IMessage & iPod

Hello everybody,
I have two little issues. Maybe someone has an advice or can help me to understand the problem:
I have an iPhone 4S with the latest iOS update! If you need more details, just let me know.
1. When I started using iMessage, as described by Apple, and I type in the number of the receiver the little bubble turns green or blue, depending on if the other side can use iMessage or not. Since a few weeks, it always stays green at the beginning. Then I send a text message (for the first time to the person), which I have to pay for (even if I know the other side has an iPhone with iMessage). As soon as I get an answer from the other side, the bubble is blue and says iMessage. From that point I can start using iMessage with this person. Is this normal? Do I have to wait for an answer from someone to find out that there is an iMessage connection? Or could it be that this person just activated iMessage and the register process just takes a while?
2.Sometimes my iPod in my iPhone has a little problem. When I start it with the button on my headphone it stops after 2 sec. I have to press the button again, and after 2 sec. it stops again. When I do it the third time, it starts and runs, but after a few seconds the music gets a terrible hick up. It can not be the song/file, because when I start the music from the iPod App again, the music quality is fine. Is it a known issue?
Thank you for your help in advance.

  • IMessage iPod Touch/Mac Problems?

I've had a 16GB 4G iPod Touch for about a year. I just purchased a Macbook Pro as well. My problem is minor, not a big deal, but I'm curious as to why this is happening...
When I'm messaging someone who isn't in a wifi zone (I'm sure of it) knowing they'll recieve the messages later, I'll casually iMessage either from the Mac or the iPod, each updating my latest messages as I do that. However, oddly, if I'm sending messages on the Mac, of course it doesn't say delivered underneath, as they are not delivering. However, as I glance over to my iPod, they're all coming up as delivered?? And same the other way around - I'll type on the iPod, send, and then no delivery, yet "delivered" underneath the message on the Mac..
I'm trying to understand this. Any insight?
    Thanks!

Is the firewall enabled on the Mac mini? If so, you will need to enable Personal Web Sharing on the Mac mini. This punches a hole through the firewall so that the normal web browsing port is accessible via the shared connection.

  • Not receiving iMessages after attempting to link accounts by adding additional email address.

I tried to link my daughters iMessages (iPod) to my account (iPhone). On my iphone I went to settings/ messages/ send and receive/ add another email. I was told that I could not add her email address and was directed to 'cancel' or 'remove email address'. I chose to remove it and was told that 'you will no longer be able to receive iMessages from (email address) on any device. Foolishly I continued and now she is not receiving her messages. How can I get them back?

Go to Settings>Messages>Send and Receive and sign out of your ID and then sign in again.

  • How do you find your iPod phone number

I can't find my number and I need to give it to my friends for iMessage.

iPod Touches don't have a phone number. If you have a apple account, go onto to settings, go to imessage and log into your apple account. Your iMessage will be the email address you have logged into.

Which iPod model do you have? Depending on the model and the iOS version, the apps can be different.
Some apps are only made for iOS5, for example iMessage.

Certaines applications ne sont faites que pour iOS5, par exemple IMessage.

  • How do I start an iMessage conversation?

I updated my iPhone to the new iOS software. I can't figure out how to start an iMessage conversation. And there is no iMessage app. Help me figure this out!!! Thanks

    That's what I've said.
iMessage uses different path to get to its destination. iMessage uses Wi-Fi (hence I mentioned iPod Touch since it will make it clear that no 3G is involved). iMessage without the Wi-FI connection will be just SMS texting and it has nothing do with iMessage. (iPod Touch cannot do SMS) It a fine distinction.
    Here also some apple links
    http://www.apple.com/ipodtouch/built-in-apps/messages.html
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3529
In this link see the bold and unterlined text
Note: On iPhone, if iMessage is unavailable, the message may be sent as SMS or MMS, depending on content. Carrier messaging rates may apply. You can turn this on or off in iPhone at Settings > Messages > Send As SMS. Messages sent using iMessage will appear in a light blue bubble, while messages sent using SMS or MMS will appear in a green bubble.

  • IMessages go through to a specific contact using an iPod while signed into a different iMessage account on an iPad, but iMessages do not go through using my main iMessage account or iPhone number. Have I been blocked?

I have a friend who uses an iPod to iMessage me and about two nights ago, my messages to him from my iPhone were no longer listed as delivered and then I started getting the message "Contact is unavailable. This person cannot be reached by iMessage at this time."  I have my main iMessage email and phone number linked to my iPhone. I decided to try messaging him from an iPad that only has my iMessage email linked to it, and the iPad gave me a message saying his email is not linked to an iMessage account. After that, I tried ANOTHER iPad. This one runs iOS 5 and has a separate iMessage email linked to it and the messages were not listed as delivered, but they did not give me a failure message. I unlinked my main iMessage email from my phone and linked the secondary iMessage email to it. I still got the first message about the contact being unavailable when I attempted to send a message from my iPhone. Then, I messaged him again from the iPad running iOS 5, and the message I sent showed up on my iPhone and was listed as delivered. Is it possible this friend has blocked me? He has not messaged me for two days. I was under the impression a block would simply result in my messages being listed as delivered, not that the contact would be unavailable or that his email is not linked to an iMessage account. Is there any way to force my iPhone to send messages to him using only my iMessage email and not cell phone number?  Is this actually a fluke and he has deleted his iMessage account, but the iPad running iOS 5 did not recognize that? But why would my iphone list the messages as delivered then?

