Images saved from photoshop showing really dark in windows

Hey! So i'm having some problems with creating images in photoshop and then exporting them into windows. So when I have an image in Photoshop, it's normal colour, but wen when I save it into windows it shows up as really dark and you can't see any details at all. I'm using the Photoshop CC 2014 version and running Windows 8.1. Anyone know how to fix this problem so the images show up normal colour in windows? Here is an example of what I mean

  • I am getting errors upon use of JPG images, saved from Photoshop, in Encore.

How do I use Photoshop JPG images in Encore without errors?
When using camera jpg images, saved by Photoshop (either save, or image manipulation like autocolor then save, no other Photoshop options were tested), Encore will either :
    1) generate an image import error: "The software that's used to decode the media is not available on this system.  Installing the correct decoders for the files you are working with may help to correct the problem." and be unable to import the image,
    2) Image import stops before completion (Encore stops responding and must be Closed by Windows Task Manager), or
    3) with a number of images imported, upon attempts to create a Slideshow, Slideshow creation will stop while in progress, and Encore does not respond (Encore must be Closed by Windows Task Manager).
Import and Slideshow creation using untouched camera images is nominal and uneventful.
Import and Slideshow creation using PhotoShop(64bit) GIF (copy) images is nominal and uneventful.

The common cause of this issue is still image files where the pixel size is too large. This warranted its own help page, which is now a dead link.
    http://helpx.adobe.com/encore/kb/error-software-used-decode-media.html
But I assume the pixel size is the same whether you are processing them in Photoshop or not. but the main point is that the underlying problem is not about decoders. Encore encounters a problems dealing with the file and throws the only error it (apparently) has. So you are looking for anything like that: pixel size, changes between rgb and cmyk, extra metadata in files. Maybe even filename oddities (length, special characters).
I would look in part at what versions you are using and compatibility settings.
I would save them as png or psd.

  • Images saving from Photoshop to Lightroom are saved way lighter

I first work on an image in Lightroom. Then, I sent a copy with LR edits to Photoshop where I continue to work on the image. When I am done editing in Photoshop and Save - the image goes back to LR, but the Photoshop Tiff copy in LR is far lighter than the image that was saved from editing in Photoshop. If I open the PS image from finder it looks fine - it is darker than the same file as seen in LR.

No problem. Waiting for a video rendering and upload to finish ;-)
If it is fixed in another account than it is highly likely that a develop preset or default gets applied to your images. This happens quite easily and has happened to me unknowingly too. Basically you would by accident have hit the Reset button in Develop while the option key was pressed. What you want to do is to go into Preferences->Presets and hit the button that says "Reset all default Develop settings". Then hit reset on your image. If none of that works, you can always trash the Lightroom preferences file. Quit out of Lightroom, go to the Finder. Hit command-Shift-G. Type ~/Library/Preferences/ in the display that you get to reveal the hidden by default preferences folder in your home account. Find the file that is called com.adobe.Lightroom5.plist (you might not see the plist extension on your computer) and drag that to the trash. Now start Lightroom again and your Lightroom should behave as if you just installed it. You might have to point it to your catalog file if it doesn't open with it there but with an empty catalog. File->Open Catalog-> select your main catalog.

Ok, look at your files in Photoshop. What is the profile assigned to them? You can find this out by going to the Status bar at the bottom, clicking on the right-pointing triangle and choosing document Profile from the list.
Then in Windows, go to your Control Panel > Color Management and add sRGB (if it isn't there) and select it as your default profile.
    I hope that will work.

  • Images saved from Mobile Safari are significantly degraded

When I tried to use an image saved from Mobile Safari as my wallpaper I noticed that it looked horrible. It was blurry and more importantly the dynamic range of the image had been compressed, blowing out all the detail in the bright areas of the image and making it contrastier. This is especially bad on the type of photo I was trying to use, a high-key image, where most of the detail is in the light tones. Much of the image was simply displayed as blank white.
As a test I tried emailing the image I had saved into Photos to myself and compared it to the original I had saved from the web. Sure enough, the image was blurrier and had less dynamic range so it's not just an iPhone display issue. Also, the image was only 27% smaller in file size and the pixel dimensions were actually slightly increased. A quick re-save in Photoshop with JPEG quality set to low (4) reduced the file size by 53% while still not affecting the image anything like what the iPhone did. So it doesn't make sense that the poor quality is only due to resizing for faster transmission.
Can anyone else confirm this or replicate the issue? I've verified this with a 1st gen and 3G iPhone side by side, both running OS 2.1.

    No, it's not only you.
I noticed it too. As a matter of fact, I just posted a really long post in a thread about iPhone/iPod Touch's photo quality.

