Image in Develop mode - Orange Tint

I'm having an issue with my images when I switch to Develop mode.  There is an orange tint that appears in each image while I'm tweaking it.  Sometimes the tint is minor like the example I've attached and other times it makes it very difficult to edit the image.  When I return to Library mode or export the image it's normal.
I've attached the same image in both Library and Develop mode to illustrate the issue.  I've highlighted the problem areas with Yellow call-outs in the image that's open in Develop mode (note no adjustments have been made the tint appears as soon as I switch to Develop).
My system uses two video drivers (they are current as of today):
Intel HD Graphics 4000, Driver version 10.18.10.3621
NVIDIA NVS 5200M, Driver version 340.84
Thanks in advance for any assistance.
Jack

DOH, so much to learn!

  • I am unable to open images in Develop Mode in Lightroom 5.4. I keep getting system crashes. Now they wont even open images up at all in any mode.

I have Lightroom 5.4 under the CC from Adobe. EVerytime i opened an image up in Develop mode, the program would crash and Microsoft would tell me its stopped working. After playing around with it, now it wont even open up images in ANY of the modes, WHAT IS GOING ON WITH LIGHTROOM ?!?

First of all, if you don't know much about how applications work inside of the OS, its wise to not look in the application folder(s). Deleting anything here can make your apps go haywire. If this happened, then you are best to 1)unregister photoshop, 2) uninstall your entire suite. 3) reinstall the suite and finally 4) reregister photoshop.
All images/textures/photo's including dng, cr2 and nef files need to be stored in your pictures folder and no where else, unless you're an intermediate user on your OS. In your pictures folder you can create folders for organizing the pictures whether by location, season's, time, or file format.
Then when you back up you can just drag a copy of the files to another drive including cd's or dvd's.
This will make sure you don't accidently delete important app files.
All this said, my OS of choice is Windows, so if anything does not sound right, thats why.
    Hopefully this helps...

  • LR 4.3 continuously refreshes the image in develop mode

I am using LR 4.3 with Photoshop CS5. I have found that after editing a picture in photoshop (transfer from CR2 to .TIFF file) it correctly transfers back into LR as an updated .TIFF file with all edits from PS. However, on further editing of the picture in LR the image is refreshed after EACH edit (ie. file reloads into LR taking a few seconds). If I am trying to apply an edit as the refresh starts then that edit gets lost i.e. NOT applied. The refresh happends after ANY change to the file. It is very frustrating as it wastes time and makes editing slow (have to keep waiting for a refresh). It does not appear to happen in that way when editing CR2 files.
I have only noticed this feature since installing V4.3 although it may have been happening in previous versions. Is there any way round this problem?
I am using W7, i5 2.5 Ghz processor and 8 GB ram with dual screens.

This problem has existed in LR since about 3.0.
If Lightroom creates a tiff or psd for external edit, then when it is returned to LR and one attempts to further adjust the image, the adjustment sliders gray out, the photo reloads, then the sliders become active again.
Many folks say it is caused by the program writing to XMP, to turn "automatically write to XMP" off. Does NOT work!  It is not the root cause.
Bampton says to flick to the next photo. Does NOT work. This is not normal behavior.
What will work to stop the activity is to close and reopen the program. This is not normal behavior.
This will not occur if the file(tiff or PSD) is written by Photoshop. If you are using 4.X and CS6 then Photoshop will write the file at the end of your session in PS. No blinkies.
If you are using 3.X and CS5 together you will not experience the problem since again PS writes the file. No blinkies.
If you are using 4.x and CS5 or under you will encounter the problem, blinkies!
I have not encountered the problem with any file written by the OS or any other program.
The problem is ONLY with tiffs or PSD files created by LR for external editing. It would seem to me this is a bug.
It is not a major bug, but annoying.
    I have filed a bug report again here......http://feedback.photoshop.com/photoshop_family/topics/lr_continuously_refreshes_the_image_ in_develop_mode?rfm=1
Please drop by and sign it...........maybe we can get some attention this time. I filed a bug report before, but can't find it.

  • In Develop Mode, always Display As Shot White Balance

When adjusting WB for RAW images in Develop Mode, it would be really useful to have the As Shot WB visible in RH Pane, along side the Custom WB or other adopted WB.

and I guess, just undo after changing to As Shot, or is there someway more elegant?
I don't completly understand that... Do you mean that you just want to quickly review what the WB in your camera was for the photo, but you want to retain the custom WB setting that you made during developmen? If that is the case, yes, undo afterwards seems to be the best thing to do. If I remember correctly, there is no place in the metadata panel where one can view the original WB information (I don't have LR at my disposal at present).
The same should be true for the flash info, but I am not 100% sure about that right now. Look for it in the metadata panel switched to "EXIF". If an information is not there, it is probably not available in LR elsewhere (except perhaps via a plugin).
Note: The WB values (temp, tint) of "As Shot" do not necessarily equal those displayed by the camera of by the camera maker's software. Actual WB values heavily depend on the raw processing and camera profiles used, and because Adobe/ACR uses different ones compared to the camera maker, there may be substantial differences. I think there was a thread somewhere here in the forum about that...

