If machines have been accidentally deleted from a collection is there any way for SCCM to automatically recover them?

Is there a setting to do so? Also, along these lines is there a way to set SCCM to automatically delete PC's in a collection if they have been inactive for a certain period of time?
Thank you
Bryan

Whether or not machine records are in a collection doesn't matter.  When a machine record is deleted from the console it is essentially deleted from the database.  SCCM can't recover what was deleted the way you describe, but
the machine records will come back after the machines execute their next heartbeat discovery.
And yes, there are site maintenance tasks that run to remove inactive clients, but they are not enabled by default.

I have an iPhone 4S and when I try to add an iCloud account is gives me an error "Cannot Sign In, The maximum number of free accounts have been activated on this iPhone." Is there any way to deactivate an account? I have one for myself, one for my family and one for my work. I had all three on my iphone and then I deleted my work. I wanted to get my own person @me.com account. It wouldn't let me create it from my iphone, so I created it from my Macbook Pro. I am trying to add it to my iphone, but it keeps giving me that error. If there is a way I can deactivate my work one so I can use my @me.com personal account?

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
Unfortunately once all the 3 iCloud accounts have been created on your mobile device, you cannot create any more regardless of what you do. You will need to re-use one of the accounts that you have already created or create your new account on another device or computer.
You should however be able to add existing accounts to your device, are you sure you aren't trying to create on rather than simply use an existing one.

  • I accidentally deleted my trash. Is there any way to undo it/recover the data?

Unfortunately, I don't have Time Machine set up on my MacBook Pro. And I can't do a "Cmd+z" because I've already performed other actions.
I had probably 50-100 GB worth of .mov files. I don't have them backed up anywhere else. I have Lion, but I'm not sure if that will be of any help because I didn't have the files open in a program that would use the "versions" or "autosave" features.
I already contacted Apple, and they said they couldn't legally recover the data because the trash has already been emptied, whatever that means.
Is there anything I can do to recover these files?
Also, are there any proven data recovery programs for Mac that will get the job done?
    Thanks!

First, stop doing anything with the computer that had these files.
Second, there are programs that can recover data.  How effective they are is based upon many factors that can't be listed here.  One of those factors is how much work you have done with the computer after deleting the files.
I have had success with Data Rescue.  Past experience does not guarantee future results.
You will need a second hard drive to save any recovered data.

  • I lost my contacts, texts etc after syncing my phone to itunes for first time since 2012, now all I have is info. starting from 2012.  Is there any way to recover the contacts, texts etc that I have lost for the last 2 years? So ticked off at apple!

I am hoping that someone can help me understand how it can be so easy to lose the last 2 years data on an iphone by synching to itunes for the first time since 2012?  If this happens from itunes automatically overwriting your phones system why would'nt there be warnings and red sirens going off on your phone?  Can somone please let me know if this lost data is recoverable and maybe even let me know how to recover it?
    Thank you

Glad to help!  The reply you got was very generic and didn't completely address your questions.
Basically, all it said was to restore your backup.  What I addressed was your query about how and why this happened. iTunes did give you prompts and warnings. And if you'd used iTunes back in 2012, then you'd have lost much less data when you made the incorrect selection.
Do you have an iCloud backup?  Were you backing up your device at all?
I just found it amusing that you were 'ticked off at Apple' when Apple didn't cause this problem.  You did.
    Have a great day!

  • HT1338 I have MacBook with OS 10.5.8. Is there any way for me to install and run keynote on this machine? Do I need to upgrade OS and how? Thanks

I have MacBook with OS 10.5.8
Is there any way for me to install and run Keynote on this machine? Thanks

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
Keynote '09 is compatible with your computer, but you won't get the latest Keynote version running that version. As you have an Early 2008 MacBook, first I recommend you to update to Mac OS X Snow Leopard to get newer versions of all applications but without losing any applications > http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC573/mac-os-x-106-snow-leopard Make a backup before upgrading.
The DVD contains Mac OS X 10.6.3, so after upgrading, open  > Software Update to update to 10.6.8. Then, you will get access to the App Store.
However, the Keynote version available in the App Store is only compatible with OS X 10.7.5 or newer, so now you have two options:
    1. Upgrade to OS X Lion and purchase Keynote from the App Store.
    2. Keep Mac OS X Leopard or Snow Leopard, and buy Keynote on a DVD in eBay or Amazon. Note that you won't be running the most recent Keynote version, but it doesn't mind (the latest version only adds iCloud support)

  • I purchased my iPad in your London store on 20th May 2012, serial no. DM*******J8T. I have been purchasing apps from the London store,  without any problems.

