Illustrator CS4 problem loading: unable to set max files...

Haven't opened AI CS4 in a few months. Used to load just fine. Today it crashes when loading and I get this error message: 'Unable to set maximum number of files to be opened.' I'm running OS 10.4.11 on a MacBook. The rest of the CS4 suite opens just fine. I have already removed the preference file for Illustrator out of the user library and also removed the 'com.adobe.illustrator.plist' file. Restarted computer. Still can't open the program.

shown when the text is rendered. It looks as if it effect the HTML
rendering of the text. The Nordic characters are still not showing
but instead the small square placeholders for the characters are
gone.
Am I doing it wrong, or is there a work around for solving
this problem?

I can't open a new Illustrator file. It sends me this error: Can't create a new illustration. Problems occurred while saving the print file. ID:-1
I opened a previous document created in CC, but it will not allow me to copy and paste items from one doc to another.
I have rebooted with no avail.

Mac Book Pro 2012
2.6 GHz Intel Core i7
8 GB 1600 MHz DDR3

Is a printer connected? Is it turned ON? Is the driver up to date?
Illustrator checks this every time and also writes information on the printer into the file.

I have downloaded the script to load the multiple page of pdf file.
I tried loading the multiple page PDF file via File Menu -> Scripts -> Other Script...
After executing the script file -> Browse and enter the page number - > OK
The PDF file is looks like created from word document. There are total 120 pages in this file.
PDF file size is 20 MB.
I'm still searching for the solutions. Please help me.

Illustrator won't run: "unable to set maximum number of files to be opened"

I have an intel macbook pro (core duo with 2GB ram) and a copy of purchased adobe creative suite 2. Other applications in the suite like photoshop, acrobat, etc can run on my mac without any problem. But when I try to run illustrator, it just shows an error message "Unable to set maximum number of files to be opened" and quits. I also installed a trial version of illustrator cs3 and got the same problem. Can anyone help? Thanks.

Drag and drop to Adobe Illustrator CS4 problem

Hi! It's about one week that I've got a problem with drag & drop images (and also other files) in Illustrator.
The problem is persistent for every kind of file and also when i drga&drop from Adobe Bridge i've got the same problem.
Please, someone has an idea about "why"?
There's in Illustrator an option or a setting that I can verify to solve this question?

- all file types... i.e. : if I drag&drop a .jpg file from desktop to AI... nothing! Also when I D&D an image from Bridge... All others programs work perfectly.
That's all... I've also verified parameters & C. and search on the web for a solution, but I've found nothing of relevant...

Illustrator CS4 Error loading photoshopimport.aip

After I update system to Yosemite 10.10.2.....
I got a great problem with Illustrator CS4 which can't link to photoshop tif eps psd...........
I get the message "Error loading plugins". The plugin in question is "photoshopimport.aip".
I had re-installed all CS4 but still not work.
That mean I can't do my job by CS4 any more....OMG
I haven't use time machine......how can I go back the to systemX 10.9 ?

CS4 was - I don't know - 5 years ago?
In the meantime Apple has changed the development platform (you need software to develop other software) at least once. It would be kind of an effort to update all the old code. You first need to port it to the new development platform then update what doesn't work then go through all the testing etc. etc.
Kind of like the old yearbook you did back in the days in Quark XPress 3 and now that you have long switched to InDesign they ask you to dig that up to change some of the images and fix those 7 typos in the articles. I mean why do you charge that much for it, should be done in 20 minutes.

Illustrator CS4 problem placing large files

I don't know if this is a new option I need to set in illustrator CS4 or if this is a bug but when I try to place large tif files into illustrator (larger than 15mb) it just doens't do anything. No error message or dialogue. Just acts like you never placed the file. Has anyone else experienced this problem?

When I get back to the States I will I am in Amsterdam today but I will look at it on wednesday but I have placed such fiels both flattened and layered tiffs.
The only thing it will not place is 16 bit tiffs, it should automatically convert them to 8 bit but let me see what it does with 16 buit tiffs that are linked.

