fixed by just talking over the phone and following Apple's instructions, then the fee applies.  But if your device is deemed to have a hardware failure that caused the issue, then the fee should not apply, and you can ask for it to be waived after the fact.
This forum is free, and almost all of the technical support articles the Apple tech advisors use are available on this website.  Literally 99% of what they can do over the phone is just walking you through the publicly available support articles.  In other words, you're paying the fee to have them do your research for you.  It's like hiring a research consultant to go look stuff up in the public library so you don't have to.  You're capable of doing it; you'd just rather pay someone to do it for you.
It's like Starbucks.  You know how to make coffee.  Everyone knows how to make coffee.  And Starbucks coffee isn't any better than what you could make at home for far less.  But you want the convenience.  So you're really paying a convenience fee.  Milk is more expensive at 7-Eleven than it is at the grocery store... because it's a convenience store.

  • Why do we have to buy mountain lion when we bought lion? Others who didn't purchase lion don't have to pay for it to move to mountain lion

why do we have to buy mountain lion when we bought lion? Others who didn't purchase lion don't have to pay for it to move to mountain lion.

As far as I know the only people not having to pay for Mountain Lion are the ones that have purchased a apple computer after the 4th of june or something. These people get a free upgrade. All others will have to pay for a copy of Mountian Lion.
Do you maybe have a source, which states that others don't have to pay for it, where people that have bought Lion do have to pay?
    With kind regards,

  • How do I keep my husbands apps from appearing on my device? While at the same time sharing content so we don't have to pay twice for music and apps?

How do I prevent my spouse's apps from appearing on my device, and visa versa while at the same time sharing music and apps so that we don't have to pay twice?

Okay.  Your personal iCloud account really isn't involved here.   If apps purchased on another person's device are automatically downloading to your device, it's because you have Apps turned on under Automatic Downloads in Settings>iTunes & App Store.  If you turn it off, the downloads will stop.  If desired, also turn off Music and Books to prevent these from automatically appearing on your device when purchased by someone else.
You can then control which of these, if any, you download to your device by selectively download them from your purchased list as explained here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2519.  As long as everyone is sharing the same Apple ID for their purchases, they will all appear on this list.
As far a music organization, you should be sure all your music is in your iTunes library on your computer.  You can then create the playlists you want and sync them to your device using iTunes.

  • Does anyone know if I would have to pay to upgrade OS X Lion to the OS X Mountain Lion?

Hey, I am looking at buying a Mac Pro but have just seen thaat Apple has a new OS X Mountain Lion coming out htis winter.... Does Anyone know if I would have to pay to upgrade from OS X Lion to the OS X Mountain Lion?  Sorry this will be my first Mac and I would like to buy it with the latest OS.  I would hate to buy now then a newer OS comes out...  Can anyone help?

Well, as both hardware and software seem to be on an accelerating schedule of renewals, you might never buy a mac on that philosophy!
Apple normally offer a period of grace if an new OS comes out a month or so after a new purchase (i.e., you can get a free upgrade), but longer than that an you have to pay.
Of course, there's no compulsion to upgrade to the new OS just because it exists. Plenty of people are still running Leopard 10.5.8.

You need to ask Apple to reset your security questions; ways of contacting them include phoning AppleCare and asking for the Account Security team, clicking here and picking a method for your country, and filling out and submitting this form.
They wouldn't be security questions if they could be bypassed without Apple verifying your identity.
