IMovie 6.0.3 theme rendering in 16:9 in a 4:3 project

In addition to a problem with the brightness of the lower third element of the "Passage" theme (where big transparent letters are moving in front of the movie/image in the drop zone) I cannot use this theme any more because it renders using 16:9 aspect ratio. The preview is correct (4.3), but the rendered clip has a letter box and it is always at the end of the clip, not at the position of the playhead. So something is wrong with my iMovie after upgrading to 10.5. I tried to solve the problem by deleting the iMovie preferences, but this didn't help. Does anybody know what to do?
Thanks,
Dirk

I have problems with my films that become slightly jerky after I have imported
and edited them in iMovie and then burned them onto a DVD using iDVD.
I can see the weak jerkiness when panning in both laterally
    and vertically.
I shoot with a camcorder Canon Vixia HF10. The camera has been set to deliver HD quality (1920x1080). But I have accidentally filmed with a frame rate of 60 (?).
When I import the films in iMovie I have been asked if I want to change to frame rate 30 (instead of 25). I have chosen 30.
Could it be the setting of a frame rate 60 in my camcorder that causes jerkiness when panning or what else?

I have Imovie 08 and ripped home movies in the Apple TV mode.  IMovie won't import them?

    Try this.
Open your home movie in QuickTime Player X. (Or right click on your home movie in the Finder and select Open With... QuickTime Player.
Then click the Commenad Key and the letter I at the same time to open the Inspector.
Tell us what you see next to the word Format: in the Inspector.

  • Why are iMovie events (2400 of them) shown in the iDVD movies pane along with my iMovie projects (12 of them)?

Why are iMovie events (2400 of them) shown in the iDVD movies pane along with my iMovie projects (12 of them)?

Sorry about the delay in responding, I've been putting up with a very slow iDVD, but now I'm fed up with it again. My version of iDVD is 7.1.2 (1158) running in Mac OS X, version 10.6.8, with 3.2GHz and i3 processor, 4GB of memory, on a desktop iMac. My version of iMovie'11 is 9.0.4 (1634).
I can stop iDVD from showing iMovie EVENTS (now 3247 of them) in its Media pane under Movies, by moving the iMovie Events folder from the iMovie folder ( that iDVD ALWAYS looks in) to somewhere else in that Directory (where I store all my data, and which I have named "browning").  But then iMovie can't display the EVENTS, because it is looking in the wrong place. So, how can I save iMovie Events in another folder (not iMovies) but somewhere where iMovie will find them?
Is there a method to change the default folders for iMovie and/or iDVD? How does iMovie know where the iMovie default directory is?
Should I put iMovie into the "Main" Mackintosh HD directory?
The Apple Store in Bath, UK, couldn't help, but surely I'm not the only iDVD user who is annoyed with this process?

  • I use photo stills in my iMovie. I want them to last longer than a minute, but when I input 01: 45: 00, to signify one min. and 45 seconds, it doesn't accept it. What is the proper format for inputting minutes?

I use photo stills in my iMovie. I want them to last longer than a minute, but when I input 1:45:00, to signify one minute and 45 seconds, it doesn't accept it. What's the proper way to input it?

There are 30 frames in one second of video. So you can specify down to the frame level, which is 1/30th of a second.
Is the Duration box switching to some other time every time you type in 1:45:00?
For instance this is a 5 second clip plus 3 frames. To get this set properly I would type in 1:45:00, then click done. I don't know if it is different under older versions of iMovie, as I'm using iMovie '11 for thisi example.

  • I want to import one imovie project into another one.  In other words, I have created a short sequence in iMovie 11 on one computer, and I want to import it into a project that I am working on, on another computer.

I want to import one imovie project into another one.  In other words, I have created a short sequence in iMovie 11 on one computer, and I want to import it into a project that I am working on, on another computer.  I copied the project files onto a hard drive, and then connected that drive to the Mac that my main project is on, but when I select "import" the files are faint gray -meaning I can't select them.  Help!  I want to transfer a sequence of shots from one iMovie 11 project on one computer, into another iMovie 11 project on another computer.

    Tell me it ain't so!
I wish I could.  The research you've done is correct.
Wether you copy and paste or rebuild the Project from the other computer, you're going to need to get your Evnets copied from the other computer.
The Prjoject files only contain pointer back to the original media.

  • Theme Rendering picks up desktop image & open windows?

When I 'apply' a theme in iMovie (like the Open - Road Trip theme,)something very odd happens - the rendered result flickers between the expected theme video output and a garbled version of my desktop background and any other windows I may have open. It happens every time. I've tried deleting preferences and reinstalling iM but no good. Working solely off of the internal HD, have ample space (@50% free.) Not seeing any issues in any other application. Has anybody seen this or have any suggestions?

