Image Corruption in ACR/Bridge CS 6:

Shooting 1D mk lV, all image shot in RAW; Mac Pro Dual Core Xeon, ATI Radeon HD 5770. Downloads are via card reader.
Bridge/ACR will randomly take the first image I open and corrupt it. It could be per set of images or just the first image of the day. This is usually not a problem as my first images are usually just test/set up shots. This morning it screwed me royally.
I edited a shoot last night and put my highlight images into a separate folder. I then did ACR corrections and ran a batch for logo'd sample images and sent them to the client.
This morning I start up my computer and open the highlight image folder, select the 5 highlights, click on 'open in camera raw' and they pop up and after 2 seconds the first image corrupts.
I have tried copying the image to other drives as well as to my Mac Pro laptop and it does the same thing every time. Purging cache for selection doesn't work.
Copying the original in finder to another drive doesn't work (this has worked in the past).
This has happened in the past and I did find a fix of deleting a certain file in the adobe library (and it recreates it). I did save the page where I found the fix but haven't been able to find it.
I have re-created the ACR cache as well as the Bridge caches. After recreating the caches and clicking 'purge cache for selection' it briefly pops back the original and then corrupts again.
I've tried increasing cache size and various cache options.
When I view the file in finder, the tiny thumbnail shows the correct image but the preview shows corrupted image.
If I view the image in Canon's Digital Photo Professional, it pops up for a second normally and then corrupts itself.
I'm guessing it's a deep cache issue...I have well over a million images that have passed through CS6. I regulary clean my caches but am I missing something somewhere???
Any suggestions from anyone???

Doubleclicking on the files in Bridge causes that quicktime or VLC or itunes (depending on the file format) will open that, but bridge does not handle anything?!
Bridge CC and Bridge CS6 both handle my .mov files from EOS 1Dx and iPhone without any problems. The show in the preview window and can be played with sound in this same window. (MacPro with 10.8.4)
Purging cache is what it is, it dumps the previous cache of the preview and forces Bridge to create a new one, nothing else is set to default.
First try a reset of preferences and hold down option key while restarting Bridge and choose reset prefs. then try again.

How do I stop images when selected in Bridge from automatically opening in ACR?

For no reason that I can think of, When I click on a single image in Bridge to preview or to try and select multiple images to load as layers or merge to HDR, the first image clicked opens in ACR. How can i Stop this?

The images are RAW files. When I click to select the image it immediately opens in ACR. It won't let me preview the image in Filmstrip mode as it did before. It won't allow me to select multiple images as the first image selected opens ACR.

PsE 8 Mac, ACR 5.7, no "Open Image" button in ACR?

A forum search was unproductive, so I apologize if this question has an obvious answer.
I've been a user of the full version of Photoshop for many years. Now I find myself temporarily using PsElements 8 and ACR 5.7 on someone else's iMac.
After editing an image in ACR from Bridge CS4 (the one that comes with PsElements), I don't see an "Open Image" button in ACR. How do I open the image in PsElements 8?
Puzzled. Is this a sign that ACR is not installed properly?

I am fully familiar with the full version of ACR that comes with the real Photoshop. That's what I use at home on my desktop machine.
It's the PsElements version that I know nothing about.
The last paragraph of your post may hold a clue, but there's more to the issue I'm seeing here. As you well know, the Mac version does not come with the Organizer, but with Bridge CS4. I followed the PsElements-specific instructions for the ACR 5.7 download, as follows:
To install with Adobe Photoshop Elements 8:
NOTE: You must follow all of the new instructions in order to
successfully install the Camera Raw Plug-in for Photoshop Elements
1. Exit Photoshop Elements and Adobe Bridge
2. Open the download file and double-click CameraProfiles.dmg and follow the on-screen instructions.
3. Navigate to the root of the local disk (not the user's home folder).
4. Navigate to: (Please read directory carefully)
Applications/Adobe Photoshop Elements 8/Plug-Ins/FileFormats/
5. Copy the existing plug-in to another location (for example, a new
folder on your desktop). Ensure you keep this version in case you need
to revert back.
6. Copy the Camera Raw plug-in, Camera Raw, from the download into the same folder as in Step 4, and overwrite the exiting file.
7. Launch Photoshop Elements or Adobe Bridge.
That works fine for PsE 8 but does not let Bridge see, preview or open RAW files. I had to go ouside the instructions and put another, additional copy of the ACR plug-in either in ./ Library/ Application Support/ Adobe/ Plug-ins/ CS4/ File Formats/ Camera Raw.plugin or, alternatively, in ./ Applications/ Adobe Bridge CS4/ Plug-Ins/ , otherwise Bridge shows me only generic icons for the raw files.

location does work as advertised for PsE, regardless.
My guess is I should uninstall PsE and Bridge, re-install both and then update to ACR 5.7.
If that still doesn't work, I'll see if there is a PsE version 9 for the Mac. The computer owner barely uses PsE as it is and does not want to mess with the full version of the real Photoshop.
Personally, I'll be happy to go back home on Monday and forget this ordeal with PsE. :-/
With the above instructions—taken from the Download page—there is no way to see thumbnails and/or previews of raw file in the Bridge provided with PsE. Adobe has definitely gone down the tubes—and I know you're not Adobe.

