IFS 1.1 WebDAV

I've installed IFS 1.1 on Solaris with a 8.1.7 database.
I succeeded to start the windows and webui interfaces and upload files in IFS.
I try now to connect a web folder since Win2000 explorer to implement the WebDAV protocol.
1) first, i can't connect a web folder to iFS.
2) Whose somebody have more information for the implementation of webDAV with iFS1.1 and how it works.
thanks in advance for your help

So am I, and did not find any help on metalink or any other document;
Could anybody who uses webdav on iFS 1.1.9 or 1.1.10 with M$ explain how he manage to connect to the webdav server ? Is there any special post install steps ?
Thank You

Hi,
I can't connect a web folder to iFS.
I'm using Ifs 1.1.9.0.7, on a Windows NT Server, and the database on AIX Oracle8i 8.1.7.
I'm trying to connect with a Windows NT Workstation (IE 5.5 + Web Folders) and Windows 2000 Professional clients.
I'm getting the same error.
Using the connection wizard with Windows 2000, i'm putting the URL: "http://ifsserver", the wizard ask for a user/password,i put the correct one.
i received a message...
"the name of the folder is incorrect."
"use another name"
I'm trying with "http://ifsserver/public", and a lot of names.., and i received the same message...
If i try to connect directly from the IE evething works fine.
Thank for your help.

  • IFS utilities in WebDav?

I installed IFS 1.1.6 on a Compaq Tru64 UNIX box and can map a Web Folder and Browse to the IFS using http://URL/ifs/files. The Web Folder (webDav) interface is clearly the better for my users since it is familar to all windows users and has multiple file drag and drop.
I would like to be able to use the iFS utilities (check-in,check-out,find) on the WebFolder, but I can't seem to get the Client IFS utilities to recoginize a webDAV mapped drive, it seems to need a network mapped drive. I can't map a network drive using \\IP_address\ifs\files which doesn't surprise me since the ifs agetns are on a UNIX box.
Is there a way to use the client IFS utilities on a Web Folder or am I trying to do something that is not supported? (Page 2-21 of the iFS 1.1 users guide indicates that it IS supported.) If it is not supported, will future releases support it? (1.2 is not out for Tru64 yet).
    Thanks,
    Trenton

    Luis,
Thanks for the advice. I checked that the SMB agent is running (it is) and I used the format \\ip_address\myhome but still could not find this share. (I can ping, telnet, and ftp to the UNIX server)
I added the line: netbios-ssn 139/tcp nbssn to my /etc/services file and bounced the network and ifs, but this didn't help (I find it strange that this step isn't mentioned anywhere in ifs setup, why not?).
Also, I added the correct Workgroup name to the smbserver.def file.
FYI: I am trying to map the network drive from W2K and Win NT 4 sp6a clients.
What should I check/try next? The IFS users, install and admin guides are not helpful on this topic.
    Thanks,
    Trenton

  • IFS and WebDAV

Can you tell me if/when iFS will support WebDAV?

being worked on as we speak, should be ready for our next release.
out of curiousity: what context would you be using it in (i.e., with what client(s))?

  • ANNOUNCEMENT: New in Oracle iFS 1.1

Oracle iFS version 1.1 will soon be released with Oracle8i Release 3 (8.1.7), so the product management team wanted to take the opportunity to let you know what's in our v1.1. The list includes:
    * NLS and MLS support. Oracle iFS now supports
8-bit and multi-byte character sets in
all components of the product, from the
repository through the protocol servers to
    the web and Windows UIs.
    * Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)
compliance. Oracle iFS is now conforms to
    ADA requirements.
    * WebDAV. Oracle iFS now supports WebDAV, the
new standard for collaboration across the
    Internet.
    * Parser framework improvements. We've added
some new capabilities to the parser
    framework, including the XML components.
    * DTD validation. One of these additions
    is XML DTD validation.
    * New Server Manager GUI. You now have a
graphical control panel in the Oracle iFS
    manager for administering procotol servers
    and agents.
    * Various bug fixes, performance enhancements, and documentation updates.
For details, see the What's New in Version 1.1 guide, included with the Oracle iFS documentation with its version 1. release.

