  • IMovie '09 does not see certain pictures in iPhoto

I made some panoramic pictures from other images taken and added them to my iPhoto '09 library. iMovie doesn't seem to see these pictures, even though they are saved and accessible in iPhoto. Everything is updated and I have tried closing and reopening both applications as well as restarting my computer. Does anyone have any ideas, or is there another way to import these pictures?
    Thanks!

my iPhone 6 does not automatically transfer photos to iPhoto, I have to plug it in

    Hi lesliefromvt,
I apologize, I'm a bit unclear on the exact nature of your question or configuration. If you are looking to automatically transfer or sync your photos between your devices, you may find the following information about iCloud Photo Library helpful:

  • ITunes Does Not See My Photos

The "On This Phone" button does not list any photos... there isn't a category for "Photos" in the left-side pane. I have to plug my iPhone into my PC (cringe) to get to my photos... what am I doing wrong?

Are you talking about photos taken with your iPhone camera, that are in your camera roll? If so, these are not imported using iTunes. These are imported to your computer the same way photos would be from any digital camera. Read here:

  • IMovie 08 does not see  my JVC GZ-MG505 anymore

2 mnths ago I could import from my JVC GZ-MG505. Today I wanted to import movies from my JVC camera again, but I movie 08 doesnt see it anymore. I opened app. CamExtractor to check if the connection is OK and it was. It read the photo's that are on it, but somehow iMovie doe not see it. What should I do. I already tried trashed the "com.apple.imovie7.plist" but that didn't help either. Can someone help me?

Go to Settings - Privacy - Photos.  My guess is that you do not have iMovie switched "On"

  • IMovie '11 does not add still shots correctly at all

I am trying to make what's basically a slideshow with background music, and I can't get iMovie to add the pictures correctly.
I drag the first five pictures into the area it tells me to drag it.
The thumbnails show that the first shot is the actual first picture, and then the next four look like the 5th picture.
As I scroll through the time lapse, the movie panel on the right shows the first picture five times.
It didn't do this when I started iMovie for the very first time and was just tinkering with the buttons, but I am trying to start from a blank slate now that I know what I'm doing, and have all my pictures in order in a directory (their filenames now start with the numbers 1 through 74).
I have deleted from /Users/myname/Library/Preferences the following files:
    com.apple.iApps.plist
    com.apple.iApps.plist.lockfile
    com.apple.iMovieApp.plist
    com.apple.iMovieApp.plist.lockfile
    com.apple.iPhoto.LSSharedFileList.plist
    com.apple.iPhoto.LSSharedFileList.plist.lockfile
    com.apple.iPhoto.plist
    com.apple.iPhoto.plist.lockfile
This does not correct the problem (but thank you Bengt Wärleby for walking me through how to do it in https://discussions.apple.com/message/18491030#18491030).
Is there an easy fix to this? Because I'm about ready to give up and find something to download to do this project in.

iM is NOT Finalcut, as I told you before.
it is essential to use iM's own import routines to make 'videos' accessable for iM. that includes the 'right' formats (=iM cares for conversion) and the right location (= iM Events).
You HAVE to import via 'import from camera' AppleMan1958 mentioned above - the m-jpegs my Lumix FZ38 records are readable, appear as 'clips' in the camera-import dialog. I've heard of trouble when m-jpg and avchd is on same SDcard... perhaps for your first steps, keep it simple ...

  • IMovie 11 does not see iPhoto videos

Using iLife 09, iMovie showed my iPhoto videos in the lower pane event browser.
    Upgraded to iLife 11.
iPhoto spent some time converting my library - but it completed; and seems fine.
iMovie, however, no longer shows the iPhoto videos. The text says no video clips match the current selection - but this never changes no matter what is selected.
My previous iMovie projects all still exist; and seem fine. The videos that were added from the event browser in '09 are also still fine within those projects.
I'd appreciate any suggestions for fixing this.

