IMac too heavy? Shifting down constantly.

I just recently purchased a new 20" iMac and I've noticed that my screen will slowly tilt down from gravity. Without any thumps on the desk or vibration from walking around, just leaving the room and coming back 10 minutes later it will have shifted down. The only remedy to this I've found is tilting the display all the way up, that way it has a harder time slipping down. This computer is only 2 days out of the box. Any ideas what I could do to help this situation?
-Keri

I have the 24" (even heavier) and it stays as I place it. This is a problem with your stand where the arm connects to the display. It should be replaced or repaired.

  • My iPod Touch 3rd Gen is having problems with the touch screen being unresponsive, too responsive, freezing and constantly resizing. Is this a common problem? Is there a fix?

My iPod Touch (3rd Gen) is having problems with the touch screen being unresponsive, too responsive, freezing and constantly resizing. It varies between not responding when I tap the screen and acting as if I double-tap or tap and hold when I tap. Every so often it freezes for a minute or so and then comes back. The scren is constantly changing sizes too such that I often can't see most of the top status bar or other edges. This makes typing almost impossible, ruins most games and generally makes everything difficult, but otherwise the iPod is working correctly. Powering off, shutting down apps, letting it sit have not worked. This has happened once before months ago, but the issue resolved itself somehow. Is this a common problem? Is there a fix?

    Try this for the freezing

Or if they don't work put it into recovery mode

  • IMac overheating and shutting down when running XP?

I'm using my iMac to play games in Windows, which stresses the processor a lot-- it heats up like crazy. If it gets too hot, it either locks up or the graphics cut out altogether and I'm left with things still running and responding (I can tell from the sound) and a black screen.
I don't have these problems when running equally graphics-intensive games OSX-side.
Anything I can do for my iMac to cool it down a bit, short of playing in a meat locker? (I have a fan blowing directly at the vent on the back, and it mitigates it somewhat.)

    Hi Melissa,
use either SpeedFan http://www.almico.com/speedfan.php or InputRemapper http://www.olofsson.info/index.html?inputremapper.html for fan control when running Windows.

  • Volcano 7+ too heavy?

i have the kt3 ultra aru
is the volcano 7+ with the 3 lug clip too heavy?
    what do you guys think?

I have the Volcano 7+ on my KT4VL. I was a bit concerned with the size and weight of the hs. Works great! Dropped the CPU temp by 14 degrees C!
Make sure you remove the MB to install the HS. Use a good silver grease. Use a nut driver, not a screw driver to push down the HS clip onto the processor socket. Less likly to slip and destroy your MB.

  • My iMac has been shutting down abruptly

My new iMac has been shutting down abruptly the past week and after that I have to wait several minutes to try and see if it will turn on. At first I thought it was overheating, but even after being on less than an hour it shuts down. Does anyone know the reason why this is happenig? Oh, and I was just browsing on the internet, there were no weird programs runnig and the anti virus scan says it's clean.

Back up all data immediately as your boot drive may be failing.
This diagnostic procedure will query the system log for messages that may indicate a hardware fault. It changes nothing, and therefore will not, in itself, solve your problem.
If you have more than one user account, these instructions must be carried out as an administrator. I've tested them only with the Safari web browser. If you use another browser, they may not work as described.
Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
    syslog -k Sender kernel -k Message CReq 'GPU D|I/O|nspace-h|n Cause: -|timed? ?o' | tail | open -ef
Copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C).
Launch the Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Paste into the Terminal window (command-V).
The command may take a noticeable amount of time to run. Wait for a new line ending in a dollar sign (“$”) to appear.
A TextEdit window will open with the output of the command. Normally the command will produce no output, and the window will be empty. If the TextEdit window (not the Terminal window) has anything in it, post it — the text, please, not a screenshot. The title of the TextEdit window doesn't matter, and you don't need to post that.

  • How do you get the rest of the form to shift down when a field grows in a subform

I am using ES2, I am trying to get a form to shift down when a field grows in a subform, and nothing I tries works.  I am not an expert in this area, but all the help I have tried on-line does not seem to workI would be more than happy to email the form to anyone that could give me some assistance.  I have already spent too much time on this project, and if I cant get it to work, I will have to move back to a simple word form without all the fancey bells and whistles, but I hate to move backwards.  Any help or guidance would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks in advance,

Thank you so much, I tried to duplicate the form from Assure and something is still wrong.  The background of the subform is not light green, I am not sure if the color was for display purpose only, but it still did not flow right either.  I was unable to find the option in the testfield to "Display all of the content (on exit).  I am also getting an warning note: The object may not work properly. • IMac 27'' keeps powering down for no reason

After about 2 hrs of editing sometimes my iMac 27'' keeps powering down for no reason and then rebooting.

