IMac, GTX 680MX, CS6, AE = no GPU. Why?

Running AE CS6 V 11.01.27 on an iMac Mac os 10.8.4
I have followed the steps in this discussion http://forums.adobe.com/message/5204458#5204458   post3 video, where at the conclusion of the steps, in the preferences you can clearly see that CUDA is enabled. When I do this cuda is not enabled. See this screenshot;
Cuda is installed v5.5.25 . In the raytracer_supported_cards.txt file the line;
GeForce GTX 680MX
has been added. It should work but does not.
GPU accelleration *is* working with Premiere CS6.
The iMacs dual boot. Under win7, CUDA is supported and works 100% AE or Premiere. The same hardware is OK under win7 but not under Mac os.
Any ideas as to why it will not work on Mac OS? Its not just a single Mac, we have 25 all doing the same. Am I missing something?

You need to install the After Effects CS6 (11.0.3) update:

When are you going to support GPU for the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680MX on the Mac in the new After Effects CC?
Please also consider this a request as well.

    > When do you think us ATi Radeon card users will get a versionof AE that will use our GPU
After Effects already uses ATI/AMD cards for GPU features, and has for years. The single exception is one feature: the GPU acceleration for the ray-traced 3D renderer.

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680MX 2 gigs ram,  will it work with adobe Mercury playback Engine for accelerated rendering for Premeire Pro cs6?

I am a PC guy but, I have 6 work stations with CS6 but the wife wants a Mac so I am getting her an imac with the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680MX 2 gigs ram. Do you think this video card in the mac will still be able to utilize the Adobe CS6 MPE?
It's not formally supported by Adobe for GPU acceleration; however judging from the fact that the lesser GTX-650M is (with 6.02 update), and the end-user ability to enable support for unsupported cards in Adobe apps, it should work.

    Dear Ms. Andersen:
Evga handles GeForce GTX 680 MX. Apple has nothing to do with it. However, I can try to help you a little bit
go here for Evga's Mac support: http://www.evga.com/support/download/default.aspx
This is one of those video cards that needs 2 power cables connected to the mother board for it to work propertly. It needs 195 watts of power, which  the PCI-E slot will not provide on its own. If you have the power cables connected up okay, then the only advice I can give you is to telephone EVGA and see about a possible replacement.  Apple's policy, as I understand it, is to replace same with same, even if you have the money and are willing to pay extra. This is a 3rd party video card and as such, Apple is not responsible for any problems wth it.  I don't understand either: based on my knowledge of Norwegian,  your screen size is 1280x800 and your bit depth  is 32 bit, and you have 2 gigs Vram, so you should have no problem.
maybe you have a bad card
    good luck to you

  • NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680MX 2048 MB Prolems

Has there been an update for the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680MX 2048 MB in the high end iMac. I have had problems in Aperture and Poser Pro .Firstly in Aperture 3.4.5 with brush laging . .  Now texture problems in Poser Pro , however it renders very good .

As no one knows this question , then is it safe to update direct from Nvidia ?
OX S 10.9.2 clean install this year expecting at least one driver update . .

  • Best Driver for GeForce GTX 680MX

What's the best driver version number to use with the GTX680MX graphic chipset to use GPU acceleration without problems? (Win 7 64bit) Installed at the moment is 306.37 but the latest version is 320.49. I ask this question because I have seen Adobe refer to 311.50 as the latest recommended driver to use for the Quadro 4000 card (and other Nvidia cards). There is not a 311.50 available for the GTX 680MX. The version numbers start in the 310.xx range up to 320.xx
Does anyone know what Adobe recommend?

Using GTX 460, GTX 480, and GTX Titan cards, all of the 320.??? drivers are working fine for me for CS5, 6, and CC. (my testing has been from the older ones all the way up to the latest beta driver).
The only tip I would provide is to change one setting from the default:
    - 3D Settings / Manage 3D settings / Power Management mode = Perfer max. performance (default is "Adaptive")
Bottom line, I suspect for a GTX 680 with premiere, the exact driver version does not matter too much.
Also, BTW, I only load the GTX driver using the custom install option; nVidia wants to add loads of additional stuff that simply is not required for Adobe.
    Regards,
    Jim

  • Which version of Dreamweaver should I be learning. CS6 or CC? Why are they different?

