Images gone from presentation, when replacing "image couldn't be inserted."

Keynote 6.2, OSX 10.9.4, 1st gen Macbook Pro Retina
I have a presentation that had a bunch of images that are now gone (replaced by the grey square with the "?"). When I open the presentation I get a "Some images are missing because they were deleted from the document" warning. I understand that this usually means that there is an issue with the source image, but there are a few things happening for me:
1) When I try to "Replace" an image (mostly .png) I can find the right image in the folder where I left it. If I select that image, which has the same title and is in the same directory as the day I first gave the presentation, I get a "The image 'example.png' couldn't be inserted" warning.
2) If I try to Insert>Choose an image I get a "The image 'example.png' couldn't be inserted. The image is of an unsupported file type" notification. If I open a new presentation there are not problems inserting an image.
3) There are many images that are "droppedImage.tiff" and "pasted-image.pdf". Shouldn't these have been embedded in the file itself?
4) There are two images from roughly 50 slides that still have their images. Both are "pasted-image.pdf" and if I remember right they were the last images I added.
My guess is that the presentation is lost and I'll have to rebuild, but the problems I'm having are so unusual that I hope there is something can be done.
The last update to this presentation was June 23rd, so I believe (though I could be wrong) that I was using Keynote 6.2 at the time. I usually update right away.

You may need to convert those files to PDF before they can be inserted into Keynote:

Keynote error: 'The image couldn't be inserted'

Hi everyone,
Every time I want to insert an image, it keeps saying: 'The image "<image name>" couldn't be inserted.' It does this while using 'Insert > Choose..' and with drag & drop. Please tell me how to fix this. Keynote is unusable for me this way, and I really really need it for work purposes :/
BTW i'm using Keynote 6.5.2, but i also had the same problem when i was running 6.2.2.
Anyone? I'm at a loss here..

Okay, so I found myself in this same wrist-slitting situation, and just tried doing a bunch of different things.
What seems to work is this:
Create a new Keynote file.
Drag the slides from the "corrupt" Keynote file into the new Keynote file.
The photos will still be missing, but you can "replace" them now ... if you don't remember which ones they are, select the missing picture in the "corrupt" file and then check the file name of that photo in the "Format" tab in the Image tab. Then in the new file, click on the missing photo and go to "replace" to get the correct photo back into your slide in the new file.
In this way you at least still have your Animate build-ins and build-outs, as well as Transitions and Sizing and Positioning ... BUT DO DOUBLE-CHECK ... I had a few that had to be adjusted, I confess.
This solution is FAR LESS THAN IDEAL, but given the radio silence from Apple on this, I guess those of us out here in the hinterlands need to jerry-rig the system as best we can. Good luck!

The image couldn't be inserted into keynote

I am creating a presentation in Keynote version 6.2, and need to insert many EPS images.
Every 2nd or 3rd time I get the error "The image "imageName.eps" couldn't be inserted without any further explanation.
Then I found out that its necessary to restart the computer, after restart I can insert 2-3 image before getting again the same error, requiring another restart.
So to produce a larger presentation I have to restart the computer 100s of times. Extremely inconvenient. I have never seen this error in earlier versions.
Anybody have the same problem?

Disk images couldn't be opened when downloading .dmg file

Since I upgraded to Yosemite I haven't been able to instal a .dmg file for upgrade of adobe - assumed a corrupt file but it wasn't vital so I ignored it until today when I needed to use the player.
I have run disk verification/permission checks - all ok & I have turned off security & firewalls but, even with deleting and redownloading the files several times after purging the error code still says
'The following disk images couldn't be opened' = reason given 'No such file or directory'
I have also tried to download Opera and Chrome today - the same error occurs.
Running Yosemite on Macbook pro from 2013 - all softwares up to date and problem recent - can anyone help?

Same problem here. Restarting Mac fixes it for awhile, but then I start getting the "No such file" error again.

Why are my images suddenly gone from lightroom?

A few days ago I imported 101 images from an SD card to my Lightroom catalog. The images are still in the two locations they imported to on my hard drive and backup drive. But the folder is suddenly not in my catalog. I had sorted and worked on all of these and really don't want to start over. Any ideas where they may have gone?

