Ah, now i see that the folder has an icon on it - like a "settings" icon - sort of a wheel

I was so happy to receive my iphone5 today but, happiness turned into frustration. The new sim card was unlocked etc... The phone finally worked after 2 hrs or more and since I upgraded my itunes, the phone is blocked. It will only let me after being turned on unlock the phone. Once I get to ID apple and password, I can put it in but, then it says it has timed out. It also says I cannot connect to the server. What is going on???
I am in France and there is no Apple Store open on Sunday, my phone service is closed as well.
I hope somone can help me asap.
ThanksI think you can solve your problems by removing your AppleID email address from BOTH the Messages setting on your iPhone and the iMessages settings on your Mac.
On iPhone:
Settings > Messages > iMessage > Dissabled
Settings > Messages > Send & Receive > touch the "(i)" < touch "Remove This Email"
On Mac:
Open "Messages" application
Click "Messages menu > Preferences
Click "Accounts"
Select your AppleID account
Under the "You can be reached for messages at" settings, uncheck your AppleID email address and your phone number
Then uncheck the "Enable this account" setting
And lastly, ask all of your friends with iPhones to delete all iMessage conversations (blue bubbles) in their entirety.
To test, send a friend a new text using their phone number (not their email address) and watch the color of the bubble. If it's green then you are using SMS. -
Having trouble with CS 5.1 Photoshop. Im using a Mac Pro that was recently upgraded to Yosemite.
I tried to open Photoshop and an alert box said I needed to download JavaForOSX2014-001.dmg. After installing the downloaded file, I tried to open Photoshop again and was presented with another alert box that read: An unexpected and unrecoverable problem has occurred. Photoshop will now exit. Can you help with this

You should have previous versions registered there. Click on the triangle next to the product to see your serial number.
If you come up with nothing, you can call them and try a Challenge Code to unlock your upgrade.
Apparently, Adobe has a challenge code system. So, if you have the old serial number from the upgrade and you call customer support. Customer support has a challenge code procedure where they give you a code that overrides the problem. Unfortunately, it took me 5 calls to customer support before I founds someone who knew how to do it. The key term is "Challenge Code"

I recently added my old mac hard drive to a new macbook with an SSD as my main OSX drive. I am having trouble with permissions in viewing my old hard drive, when I save a permission when I reboot the full access is changed again . What is the best way to get complete access to my old hd installed in my new Macbook?
Open the Get Info window for the old drive. Click the Lock icon on the bottom of that window and type in your password. In the permissions area click the Plus sign ( + ) and Add your Username to it and set it to Read & Write. Close that window. you should now have full access to all the files.

So it's fairly simple. It checks for validity and then reads lines until it finds one with the first char as '1' when it finds it, it reads the rest of the line off.
The error I'm getting is as follows: Exception java.io.IOException must be caught, or it must be declared in the throws clause of this method.
I've added throws IOException to them in attempts to fix the error but to no avail. I've tryed putting the catch in different spots... again, doesn't work.
I'm using codewarrior IDE version 5. I'm fairly sure it's the newest. I installed Java SDK 1.3 with codewarrior originally but I installed 1.4.1 recently.
If you need to see anything else about it, please tell me. I'd be more than happy to post a little more if it'll help.

Having trouble with my iMac- on startup, the background screen appears, but no icons. The spinning beach ball appears for quite a long while, then when the icons finally come up, when I open a finder window, the only icons to appear are the Network and Macintosh HD icons. I've tried to repair disk permissions: this came up with heaps of errors, which it then fixed, but the original problem remains.
Any suggestions on how to fix this?

This procedure is a test, not a solution. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
Step 1
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account.
Enable guest logins and log in as Guest. For instructions, launch the System Preferences application, select Help from the menu bar, and enter “Set up a guest account” (without the quotes) in the search box. Same problem(s)?
After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault in Mac OS X 10.7 or later, then you can’t enable the Guest account. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.
Step 2
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. The instructions provided by Apple are as follows:
Be sure your Mac is shut down.
Press the power button.
Immediately after you hear the startup tone, hold the Shift key. The Shift key should be held as soon as possible after the startup tone, but not before the tone.
Release the Shift key when you see the gray Apple icon and the progress indicator (looks like a spinning gear).
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including wireless networking on certain Macs.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Same problem(s) in safe mode?
After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of steps 1 and 2. -

That sounds like a settings issue to me. Check with your IT depatment to make sure you have it configured properly.