As I always have my preference set to copy items to the iPhoto Library, hopefully I won't see any problems. Once I'm running with iLife '11 (hopefully some time on Monday) I will let you know how things go.
Neville, just to let you know (as promised), everything went very smoothly with my iLife '11 upgrade. All my iPhoto videos showed up in iMovie '11 within the item "iPhoto Videos" in the Events Library. But, as I mentioned earlier, my preferences are set to copy photos to the iPhoto Library.
After installing iLife '11, my first step was to open iPhoto and allow the database to update. Once I was satisfied that iPhoto was running OK, I then opened iMovie and waited for it to do all the upgrading. That went smoothly also, other than a warning about a Centred Title missing from one of my iPhoto Videos and that the video wouldn't play without it. I haven't bothered to track that down yet - the video wasn't identified in the warning message.
I appreciate this doesn't really help you solve your issue, but it does help to confirm that things seem to work OK when the iPhoto preference is set to the option I've selected (copy photos). Note that my iPhoto Library is located on the internal drive. I have a small number of photos that I keep in separate folders outside of the iPhoto Library - mainly stuff I've done for other people that I don't want cluttering up iPhoto (although I realise that these can be hidden in iPhoto).

  • IMovie 11 does not see all iPhoto videos

As many guys are having different problems, but none as mine, I'm creating this new topic.
I just bought a MacBook Pro, and it came with iLife 11. I copied my pictures/movies folder to the Pictures system folder and imported all to iPhoto (but first, I unchecked the "copy to iPhoto library" option).
Doing so, iMovie didn't show the movies. After searching a little, I deleted all the Events, checked the "copy to library" back and imported the files again.
Now, I can see the videos there, but not all. Most interesting is that almost all videos are MP4 H.264, and some appears, others don't (they came from the same camera). Some other MPG MPEG-1/2 aren't there too.
I didn't migrated from previous versions of iLife. I installed QuickTime 7. The "copy to iPhoto library" is checked. I don't know what to do!
    Thanks.

  • Imovie 10 does not see my Itunes Labrary

I have updated to Imovie 10, but in the library left part, I have iphoto, but not the Itunes Library.
So impossible to add music to my films.
I have Imovie 9 as well, and it is OK with the Itunes Library. It does see it.
    Any idea ?
My Itunes Library is on an external drive, not the Iphoto one. Maybe that's the problem ? But it should work, I'm not the only one to have this config.
    Thanks !

    Ok Gilles,
    I will try to explain:
    a. click your "projects mis à jour"->double click a project, it wil open in the under half of your iMovie window, now look not at the top but at the bottem of the left column.
    b. select an event, make a new project, ad some footage, again at the left column down left you will see possibilities to ad transitions, titles, but also to access your iTunes library.

  • ITunes does not see all photos

I have found several posts related to this and none have helped. I have an iPad 2 and a windows 7 PC and while I can see the folders I have selected in iTunes the count of photos in those folders is incorrect. I have tried about everything I could find here. All the photos are .jpg and have that extension. I tried the delete photo cache trick, I have removed and resynced the photos. iTunes seems to sync what it sees but as an example in one folder iTunes says there are 28 photos when there are actualy 44, all the same format, most from the same camera. I have several other floders that sync and almost all of them have an incorrect photo count on the iTunes interface. Another odity is that when I check the include vidios box iTunes tells me there are 7 more items in that same folder but there is only one video in that folder so I sure don't know what it is looking at. This all seem rediculiously complicated. Any suggestions?

I had the problem...firgured my issue out. When I looked at the differences it appears as though itunes wants to know what type of file you have. In other words you need to have the extension. I looked at my photos and the photos itunes saw all had the .jpg or .tif. I exported the files I wanted on the phone, since renaming them didn't change the file name, looked in the finder to make sure that the .jpg was on the file and reimported and boom sync'd perf.
    good luck

  • Not seeing all photos in iPhoto, but all appear in Aperture

I just updated to Mountain Lion and updated iPhoto and Aperture.  I noticed, and had a slight heart attack, that only 5000 of my 51000 photos were shown in iPhoto!  I then opened Aperture and happily see all 51000 photos.  I am using the same iPhoto libray and not sure if there is some setting that I am missing on iPhoto that is hiding a majotity of my pictures.  I need to have both applications access the same library, I use Aperuture and my Wife uses iPhoto.  Any sugesstions on what I may have done wrong?