  • Second screen Full screen preview - library and develop mode next to eachother?

    Hello,
I got a two Display Setup.
I like to have the current selected Image in "Develop Mode" Fullscreen on the big display and all the sliders on the smaller second Screen togeather with the overview of the Library.
    How is that possible?
    Cheers
    mARTin

I've seen that in the past with other versions of LR. It usually means that your previews database has got messed up. Deleting all previews, previews.db and root-pixels.db, and clearing the acr cache, and then creating new previews solved it for me. It took a day or two (65K previews)

  • Develop Mod. to Print Mod. ?

Running LR5.7.1. on MacPro - no other programs. The  Photo  image in Develop Mod does not transfer to Print Mod for printing - only the FIRST image in any selected Folder does. Happens with all Folders. Tried earlier LR Cat. same problem. Re-installed LR5 - still same issue. This was not happening prior to client photo shoot to Cuba last week, only this past week upon return and adding Cuba photos to LR. Even selecting the photo to print - LR prints the FIRST photo of the Folder - not the selected image.
Need to output client photos, any thoughts would be appreciated.
    thanks

  • I am an absolute newcomer to Lightroom.  I have downloaded images from camera (OMD EM1) and divided them into folders.  Some folders work ok in Develop mode.  With other folders I get the words "This file could not be found".  What should I do

As an absolute newcomer to Lightroom 5 I have downloaded images direct from camera (IOlympus EM-1) and divided them into folders. When I go into Develop mode, some folders can be developed ok , but with images from two other folders I get the message "This file could not be found".  What should I do?

may i suggest opening the files in Olymous Viewer 3  and exporting them (you can do some editing there if you wish or not) asTIFF files. After that you can import the new files into LR. LR seems to like tiiff more than .orf files
The advantage to using OV3 is that it seems to do a much better job converting RAW EM1 files. Colors are more accurate ( my red flower pot turned orange when loaded directly into lightroom)
. The tiff files just LOOK better in LR  after the conversion . there is a youtube on this subject and when i tried it myself i was impressed

  • Why are my processed images now sharper in the Library mode than in Develop mode (LR5)?

In LR 5. Recently I noticed my processed images are sharper in the Library mode than in the Develop mode. This makes doing adjustments difficult because I can't really tell the effect of the adjustments.
    PC, i7, 24GB RAM.
I've tried purging the Camera Raw cache. It's been suggested to purge the Preview cache but I cannot find the Preview cache file. It's also been suggested to clear the Preferences but those file don't show up in a search either even though my PC search is set up to show hidden files and folders.
    Any solutions?

Images can be different between the camera-rendered preview you see before Import and the default Adobe rendering, but after import the thumbnail in the LR grid view shouldn’t be a different tone than the image in the main area.  Is that what you’re saying you’re seeing?
Can you show us a screenshot with both the thumbnail filmstrip and the central area visible as well as the histogram?

  • Why is the image not as sharp in library mode then it is in develop mode?

and the image i email reflects the library image/version (less sharp) not the develop mode image/version.

I just open my MBP before plugging up the TB display.  Then after the TB comes on, I close the MBP back into clamshell mode.  Works better for me that way.
Does that work for you as well?

  • Corruption in LR Develop mode

    Greetings,
I'm on a Mac Power PC running OS 10.5.5 with 6.5 GB RAM on LR 2.1. I am shooting with a Canon 1ds III on SanDisk Extreme IV 4.0 GB cards.
Sometimes I get a rainbow-colored corruption on part or most of an image while working with an image in the develop mode. I recently upgraded to LR 2.0 and was hoping that it would clear up what was happing in LR 1.0 but it has not.
The only good news is that when I restart the computer and then relaunch LR, the corruption disappears before my eyes. In other words, when the image is "loading" in LR's develop mode, the same corruption is there momentarily but then vanishes once the image has fully "loaded."
    Any thoughts?
Let me know if I can provide more information as I'm sure I have not provided enough. I have a screen capture I can email (or post if I knew how).
    Thanks,
    Scott

