IMac won't register for icloud sync.

My iMac won't register to allow the sync to icloud. I click MobileMe preferences, sync, and Advanced to register and all it does is spin. I run 10.6.8 on the iMac but Lion on my Air which syncs fine, as do my iphone and ipad running ios5.

Youcan migrate MobileMe on SL to iCLoud beta.. but you'll have to get to Lion eventually.

  • TS3988 I changed my Apple ID to my new email address successfully for the iTunes and App store but it won't work for iCloud and it won't recognize my password. I read that this can't be done. How am I supposed to get into iCloud?

I changed my Apple ID to my new email address successfully for the iTunes and App store but it won't work for iCloud and it won't recognize my password. I read that this can't be done. How am I supposed to get into iCloud? I plan on getting rid of my old email address which is my old Apple ID so how is that going to work?

Same question Wish someone had replied!
I changed my Apple ID to my new email and now cannot find any way to access icloud. Unfortunately I had allowed icloud to hijack my airbook files, so of course I am afraid I will lose them tomorrow when I exchange my iphone for a new one and cannot keep an icloud account i cannot access. What a poor sync system! Really atypical for apple!

  • I lost my ipod at a party and I never registered for icloud and I don't know how to find it without icloud

I lost my ipod touch 4th generation at a party on saturday and I never went or registered for icloud and now I don't know how to track it down please helpp me!!!

    Hi Vanessa,
    Welcome to Apple Support Communities.
If you didn't enable Find my iPod touch, you won't be able to track it with iCloud. The article below provides more details and some suggestions that I hope will be helpful.
What to do if your iOS device is lost or stolen
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht5668
If you did not enable Find My iPhone on your missing device
If you did not enable Find My iPhone before it was lost or stolen, you can't use it to locate or protect your device, but you can still follow these steps:
Change your iCloud password to ensure that no one else can use your device to delete or make changes to your iCloud data.
Report your lost or stolen device to local law enforcement and your wireless carrier. Apple doesn't track or flag lost or stolen products, but you can use My Support Profile (supportprofile.apple.com) to find a list of serial numbers for products that you've purchased or registered with your Apple ID.
    Good Luck.

You can continue to share the same iTunes account ID with your daughter and set up a separate iCloud account with a different ID.
=> is this a different iCloud account for each device?  I thought iCloud account ID had to match some iTunes account ID, for which we only have one i Tunes account?
You need to set up a separate iCloud account for each person that does not want to share their iCloud data.  If you share an iCloud account with someone, any data you both sync with the shared account is merged, and you end up with each other's data on your device(s).  If, for example, you owned two devices and someone else in the family also owned two devices, you would both want your own iCloud accounts, and you would each set up your personal iCloud account on the two devices you own.  In other words, you want a separate iCloud account for each person to be used on the devices they own.  Each iCloud account has to have a separate Apple ID.  The ID does not need to be the same as the ID used for iTunes.  Many families perfer to share the same iTunes account/ID, but maintain separate iCloud accounts with different IDs to keep there data separated.

=> what ID, iTunes?  So I can have a separate iCloud account "only" ID which I also assume must be some [valid] email address?  The children currently do not have email accounts anywhere.
Yes, I was referring to the iTunes ID not needing to be the same as the ID used for iCloud.  In order to set up an Apple ID your children will need to have a valid email address that can be verified by Apple.  Apple requires this so they have a way of contacting the owner if there is a problem with the account, such as when you may need to reset the password on the account.  When you set up the ID, Apple will send a verification email to this email account and you will need to click on the verificating link in the email to complete the process.  If they don't currently have an email account you can just set one up with gmail or another free email hosting service.  They don't have to use the account but you will need it to set up the ID.

  • I'm registered to itunes and recommended to download icloud but was told I'm not registered for icloud how do I register for icloud?

I'm registered to itunes and recommended to download icloud but was told I'm not registered for icloud how do I register for icloud?

To register in iCloud, you need an iPhone, iPad, iPod touch or Mac in order to log in iCloud for the first time. See > http://www.apple.com/icloud/setup
If you haven't got any of these devices to set up iCloud, you can't use iCloud. Anyway, probably you don't need it if you only have a PC and an iPod nano (it doesn't use iCloud)

  • How can I use a different Apple ID for Find My iPhone than for iCloud syncing/storage and iTunes purchases?

I use two different Apple ID's for two iPhone 4's and for iTunes on my PC. I use one for purchases and the other for Find My iPhone on both phones. How can I set up iCloud for both phones using each ID for it's user for storage and backup but keep one ID for purchases and one for Find My iPhone on both phones?

To better describe what I am needing:
    1. - iPhone 1
    2. - iPhone 2
    A. - Apple ID #1
    B. - Apple ID #2
On 1. I need A for purchases and iCloud and B for Find My iPhone.
On 2. I need A for purchases and B for iCloud and Find My iPhone.
In addition, will iCloud store text messages?