We released to manufacturing our version 1.1 for Solaris, so as soon as Oracle8i Release Two (8.1.7) is available, we'll be part of that CD pack. We'll also be downloadable with the database from here on OTN. The NT port will be released in October, with other ports following afterward (exact dates not announced yet).

  • How to Integrate Office2000,Adobe Phototshop application with IFS

    hi ,
Requirement : How can i do Content Management Functionalities like(Checkin, checkout, make a file versioned, copyout, save, open, lock, unlock etc) while open/save a file using Open/SaveAs Dialog Of Desktop Application like Microsoft Word,PPT,XL,Adobe products like Phtoshop,Illustrator on Windows and Machintosh Environment?
My Thought : As Far as i know IFS supports a set of protocols (SMB,NTFS,WebDav,Http,IMAP,SMTP etc) and provides a set of API's which are exposed as Java API. I have seen the WinUI application that is provided by oracle for Explorer Integration. I want a application like that to be plugged in to All desktop products which can talk to Oracle IFS
    My Question:
    1. What are the customization required at Client OS Side/Desktop Application () side?
    2. What is the customization required at Server Side (Oracle IFS Side ) in terms of Custom classes, parsers,Agents ?
    3. Which protocols to use in client side to communicate and how ?
    4. Can u send me the Explorer Integration source Code in windows for my reference ?
    5. What is client side protocols and usages in Machintosh to connect to Oracle IFS ?
I think sombody at oracle or people oute there may have faced the same problems and aware of this ..
Please reply me in this regard at [email protected] as i urgently need the replies so that i can talk to my client ..
    regards

    Hi Alex,
    Thanks for your response.
I already created the system object R/3 Backend.
Actually some WebDynpro java applications/iViews are currently running on Portal. and the developers developed these in NWDS and deployed the .sca files on the Portal server and we created Webdynpro for java iViews.
but now the requirement is creation of webDynpro for ABAP views.
The developers developed  WebDynpro for ABAP on the R/3 system. So what are the parameter values we need to give at teh time of creation of  WebDynpro for ABAP iview like the Namespace, Application name etc which are mandatory values and how the Portal server detects the application, this means no need to deploy the application on the Portal server?
Shall we need to maintain any JCo Destinations or not?
    Pl share your ideas.
    ADV Thanks
    Regards

  • OCS10g + CS beta - Problem with WebDav / ODrive

    Hello
I have an OCS 10.1.1.0.2 with and CSBeta 10.1.2.
I have a login problem with webdav using Oracle Drive or MSWebFolders : login does not work, and I get the following lines (see below) in the application.log.
Of course, the user I'm using HAS an ftp password defined (well at least I did define it several times to be sure, on the CS web ui ). Other users work.
    Any clue ?

The FdkException detailed error is misleading - it has nothing to do with FTP passwords not being set.
Essentially, what is happening is that we are first trying to lookup the user in OID and get from them the authpassword;orclcommonpwd attribute and in particular the value of X- ORCLIFSMD5. For some reason, this is not set for your user - or at least it is not returning anyway. Then we are reverting over to check for an application specific version of the authpassword attribute - which also does not return any value for X- ORCLIFSMD5.
The only way these verifiers can be set is by authenticating with cleartext as the end-user in question. This could be done by logging in via SSO for example.
I would try doing an ldapsearch against OID from the realm's user search base for your user in question. Check to see if the authpassword verifiers are set. If they are not set, try authenticating via SSO as the user to some application - and then once again run the ldapsearch to see if the verifiers were generated. once the authpassword;orclcommonpwd verifiers are generated for X- ORCLIFSMD5, you should be able to authenticate via Oracle Drive through DAV.
    thanks,
    Matt.

  • Check In using webdav

    Hi,
I intend to use the webdav interface to check in documents. I have defined mandatory custom attributes whose values vary a lot from document to document.
Is it possible to supply a check-in form to the user, so that it can fulfil the values of the attributes when using the webdav interface?
This functionality exists in Oracle Drive/Content DB. Is there any thing similar in Content Server webdav?
    Thanks,
    Miguel

I do not think this is supported in the current release of iFS.