I haven't tried burning a DVD but have exported to different file types (.mov & .mpg). The weird video I'm seeing in the timeline is what shows up in the output. i.e. Down to the frame, I can see the same distorted background image.

  • I have an iMac running system 10.10.3.  I would like to use an external hard drive to save all my iMovie projects.  How do I transfer the files and tell iMovie where to find them?

How can I move all my iMovie projects to an external hard drive and save all future projects to that same drive without constantly getting the 'can't find files' statement?  I am using iMovie 10.0.7,

Have a look at the help files on this at:  http://help.apple.com/imovie/mac/10.0.8/#/mov3fa25bae7
You can have multiple libraries if you want and save them anywhere.

  • ADF Map Viewer Themes Rendering Problem

    Hi,
Im presently working on ADF Map Viewer. Im facing the below mentioned issue. Can any one has come across this???
Im building the Themes using Map Builder.
I have 3 thems, which i combined together & created as a Base Map using Map Builder.
While adding the themes, i also set the theme mode as "Mapviewer_native". The themes are Area Theme, Region Theme & Building Block Theme.
For the first theme, i did not specify any minimum scale & maximum scale to make sure that this theme needs to be rendered initially.
For the second theme, which supposed to be rendered after doing certain zoom in...for this theme i have set the Max & Min scale as Max 3 || Min 8.
For the third theme i have added the range from 3 to 0.
Im able to test this fine with Map Builder...On making zoom in at certain levels the second theme is getting rendered..and after doing some more zoom in the third theme is getting rendered.
Till this everything fine... Here the problem came....
I used <dvt:map component & assigned the above created Map as Base Map... But here im not able to see the second theme...Initially its showing the Area Map & On selecting the Zoom In ...its directly going to theme 3.
Can you please suggest me some thing by using i can get this second theme as well....
Looking forward to hear from you
    Regards,
    Konjeti

  • Clips disappeared in iMovie - how to get them back?

I've had a number of clips just disappear from my events in iMovie 9.0.8.
In the Event Library, the thumbnail still shows, the sound plays, but there is no video.
When I click on "Reveal in Finder", the source files shows but only as very small (e.g. 150KB). The clips which still work are all in the many MBs when I do the same and reveal in finder. The source files themselves don't play video (nor do they have sound), whereas the source files for clips which are still ok in iMovie will play just fine in QuickTime. What's even more mystifying is that when I go back in Time Machine, the source files for the missing clips never show up as large or playable, even though I know for certain that these clips worked in the past. I have not recently done any software/system upgrades, moved or deleted files or done anything unusual that I can think of.
Any ideas? Has anyone seen this before?

Your original media files in the finder are obviously too small and since they are the same on Time Machine copies, they must have been like this for some time.  If your earliest Time machine versions are too small I don't see any way of recovering them.
Were they from a different source or imported in a different way from the clips that still work?

  • My camera creates .avi files, imovie can't read them

I have a camera that creates .avi files and I wanted to use imovie if possible or another software to create movies if imovie won't work, can anyone suggest what I need to do?

    Video Tracks: ?, 640 × 480, 30 fps, 1.84 Mbps
The video codec is not recognized. Very likely a proprietary format that is only works with Windows. You need someone who can read the files on a Windows system and convert them to an industry standard codec such as DV.
Who is the manufacturer and what is the model number of this camera?

  • IMovie - cannot find different themes as shown in ap store

My daughter has been wanting this ap forever. Finally she downloads it but she cannot find all the themes that it shows in the ap store description. We have gone under settings after creating a project, but can only find themese like CNN, travel, etc.  Does anyone know how we can find these themesÉ

Yes it is compatible, but there is that rider at the bottom of the full description for the app, as I quoted above. It is very confusing!
The app I have on my iPhone doesn't have the full capability as the app for an iPad (Pad as distinct from Pod). For example, the iPad version has waveforms for the audio track. This enables editing of soundtracks, such as fades and volume adjustments within the track.
So, there are several "varieties" or "flavours" of iMovie for iOS, depending on which device you are using.

  • Imovie 10.01. all themes have 'south atlantic ocean' embedded on the title frame.

Just started to uses imovie, latest version and when I created my movie using one of the themes I put in my title but on playing noticed that the tite also contained 'South Atlantic Ocean'. I've never been there and can't find a way of removing this. Anyone got a fix? My OS is Maverick.
    Thanks

    Is it the Travel theme?
What kind of camera was used to shoot the video or pictures you're using? Is it location aware?
Your media may have EXIF data that's telling iMovie it was shot in the South Atlantic.
You can use iPhoto to edit the location data if it's incorrect.