  • Macbook Pro Stolen w/out Registering for iCloud

Hey my friend just got a new Macbook Pro in the mail today and it has already been stolen, so I looked in to attempting to locate the Macbook but I am pretty sure that since he has not yet registered with iCloud that he cannot locate the Macbook with Find My Mac, though I am unsure. Please let me know if there is any way to locate the Macbook without having registered with iCloud. I understand that we should immediately contact the police and file a report but I wanted to reach out here real quick first in order to see if I can locate the Macbook another way under current conditions.

No. There's no way to find it without iCloud activated and the FindMyMac feature set up. All you can do is report it stolen.

  • Why Won't Reminders for iOS Sync with iCloud?

I've been forced to use iCloud for Reminders now that I've upgraded to Mac OS X Mountain Lion. Because Reminders & Calendar share a checkbox on Mountain Lion, I've been forced to use iCloud for that, too, because once that checkbox is checked, Calendar refuses to sync with my phone via iTunes.
Now, the sole reason I've done this is to sync Reminders between my iPhone 4 and my iMac, but no matter what I try, after the initial sync when iCloud is set up, changes to my Reminders (additions, edits, etc.) refuse to make it to iCloud. I know because I've added and changed numerous reminders in the last few days, and none of those changes show up on iCloud.com. So this is an issue between iOS and iCloud's servers.
This has been going on since I upgraded OS X and enabled iCloud last weekend, and the only time I've managed to resolve it was by doing this:
    1. Backing up all my Calendar & Reminders data
    2. Turning off iCloud for Calendar and Reminders on both my iPhone and iMac (making certain to preserve the Reminders stored on my iPhone, which had the most recent changes)
    3. Deleting all the Reminders shown on iCloud.com
    4. Turning iCloud back on for both devices.
I'm not sure if all these steps were necessary (especially deleting the Reminders from iCloud.com), but the even if the other 3 steps are, it is unacceptable to me (and anyone with half a brain) to need to turn iCloud off and back on every time I want a backup of my iPhone's Reminders on a different device (in case I lose the iPhone or it is destroyed).
In case anyone was wondering, I've already tried all the troubleshooting steps at http://support.apple.com/kb/ts4000. I'm running the latest version of OS X Mountain Lion with all applicable updates, and my iPhone is running the latest version of iOS 6 (6.1.3) that Apple will allow me to have. Yes, that means I haven't patched the SSL bug, but I'm rarely away from home, and when I am, I am rarely somewhere with accessible (not locked) wi-fi. In addition, my home network is secured and running good encryption, so I'm not worried. I just turn my wi-fi off when away from home.
Oh, and upgrading to iOS 7 is out of the question at this point in time, because I don't like it (especially the look and the combined Address/Search bar in Safari, among other things) and I'm concerned about battery life/performance. Also, I've seen a class-action lawsuit going around right now regarding the fact that iOS 7 can potentially fry the Broadcomm wireless chip in older iPhones (i.e. mine).
So, with all this info in mind, can someone help me?

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
Check that all your contacts are in your primary iCloud group, only contacts in this group will sync with your primary iCloud account.
In the example above I have a secondary iCloud account, but you might also see a 'On My Phone' group.

  • HT5051 How do you register for icloud

Ii have a new iPad 2, and I am a new apple user. Apparently when I bought this I bought a cloud!!!! However, I have no idea how to get registered with it, ( if you have  to) and/ or how to transfer any documents onto it. Some 'laymen' advice would be good, cheers

You didn't 'buy' iCloud because at basic level it's free.
These pages will guide you through the process:
    Get Started with iCloud
    http://www.apple.com/icloud/setup/ios.html
    iCloud Help
These are the things which iCloud can do:
•Provides one main @me.com email address and up to three 'aliases' (additional addresses).
•Allows you to sync your calendars between your Mac(s) and iOS devices.
    •Ditto with contacts
    •Ditto with Safari bookmarks
•Provides a conduit which copies photos taken on any one device onto all the others
•Provides a fairly basic photo gallery (populated only from iPhoto for iOS)
•Provides 'Find My iPhone/iPad' to locate a missing device that is able to connect to a network
•Backs up the contents of your iPhone
•Syncs iWork documents (only) between your Mac and your iPhone
•Tracks the location of your friends (only with their permission)

  • Upgrade iMac to Lion OS for iCloud.

I'm so confused I'm trying to get the iCloud on my iMac but it's saying I don't have the right Lion OS X. so I tried to download it but it's saying I need another version first, well I can't find that version and have NO idea how do upgrade now. HELP!