  • Jpeg thumbnails too small when saved from Photoshop

Since moving to Snow Leopard, I notice that the Finder shows jpegs saved from Photoshop quite a bit smaller than jpegs saved using other apps, like Preview or just scanned images. This makes viewing the thumbnails in the Finder harder. Does anyone know why this is happening and how to fix it?
I would post a screen grab to show this, but I can't see how to do that here. If anyone knows, please let me know.
    Thanks

That's because Photoshop creates its own rather smallish icons (by the new standards) for the files. If you remove custom thumbnails and let Finder draw them they'll be scalable all the way up to 512x512. There is a preference from within Photoshop to tell it to NOT create icons. Go to PS prefs, select Saving Files, and turn off Image Previews. The advantage is that the icons can be drawn larger; the disadvantage is that they will appear in Finder more slowly, since instead of simply displaying what is there Finder has to draw the icons. Furthermore, Finder doesn't always draw the icons with the clarity one would expect: sometimes they never do appear as sharp as they ought to be (there are several very lengthy threads discussing this problem, with no real solution), sometimes they slowly appear in all their large glory.
Oh, and to post a picture, as in my signature, you have to have the image available somewhere online, then add an image tag.

  • Images saved in Photoshop appear with distortion horizontally across - like a faint line

Images saved in Photoshop appear with distortion horizontally across - like a faint line.
It happens in all formates I try such as JPEG, TIFF, PDF and PSD files.
It looks like broken pixel lines across and if it runs through a word or logo can break it up.
    Please help???

I know you cant see probably from the photo below as I had to try to block out the faces, but the person on the far right, under her eyes you can see almost a double eye and then if you follw that line across the 2nd person from left look like funny chin.
    This distortion happens horizontally.
Also see the letter number below. That break line runs across the entire page but is obviously more noticable in different areas of the image.

  • Some images saved in Photoshop CS will not open in Photoshop 6

We have confirmed that some files saved from Photoshop CS will not open in Photoshop 6. This is due to a bug in Photoshop 6, not in CS.
These files open correctly in Photoshop 3, 4, 5, 5.5, 7 and CS on both platforms.
The solution is to upgrade the copies of Photoshop 6 to Photoshop CS.

    Hi sig,
I actually did try reinstally Photoshop - even reinstalled my operating system. I looked for the file "Adobe Unit Types" and see that it is indeed there in the ScriptingAdditions folder. But I still cannot open the tif files.
I should also mention all my tif files have the .tif extension on them (in case anyone suggests that's the issue.)
And, this problem is the same with Illustrator CS .ai files as well.
    Any other ideas?
    Thanks.

  • Does the font interface in Photoshop show big enough in Windows 7?

Does the font interface in Photoshop show big enough in Windows 7?
I purchasde a new Pc with Windows 8, and the Photoshop and Bridge Interface is not readable, it is miniscule, Adobe, Microsoft and DEll cannot fix problem. So I am returning my PC, and need to purchase a new one, can anyone tell me if the font is big enough, say size 12 or 14 (normal size) on window 7?
    Can anyone recommend a PC?

Yes, though you might have a system setting or some utility installed that modifies the drawing of fonts or UI in applications.

  • Images saved in Photoshop CS6 as PNG or jpeg won't open on Windows computers

I recently saved an image on Photoshop CS6 as a PNG file so I could send it as an attachment to a client (who uses a Windows computer). They told me the file wouldn't open and instead showed as an "Unknown File".
I tried opening the file on my Windows computer, as well as a JPEG version to test out, but both came up as "Unknown Files".
The only way I could transfer the files I saved in Photoshop was to export them as PNG through the 'Preview' application.
Is there a reason why these normal formats won't open properly?

  • Canon Pixma Pro-100 printer ejects 3.8 in of a 4X6 paper and prints only 2.2 in of the image printing from Photoshop CS6, I'm sure I set everything correctly - what could I be missing?

Using Mac Pro running Snow Leopard (10.6.8) & editing & printing from Photoshop CS 6.
Have new Canon Pixma Pro-100 printer and set it up yesterday.  First thing printed was a
document from MS Word (a letter) 8.5 X 11 plain paper - this came out OK.  Next I fire up
Photoshop and open a 4 X 6 inch image to do a test print.  I set it up in the print dialog as
4X6 paper, Canon's Pro Glossy paper profile, rear tray, standard print quality, Photoshop
manages the color.  I load the paper in the rear tray close the covers and hit print.  Now, when
it starts to print the printer moves about 3.8 inches of paper out of the printer and starts printing
on the remaining 2.2 inches then spits the paper out.  It does this in Photoshop (any image it doesn't
matter), and it does it printing from Capture NX.  I have been able to get it to print on the paper
correctly using Apple's Preview program but that that's not going to do me any good.  I was on
the phone with Canon tech support for about 2 hours and they were completely puzzled suggesting
I would have to use Canon's printing apps instead to print - that doesn't do me any good either.
I want to be able to print from Photoshop.  Any one every heard of this or experienced the same
    problem? Thanks JamesD!