    Hey Martin,
I can't get your first link to work but what I get is a square or rectangular-rainbow-digital gobbeldigook usually starting from the lower right corner of the image covering anywhere from 5% to 90% of the image.
At the moment, I'm exploring the possibility that mine is RAM-related. I'm able to recover the flawed images after a restart. This points me to a problem with my Mac or the LR software. I could be wrong so take this with a grain of salt.
Anyway, I purchased online (for a buck and change) "Memtest OS X". It checks your RAM for errors/flaws. After running the program, it turns out I have a bad RAM chip in my desktop machine and so I have of course removed it. So far, with working all day today on post, I have had no problems (knock wood). This is by no means final in my mind however and I'm going to continue to cross my fingers and hold my breath for a little while every time I open an image in the develop mode of LR.
I hope this might lead you somewhere as well. I'll report back later after I've had some time to test the waters.
    Any luck on your end?
    Scott

  • Allow editing metadata in develop mode

My biggest dissatisfaction about Lightroom right now is the distinction between Library and Develop modes or views. I would dearly love to get rid of the "quick develop" panel - perhaps make that something that could be displayed via the application prefs - and put the keywords and metadata panels into the develop module. I find myself frequently wanting to switch from one module to another - to add a keyword while I'm adjusting the exposure, or to jump over to the editable histogram while I'm sorting out the keepers from the losers. I don't currently use the Web or Print modules at all, so I just ignore them.
    Will

Quick Develop serves 2 purposes - adjustment of lots of images in increments, and adjustment so you can compare and evaluate images (eg when you've been bracketting). It also uses cached data, while Develop accesses the original image data - so things happen quicker.
I didn't like QD at first either, but I'd recommend you give it more of a chance and don't delete it (you can Alt/Opt click it). Secondly, Ctrl/Cmd click the Sync button in Develop so you enter Auto Sync mode - this makes Develop adjustments apply to all selected items and great reduces the back and forth between Library and Develop.

  • How can I REPLACE original RAW files with JPG's and keep my 'Develop mode' edits?

    An image describing my problem:
    http://i.imgur.com/hcqMYkv.jpg
    (Lightroom 5)
'edits' = Edits made in develop mode.
'CR2' = My RAW image file format.
I have existing CR2's with edits for them saved in Lightroom.
I want to replace the CR2's with JPG's, and do nothing else. I want those JPG's to inherit the CR2's edits, but I DO NOT want the edits to be permanently applied to the image.
If I export the CR2's (which have edits) to JPG's, the edits will be permanently applied to them. I do not want this.
If I export the CR2's to JPG's without the edits, I have no way of getting the edits back and will have to redo the work if I use that photo again.
Any solutions? I've been trying for a while and have no idea how to do this.
Q: Why not keep the CR2's?
A: I am uploading these files to an online host (S3) as my primary storage method and uploading CR2's takes way too long with my internet speeds. Furthermore, online storage costs money.
Q: Why not shoot with JPGs instead of shooting raw?
A: I do my initial edits with the raw files and then archive them as JPG's to save storage space. They won't be raw anymore if I apply future edits, but I still have the option of retouching them from the 'original' state and still have my old edits preserved.

Probably the best thing for you to do is simply use lossy DNG format (e.g. export as, or convert to..): raw data is re-formatted with jpeg compression (full-rez or reduced-rez), but all raw settings apply.
If you insist on trying to have a true jpeg file with (mostly) raw settings, then:
The simplest way I can think of to do it without a script or plugin:
    * Reset the raw photo (consider preserving things that don't translate well, like profile-based lens corrections and white balance).
    * Export jpeg
    * Un-reset the image (e.g. using edit history or pre-reset snapshot).
    * Sync settings from raw to jpeg (note: omit settings that don't transfer well, or that were not reset..).
    * Optionally: Delete raw
To automate/streamline would require a script or plugin.

  • Have trial version of lightroom images display in library and 'before' in developer, but can't display full image to develop.  Shows as a blue box with a white X on it.

I have downloaded and installed Lightroom for a 30 day trial. Library works fine, but when I try to edit images in Develop, I can't see the full size image just a blue box with a white X on it.  If I switch on to Before & After mode, the image displays fine in the before, but still just blue box in the 'after'.  Can't find any answer to this anywhere!  Please help as my trial days are running out.

  • Develop Mode:  Why Do Some Controls Do Nothing

I recently edited a 150 photos.  I notice that certain controls in develop mode have no impact when I make adjustments. A good example is Sharpening. There are no changes to the Histogram (you can tell by the motion) or in the image swatch shown above Sharpening.  Changes to chromatic aberration and noise reduction also have no impact.  Is this a function of the camera, RAW files, or what?  This isn't a complaint.  I am just curious whether my experience is universal (which I doubt because why would Lightroom have the controls) or a result of my camera, lens, camera setting, or subject matter choices.
    Thanks
    Jack Siegel

You need to be view an image at 100% pixel view or higher to see the effects
of the adjustments you listed. This is by design.