  • How can I log the webdav

My server is 9ias9.0.2 + 9ifs9.0.2 on w2k. I want to see the logs when I run the webdav. Can you tell me which kind of commands are needed to set up the logs on webdav?
Thank you in advance for your time and your helps.

Thank you for your suggestion. It truely does work. What I want to know is something like below. My OS is win2000, application server is 9ias9.0.2 and 9ifs9.0.2. Your advice is highly appreciated.

i've set the following parameter in
    "../Apache/Jserv/etc/ifsprops.properties":
    # Arguments passed to Java interpreter (optional)
    # Syntax: wrapper.bin.parameters=[parameters] (String)
    # Default: NONE
    wrapper.bin.parameters=-DIFS_DAV_DEBUG=true
Then i'restart the whole 9iFS with:
    ifsJservctl -stop
    ifsstopdomain
    apachectl stop
    apachectl start
    ifslaunchdc
    ifslaunchnode
    ifsstartdomain
    ifsJservctl -start

  • Cannot Edit Documents Through WebDAV

We have recently installed 9ias (infra902 + mid902) on RH Linux AS 2.1, added some recommendated patches, installed mid903 on same server. So far, everything seems to be working fine. I am in the process of building and setting up some portal pages and want to expose the WebDav functionality to our users instead of having them download and upload documents. I connected to dav_portal/portal and was able to successfully see and open the documents. But after editing them, I was not able to save them back because they were read-only. I tested this with text, Word, and Excel documents. I compared the oradav.conf file to the one in Note:207548.1 How to configure and test WebDAV for Portal 9.0.2. I am using a Win2000 machine with Office2000. Is there some
    configuration/setup I am missing?

Yes, it works fine through copy/paste. But it asks my username and password when I open the Web Folder, even if I have a session opened in the web UI or in my iFS application.

  • Setting IFS Windows share (O drive ) to read-only

    Hi
I was wondering what is required to make the Windows node (O drive) read only for all users when they access it from Windows Explorer.
Is it just a question of, in IFS Manager, setting the Node(myserver:53141) to the ACL "Protected"?
Any help will be most welcome.
    Thanks
    Hugo

Is your host on a Windows machine or a Linux/Unix machine? If the later perhaps you could use SMB for your Windows mounts and map all users to an account that was restricted to read-only. This way users could use WebDAV for full priviledge access but the O:\ mounts (by Samba) would be read-only.
If your server is Windows, I'm not sure how to fool Windows but perhaps some Windows guru can tell us.

  • Using WebDAV without the WebUI

We are running iFS 9.0.2 and want to be able to access our Oracle 9iFS repository via WebDAV without using the WebUI.
There are some references to DavServerConfigurations in Appendix C of the Setup and Admin guide but we need a working example.
Does anyone have any experience of running WebDAV in this way ?

I have taken a closer look at this and what we would like to be able to do is run the WebDAV servlet in our own container rather than having to run the OC4J_iFS container.
We have developed our own OC4J application which accesses the Oracle iFS repository and which already references http.jar etc. where the WebDAV servlet is. We thought it would be possible to set this up and run it within the context of our application. I raised a TAR on this and Oracle responded saying that it was not possible to run the WebDAV servlet outside of the OC4J_iFS container.
I would be interested in hearing if anyone has had any different experiences.

  • Need iFS http-client/http-servlet architectural advice.

I need to design a custom client to connect to an iFS http protocol server in order to allow users of my client to drop document objects (files) on iFS and modify properties (metadata) of those document objects.
In other words, my client connects to iFS via http, and lets the user upload "files" to iFS, but more importantly, also lets the user enter values for custom properties associated with the class objects corresponding to the iFS document objects being uploaded.
Fo a while, WebDAV looked like a good solution. But I just discovered WebDAV does not allow me to access custom properties for an iFS object.
It looks to me now that my only alternative is to also write a custom servlet and have my custom client connect to that servlet. This is not desireable from a product viewpoint since it requires special installation at the server.
My custom client is to be integrated in an already existing application that manages files, so I really need to write my own special client. I cannot use the WebUI.
Any idea, tips, or advice from the iFS gurus would be greatly appreciated.
Is there any way to avoid the custom servlet approach. For instance, is there some existing agent or servlet that I can just send XML requests to ?