    Sirs,
I purchased my iPad in your London store on 20th May 2012, serial no. DM*******J8T. I have been purchasing apps from the London store, without any problems. Last week, however, receiving a prompt that updates were available, I logged on hoping to update, which resulted in the following window:
    >Account not in this Store.
Your account is not valid for use in the US Store.
You must switch to the UK Store before purchasing.<
I have done nothing to facilitate this change in stores and have  no way of knowing how to switch back to the UK store.
This is a recent development, I have not had any problems connecting to the UK store before, in fact it happened automatically. Can the fact that I am not actually in the UK now but spend most of my time in Indonesia? This has not effected my purchases from the UK store before, however.
    Please help.
    Best regards,

    Hello bigali,
Your options are kinda limited. I would use this first:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and ...
Then check here for the non-purchased items:
    https://discussions.apple.com/thread/2452022
You want to rebuild the library first, then sync the ipod.
Here is a good idea for when your done:
How to back up your media in iTunes
    Hope this helps.

  • I have an iphone and my daughter has an ipod.  She has all my contacts showing up on her ipod.  I deleted them and now they are gone from both.  is there any way of retreiving this deleted information.

I have an iphone and my daughter has an ipod.  She has all my contacts showing up on her ipod.  I deleted them and now they are gone from both.  is there any way of retreiving this deleted information.

When you share an iCloud account, any data you sync with the account is merged, and any actions you take on one device (such as deleteing contacts) is synced to all other devices sharing the account.  To avoid this, each person's device(s) should have a separate iCloud account with a separate ID.  (You can continue to share your iTunes account; it does not need to have the same ID as the one used for iCloud.)
To create separate icloud accounts, decide which iPhone will be keeping the current iCloud account.  On the one that will be changing accounts, go to Settings>iCloud, scroll to the bottom and tap Delete Account.  (This will only delete the account from this phone, not from iCloud.  The phone that will be keeping the account will not be effected by this.)  When prompted about what to do with the iCloud data, be sure to select Keep On My iPhone.  Next, set up a new iCloud account using a different Apple ID (if you don't have one, tap Get a Free Apple ID at the bottom).  Then turn iCloud data syncing for contacts, etc. back to On, and when prompted about merging with iCloud, choose Merge.  This will upload the data to the new account.
Finally, to un-merge the data you will then have to go to icloud.com on your computer and sign into each iCloud account separately and manually delete the data you don't want (such as deleting the other person's contacts from your account, and vice versa).
As for recovering the deleted contacts, you can try restoring her phone from her most recent backup.  This may recover the contacts, however it often doesn't.  Restoring to an iCloud backup has to be done in the initial setup process.  If she have any data on your phone now that is not in the backup that she wants to save she will need to do that first.  Then go to Settings>General>Reset and tap Erase All Content and Settings.  You will then go through the setup screens as you did when the phone was new. When given the option, choose Restore from iCloud Backup.  Be sure you are connected to wifi and your charger as this will take some time to finish.

  • I accidentally formatted my portable hard drive when setting it up for time machine. Is there any way for me to get back my lost files?

I have an external hard drive of the brand Western Digital.
Before I got my iMac I moved a lot of my important files from my PC to the hard drive and today I went on and connected it to my iMac to move my files over to it.
When it had connected a window popped up that asked if I wanted to use this hard drive with the program Time Machine and create backups. Without thinking it trough enough and reading the warning properly (I'm stupid I know) I clicked "yes". I then realised how stupid it was and cancelled the formatting of the hard drive. But somehow the program still managed to delete all my important files and can't find any way to get them back. Neither can I connect the hard drive to my PC anymore so I can't check if the files are still there (which I doubt they are since I can't see them on my iMac either).
And now I wonder: is there any way for me to get back my lost files or are they lost forever?
    Thank you in advance!
    //Gina

A data recovery specialist or some data recovery programs should be able to help.  Most format simply rewrite the directory tree saying no files are on this disk.  The bits that represent the files are still flipped appropreiately so they still exists, you just don't have the location info to get at them.  Secure formats and erases rewrite each bit to a zero or 1 or random so the data is then truely gone.  This type of format takes a long time to complete.
I'm not making a recomendation of a particular program but here is one company that does what you ask:
http://www.remosoftware.com/mac-recovery  The cost is pretty high but I'm sure they don't sell many copies and need to cover their development costs.
Good luck and don't write anything on the freshly formatted disk until you decide what to do.