Color shift between image viewed in ACR and open in PS

Today I updated Photoshop CC and now I have a slight color shift problem between the same image open in ACR and then opened in Photoshop. It appears to be slightly more saturated in ACR.
I have tried the same thing on another computer and it does NOT have the same problem so it must have been something that happened in the update (ACR was one of the items updated). I have also compared the preferences between the two computers and they are identical.
I guess the next thing to do is to deinstall PS and reinstall????

Any difference between ACR and Photoshop is most likely due to a monitor profile problem. They both use the same monitor profile, but there are differences in the actual conversion so a problem can show up differently between them.
Is your monitor calibrated/profiled, and if so how, using what calibrator? Or are you using the Windows default (sRGB), or perhaps you got a bad manufacturer profile through Windows Update? (yes, that happens frequently).
To find out if the monitor profile is indeed the problem, go to Control Panel > Color Management > Devices. Set sRGB IEC61966-2.1 as default profile (if it isn't already), then relaunch Photoshop/Bridge and see if the difference is still there. If your monitor is wide gamut, use Adobe RGB instead.
Note that this doesn't fix the problem as such, but if you don't have a calibrator sRGB will usually be close enough until you decide to get one.
If you do have and use a calibrator, make sure it is set to make v2 profiles, not v4, and matrix rather than LUT profiles.

Full ACR + Bridge LE = a missing product ?

This could be the wrong subforum to ask (and Im sure someone will tell me), however, heres the story and the question:
Two of my kids (9 and 12 years old) are currently making their first steps in digital photography. So we tested different software for image processing, including Photoshop CS3, Lightroom and PS Elements 6. Purpose was to find something simple while still getting best possible results in the given context. Following are our impressions:
1.) ACRs ability to open Raw as well as JPG files was found to be very useful. In many cases, a separate Pixel-editor such as given with main Photoshop or PSE was not necessarily needed anymore (even though my heart is with the main Photoshop platform).
2.) Bridge was loved. Whereas LR and PSE soon got ignored due their Organizer and this DAM import/export thing. Ive heard that Mac users are more familiar which the procedure. However, were on Windowz boxes. We (I) expect a Browser to show the files in the given file structure as it is.
3.) ACRs functions were found to be too much reduced in PSE. Full ACR including e.g. the HSL tab etc. would be preferred.
Anything in the pipeline (or anything missed) which could be called Full ACR + Bridge LE (light edition), while running on Windowz ?
Please note that this is not a question about pricing and getting the best for least money. If it costs as much as (lets say LR), so be it.

Just a comment on your LR import/export issues. I agree and dislike the way it requires importing images, but I've got a work around that is semi-satisfactory (for me anyway).
I've imported a single folder at the top level, under which all my own folder structure is organised. When I have added images to this structure I "synchronise" the top level folder, which basically just imports the new images into the LR database.
It's far more time consuming than it should be (especially as the folder grows bigger), but atleast it means LR sticks to the folder structure that _I_ want, and it's not as tedious as manually importing each new folder.
For me, the editing abilities of LR are good enough that a trial of PS (and PSE) sat idle because I never needed to edit in it.

I am getting this error when the computer renders some websites. It happens with ebay & on youtube. It shows the text but no pictures or background. I am running Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit and Firefox 4.0.1 it also happens in the newest version of FF & in safe mode , I have installed the latest Java runtime with no change ,but interstingly if I turn on "in private browsing" FF runs OK.
I have run Firefox in safe mode, I have uninstalled completely using the APPS own uninstaller & then cleaned up all the files left behind with a 3rd party uninstaller I have updated Firefox to the newest release & rolled back to v4.0.1,I have disabled all addons & AV & malware apps (just for a minute)I have even tried a system restore. Also the "VJO not defined" only happens with FireFox & not with IE.interestingly FireFox runs fine if I enable "in private browsing"

Clear the cache and the cookies from sites that cause problems.
"Clear the Cache":
* Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Offline Storage (Cache): "Clear Now"
"Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:
* Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: "Show Cookies"

Why do I keep receiving the error message: disk failed image corrupt

I am trying to upgrade my version of Firefox from 2.0.0.2 (downloaded Nov. 2007) to the new version 3.6.12. on my IMac desktop computer.
When I download the file I receive a white and grey icon that says Firefox 3.6.12.dmg. When I click on this icon I receive the error message:
mounting disk failed; image corrupt.

Firefox 3.0 and 3.5/6 versions require at least Mac OS X 10.4

Export of the images on HDD in Bridge CC

How do you export the images on HDD in Bridge CC? Externaly only via PS?
I have used the export fn in the Bridge CS 5 quite often.
I have also LR 5.3. Shall I use the Export from there?