Just to confirm you're running OS X Lion (10.7.2) go to the Apple menu, top left and select 'About this Mac'. At the top it should say Max OS X Version 10.7.2 (or maybe 10.7/10.7.1 if you haven't updated via software update lately).
If it confirms Lion is installed look at System Preferences and it should have an iCloud icon, like this (3rd row of Sys Prefs):
If it has, have a look here for getting started: http://www.apple.com/support/icloud/getstarted/

  • Does calendar app need to be open for iCloud sync?

    Hi @all,
I was just wondering the following about the sync function with iCloud: When I add a new calendar entry on my MacBook will it be pushed automatically to my iPhone from the cloud without having the actual calendar app open on the iPhone? I am asking because I am not frequently connected to a data network so what happens with this new entry in my calendar? Let's say I connect to a data network but don't open the calendar app. I leave the data network connection open for a while and then close it. After closing the data network connection I open the calendar app but the new entry does not appear. Will the new entry be synced to my iPhone only when I open the calendar app and only when I am connected to a data network at the same time?
    Thanks
    Martin

Define background.  Do you mean the app open but minimized or app is actually not open.  I have photos in my dock for quick access.  It is closed and does not have the dot underneath showing it is open but minimized.  If the app is completely closed is iCloud working in the background upload/downloading photos?

  • Flash won't register for IE8 on xp sp3 home edition, but works in Firefox

Windows XP SP3 fully patched (32bit), IE8.0.6001.18702, Firefox 3.6.3, Eset NOD 4.0.437.0, Comodo Firewall 3.9.95478.509
I've been trying to sort this out on and off for the last three weeks...nothing I do seems to remedy the problem.
I had version 10.0.32.18 installed and running.  I tried to install the updated 10e version of flash player and since then haven't been able to get FP working with IE8. The Firefox plugin wouldn't work with the 10e version, but seems to work fine with the later 10h installation.
I've read the articles in the support literature (tn 19166, 19148, 4da116d3, etc.) about installation and followed all the recommendations, numerous times.
I've run the uninstaller, also the special uninstaller for CS5 & pre-release version.  I've run the subinacl tool. I've attempted installation using the online download manager, and using the downloaded ax.exe installer.   I've attempted to open a new user account and install the FP there.
Always the FP fails to register.
As you know, the default admin account in unavailable in xp home edition, even when you right click on a file and attempt to "run as", you can only access the established user accounts... I am installing from one of those, an administrative account, with full access.  I attempted to install from safe mode with networking.  (the default admin account). That didn't work either.  I've added what were missing registry keys (the D27 clsid and typelib entries, and given them full access), after reading the advice in this post.(http://forums.adobe.com/message/2924210?tstart=0)  Still no luck...
    I'm out of ideas...
I wonder why the latest installer wouldn't write the missing D27 registry keys on its own, if those are required and were missing...Isn't an installer supposed to write registry keys for the product it's installing?
Anyway, I'd love to work this out, as I prefer to have a fully functional versiion of IE8 on my system, and without a FP, it's missing something...
I am running Eset NOD32 as an AV, and Comodo IS with only the firewall and Defense+ working, but I have attempted installation with them both disabled, as well as actually uninstalling the comodo firewall from the system...
The only other active security measure is Windows Defender, though I have some non-resident anti-malware and anti-spyware scanners installed, they are not running processes. (MBAM & SAS).  I had WinPatrol running, but disabled it while I attempt to work through this issue.
I'm about to do a clean install of xp just to get flash working....that seems a little extreme to me...everything else runs flawlessly...but I'm open to ideas...and welcome experienced advice that will lead me to a solution...Thanks in advance for any time you spend with this...
ps the windows/system32/macromed/flash entries after an installation include these files:
    The latest installation log is:

    Thanks for your response...
I can wait.  After all, it was by waiting for the release of the 10h version after the 10e version sabotaged my flash installation, that I was eventually able to at least get Firefox up and running flash again...
It's just frustrating to think that the folks at Adobe can't come up with a better product testing cycle so they are unleashing these problems on end users systems...
I recognize that there may be some sort of issue with my particular system registry.  If so, I wish I knew what it was...but flash releases are the only installations I ever have any difficulty with...All of the other software I run updates without failing....sad to say...
Perhaps I will try running a home edition version of secedit (See here)http://support.microsoft.com/kb/313222 instead of the clean or repair install...I'll let you know what I decide and how it works out...
    Anyway, thanks for the input..

  • I have signed up for iCloud syncing of music on my iPod.

No-where during sign-up any mention that only IOS devices could aceess the music on iCloud. I have only Android and Windows devices, except for my ancient iPod. My sole reason for subscription was to access my iPod's music on iCloud with my other non IOS devices. Once I had paid, I received an email stating this iCluad access service is only available for IOS devices. I obviously can't reach iTunes Store to demand a refund as I can't read my model number on the back of my ancient and very scratched iPod. How do I contact iTunes Store to get a refund? I have only been subscribed for 4 hours? fjve