Illustrator CS4 problem with server

Hi,
I'm currently using Illustrator CS4 on OX Snow leopard (10.6.2). While I'm connected remotely to a server using VPN tracker 6, Illustrator will freeze whenever I try to open or save a file. It only does this when connected to this specific server and no other adobe application is affected (Photoshop, InDesign). If I disconnect to the server while Illustrator is frozen when opening/saving, it will immediately resume whatever its doing like nothing was wrong.
Has anyone encountered a similar problem? I could just run Illustrator while not connected to the server but thats very inconvenient.

One of my users is having a similar issue. If he is connected to our VPN from home, he can't fully launch Illustrator. I would assume that Illustrator would cease to work if he connected to the VPN after launching. He is running 10.5.8 and CS3 with a cisco VPN connected through a web interface. The work around to use one or the other is there, but you're correct saying it's inconvenient. Anyone know a fix on either the Mac end or Illustrator?

Illustrator cs4 problem

I recently upgraded my late 2006 iMac to 4 gigs of RAM ( the computer however can only address up to 3GB with 4GB installed). All of the sudden Adobe Illustrator CS4 displays the dreaded spinning wait cursor once I open a new document after the program is launched after startup and login. This snag does not prevent me starting working with a new document but is nonetheless obnoxious. What is the root cause of the problem and is there any way fix it?

The first thing I'd try is Disk Utility-Repair Disk Permissions.
If that doesn't do it then do both a SMC and PRAM reset. Here are the instructions:
_SMC RESET_
• Shut down the computer.
• Unplug the computer's power cord and all other peripheral cables.
• Press and hold the power button for 5 seconds.
• Release the power button.
• Attach the computers power cable.
• Press the power button to turn on the computer.
_PRAM RESET_
• Shut down the computer.
• Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command, Option, P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4.
• Turn on the computer.
• Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys. You must press this key combination before the gray screen appears.
• Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the second time.
• Release the keys.

Im having a problem in loading my csv file to the database. Im using Oracle Database 10g for Linux. Im in p. 228 in the book. This is my csv file look.

I'm not certain of the utility you are using to load the data, however, I completed the following test using SQL Loader to insert the data into my table. Your process should work similar if the trigger and sequence are created for the table you are loading.

Most probably you don't have passed the correct root= option to the kernel so that the kernel cannot, as it says, find its root device. Read the wiki page about refind in order to know how to configure it (https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/REFInd). Refind as no fully automatic configuration like grub.

Unable to set max for cookie

actually i am working on java ee6 web application i tried to set value and max age for the cookie...but i was uanble to set maxage what ever the max age value i give .it shows as -1.but my browser accepts and stores cookie.

A maxage of -1 indicates that its a browser cookie i.e. the cookie lasts as long as the browser which is usually the preferred approach for sessions. You have a bug somewhere in your code or the application server has some settings which kicks in when the response is sent.

Unable to set max log file size to unlimited

Hi all,
Hoping someone can give me an explanation of an oddity I've had. I have a series of fairly large databases. I wanted the make the database log files 8GB in size with 8GB growth increments with
unlimited maximum file size. So, I wrote the script below. It seems to have worked but the database max size doesn't show as unlimited, it shows as 2,097,152MB and cannot be set to unlimited using a script or in SSMS by clicking on the unlimited radio button.
2TB is effectively unlimited anyway but why show that rather than actually setting it to unlimited?

Been using Firefox 6 years with DSl. Recently have gotten nothing but the above messages - can't open any pages! Got a new DSL modem, re-downloaded Firefox and still can't open any pages - not even mozilla.com or google or cnn.
Rebooted, restarted, etc.
Even tried to download Chrome, but it failed - and I couldn't find out why because the "tell me why" defaulted to Firefox.
... really no fan of IE ...

Clear the cache and the cookies from sites that cause problems.
"Clear the Cache":
*Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Cached Web Content: "Clear Now"
"Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:
*Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: "Show Cookies"

You can try to reset (power off/on) the router.
Another possible cause is security software (firewall,anti-virus) that blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox and the plugin-container from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.
