IMic - very noisy recording

Hello,
I've bought the Griffin iMic to get an input jack on my iBook G4.
Once it's connected directly on one USB of the iBook, with GarangeBand or any other software that can record sound, the result is very noisy.
It sounds like a Ground problem cause when I put a finger on the jack, the sound is less noisy.
Does somebody know something about this problem ?
Thanks
Cedric from France

Is it a sign that something is wrong with the computer?
It may be an indication that the inside of your computer or the display card is full of dust.
The recommended way to clean it is to move your computer to a place where cleanliness is not an issue, and use compressed air to get the dust airborne and out of the Mac. Do this on the white carpet in the living room, and you will be a bum for some time to come.
A vacuum cleaner sounds like a good idea, but it is not. The plastic wands and tools on home vacuums generate very large static charges that can wipe out electronics. They can kill your Mac.

  • Very noisy phone line and always engaged

    Hi all,
My phone line has been very very very noisy that it is now impossible to hear someone over the phone.
Since we have a wireless phone, thought I would disconnect all electric appliances around the cordless phone like the TV, WAP, DVD Player but the noise still exists in the extension and also in the master socket.
I bought a corded phone to test it today and the noise still exist and now for some reason when rining my landline number from a mobile it says its engaged and when definitely is not!
I am at a lost here.
I have ran the bt line checker many times and it keeps on saying that it has not got any faults and the fault is after the demarcation point which I think is not.
Can anyone else offer any advice? perhaps how to "reset" the line so it is not engaged anymore, any advice would be good.

    Thanks Somerled.
Im pretty reluctant to report it as a fault since I have been reading some of the posts here and it seems that BT will hunt you down in any way possible for teh £127.99.
I guess I will have to do this carefully to make sure that I have done all my tests.
Is there anything else that I should do before I report it?
Also I can't seem to make any incoming and outgoing calls now!
    Thanks for the advice though.

Thats why you need to record the noise your self and as said ask the op to recordd it and to agree that they can hear it plus get afew people to witness the noise
If any post helps tick the star box on the left
Just cause Im paranoid dont mean they are not out to get me

  • Accessing the very last record in a transparent table.

    Hi!
There's any way to read the last record of a transparent table?
    My problem is:
I have to access the very las record of a Z table because I need the maximun value of a numeric field (that is the first field of the primary key).
I used a SELECT MAX, with no condition , but I was asked to find a more performance solution.
There is any way to access the last record of a table? Something like we have for the internal tables with the READ TABLE INDEX N, but with a select statement?
Thanks a lot for your help!

Yes, that was my first thought, but I made a comparising between both options with SE30.
    Check this numbers:
    TIME:  11,377,702
    select * from t100 into table t_t100.
    sort t_t100 descending.
    read table t_t100 index 1.
    TIME: 954,218
    DATA: MAX_MSGNR type t100-msgnr.
SELECT MAX( MSGNR ) FROM T100 INTO max_msgnr.
    Select MAX is better...
I don't think there is a better solucion... Maybe a big brain here has an idea...
Vasanth, thanks for your quick reply!

It would be helpful if you were to identify the model of MBP you have.
The noise makers on a MBP are the fan(s), the HDD and the optical drive.  Can you locate the exact position where the noise is coming from?
    Ciao.

  • How can NI FBUS Monitor display very large recorded files

NI FBUS Monitor version 3.0.1 outputs an error message "Out of memory", if I try to load a large recorded file of size 272 MB. Is there any combination of operating system (possible Vista32 or Vista64) and/or physical memory size, where NI FBUS Monitor can display such large recordings ? Are there any patches or workarounds or tools to display very large recorded files?

    Hi,
NI-FBUS Monitor does not set the limitation on the maximum record file size. The physical memory size in the system is one of the most important factors that affect the loading of large record file.  Monitor will try loading the entire file into the memory during file open operation.
272MB is a really large file size. To open the file, your system must have sufficient physical memory available.  Otherwise "Out of memory" error will occur.
I would recommend you do not use Monitor to open a file larger than 100MB. Loading of a too large file will consume the system memory quickly and decrease the performance.

  • Power mac G4 silver 2002 - very noisy

Could be everything, very noisy. To be honest is a nightmare to do anything for more than 10 minutes.
Can I reduce the db doing something?
    thank

    Hello Brauner,
Sorry to hear your Quicksilver is misbehaving.
Hold your hand to the metal surrounding the fan - both the case fan and the power supply and see if you can pick up a vibration. Holding a long, thin screwdriver - which acts as a stethoscope - will also work (as long as you don't drop it into the fan).
Dual processor QSs tend to run hot, which is not conducive to long life of power supplies. I fitted a slightly more powerful (and noisier) CPU fan by Evercool - EC6025H12CA - which keeps the CPU cooler and I presume the power supply, too. A slot fan might help, too, though I haven't tried it yet.
Good luck with the Quicksilver; I really like mine and have talked a half-dozen friends into what seems like a QS club.