Is anyone having trouble with iCloud email?
I am using iCloud for all of my mail. I use it on iCloud.com and also with iMail. I use it for my iPhone, iMac and MacBook Pro. For the past three days I have been having a terrible time receiving email from my personal friends. I can get email from commercial entities like DirectTV, Facebook, ASPCA, etc. but nothing when my friends try to email me. I have spent several hours on the phone with Apple advanced tech support but it's still not working and I am supposed to call them back today. After changing many settings, the tech told me it might be a corrupt email address and we would completely remove my email address from my computer and type it in fresh which we did. I then was able to send myself a test email and I did receive that. I am still able to send and receive to myself. I then went to my neighbor and did the same thing on his computer with my email address, removed it completely and then put it in anew. Then I sent myself an email from his computer but it didn't work. I haven't received the email. I have asked several people to email me today. I did not receive any of their emails but am still receiving emails from other entities. A friend of mine said they are having trouble with iCloud but when I asked the tech, he said he wasn't aware of it. So, I have no idea if it's something on my computer or if there is a problem with iCloud. Can anyone help me out? It's so discouraging. Thanks much.
By the way, this problem exists on all my products -- iPhone, MacBook Pro as well as my iMacI'm having the same problem, except I'm not receiving ANY email (not even from businesses etc). This has been going on for a week now. I had not upgraded my OS, so that cannot be the cause. It was just suddenly not receiving emails. I can send, but cannot receive. I can log in to icloud.com but when I select MAIL, it will not load, and says application not availble. Today, I opened Mail Preferences and added a email account using my same email address ([email protected]) and it worked fine, gathered all my missing emails. But it was using the name iCloud instead of my name, and created a new mailbox for all the mail. I want to use my mailbox I've used for years...so I deleted it. It was just a test, but don't really know what was accomplished because my original email still does not receive mail.
Last week I had sent a msg to Apple Support about the problem, and got a reply...so I think they know there is a problem. Perhaps they just don't know what the solution is so will not acknowledge the issue yet.
I'm still waiting for a solution, too. Extremely inconvenient, most of us rely heavily on email. -

I am having trouble with password. Forgetting password,as I have many mail IDs like yahoo,gmail,hotmail,apple, I cloud etc.,thus confusing about password and restating through procedures. The altered password is not accepted I Safari. When I want to open my mail but window appears as incorrect password though the mail appears on the left. however whe I go to my mail separately opening my mail, without mail icon in my pad.

Having trouble with email reviews
Hi all, I am testing Acrobat X for my company and I am having trouble with testing for "send for email review/merge comments". In my last test I made a PDF from InDesing as usual and on my "test" Mac using Acrobat X I opened the PDf and sent it to 3 people for email review. One of the people was using a PC and Acrobat 9 Reader, the other two were using Acrobat X to make comments and send back. I should note that I am using one test machine (iMac) for all three of the Mac reviews, but each individual is logging on with their ID for the network and the email program (entourage).
All three reviewers were able to get the PDF in the email, make comments and then use the "send comments" button to send back to me.
My problem is that when I got all three emails back, and when I logged into the test machine as myself, opened the returned PDFs, I was only able to "merge comments" from one reviewer (from Mac) to my original PDF. With the email from the PC and one email from the iMac, I was UNABLE to merge these two sets of comments. The merge comments button was unavailable, I never got the message about if I wanted to "merge comments" or "No, open this copy only." And when I tried to go through "comments>merge comments onto master PDF" I was not able to see that option anywhere, either.
Sorry for the long explanation, but I want to include as much info as possible to try to get the proper feedback from you all.

" you mean that you have created 3 different users on your mac machine and configured entourage for each of them. If not then please explain this.
Have you tried using any of these:
a) 2-3 Mac partitions for the different users
b) 2-3 different mac machines for the same
c) maybe 2-3 Mac Virtual machines on a Mac main machine
If it is possible can you please try that scenario on any of the above mentioned combinations and let us know the results. This will help us a lot in narrowing down the issue.