  • HT4528 I have accidentally restored my phone back to factory settings and lost my contacts, photos, and apps.  I have retrieved my apps via itunes but is there any way to reverse this to get my contacts and photos back?

I have accidentally retored my phone back to factory settings and lost my contact list, photos and all.  I have retrieved my apps via itunes but is there any way to reverse this so I can get my photos and contact list back?

Some accident with all the steps and warning messages provided.
All contacts on your iPhone should be available on your computer. Not a good idea to depend on an iPhone or any cell phone alone for such important data. Photos/videos in the Camera Roll should be imported by your computer as with any other digital camera.
Contacts and photos/videos in the Camera Roll should be included with your iPhone's backup which should have been created or updated by iTunes as the first step during the restore process - unless you declined the option.
If you declined the option, the data is gone. If not, restore your iPhone again from the backup that was created or updated before the previous restore.

  • I bought a used iPod touch and when I try to set up my iCloud account, it says that the maximum number of free accounts have been activated on this device. Is there a way around this?

I bought a used iPod touch and when I try to set up my iCloud account, it says that the maximum number of free accounts have been activated on this device. Is there a way around this? I thought I could maybe set up the account on my PC and go from there, but it won't let me do that. It is forcing me to set up on the iPod. Am I doomed to have no iCloud account because I opted for a used device?

  • I have a 2007 13" Macbook White. Is there any way to upgrade my OS from 10.6.8 to anything above 10.7?

I have a 2007 13" Macbook White. Is there any way to upgrade my OS from 10.6.8 to anything above 10.7? I keep getting an error message when I try to download 10.8.3 because Apple didn't make it compatible with my machine, but I really only need 10.7. So is there ANY possible way to do this with my current Macbook? Thanks for the help guys.

I have a 2007 13" Macbook White. Is there any way to upgrade my OS from 10.6.8 to anything above 10.7
According to these system requirements, no, there is no way to go higher than Lion (10.7), as Mountain Lion (10.8) will not be compatible.
    http://www.apple.com/osx/specs/
Also note that both Lion and Mountain Lion are memory hogs and the realistic minimum RAM should be 4 GB; you can run it with 2 GB, but depending on how you use your machine, you may not be happy with its performance.

  • My phone started erasing everything on it on its own! All my contacts have been erased even on icloud! Is there a way to get them back? How could that happen?

My phone started erasing everything on it on its own! All my contacts have been erased even on icloud! Is there a way to get them back? How could that happen? I thought I was 100% secure with Icloud but it does not seem the case! Now I have contacts retrieved form my email accounts but nothing from icloud!
    Please help!

Well with the contacts, if you had back up assistant or google back up then you may be able to retrieve them.If not then they are gone for good. Withe the message you ae getting about the space, since you cleared everything out and still get that message you might or actually need to do afactory reset thru settings. So make sure the apps you want are saved on your card or just do the reset and redownload the apps

  • I have an iphone and an ipad (which are connected by the same apple id) i broke the phone and sold it but i didnt get to factory reset it because it was broken, is there any way for me to wipe my iphone from my ipad?

i have an iphone and an ipad (which are connected by the same apple id) i broke the phone and sold it but i didnt get to factory reset it because it was broken, is there any way for me to wipe my iphone from my ipad?

    Try this:
Open the "Find my iPhone" app on your iPad, fill in your AppleID and password at the start up screen, and you should see a list of all your devices and their current location, if connected to a Wi-Fi or mobile data network. Devices not connected will be shown as "offline". But you can still trap on the icon and hit "erase iPhone" in the right hand window.
If your iPhone is not listed, you did not activate this feature during the setup of the phone and it can't be erased remotely.
If the phone is listed, even as offline, tap on "erase" to send the erase command. The next time your device will be connected to any kind of network, the content will be erased.

I have an old Sony Mavica   MVC-CD500 -  is there any way I can download cd to imac running Lion

If you use iPhoto, just insert the CD into your optical disc drive, wait for iPhoto to see the disc and open on its own.
iPhoto will load previews of all of your images from the disc.
In the lower right hand corner of iPhoto's application window, click the Import All button and iPhoto will begin downloading the images into iPhoto.