  • .mov files playing very "noisy"

hello. I have my website, which has several .mov files, which play individually. Certain ones seem to playback very "noisy" and distorted. The original file seems fine when i play via quicktime, but when you watch online, it doesn't look nearly as good.
    Here is the site www.coutroulis.com
then go to "spots" and watch the first two.
    What am i doing wrong?
    thanks in advance

Me again nick, but on the video quality - btw, I really like ur work - I was struck by http://web.me.com/coutroulis/Nikos_site/neulasta.html, which is exhibiting the same behavior as some QT files being exported from FCS 3 here in the studio, using either QT or Compressor engine. And that would be the de-interlacing artifacts on fast moving changes, as with transitions, sails flapping, flower petals falling etc.. I have not figured out why the "noise" appears yet in just certain HD projects, but what we found was that after we uploaded to youtube (and all of our stuff goes there with the rest of the garbage), that artifact went away. That was a case of "garbage in, amrita out." It also goes away (somewhat) when we burn to DVD. But the artifact only popped up after we certified FCS3 on Snow Leopard. Now everyone is shaking their heads. Perhaps this is related...

  • Oracle OLEDB driver can't postion at the very first record if ....

    Hi, all:
It seems that I found a serious bug with OLEDB provider 8.1.7.3.
For the following two queries, the provider works properly.
    select * from emp
    select * from emp, account
However, the provider can't reposition to the very first record after navigating some records with the following query.
select * from emp, account, dept
Notify that MS Oracle provider still works correctly.

It's the K7T Pro.  Same as the post listed above.
According to my friend he's had it for more than 3 years so the warrantee is gone and I dont' see anything MSI can do.
I came across many posts on the forums about the K7t Pro and it's successors.
Everyone is says the same thing, "a bad voltage regulator.... leaky capacitors..."
I've eliminated the following things as causes for this problem...
    PSU
    CMOS
    CPU
    RAM
    VideoCard
    SoundCard
    NIC
    Cooling
The only things I am not sure of is the motherboard and the fact the D-Leds point to something with the lithium batter, as I mentioned above.
Have there been problems with these motherboards like people say?
Can you or anyone else think of anything which maybe causing this?

  • The fan in my laptop became very noisy at minimum capacity after ins Win 8.

My laptop - HP Pavilion dv6-6b56er. After installing the Windows 8 the fan in my laptop became very noisy at minimum capacity. As far as I understand this is a common problem. I installed the latest version of HP Support Assistant and HP Support Framework, but there was an error during installation of HP Coolsense "There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A programm run as part of the setup did not finish as expected. Contact your support personnel or package vendor".
Sry for bad Eng, im using Google Translate.

It looks like this unit has received Windows 8 drivers.
How was the system upgraded to Windows 8?  Was it through a clean intall or an in-place upgrade?
Has all Windows 8, including switchable graphics in particular, been installed?
Here is the software page should you need it.
My notebook's fan was operating louder than usual when I upgraded to Windows 8.  This turned out to be that swtichable graphics was broken by the upgrade to Windows 8.  Effectively, both video cards were running simultaneously resulting in more heat being produced.  What resolved it for me was installing getting switchable graphics to work properly.  For me, this required a lot of work since my unit was not certified for Windows 8 and would not get any new software for Windows 8.  It's an old notebook, so this was expected.  However, your system does have a Windows 8 AMD driver for switchable graphics from HP, so I would start by making sure that specific driver is installed.

Why did my iMac fan come on very noisy after 1 hour of use ? I had to turn it off to stop it

    Just updated details - os x 10.8.5 .....

  • Camileo SX900 very noisy picture

    Hello,
    I just buyed a SX900 video camera.
All is fine, according to specs beside the fact the camera seems very noisy even on daylight on a not so very high illuminated room...
I'we used both auto ISO level or manual (like 800) with or without LED activated.
That's normal ? I mean i am very disappointed by this, because i picked the camera mostly due to fact was "advertised" as working very well even in low light environments...

    Hi
    I think this is normal.
Ive got another camcorder from another manufacturer and the picture quality is lower when the lighting conditions are not so good
But the picture quality is very good in broad daylight.

  • HD very noisy

    Hello all
    I have a 21.5 iMac mid 2011 that I got last Decembre.
Since 1 week now, the hard drive just started to be very noisy. I mean I can hear a scratchy noise coming from the back of the iMac. Noticeable as it was so silent before.
Should I bring it to the nearest Apple store as the warranty is still running?
What should I save before doing that?
    Thanks for your help.
    Regards

You should take this straight to an Apple Store, as the hardrive is dying. Please Please Please back the data up like now. If it goes you may loose everything.
What you are hearing is what we call in the IT world the Click of Death.
    Thank you

  • Fan very noisy

Hi I bought a new Macbook 13" with 2GB RAM and 2.4 Ghz dual Cpu.
I found the fan very noisy and alvays conne4cted.
Can anyone help me What can I do ?

Try resetting the SMC. [http://support.apple.com/kb/ht3964]. The SMC controls the fans. If not, Take it to your nearest Apple Store or Apple Authorized Service Provider. There may be a disconnected sensor in which case the computer would ramp the fan to full to avoid overheating.

  • VERY NOISY i-MAC

My mid 2010 imac's fans are very noisy and I have had them fixed by Apple approx 5 times! It is happening again and I am trying to get to the route of the problem myself, and so have downloaded a fan control software. In the software you can control the speed of both the Hard drive fans and the Optical drive fans. However this does not control the fan which is making all the noise!!!! which fan is making the noise???
    Regards,

If the machine is still under AppleCare, take the machine back to Apple and request they replace the machine. They normally will after 3 repairs of the same problem assuming the machine is covered by AppleCare. BTW  you are not running OS X 9.0.x unless you have a Mac 10-12 years old. Please correct your profile so we know what version of OS X it is running.