When you put the SDCard directly into the MacBook's memory card reader and import from there, do the pictures you expect show up in the previews?
Maybe it's the camera's USB port that is slowly giving up..

Images opened in CS2, Bridge or Lightroom have bands of different colors

RAW images opened in CS2, Bridge or Lightroom have bands of different colors depending on the image and are unusable. Running Windows Vista 32 on Dell Desktop 531 w/2g of ram. Have been searching but haven't found a solution. I have not called Adobe yet.
Lightroom stopped running on Vista 32 windows error message says "Lightroom has stopped running windows is searching for a solution to the problem". At the same time Lightroom works fine on my laptop running Vista 32.

Are you looking at the images at 100% resolution? Banding can appear in other enlargements due to rounding errors.

ACR, Bridge, PS workflow

I'm enjoying working through Jeff Schewe's ACR/PS book and he has me pretty much sold on the ACR, Bridge, PS workflow.
Can Lightroom add significant benefits?

Jim, thank you for an excellent responce. I truthfully had researched the "Help" section on LightRoom and PhotoShop and found nothing that even remotely resembled your straight forward and easy to follow directions. After upgrading to CS6 and LightRoom 4 I am delighted with all of the new features that Adobe created in PhotoShop. I'm not sure that LightRoom 4 was as great an advancement as PhotoShop itself.
I am certainly going to give your solution a try and see how it works out for me. I concur that I probably do not fully understand and appreciate the relationship between the two programs. Today was my attempt of gaining a better insight to that relationship. Thank you for your response!

Display All Running Task image corrupted or tampered with

My task scheduler reports of a number of corrupted task images. Now I want to display all running task on the server and it say the task image is corrupted or tampered with.
How do I recreate this task or repair it? Is there another way of viewing all task, running and inactive ones? What is causing these task image corruptions because my backup tasks are all now corrupted.

Why doesn't Bridge Recognize Canon G1X Raw Images even with ACR 6.6?

I got a new Canon G1X and upgraded my Adobe Camera Raw to version 6.6 which is supposed to recognize this camera.
No matter what I do, the bridge thumbnail never appears and I cannot open the files on Photoshop. I always get an error message that this camera may not be supported.
It is supported and I have upgraded the SW several times.
What gives??

That should not matter, and if so it would be solved with a firmware update by Canon
But after some research it seems you need the beta version of ACR 6.7 that does has the support for the GX1 added. The release candidate ACR 6.7 can be found on Adobe Labs:

Read the about and terms and download the plug in. It is beta but pretty safe to use

Corrupted files in Bridge

I have recently started migrating image files (Camera raw + JPGs) from older external drives to new drives (same brand - G-drive) I have never had any issues with these drives until they were way past their prime. I just viewed folders in bridge and saw image thumbnails BECOME CORRUPTED as I scrolled through the folders. I opened the files, and they were corrupted. (no prompt, just gargbage). I am assuming there was either a problem with the new drive, or with the transfer process. I am posting here because I had similar issues a few years back with raw files from an older camera, and a previous version of Bridge. After multiple updates, Bridge no longer corrupted raw files from that camera. I'm using Bridge 5.0.2.4 (will update to new version today).
The corrupted files were (drag) copied from multiple external hard drives.
I want to know if anyone is encountering similar corruptions? These are Canon Raw files from a Canon 5D (1st gen)
MacBook pro "15" late 2011, OS 10.7.5 - 8Gb Dram
These are the first corrupted files I have encountered using this MacBook. It has been very stable. I did however, find hard drives going into Sleep Mode during long tranfers, even when I had set prefs NOT to let Computer OR Hard Drives sleep.

What type of RAW files are we talking about, NEF,CR2 or other?
Bridge is just a flle browser, and RAW files are opened and edited in Adobe Camera Raw. Do you just get a thumbnail, but it willl not open in ACR?
Does ACR work with other RAW images that have not been corrupted.
Do you have a backup (highly recommended) of these images somewhere? Should be on seperate physical drive or on a DVD.

How to run image processor with ACR?

I have a folder with 1000 raws.
I just want to run image processsor to make small jpegs for the copyright office.
Think it ACR opens each one to the ACR window and then stops.
(I think Jeff S, explained this in a previous thread of mine I now cannot find— sorry. At that time it probably was not a critical issue and I move on. But I do gotta get these shots over to Washington DC now. thanks!)

The interaction between Image Processor and Camera Raw depennds on your Image Processor settings...if you've laready set the image adjustments (or don't need any adjustments) simply be sure you DON'T select Open fist image to apply settings> As long as you don't select this option, IP will run through all of the raw files, process them with the image settings and save as JPEG–you'll want to select the Save as JPEG, set the quality and prolly set to Convert Profile to sRGB.