Im not really sure what info is necessary...I uploaded to my existing catalog. I store my catalog in my dropbox folder for syncing with my iMac. I am on the road so there is no syncing going on with crappy hotel room wifi, but imported into my existing catalog, choosing my desktop for the destination. And a backup to an external. Today I imported todays pics, and noticed the folder from a few days ago was gone. It still sits on my desktop, and external, but all record of it is gone from lightroom. Searched by file name, etc... I had done edits to the pics and now they are all gone. I have 20,000 photos in lightroom, and have never had this happen.

To use it as an iPod it must be activated...to do that it has to accept a sim. A blacklisted iPhone cannot do that. Take it back to AT and T where you got it and get your money back.

Can't install downloads, "Disc images couldn't be displayed"

I have just received my new Lion running Mac Mini. I was able to download the latest version of Flash player, but when I tried to install it the icon would only appear briefly, and would then be replaced with the error "disc images couldn't be displayed" with the reason given as 'no mountable file systems' this is the same for other things I have downloaded. I am (in general) clueless!

Hi, gensat651. Welcome to the Discussions.
DC++ is a Windows-only program. It does not run under Mac OS X, hence you cannot install it under Mac OS X.
To locate freeware and shareware applications for Mac OS X, I recommend searching MacUpdate or Version Tracker. The user-submitted reviews accompanying the listings can be helpful in sorting the wheat from the chaff.

I would recommend reinstalling Mountain Lion to replace the missing/damaged components of these applications. While the process shouldn't affect any data (images, music, etc) you have on the system, it's always a good idea to have a backup in place prior to reinstalling.

I'm not Klaus but can give an opinion on this part:
As a Mac man yourself do you think that the retina display is worth waiting for?
I'm 65, have used Macs since 1989, and struggle with displays, cataracts, and bifocals. What I've seen of the Retinas in stores is that text size gets sacrificed for image quality. There are quite a few complaints about Retina in the MacBook Pro forums about not being able to increase the size of menu text without it getting fuzzy.
My iMac 27-inch is about a year old and I can set the display res from its default of 2560x1440 to 1920x1080 and everything is sharp. I understand that handy trick will not work for either the older hi-res macbook pros or the Retinas, so I don't expect it for any other Macs.
Speculation on Apple policy and new product releases is actiually not allowed by the Terms of Use around here so I doubt you'll get an answer to the "when" part. Anyone who does answer "when" is either guessing it up or violating a non-disclosure agreement! Apple plays its cards close to its vest and we average users only know "when" when Apple posts the announcement.

Frustrated! CS5 Design Premium stuck extracting, disc images couldn't be opened :(

Hello out there! I have searched the forums and all over the web trying to find a solution to this issue. I am extremely frustrated and hoping to get some help as I have been holding for Adobe Customer Support for over 3 hours and have given up hope there. I have been trying to personally trouble shoot this issue for over a week, so if anyone can help i would be extremely grateful!!!
I am trying to install the downloaded adobe creative suite 5.5 design premium. The files have downloaded and are now stuck on "extracting... this may take a while". An warning immediately pops up that said "The following disc images couldn't be opened" and then references - Image: DesignPremium_CS5_5, Reason: error-4960.
I have tried to download the suite several times and as soon as I open up the installer, it takes me to the very same point of download, which is "extracting" and the error message keeps popping up. I thought maybe there was some type of corruption that took place during the download, so I even deleted the user account and all applications and files and overwrote the drive, then created a new user account in order to reset the download. After waiting another 3.5 hours for the suite to download, it is happening all over again. I am on a brand new macbook pro, running os x 10.7.2

Back up all data.
Launch the Keychain Access application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Keychain Access in the icon grid.
Select the login keychain from the list on the left side of the Keychain Access window. If your default keychain has a different name, select that.
If the lock icon in the top left corner of the window shows that the keychain is locked, click to unlock it. You'll be prompted for the keychain password, which is the same as your login password, unless you've changed it.
Right-click or control-click the login entry in the list. From the menu that pops up, select Change Settings for Keychain "login". In the sheet that opens, uncheck both boxes, if not already unchecked.
From the menu bar, select
Keychain Access ▹ Preferences ▹ First Aid
If the box marked Keep login keychain unlocked is not checked, check it.
Select
Keychain Access ▹ Keychain First Aid
from the menu bar and repair the keychain. Quit Keychain Access.