After much research went with Comcast. Package includes 12mbs, phone service, all premium channels, 2 HD dvrs, 1 HD receiver. After promos end I will be paying more, but I'm getting more. Customer service before purchase and installation phenomenal. I actually set up order over phone instead of online because of the customer service. No complaints about Direct TV, but canceeling them also because from having to shop for new Isp resulted in this. My speedtest now says I am 85% faster than most of the U.S. I am very happy. I would consider my verizon problem solved. Oh, free router also.

  • How do I use iMessage between an iPhone & an iPod Touch?

  • IMessage not getting messages on mac but I receive them on my iPod

I get messages on my iPod so I know people reply but when I look on my mac iMessage I don't have the messages. Same account everything its like my mac isn't receiving push notifications. Is there anyway to "reboot" iMessage on mac. I quit and open. I've signed out and signed back in on Accounts but nothing seems to work.
    Thankyou for your help.

    Hi,
Can you Send from the Mac ?
Do the Contacts names go red every time you try them in the 'to Spot to Start a conversation ?  (Not Registered message)
Or do you get an alert under the text you just sent that read "Not Delivered"
After that check the Contacts app on both are syncing.
    NOTE.
    com.apple.ichat.StatusMessages.plist  only contains this info
It is the info in this drop down
This side has nothing to do with the iMessages accounts.
The same menu appears in the Menu Bar Drop down (if you display it) and the Messages > My Status item.
You could try deleting com.apple.imagent.plist as this holds all the accounts that Login in Messages and FaceTime and may give it an suitable "restart"

  • IMessage on iPod touch 4th gen HELP!!!

Hi. We have four devices attached to one iCloud, all with separate email addresses for iMessage and FaceTime. This has worked well for ages until recently. Miss A is now getting Miss K's iMessages on her iPod (as well as Miss K receiving them on her own iPod).
I have checked in settings on both iPods and their respective emails are the only ones ticked for their own iPods. The other emails are listed but greyed out/not ticked.
Why would Miss A be getting messages for a not selected email address?
As you can imagine, Miss K is not happy that her little sister can read her texts!!!
    Any suggestions? Thanks is advance.

SOlved! Turned Bluetooth off on both devices and that seemed to stop it.

  • My husband and I have upgraded our phones (iPhone 4s and iPhone 5) to the iPhone 5s.  We have given 2 of our kids the "old" phones and want to set them up as an iPod touch.  Both kids have email and need to be able to text (iMessage).

My husband and I have upgraded our phones (iPhone 4s and iPhone 5) to the iPhone 5s.  We have given 2 of our kids the "old" phones and want to set them up as an iPod touch.  Both kids have email and need to be able to text (iMessage).
I have read multiple posts on how to do this and I am still confused.
    Apple ID/ICoud:
We want to be able to monitor what they do, but do not want their devices linked to our emails/contacts/etc...  Each kid has their own email account.  So, from what I have read the best way to do this is to use our family Apple ID, but set them up with a separate iCloud account?  Is this correct?
    Reset/Restore/DFU:
To start fresh we have done multiple factory resets.  I did one that someone said was a DFU and a plan ol' factory reset, etc...  Not sure the difference.  However, when I do that I get the "hello" screen and am able to start setting the phone up anew.  However, when I go to set the phone up as an iPod I end with the same result.
So, here is what I am doing (tell me what I am doing wrong):
    Hello Screen
Asks me to select language and selecting:  English
Select Your Country or Region:  United States
Choose a Wi-Fi Network:  select my home wi-fi network
Enter password:  entered my home wi-fi network password
Activiate iPhone - wants me to enter Apple ID and Passwordsays that this iphone is currently linked to an Apple ID (k*******@gmail.com).  Sign in with the Apple ID that was used to set up this iPhone.
Location Services - I have enabled location services
    Set Up iPhone
    Set Up as New iPhone
    Apple ID
Options are to sign in with your Apple ID or Create a Free Apple ID
Or I could "skip this step"
I signed in with my Apple ID
    Terms and Conditions - Agree
iCloud - I can select either to use iCloud or Don't Use iCloud - I selected use iCloud
Find My iPhone - I can select either to use find my iPhone or to not - I selected use find my iphone
Once I do this it says iMessage and FaceTime and shows the following:
    my email
my other child's cell phone number
and my husband's work phone number
This is where things do not make sense.  I only want the phone set up with the current child's email address.  Where did I go wrong?

There are a number of Apple services: iMessage, FaceTime, iCloud, Game center, Find My iPad, etc.
Now, to share apps, music and books you need to have the same Apple ID:
iPad's Settings > iTunes & App Stores > Apple ID > Your purchasing Apple ID.
For the other service, your wife should have her own Apple ID.
All she needs is a valid e-mail address, apply Apple ID below:
