Imovie 5.0.4 crashes upon connection to deck
I just upgraded from panther to Tiger. Using ilife 5, I can no longer connect a dv deck or camera to the firewire port without the program crashing within seconds. I can connect a firewire drive no problem but not a deck or camera.
Os 10.4.4
ibook 1.2gig
512 ram
ilife 5
imovie 5.0.4
Also ugraded and ran diskwarrior
Well, the results are as follows:
Dump P files. The application starts up and offers a choice of creating new or open existing etc... but did not crash even though firewire deck is connected.
this is different. Open new, no crash. Close new, open existing, no crash. No picture however via firewire deck/monitor. check preferences, select play dv to camera etc... Still no external picture. Close program, crash message then appears. Final result, never able to get a picture down the firewire cable. Close program, open existing project, program is now crashing again. I initially re-installed the program from iLife 5, no effect. I give.
thx for your assistance.

Facetime crashes upon connection. I see the other's video under mine, then the program crashes. we are uding emails to connect. my OSX = 10.7.5, dual quad core (5.1)
Hi there,
If you purchased FaceTime from the Mac App Store, the first thing that I would recommend is removing and reinstalling the application. Take a look at the articles below for more information.

Ipod causes windows XP to crash upon connecting to craddle
I have an ipod that crashes xp every time I connect it to the PC. I have reset the ipod, and have re-installed win xp. I never had this before I updated to new apple itunes. What is going on?
I've noticed that you've asked that question a lot.
that's not surprising, Novy. blue screens are one of my "advice fields." (by no means the most common problem i work on, though. you can check whether or not i'm telling the truth about that by simply clicking on my alias and looking through a random sample of about 100 of the different threads you find me involved in. truth is important.)
i ask about the numerical and text codes of BSODs because there are literally dozens of different blue screen messages that you can get on a Windows PC. see:
Troubleshooting Windows Stop Messages
... and by cross-referencing the error codes with other information (like the circumstances of the BSOD, event log records on the PC in question, and any information showing up in the Device Manager on the PC), we can get a heads-up on a possible cause.
for example (not suggesting that this is your problem, it's just an example of the cross-referencing in action), one of the first thing i check for if people are reporting an 0x00000050 PAGEFAULT_IN_NONPAGEDAREA when they either launch itunes, import a CD in itunes, or (of all things) plug in an ipod, is this particular problem:
Easy CD Creator 5.0 Does Not Function In Windows XP
because truth is important, here's a search on the 0x00000050 code delimited by my alias:
b noir: 0x00000050
back to your startup blue screen:
The only error messages that I get is the one that asks you if you want to start up in safe mode or start up normally because the system unexpectedly shut down because of a power/software/hardware issue.
could you give us the precise text of that error message? (a search of the KB docs at MS on segments of the precise text can often pull up some information on an error message like that.)

Desktop Manager crashes upon connection
Just installed BB Desktop Manager 5.0, after removing the previous installation using the "clean uninstall" process suggested elsewhere on this Board (i.e. eliminating RIM and Puma entries in the registry).
v 5.0 is syncing with my BB 8830 just fine in my laptop computer (Vista OS); the problem is with my desktop (XP SP3 OS), which I'd also like to sync with the 8830. As soon as I plug in the BB to the desktop computer, the screen freezes and I receive an error message that says the Deskrop Manager has encountered a problem and must close. By clicking on "click here" (for details), I get an error message that says the following:
Error signature
EventType: BEX P1: DesktopMgr.exe P2: 5.0.0.11 P3: 4a4bd539
P4: Synchronize.dll P5: 5.0.0.11 P6: 4a4bd6eb P7: 00051ef7
P8: c0000409 P9: 00000000
Then, by clicking on a "click here" link the the Error signature box, I get an Error Report contents box that says:
C:\DOCUME~1\DAVIDM~1\LOCALS~1TEMP\WER7785.dir00\DesktopMgrexe.mdmp
C:\DOCUME~1\DAVIDM~1\LOCALS~1TEMP\WER7785.dir00\appcompat.txt
I've tried everything I can think of and I'm totally stumped. Any help would be much appreciated.
Many thanks.
Dave M.Hi
I am having exactly the same problems
When I connect my BB Storm it asks if I want to backup/restore to automatically back up my device if I click "yes" then the program immediately closes down
If I click "no" then synchronisation starts but almost immediately freezes then tells me:
"BlackBerry Desktop Manager has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience."
The error signature is:
EventType : BEX P1 : DesktopMgr.exe P2 : 5.0.0.11 P3 : 4a4bd539P4 : Synchronize.dll P5 : 5.0.0.11 P6 : 4a4bd6eb P7 : 00051ef7 P8 : c0000409 P9 : 00000000
and included in the error report is:
C:\DOCUME~1\ADMINI~1\LOCALS~1\Temp\WER2061.dir00\DesktopMgr.exe.mdmpC:\DOCUME~1\ADMINI~1\LOCALS~1\Temp\WER2061.dir00\appcompat.txt
I have tried an uninstall and reinstall and am drawing a blank, please help
Thanks Guys

IPhoto crashes upon connecting the camera.
Since the application works when no camera is connected, I am inclined to think that the problem has to do with the preferences or the iPhoto library. Some days ago I deleted what I thought to be extra copies of my pictures when they were actually part of the iPhoto library that is automatically generated when pictures are uploaded. I believe I messed up with the paths that the application uses and now I don’t know if I can restore the original settings. Can that be done?

Assuming you did this using the finder then you broke the cardinal rule of iPhoto (and all database programs). NEVER make any changes of any sort to the structure or content of the database using any other program (like the finder or PhotoShop, etc).
If that us what you did your choices are to undo what you did and put the iPhoto library back exactly like it was, or restore your backup from before you corrupted your library or start over with a new library and import your original photos

IMovie crashes upon startup after installing Lion
I recently installed Lion from a download. I was able to open iMovie three times to realize none of my previous movies showed up. Now, a week later, iMove crashes upon starting it. I do not have a disk to reload from, and the update manager tells me I am up to date on all my software.
All I wish to do at this point is download my movies from gallery.me.com, but now that I am oniCloud, the storm has started! I can't get to my gallery to download!Nanotechie1992,
Thanks for this suggestion. I have the Snow and the iLife DVDs, so I will attempt the iLlife install first. If this does not work, I will load Snow over Lion. If this doesn't work, I plan on going back in Time to before Lion. If this doesn't work, I have the HD Apple said was bad (it works perfecty well as an external) with the first version of Snow on it. I rebooted from it earlier to create QT movies from my older movie files.
Back in Lion, I attempted to import old movies to see if I can create HD Movie but it crashes.
I will let you know.
I haven't heard the word Nano for awhile. It takes me back to the 60s and IBM! Thanks for the memories! Keypunched cards and big tape drives! I loved to watch the 7074 do a sort! Amazing.
Let's hope this simple step back doesn't too many gigs of nanos!

If you search on my username, you will find posts regarding my previous iMovie installation (that last iLife...07?). I have a plain old iMac 24" Intel machine. I'm rather new at Mac, and I have nothing out-of-the-ordinary on the machine.
All of sudden, I would start iMovie up and it would crash upon startup. That rendered it useless to me, and, of course, it made the Mac purchase rather disappointing. I bought it so I wouldn't have to worry about problems like this.
My iLife 09 purchase solved the problem. iMovie worked again. Until today.
I just tried to launch it, and pow! Same problem. Crash upon launch. I looked at the "Applications" folder and noticed it was updated on March 30. This was probably the last software update.
I rolled back to the Feb 28 or so version via Time Machine, and it works.
So, just as before, Apple updated my iMovie and broke it. I couldn't fix it before, and now, apparently, they've done it again.
What is going on? I surely hit the "let apple know what happened" button, but will this really do anything? Do I now have to disregard ALL updated for fear that it will break again?
This is VERY VERY frustrating. I bought the thing so it would do what I need it to do - photos and kids video editing - without a big hassle. It turns out that it's been a giant hassle when it comes to this.
Pardon me for seeming frustrated, but I really am.
What do I do?
Thanks,
Krissearch this forum. Apparently -- its common. Others have recommended looking for projects that are zero kb's. While other s have had to delete all projects in the imovie folder. Take a look. I just cross my fingers that i don't get this issue!! Also the more people that report it to apple the better....

Firefox crashes upon open - won't send crash report; crash report info summarized below
I have one computer that crash every time I start Firefox. Ocassionally the firefox window will appear for less than a second and then the Crash Report Window shows up; most times it goes right to Crash Report Window. Then it is for some reason unable to send the crash repor; it keeps looping back to the crash report. I've checked my modem and router are operating correctly; I have another computer that's working fine. I've run scan for Trojans, viruses and still see the problem. Any help would be very much appreciated as I'm stuck at this point. For what it's worth, Internet Explorer has the same problem, crashing upon opening.
== Crash ID(s) ==
not availableHello. I have a similar problem to the question of Ryan Vaught, (Firefox crashes upon open - won't send crash report; crash report info summarized below [MY] Firefox version: prior one to 3.6.7 Operating System: Windows XP Provessional). Mine is a bit different tho. Firefox seems to be crashing and my internet crashes right with it. When it does this, it also takes out some Win32 system .exe files. I too have ran AVG (Full Coverage /Purchased one) and then updated to Viper (Sunbelt Software) and it comes up clean of any viruses, etc. Once it crashes and I close Firefox, the crash report request comes up. When I hit send, it says it cannot be sent with no additional information as to why. I just updated Firefox to 3.6.7 and sure hope this helps, but it almost always happens when I am playing games that use flash. I can send a screenshot if you need it and feel free to edit my question if need be. I've checked my Viper settings and can get to all the websites so far trying to rule it out. Deleted my internet set up and then added it back as a new connection (hope that made sense), so I don't know who to be asking this question of, but hoping you may know the answer why I can't send the crash report. Whew! Sorry for the lengthy question/issue. Your help is greatly appreciated!! Carolyn Burnam

Safari 5.1.7 Immediately Crashes Upon Launch (Updated 29 May 2012)
Hey everyone, just thought if anyone could quickly take a look and see if they see a solution. Any and all help is appreciated, thanks!
BrendanFor any one in the future with the same problem, I resolved it by opening Safari, waiting for the crash to come, and closing it. Then using the Safari menu, and going to "Reset Safari". You then need to QUIT Safari (almost like you'd install something and then restart your computer) and reopen it. Works fine now.

Aurora 11.0 crashes upon opening.
Aurora 11.0a2 is crashing upon opening. I have a HTC EVO 4G. It started to do that immediatly after updating. Any fixes for that?
We would need some debugging info. The following should help us see the issue.
Install alogcat https://market.android.com/details?id=org.jtb.alogcat
* In the all apps screen launch alogcat
* press the menu button press clear
* launch Firefox
* Go back to alogcat
* press the menu button and select save
* connect your phone to the computer using your usb cable
* open the phone's drive and open the alogcat folder
* open the text file with notepad
* copy and paste the info into http://pastebin.mozilla.org
* make sure to set the expiry to a month or more so the post is visible for more than the default of one day -
IMessage will crash upon launch.
My iMessage will crash upon launch. What happens is this,
- I tap the icon
- the standard iMessage screen pops up
- it sits there for a bit and then closes itself.
I was messing around with my friend and sending him MASSIVE emoticon messages (like 10,000 plus characters)
When I sent the (last) largest one, it was stuck on "sending". Then the app closed itself.
My theory:
The iPad tries loading the message, but runs out of RAM, therefore crashing.
What I have tried:
-restore to factory settings
-then restore from backup
-Tried iCloud and iTunes backup.
-sign in, then out of the app
-disabling the app
-downgrading firmware
-upgrading firmware
I might also add that when I sent this message, the same stuff started happening to his iPod touch 4th gen.
I am currently using an iPad (3rd gen Wi-Fi) on iOS 6.1.3. Model MD328LL/A. And primarily use a 2.5 mbps Wi-Fi connection.
I really hope someone can finally fix this, it has been persisting for 3 months now.Really wishing someone could provide a tip at least.

IMovie 8 (7.1) Crashes Importing DV from Panasonic PV-GS80
iMovie 8 (7.1) crashes hard every time after importing about 30sec. of DV from Panasonic PV-GS80 via FireWire. Upon restarting iMovie, the clip is generally OK. The same H/W works every time using iMovie 6.0.4, and this video can be imported to iMovie 8 from iMovie 6 correctly. System is new, Disc Utility reports OK. Any suggestions besides dropping iMovie 8?
FOUND FIX
I found this fix in another thread post. iMovie 7 appears to be bugged, but you can import movies if you download iMovie6 HD. It's apparently free from apple for iLife 08 users.
Here's the link so you can download it.
http://supportdownload.apple.com/download.info.apple.com/AppleSupport_Area/Apple_Software_Updates/Mac_OSX/downloads/061-3532.20070807.nq3ER/iMovieHD6.dmg
Hours spent trying all sorts and iMovie HD ... just seems to work. Someone suggested that I use an external HD to improve performance. Just make sure you don't use Fat32 because it bombs when the file size gets to 2GB lol. It's a limitation of the Fat32 format. Since you can't access NTFS directly, you're a bit stuffed if you want to use the external HD with you Mac and PC. Either format it for your mac or your pc.

Apps crashing and connectivity issues with 8.3
Has anyone else been experiencing these issues after updating to 8.3?
- Multiple apps crashing upon startup of the app (according to release notes it was supposed to improve this but made it worse)
- intermittent Bluetooth connectivity when playing music via Bluetooth in a vehicle
- Touch ID intermittently working in app store
I made the switch back to Apple and am regretting it immensely. They put out numerous betas of this update before release and still couldn't get it right. They make millions but seems they need to invest in software engineers more than watch designers that are just imitating what's already been out. So much for innovation. Please get this fixed ASAPSame here, I have an iPhone 6. After updating to 8.3 the phone started to lag, the battery consumption went crazy, the phone started to overheat and the games started to stutter and freeze for short periods of time. From what I've read on the internet this update is good for 5s or lower models but for 6 and 6+ it's a lot worse. This is unacceptable since Apple has only 5 phone models compatible with iOS 8 and they have all the resources and time to make the things bette.
