Illustrator file just won't import, have no idea why

I go to Import the Illustrator file I want to import. I double click it and nothing happens and I have no idea why. I tried exporting them as different pngs for each layer and importing those, nothing happens. I tried exporting it as a .psd and importing those, nothing happens. I'm using After Effects 6.5 and Illustrator CS2. I thought it might be because the colour mode is CMYK, but I changed it to RGB and nothing happened. I tried saving it as Illustrator CS, didn't work.
Will having placed files in the Illustrator file cause this problem? Because I embedded them just in case. The most infuriating thing about this is I swear I've done this a million times before. I don't know what's different this time. I tried importing another Illustrator file and it worked. (it was also CS2, but didn't have any placed files). Oh and I've tried deleting the placed files, saved it and tried importing. Doesn't work.

Depending on the file system you use (FAT 16 on Windows or external drives?), the relative paths stored for the referenced files become too long. This causes a blockage in the operating system which prevents any program from reading or writing to those directories. It's a limitation in the filesystem itself, not the Adobe programs. Only using other filesystems (NTFS, HFS+) would avoid or at least minimize the issues.

Strange Files Appear on Desktop and I Have No Idea Why or What They Do.

Hello all,
For the past long while strange '.part' and '.pdf' files started appearing on my desktop and I have no idea why, how, or what they do/are for!
The files are just random strings of letters and numbers sometimes ending in .pdf, sometimes .part, sometimes both. Here is an example:
J0f0IS2p.jpg.part
qtz0MxdS.ai.part
_Z8WxpbN.pdf.part
My uniformed guess thinks it has something to do with Firefox and when I download something. I recently downloaded an Adobe Illustrator file from my email, and 'qtz0MxdS.ai.part' appeared on my desktop. it has an '.ai' in it. The '.pdf' files, I think, appear when I download .pdfs using Firefox.
Does anyone know why this happens and how I can stop it? I dont think/hope its not a serious issue or bug but it does get tedious deleting all these weird files. Thanks for your time!!

They occur when a Web-browser like firefox is the downloading a file. Some Web browsers download files with a different name than change to the real name when the download completes. having these funny names on your desktop means that the download did not complete or the download is presently occurring.
In firefox as you can press: command-j to see downloaded manager

Solved problem by converting to another file format.
The two that worked were .mov and MP4 that is .H264

Just to recap, this is a collection of ports I have collected over time for people who needed this information when setting up the HP ePrint app so that they could view their email from within the app. I am certain other applications also need this information. Although lengthy, I could not find a more comprehensive place to retrieve this information. Feel free to post additional information, faulty information, or other related topics below as this is simply a collection of data and it would be practically impossible to test all of them. I want you to have the ability to forward any needed emails! Let's review what trouble is preventing the messages from going out. Which device do you have that's not allowing the messages to be sent? What type of email account do you have? Are you able to create a new email and have that successfully send? I look forward to hearing back from you so we can can get this matter resolved.

My purpose for copying to a CD or DVD is so that I can make copies and send to friends and relatives. What is the best way to get these files on a CD/DVD with the right codecs?
The easiest thing to do is to simply tell your friends and relatives to copy the files to their local hard drive before playing them. Your basic problem is that data discs have a limited real time transfer rate. Since you say VLC plays the files fine, I might suspect its player is likely buffering the data while the QT 7 Player is not.
Data discs made for playback directly from the CD or DVD are normally encoded using MPEG-4/AVC (H.264) video with AAC audio. This is a modern codec which has specific settings to re-package the data (i.e., must be encoded using the multipass option and then select the "optimize for CD/DVD" option).

I found a way to fix it. Simply restart the dock by using "killall Dock" in the terminal.

Go to the App Store and check out the Purchases List. If iPhoto is there then it will be v9.6.1
If it is there, then drag your existing iPhoto app (not the library, just the app) to the trash
Install the App from the App Store.
Sometimes iPhoto is not visible on the Purchases List. it may be hidden. See this article for details on how to unhide it.

iPhoto the application and the iPhoto Library are two different parts of the iPhoto programme. So, reinstalling the app should not affect the Library. BUT you should always have a back up before doing this kind of work. Always.

You probably don't really need 1080 at 60 for your finished projects but since you're just starting out with Motion, you need to lower your expectations. A long way. 1080 is about 2 million pixels per frame, DV is only about 400,000. That's not just five times as many pixels for the Mac to track; everything in video is exponential.
Explore the training tutorials available by Mark Spencer. You will get an idea of how his super powerful machine reacts with the software.
Adding a light roughly doubles the processing time over flat scenes. Two lights increases processing again. Try working in ye olde DV resolution for a few days. Get to know the software's limitations and what gets imposed by your Macintosh. Step up to 720p/30 and see how things slow down.

Sometimes, when I am in iCloud mail one of my mail folders becomes a sub folder and I have no idea why. I've tried to move the sub folder to the left using my mouse but it won't move. I don't know whey this is happening and I don't know how to make the sub folder back to a folder. Please help.

OK, I was hoping that the problem would not effect a newly created folder. I'm not sure it fix the problem, but if you have already tried I would try going to System Preferences>iCloud, unchecking Mail, restarting your Mac, then go back and check Mail again. Then see if you can drag your subfolders to promote them to folders again. (Incidentally, you don't drag them to the left to do this, you drag them up above the folder they are under until the position indicator shows that it is promoted to a folder, then drop it.)