If you have more than one user account, these instructions must be carried out as an administrator.
Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
    Step 1
Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left. If you don't see that menu, select
    View ▹ Show Log List
    from the menu bar.
Enter "BOOT_TIME" (without the quotes) in the search box. Note the timestamps of those log messages, which refer to the times when the system was booted. Now clear the search box and scroll back in the log to the last boot time after  you had the problem. Select the messages logged before the boot, while the system was unresponsive or was failing to shut down. Copy them to the Clipboard (command-C). Paste into a reply to this message (command-V). Please include the BOOT_TIME message at the end of the log extract.
If there are runs of repeated messages, post only one example of each. Don’t post many repetitions of the same message.
When posting a log extract, be selective. In most cases, a few dozen lines are more than enough.
Please do not indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
Important: Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting.
    Step 2
Still in Console, look under System Diagnostic Reports for crash or panic logs, and post the entire contents of the most recent one, if any. In the interest of privacy, I suggest you edit out the “Anonymous UUID,” a long string of letters, numbers, and dashes in the header of the report, if present (it may not be.) Please don’t post shutdownStall, spin, or hang logs — they're very long and not helpful.

  • Imac freezing when shutting down

hi, i have this problem for quite a while now. it does not happen all the time but 9 times out of 10 this happens.

is this a common problem ?
does it cause my imac harm by shutting down this way ?
how can i fix this ?
it didnt do this in the beginning only a few months later it started to
    any help will be appreciated
    thanks

Had had my 500GB HD replaced by apple in my imac24 today, after reinstalling everything and updating I indeed am experiencing the issue of the power button press to sleep COMPLETY locking and freezing the iMac.
I am for now clicking the iMac to sleep but plann to call tomorrow and ask why this has started happening.
Has anyone had a resolve yet??

  • In fullscreen mode, is there a way to prevent the page from shifting down when displaying the menu and tabs?

In fullscreen mode (F11), when moving the mouse toward the top of the screen to display the tabs & stuff, the page displayed is shifted down. This makes it annoying when returning down with the mouse - you want to reach a certain link, for example, but your target gets shifted up once the tabs & stuff is hidden back.
Is there any way to make the tabs & stuff display 'above' the page content, like on another layer?

Is it the web page display that is changing its own position, or is it something
about the toolbars that is pushing the page down? I have the same issue with
my browser using an add-on to show a multiple line bookmark bar.

I have an iMac4.1 and my iPhoto is very slow and the thumbnails correspond to the wrong pictures.  How do I fix this? Or is my iMac too old?  Will getting a new iMac solve this problem?
I realize is only 512MB of memory but I want to make sure that a new iMac will solve this problem.  Can the new iPhoto handle 10GB or more of photos?  Or do I have to go to Picasa anyways in which case I can buy any computer to do that?

The model of Mac is not partcularly relevant, it's the version of the OS and iPhoto that matter.
iPhoto - since 2006 - is good for 250,000 images.

  • Regexp_replace - too heavy?

from t1After few weeks of using we received complain, the Customer said that "sometimes" the procedure works too long. He said, it always works about two minutes, but "sometimes" it can work more than 24 hours! He investigated the issue and decided that the problem is regexp_replace (it's too heavy).
    Could you please:
    1) explain to me is it true that regexp_replace is too heavy
    2) give me solution how do I receive the same result without regexp_replace.
Actually, I'm not trying to prove that regexp_replace is normal. It's a pity, but I can't discuss the issue with the Customer. I'm just trying to understand details for myself.

  • Div shifting down page in live view

I'm trying to create a website for a project I'm doing.I'm having a problem in live view where I the div with the id "imageholder" keeps shifting down the page. It looks fine in the editor but the browser and live view not so much. I want it to line up with the top div, not the bottom one.

Move the imageholder div so that it is the first child of the "mainpara" article.
Also, you probably want "...what they're saying below" in that last paragraph above. Finally, why do you have a nested <nav> tag in your code?

  • Fonts Look Too Heavy In Safari

After installing Lion the way fonts display in Safari especially where they are bold are now too heavy which is closer to how they display on Safari in Windows. This is overdone as they looked better before.

Actually they are fine now as I hadn't seen that Use LCD font smoothing had been turned on. Now off and back as before.
