IMessage stops working after updating to ios 7

i have an iphone 4s and after updating to ios 7 imessage stopped working. i tried to activate it and it just doesn't. i tried to restore it and use a backup and it's still not working

I have the exact same problem that you have described. I have tried all the "fixes" that have been suggested and not a single one has worked.
Apparently we are part of a small** percentage of Apple users that have been affected.
Small to Apple is over 2 million people.
You would think that for such a large company who has had mutiple iOS update problems in the past ( The iOS 5 update bricked my phone ) they would have these issues resolved by now.
It's been 2 weeks and there are multiple contacts that I cannot text or they can't reply to me.
It is very frustrating!
It seems the only solution right now is to do a complete factory reset of the phone, but even then it could take up to 24 hours for your iMessage to verify, if it infact works.
I am very disappounted in Apple and the service they have "provided" to solve this issue.
Perhaps next time they do an update they should restrict who can dowload it and when to avoid bogging down the servers and causing issued.
As perviously noted though this issue only affect a **small** percentage of Apple users, so I am sure they are in no hurry to fix this issue, after all it's been 2 weeks and even with the iOS 7.0.2 update the problem STILL isn't resolved.

  • Wifi iPad 3 charger stopped working after updating to iOS 6, help!

Wifi iPad 3 charger stopped working after updating to iOS 6.  The little iPhone charger charges it very very slowly, but the charger gets really hot after a while.  I restored it and everything works but the charger.  It's only a few months old, should I try a new iPad wall charger block?

    Hi,
I did this after reading the forums and it made no difference. it has actually charged from 14% to 67% but thats taken over 12 hours.
Will monitor it and if no joy will go to a apple store
    Thanks

  • HT201371 Touch ID stopped working after updating to IOS 7.1.

    Good morning to all,
My touch ID stopped working after updating to IOS 7.1.
It was working perfectly until the update and then it stopped recognizing my prints
I've reset the phone and deleted my fingerprints and now I can't even add a fingerprint again.
I am sure this is not a hardware problem since the phone was working perfectly before the update and it didn't fall nor anything similar.
Also the sensor is clean as well as my fingers.

Same problem... I think we all should let Apple know of this issue. http://www.apple.com/feedback/ tell them the probelm. So when they get too many complains they will surely fix it ASAP with a software update.

  • Iphone 5 stopped working after updated to IOS 7.1

I have just updated my iphone 5 to IOS 7.1 and unfortunately it stopped working. I can not turn it on. Anyone got the same problem? My phone is already out of warranty so I have no idea how much it would cost to fix my died phone

My sons iPhone 5 did the same thing after updating to iOS 7.1.
You may have to connect the device to a computer running iTunes and do a restore on the device. Restore as new. If you don't have a backup everything will be lost but you may get the device working again.

  • Why do some apps stop working after update to iOS 6?

I notice one of my apps stopped working after the iOS 6 update, in particular Uno HD, which I paid $5 for.  Why did this happen?

I had solved the problem by installing the free app, which seemed to reset something, then I deleted the free app, and the paid version continued to work until the next day.  I was going to show one of my friends the game, and then it once again would not open- the same problem was back, as soon as I went to open it, it crashed back to the desktop without opening the game.  I had to re-install the free version again, and for a while, neither version would work, but then after a while, it started working again.  I guess I have to leave the free app installed or I won't be able to use the paid version of Uno.
    EDIT
Just checked again, took the Uno app out of resident memory by double-pushing the home button and holding the app icon til it starts to shake, and then hit the minus symbol, which deletes it out of resident memory.
Went to open it again, and it of course crashed back to the desktop again.  So there is some issue with it that is making it unstable.
I have to keep pushing on either one of  the app icons continuously until one of them starts, and then the other one will start.
Gameloft needs to do an update.

  • My iTunes stopped working after updating to iOS 7

I am using an iPhone 4S and after updating to iOS 7, I couldn't open my iTunes app and could not update/download anything in my App Store anymore. I tried logging my Apple ID in and out, but once I've signed out, I couldn't sign back in. Now I can't activate my iMessage anymore. How can I fix this?
I've tried restarting my phone countless times, but nothing works. There is nothing wrong with my wifi connection either.
    Thanks.

    Hi, carmsdomingo.
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
The steps in the section labeled Unable to activate FaceTime or iMessage with phone number and Apple ID after waiting 24 hours (iPhone only) of the article below, should help resolve the issue.  Make sure to create a current backup prior to processing these steps.

  • Why did my camera connection kit stop working after updating to iOS 6.0.1?

Camera connection kit stopped working on ios6.01 updated phone. Same camera kit works on the iPhone that I did not update. Why does it not work with 6.0.1?