Are you using Stacking in Aperture?

  • ITunes does not see new Event from iPhoto

I imported photos from Halloween into iPhoto on my iMac with the intention of displaying them on my AppleTV. In the iTunes - AppleTV - Photos sync page (that displays Photos, Events, Faces) all but the most recent Events are present. I tried "Last Import" and even combined the photos with another Event that was already synced with the AppleTV but the photos did not show up (nor did the number of photos in the combined event increase). I am stumped.
I have deleted the com.apple.iPhoto.plist and com.apple.iPhoto.LSSharedFileList.plist files, but there was no improvement. I have updated all versions of the programs and rebooted the computer and AppleTV. Still nothing. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

I've figured out why it's not working, just not sure the absolute correct way to fix it. The albumdata.xml file is wrong. When I moved from /users/michael/iphoto to /volumes/data/iphoto, only 400 of the pictures metadata changed. Most of them stayed as /users/michael/iphoto in the albumdata.xml file. To "change" them in the .xml, (I wouldn't call it a fix) is I selected all the pictures and did a batch change of Title to Filename. That worked for me, because my pictures titles were the filenames, but if you rename the titles, you might have to find another way. Directly modifing the albumdata.xml file won't work. It's overwritten each time. This link helped me figure the problem out.

  • Import does not see photos

Very strange. Last night I imported as usual a folder full of raw files, and only 100 photos out of 147 imported. I then tried to imports the remaining ones, but import does not see them at all. Actually now import does not see any files, even from folders which I previously successfully imported. If I drag the photos from the folder into a project it imports the photos fine, but the names are not changed, which is a big problem. It does not work when I try to drag the full folder full of photos. How come I can't import any more? I restarted the computer but import still does not see any photos.

Oh my God, how stupid of me. You are absolutely right, I had the "Do not import duplicates" ticked. I must have clicked it by error.
Now I'm not sure why the first time only 100 photos were imported, but it's not important. I'll report next time if I have the same problem importing a large folder.
    Thank you so much!

  • I am trying to import i frame from an SD90 video camera to iMovie, but it does not see the camera. Footage goes to i photo Why?

I am trying to import video ( i frame) from an sd90 ( listed for mac) but i movie does not see the camera. It imports into i photo. Is this normal ?

If you quit iPhoto and iMovie (with the camera still attached) then put the camera into VCR playback mode. Then launch iMovie and see if it can see the camera. If not, get out the power adapter for the camera and plug it into the wall, plug the camera into the power adapter. Reboot your Mac and wait for iPhoto to launch again automatically. Don't let it import the clips, just say No, quit the program. Then put the camrea int VCR/Playback mode, launch iMovie and check again to see if it can see the camera. Once iMovie sees it the first time it should be quicker to recognize it in future. But iPhoto does try to race in there and grab everything first.
To turn this off go to iPhoto Menu in iPhoto > Preferences > Look for Connecting camera opens: (click on the pulldown menu and choose No Application) This effectively turns off iPhoto when you first attach the camera. And it opens the way to iMovie recognizing it quicker.

  • After upgrading to Mavericks my iMac does not see Sony camcorder in iMovie anymore. It still works on MacBook, so nothing wrong with camera or connections.

After upgrading to Mavericks my iMac does not see my Sony camcorder anymore. I tried the new iMovie as well as the old version 9.0.9, which is still in Applications. I checked the camcorder and connections in iMovie on my MacBook (not upgraded) and that still functions properly, so the problem does not seem to be in iMovie, old or new, or in camcorder and connection.
Anybody with the same problem or a solution?
    Thanks mbkom