Hello again. I recognize that a print is good if you like it and bad if you don't, despite what others might say, but I will at least share my experiences. They might help you or others who are following this thread.
My monitor is calibrated with Spyder 3. Gamma 2.2, 6500K, 83 cd/m^2. Contrast at 50%; brightness about 52%. My monitor lets me choose blackness level - it defaults to 50%.
When I print the test image I linked to above, using Lightroom, with no adjustments, my technical output is as follows:
Middle step wedge shows twelve disticnt steps. Whitest step is color of unprinted paper.
It varies from paper to paper, but I can discerne at least the 252 step and on some papers 253 - telling me I have good highlight detail.
On the black side I discerne 8 or 10, nothing lower. (That sounds like what you are reporting).
Artistically I am very happy how my print looks - nice red strawberries, good flesh tones, etc.
One my monitor, the on-screen image is almost identical to the print. I am surprised that you can see the 2 wedge step on screen at a very similar brightness.
I also checked out this B&W test image:
    http://www.northlight-images.co.uk/article_pages/bw_printing/bw-test-image-2.html
You are probably aware of this since you are printing with Print Studio Pro, but others may not be.
You can print a series of test images:
find the one that best suits your taste, enter the calibration values in PSP, and save them as a custom setting. Then, each time you want to print recall the setting.
You can do a similar thing in Lightroom using the printer driver and User Templates.
There would be some one-time trial and error to that approach.

  • Cannot locate images saved from CS5

I recently upgraded not only from CS3 to CS5, but also from a PC to a Mac. I am having trouble locating some of the images that I am saving from CS5 in the folder that I saved them in. For example, I edited approximately 10 images and saved them into a new folder. When I started to upload them, I noticed that 4 of them were not in the folder that I saved them to. I checked first to make sure I had not saved them in the original folder, and I didn't. Next, I checked the images in photoshop to see if they had been saved. And they had been. Then I tried to save them again into the folder and it told me that this file already exists. But...it's not there. Or at least I cannot find it. Anyone have any idea where these saved images are hiding?

On Mac, the default folder is your user document folder - very much like on a PC. It's actual location on the mac volume is Mac HD:Users:Abingram:Documents, assuming default names. You should have no problems finding them. Saving them to another location should work just the same, but since user management is more rigid in UNIX environments, you may simply not see it if it is in a system folder or another user's folder. OSX actually hides some of these folders then and they are excluded from your personal Spotlight search. To circumevent this and recover your files, you might try to grant yourself admin privileges temporarily in your user control panel ("User can manage this computer"). If you are the only user, this already should be the case and then you may need to check folder permissions by invoking the info panle (Cmd+I)...

  • Lightroom not updating when saved from Photoshop export

I just recently upgraded to Windows 7 x64, and had to reload both my Lightroom and CS4, and have just run into this issue when I export from Lightroom to Photoshop.  It used to work fine (with my previous installation in XP x64) that when I hit Ctrl+S in Photoshop it would immediately update the view of the file in LR.  This was extremely useful since i run two 24" calibrated LCDs, then I could immediately see in the lR monitor (usually at 50-100% zoom) if I liked my local adjustments (that are always zoomed to 300%+) in Photoshop wihtout having to change zoom level in Photoshop.  Now to get LR to show any Photoshop update after a Ctrl+S, I have to click back into LR and then move forward and backward (I use arrow keys) between images to get LR to update the display.  Any reason this would now be happening, is there some setting in LR to get it to detect the file save and change from Photoshop.
Any help or ideas appreciated, this is killing my edit time and frustration level!

I totally forgot about this issue.  You have to actually go set the Photoshop.exe file to be your second editor in LR preferences and then it will complain about PS being already setup, you select 'Use Anyway' and then when you right-click in LR and choose 'Edit In' select the 2ndary Photoshop editor you just setup and it will bring up the dialog about what settings to use for the image and then dump it into PS.  After that as you Ctrl+S in PS it will auto-update the display in LR.
    Self-Solved... hope this helps someone!

  • Blurring of images imported from photoshop?

I have latest version of iMovie and OS. When I import images from photoshop, I get blurring of the image and sometimes pixilation. I looks normal in the workspace viewer but when I play the timeline the image deteriorates.

Thanks for looking at my problem. When I looked carefully at the new name (thanks dj for telling me to do that) I realized that the name had parts of what I had added as a preset and applied in External Editing. What appears to have happened is that my original preset was corrupted and dropped out the part that told it to use the original file name. I have repaired it and now all is well. Thanks for the responses and the help! Much appreciated.