    What version are you running?
If 9iFS v9.0.2 or prior you may be able to achieve what you are after by use of XML files that would update metadata of an existing 9iFS object.
CM SDK v9.0.3 and later only supports parsing of XML from the CUP protocol - so you would be out of luck here.
Your best bet it to write the custom servlet unfortunately.
There is an enhancement filed for the CM SDK WebDAV servlet to allow hooks that will enable you to do your own processing throughout the transaction.
    Matt.

  • Using iFS

I have a project requirement and I want to validate that iFS can be used to implement it. THe requirements in brief as are follows.
I am supposed to develop a web based document management system.
I have to create a file system so that people from various departments can view and edit the documents and forward it to the next department to complete the chain of events.
The original document itself is a word document containing forms and questionnaires. I am supposed to provide a web interface for all the forms and fields and allow each department to modify it, save the modified copy and forward the copy to the next department etc..
I was initially planning to use HTML/Servlet/JSP until someone told me that Oracle iFS does most of what I wanted. My question is what do I have to do to present the document in HTML format? Do I have to write my own renderer? Are there samples of renderers etc. What is the best way for me to store the data (write my own parser or convert into XML format). Any suggestion would be appreciated.

You seem to be picking a strange solution. If your going to use Word to store the items you are working on a Browser based application does not make sense. A browser cannot edit a word document without Word being installed on the same computer as the browser. Also, when word is used to edit a file downloaded from a website the file is stored on the local hard drive and editied there. In order to upload the changes the file needs to be sent back to web server in some manner. Word cannot do this.
If you convert to HTML what are you going to use to edit the documents. Again the Browser will not allow you to save changes made.
If you want a Web based app, ditch word. Go with iFS, create custom content types for you survey's and capture information as XML
If not, consider using SMB or WebDAV in conjuction with Word. Both of these protocols will allow users to edit the documents with Word.

  • Decesion service connecting to wrong WebDav repository

    Hi,
I have a bpel process with decesion service which points to a webDAv repository.
I want to figure out how can we point to a diffrent WebDav repository other than the one that i connected to from the Jdeveloper at the time of development.
As far as i know there is only 2 file which has the Webdav repository connection parameters
    processname\bpel\decisionservices.decs
    and
    processname\decisionservices\DecisionService\war\WEB-INF\classes\decisionservices.xml
Is there any othe file i need to change so that the process acn be connected to a different WebDav repository?
I can deploy this process using ant in development/test/production environments. But irrespective of the deployed environment , the process always connects to the Webdav repository i used for development.
I am sure somebody out there has faced the same issue.
    Thanks,
    Hanis Thomas

Where did you get the JDBC library that you're using? It seems like it may be an old version. Copy the one from your database machine, where iFS is installed and running as a server, and bring it over to your client/development machine. It's located in $ORACLE_HOME/jdbc/lib -- you'll need classes111.zip if you're using JDK1.1 and classes12.zip if you're using JDK1.2.

  • WebDAV and ACLs

I'm writing some software that uses WebDAV to access data on iFS. I would like to be able to retrieve ACL data with WebDAV calls, but I can't see how to do this. Although I can retrieve file properties (with the PROPFIND method), they don't seem to include any ACL data.
There is a proposed extension to WebDAV that covers ACLs (see http://www.webdav.org/acl/). It outlines an additional ACL method (a WebDAV HTTP extension) for retrieving ACL data. However, when I've tried this, I get a response 500 Internal Server Error, subsequent WebDAV requests get a 503 Service Unavailable, and I have to re-start server-side processes!
Is there any way to retrieve ACLs from iFS with WebDAV?

    Thanks, Matt.
It would be nice if sending an unsupported request didn't crash anything. Try opening a telnet connection to the relevant port and sending this:
    ACL /some/file/that/exists HTTP/1.1
    Host: whatever
                                         <-- blank line
I would expect the response 501 Not Implemented, but I get 500 Internal Server Error, further requests give 503 Service Unavailable, and I have to re-start things.