The same story. No 3G after updating to 6.1.  Told my daughter temporarily not to do an update on her iPad with 6.01. We've exchanged SIMs. I inserted her SIM in my iPad - 3G appeared immediately. And my SIM in her iPad with ios 6.01 also WORKS FINE. We use the same provider - Megafon Moscow. After attempting to revert SIMs to original configuration, 3G disappeared on my iPad again. Don't know what's going on with SIM during the update to 6.1

  • IMessage not working after updating to IOS 6.1

I just updated to IOS 6.1 on my iPad (version 3).  When the iPad rebooted it was not connected to the internet - I connect through bluetooth with my iphone as a hotspot.  I proceeded past that point without a connection.  Now my iMessage does not work.  It gets caught up when the bar indicates the message is almost sent.  Then the red ! appears and the message is not delivered.
What do I need to do to get this working again?

I think I have fixed the problem. I tried resetting, etc. I also tried turning off iMessage and then reactivating. it would work for a short time and then lose it.
I noticed that I could not iMessage to my personal email address, which is set up in iCloud. When I tried, the Send button stayed grayed out.
So I edited my contact record, changing the order of two email addresses in the contact record. I had an email address custom labeled iPhone email, and that one was first in my contact record. I changed the order first, making my home (primary) email address the first email in the record. Then, I reentered my phone email address as the last email in the record, and relabeled the phone email address label to read phone emai. Voila! I got a lovely blue talk bubble next to my home/personal email address (the one that is set up with iMessage). Morevoer, I could then direct an iMessage to it. It now syncs my conversations on all devices (iMac, iPhone, iPad 2).
FWIW, iPad is still running iOS 6.0, but if this fix holds, I will update that later today.

  • My microfone stopped working after updating to iOS 6.1

And my headset stopped working the left side. It's the Ipod 5th generation

    - Try cleaning out/blowing out the headphone jack. Try inserting/removing the plug a dozen times or so.
Try the following to rule out a software problem
    - Reset the iPod. Nothing will be lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup
    - Restore to factory settings/new iPod.
    - Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store. Seems you have a bad headphone jack.
Apple Retail Store - Genius Bar
Apple will exchange your iPod for a refurbished one at no cost is the iPod has not been abused.

  • Bluetooth stopped working after updating to iOS 6.1

Yesterday I update the software on my iPhone 4 to iOS 6.1 and after starting back up it would not find my bluetooth headset (that I've used for the last year).  It will not find any bluetooth devices.  Previously, it would locate my headset, iPad, and iMac but now it lists them but will not connect and only shows a continuous search.  The bluetooth icon is gray in color.
I've turned the phone off and on several times, and also done a hard reset twice - the results have been negative.

Try going into setting> General> Reset> Reset Network setting and if that does not work try reset all settings.

  • Vudu stopped working after updating to iOS 8.02

I have an iPad Air WiFi/Cellular
I had inadvertently deleted my Vudu movies the other night at work.  I had hit the sign out option in Vudu and didn't full read the pop up saying that ALL data, including movies, would be erased.  So I sent several hours on Friday downloading my Vudu movies.  I was about halfway done when I got the pop up notification that iOS 8.02 was ready to be installed, so I waited for the movie that was currently downloading to finish, then I told it to install the update.
Now I cannot download ANY Vudu movie to my iPad.
I removed the App and reinstalled, same issue
I reset the iPad via the General's section and chose to delete all settings and content, then restored from the backup that was created before it upgraded, same issue
I did the factor reset, hold the Power and Home buttons until the Apple appears, same issue
I did the Restore iPad via iTunes, same issue
Vudu was working great until the upgrade to 8.02.
So far all other apps work and I can watch movies via the Amazon App.
This would be a GREAT example for Apple to add an uninstall feature.  The BEST way to troubleshoot an issue is to rollback to before the update and see if the App/Program starts working.  If it does, then upgrade again and see if you get the same result, it could very well be a bad OS upgrade.  If you do, then it's the Operating System.  If you don't, then it's the Program.
    Any other suggestions?

I can report I've had the same problem since 8.02.  When I upgraded to iOS 8 my iPad 2 WiFi required a full factory restore, and so I lost all my previously Vudu downloaded movies.  Once 8.0 was complete, I started downloading one of my movies and it completed successfully.  I have since applied 8.02 and have tried to download additional movies in Vudu.  Occasionally it works.  I shut down the app first then reboot the iPad.  I then went back in to Vudu and attempt a download.  Sometimes it works, sometimes not and then I restart the whole process again.  If I can get the download to start, it continues to completion for that movie, but does not start the download on the next movie and again I restart the process again.
