Images are there - but project view is completey empty

Hi Folx,
I have the strangest thing going on in Aperture (OS/Aperture all newest versions):
i did some project exporting - and importing to get rid of a nasty bug in my library,
Now there are two things that bother me:
1st the new library is approx 80 GB smaller then the old one. It does seem to contain all images from the image count, i did check some images if i could open them, i did not "reference" any images or libraries or so, its a little bit strange. but, ok, maybe the old library had some deleted stuff in it which somehow didnt get deleted? possible.
2nd, which is even more strange: when i click on "fotos" in the library, i can scroll through all fotos, they are all there.
But when I click on two specific projects, the fotos are NOT there. there is nothing to see! nothing! the image count says they are there. if i skim over those projects on the project overview, the images appear to be inside this project. but if i select the project itself (or double click on the certain project in project overview) i will get an empty media field, no fotos in sight
and thats only with two projects - all others work. reminder: the fotos are there, they appear to be in this project. the image count shows it on the side of the project. i can select the photos, export them etc. they are just not there if i click the prjects they are in.
I did several time try to rebuild and repair library.
no effect.
i did update all preview pictures and miniatures
no effect

thanks a lot - that simple filter setting in the upper right corner, i had just overlooked it since I allready had so much trouble with my library ;-)

Only question remains: is it ok that the library has 280 instead of 330 GBs now that i exported all projects and imported them again? Can such a difference be?

Imported images are there but won't display

Hello,
    I'm new to Lightroom, but not to digital imaging. I am deciding on whether to use Lightroom as archive software. I've imported photos with various file types into Lightroom, copying them to the default locations, and converting the NEF photos to .dng files. Everything looks like it should in terms of the listings on the left, and the files are where they are supposed to be, in the default locations, and are openable and viewable in photoshop.
    The problem is that all that is displayed in the middle viewer are greyed rectangles. No images. I can export an image in a completely different file type to an external location and view it properly. So all the images are there and LR knows where they are (since it both created and put them there). The filmstrip at the bottom is also just grey rectangles.
    I have no idea what is preventing the images from showing up and I am hoping that someone here can help. I am running XP SP3, and Lightroom 2.5 632038 Raw 5.6. I am importing Nikon NEF files created by both a D300 camera and Coolpix 4000 Scanner. Photoshop reads all of these raw images with their plug-ins. By the way, I have also imported jpg and tiff files and they do not appear in the display either.

    I'm impressed. That was fast and accurate response. I was getting around to a video driver or monitor issue next. I have a Sony Artisan, which is highly calibrateable, but it is not with me, and have been using an available Dell 2408W flat screen monitor. I have Monaco EZcolor for my Epson scanner, with color target, but no display calibrator for the Dell. I tried doing a rough one but it obviously didn't work. Switching to any of the internal profiles for the monitor fixed the problem. Looking at monitor calibration devices brought up the following question, which maybe you might answer. I can buy a Monico XR or X-rite i1 device. I don't know if both will work with EZcolor, or if I should be looking at something more current. Of course, I can go get my Artisan, but it would be nice to be able to calibrate the monitor I'm using.

Music plays, playlists are there but the song list is empty!?

The strangest things has happened with iTunes 7.3.2 today: all the playlists are there, I can even play the music, but the song list window is totaly empty! How has this happened and what can I do to restore the list?
I've checked the .xml library file and everything seems to be all right in there. I've even tried recreating it but that didn't help.
The last thing I remember doing with iTunes was creating a playlist and burning it as an audio CD.
When I try any kind of operation on the playlists, the iTunes crashes down. When I start it, it normally loads the library as if everything is fine.
When switching between the playlists, I can play each individual playlist but I can't see any content. The song list window is just blank.
Has anyone experienced anything like this? What can be done apart from recreating the whole library from the scratch? There is over 65 GB of music in the library on the external drive.

Problem solved. First I've tried importing from the .xml library file but that didn't help. As a last resort I've re-installed iTunes completely and everything is back to normal now.

Tried to reinstall iPhoto library from external hard drive, it shows that the photos and events are there but there are no thumbnails and if you click on an image or video nothing comes up.

My hard drive crashed recently and we took it to apple to get repaired. The apple employees said that they would have to replace the hard drive but they didn't have the equipment to get the data off my hard drive. So I took it to a computer store who had the right equipment after a month and a half of waiting they finally got all the data off my hard drive and put it on an external hard drive (Seagate Expansion Portable Drive). I then took it back to apple who replaced the hard drive. Now I'm in the process of reinstalling everything. I have never done a Time Machine back up or backed my laptop up to . Which I now will do very often once I've reinstalled everything. I have reinstalled all of my desktop images and folders as well as my iTunes library with no issues. However when i went to reinstall my iPhoto library it came up blank. I then Rebuilt the library several times and this was the result.
It shows that the photos and events are there but there are no thumbnails and if you click on an image or video nothing comes up.
Please help i have three years worth of images from holidays on here and would be devastated if i lost them.

iPhoto cannot find the thumbnails or the original pictures.
Go to your iPhoto Library in the Pictures Folder.
Right-click on it and from the resulting menu, choose 'Show Package Contents'.
This will bring you inside the iPhoto Library package. There you should see a Folder called Masters. Within that, there should be folder containing your actual photos.
Are they there?

Images are missing in Project Manager

I’m replacing old images with new ones in RoboHelp HTML 10.
I’ve deleted the old pictures in Design view and pasted the new pictures in. (I know this is not the recommended way but with lake of time I found it to be the fastest way and we don’t feel the need to give the files described names at the moment.)
It has worked fine until now when I noticed that some images are not showing in Project Manager. I see the “folder” Images and I see a lot off images there but some are missing. The “missing” images are shown in Design view and in the browser after publishing. But in the report Unused files the “missing” images are listed as unused.
I have tried to
close and reopen the project,
generate and publish the project,
delete an “missing” image from Design view and insert it by using Insert / Image. After saving this image, and some other “missing” images, are shown in Project Manager. But not all “missing” images.
Does anyone know why this is, or more important how to get Project Manager to show all images that are used in the project (without having to go through all 154 images trying to figure out which are used but “missing”)?
Some more facts:
They are all gif-images.
They are all stored at the top-level in the project folder. (Are there a limit how many images there can be in the top-level folder? Should I create a separate folder and move the pictures there?)

I would have said "Try renaming the folder containing the images in Rh's Project Manager. That sometimes fixes the problem. You can revert to the old name afterwards."
Keeping all the images, and / or topics, in the root is never a good idea. It can slow things down and it's messy.
You can move the images you can see but obviously you cannot move the others. Try moving a topic that has one of the images to a different folder and see if that refreshes. Also try deleting the CPD file and reopening Rh.
Backup first.

Photoshop images are grainy when I view/edit them

I have used Photoshop CS3 for a year now with my 15-megapixel DSLR camera and used to be able to edit photos in PS just fine. But about 2 months ago I upgraded to CS4 and since then, all my images are super grainy when viewing and editing them in PS. I know it has nothing to do with the way I'm saving the images as they show grainy in photoshop before I even do anything to them. And when uploading them online, they're still super grainy even though they weren't before back when I was using CS3
Anyone have any idea why?

Well, that's the thing. The camera settings are the exact same as they were when I was running CS3 when everything was fine. The only variable that changed was installing CS4. After I did that, even though the camera settings DID NOT change, the images all of a sudden became grainy
I thought it may be a hardware issue so I upgraded the video card to one that greatly exceeds the requirements, but still no joy. I also did the Ctrl+Alt+Shift method to clear settings in case there was a rougue setting somewhere that was causing it. Still no luck

Disable Photo Stream in iPhoto's preferences and then go back and reenable it. See if that will jump start the process. If that doesn't help try this: make a temporary, backup copy (if you don't already have a backup copy) of the library and try the following:
1 - delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your
User/Home()/Library/ Preferences folder.
2 - delete iPhoto's cache file, Cache.db, that is located in your
User/Home()/Library/Caches/com.apple.iPhoto folder.

3 - launch iPhoto check its preferences to meka sure all is as you expect and try again.
NOTE: If you're moved your library from its default location in your Home/Pictures folder you will have to point iPhoto to its new location when you next open iPhoto by holding down the Option key when launching iPhoto. You'll also have to reset the iPhoto's various preferences.
NOTE 2: In Lion and Mountain Lion the Library folder is now invisible. To make it permanently visible enter the following in the Terminal application window: chflags nohidden ~/Library and hit the Enter button - 10.7: Un-hide the User Library folder.

I tried to sync music from iTunes to my iPhone and when I click on "on this phone" the songs are there, but they are greyed out and have a circle in front of them. I can not click on those songs and when I eject the phone they are not on the phone.

I am having the same problem. I have just tried this. Unplug iphone > open itunes > delete all music from itunes library > close itunes > re-open itunes > add music from original folder > plug in iphone > select songs > press sync > unplug iphone using eject button onscreen > checked phone .... still nothing in music folder on phone. On itunes the "On this iphone" tab the songs remain there but greyed out.

How can I restore my playlist folders in itunes? They are there but the individual song titles aren't listed. They are only listed by album. This makes it very difficult to find songs in my playlist. Also,when I click on music, it will not list options.

It sounds like your issue here is that iTunes can not find the files for some of the songs you have brought into it. This happens occasionally even if the songs have not been moved from the location that iTunes places them on import or purchase. When you try to use the song, iTunes prompts you to find the file, as you have seen.
To find the file, use the information in this article to navigate through the iTunes media folders -
Locate and organize your iTunes files
If you are still unable to locate the files, you may need to download them from the iTunes store again, or rip them from your CDs. See this article for assistance with downloading your past purchases -

The image is there but is invisible. same issue when I want to draw a line. Impossible to color the line and when I increased the thickness, it was creating a sort of wrap around the shape. have you ever encountered this kind of issue ? Thanking the community for his help.

iTunes Match is a subscription system that allows you to upload your own music (e.g. coped from CDs) to the cloud so that it shows (in the cloud) on your devices and computers without having to sync/copy it.
Automatic downloads allows to, for example, buy an app on your computer's iTunes and have it automatically download on your phone without having to connect and sync it or go to the Purchased tab in the App Store app on your download and download it yourself - but doing that, going to the Purchased tab and redownloading an app, should get it associated.
But no, I'm not aware of any problems that not having it associated causes.

You get this message because iTunes can’t find the file. This can happen for a number of reasons:
The song file or a folder in its path was renamed
The song file or the folder it is in has been moved
The song file has been deleted
The device containing the song files e.g. external drive is not accessible or the drive letter has changed.
Do any of these aply to you?
