Im having a big problem and I need help!!

Question

Hi everyone.I have a Ipod 4th generation and for some reason when i connected my Ipod to my computer Itunes did not appear which is the first issue.The second is my Ipod wont sync,but it will charge.Thirdly when I remove the USB cord to sync/charge the Ipod the computer shuts down?.Please someone help!! What version of Windows are you using?
Does it meet the minimum requirement which is Windows Vista or Windows XP Home or Professional with Service Pack 3?