Which version of Dreamweaver should I be learning. CS6 or CC? Why are they different?  I am learning CS6 in school, I wanted to practice at home so I joined Creative Cloud.  Although both versions are available,  I understand that the DWCC is the most recent version and CS6 will be faded out.  I'm half way through CS6 and now see there are a lot of differences in the format of CC.

Jon has the best answer here, though nancy's absolutely correct. I have seen no instruction manuals for the Creative Cloud version of Dreamweaver.
Fact is, while there are differences, if you learn CS6, Creative Cloud won't be too much of a stretch. I would suggest that there are lots of differences between Dreamweaver MX (released 29 May 2002) and Creative Cloud (released this year). So, if you're looking at an old MX tutorial, it's probably a good idea to purchase a different book and tutorial.
Dreamweaver is, essentially, a code editor. This is absolutely crucial for you to understand. It's not like Adobe's InDesign, a drag-and-drop WYSIWYG page layout tool. The Worldwide Web is entirely based on HyperText Markup Language, which is in its 4th version, with a 5th proposed and on the cusp of being agreed to. Dreamweaver started supporting HTML5 with CS 5.5 (version 11.5).
So, if what you do is go out and buy books on HTML 4, XHTML and HTML5, you will be learning what is really required in Dreamweaver. As to the Dreamweaver interface, it's a bunch of panels that can, pretty much, be ignored. If you edit in Split View, you will see your web page as you build it (but it won't really be correct unless you switch to Live View, which does not update as you edit). And you still have to check everything out in a browser (two or three would actually be good).
So, do your tutorials on CS6 because they'll pretty much give you a good enough idea about how Dreameaver CC works, but learn HTML and CSS. Otherwise, you'll find yourself hopelessly lost.

  • Photoshop CS6 and Java. Why?

After the reality of how Java is a big huge security risk, is old technology, and after Apple dropped it from the default install of Lion—and after it sounded like Adobe removed the dependency of requiring Java Runtime, why or why is my fresh install of Photoshop CS6 requiring Java?
Why? What does PS need this for?
Is there any way to install without Java? Any thoughts?
I'm running a fresh install of Lion on a MBP. Installed Design premium CS6 as a digital download.

Ah, good to know. Yes, I'm on running the latest version of Lion.
So from Adobe's perspective, do you download Java, then can you remove it if it's not necessary for CS6? If so, would you know what Java file to look for to remove? (I know Lion installs other framework files for Java, which I don't want to mess with deleting at all.)
...or does it not get installed in this process, and this is all a runaround?
    Thank you,
    Michael

  • Does rendering a 3D scene in PS CS6 use the GPU?

    The title says it all.
When I render a 3D scene in Photoshop CS6, is the GPU of my system of any help?
Whenever I render any 3D scene in PS, I have noticed that the GPU stays idle, it does nothing, everything seems to be done by the CPU. Is it supposed to be this way?
OpenGL _is_ correctly enabled in PS and I have just one video card in my system (GTX660 Ti 3GB).
    Thanks.

I'm not totally sure on this, but I think the rendering uses CPU as it has to calculate all the raytrace elements, which may be beyond the ability of the GPU.  Plus once you rendered, you can save the file and it will keep the rendered state until you make a change, so that sounds like the CPU saving file info to disk.  The GPU is mainly for updating the display quickly and giving you a close representation of what you'll be getting, like light and shadow movement.

I thought the backup whilst asleep was only used on Mountain Lion.. but perhaps it was also introduced with Lion.. anyway it is only enabled on later firmware.. in latest laptops.

Before I upgraded to Yosemite 10.10.3 my photos taken on my phone transferred to my iPad and iMac. Now nothing automatically transfers. Why?

This may be a solution. i take it your photos were in iPhoto. If so they will still be in your iPhoto library.
This library should be in your pictures folder, see below.
If you control-click on the library and from the drop down menu choose open, hopefully iPhoto will open and you will see your photos.
This worked for me, so I hope it works for you.
