I have used iMovie many times. I have created a movie. When I try to share it, it runs down to 2 minutes and crashes. I have tried every way of sharing. Any suggestions?

I have had the same problem for quite some time now. I have tried to make a movie with pictures.
I found out that panoramic pictures are the problem. I deleted them an I can now share.

imovie 5.0.2 always crashes when I try to evport footage to Mini DV tape. I'm runing OSX 10.4.3 and have the video project on a second internal HDD in my dual chip 2.5 GHz Power Mac

Hi Timotheus - my only thought is that if your movie was made up of MPEG4 material, then it would not export to a DV tape.
What format is your movie?
Another thought! Don't have an iSight camera attached when trying to Share to camera.

Imovie crashing when I try to share to media browser or idvd. Help?

Every time I try to share my iMovie 9 project to the media browser or iDVD or export using Quicktime, the movie seems to load whether it takes 45 minutes or 14 minutes when at the end of the time it shuts down and doesn't complete the job on my 27" iMac.

What do you mean by "trashing iMovie pref files"? What are pref files?
• Delete iMovie pref. file
iMovie pref. file resides.
Mac Hard Disk (start-up HD)/Users/"Your account"/Library/Preferences
and is named. (one or more of these)
com.apple.iMovie.plist
com.apple.iMovie3.plist
com.apple.iMovie7.plist
com.apple.iMovie8.plist
com.apple.iMovie9.plist
and find
com.apple.iApps.plist
While iMovie is NOT RUNNING - move this/these file/s out on to desk-top.
Now restart iMovie.
AFTER - Panic halts - or Force HALT - when Mac hangs and needs to be Stopped and re-Started
• When having to do this - it also introduces small errors on hard disk that can add up to major problems.
That Why one has to run
• Repair Permissions - Disk Util too
• Repair Hard disk - Disk Util tool (but to do this You must start from DVD or external hard disk - can't do brain surgery on one self)

Imovie crash when I try to export my movie

I've made a movie about me in iMovie for school, it is 2.28 min long. But when I try to export it, iMovie crash. It's so frustrating that when I for the first time use iMovie (which I spent a lot of money on), it compleatly crash. Somebody help me!! Need to have it done for wensday...

Try exporting the project, and re-importing it.
Also try to restart your iOS device.
I find a soft-reset (restart while holding the power button until you see the apple logo).

IMovie Crashes when I try to import a movie file

I am trying to import an MPEG-2 file into iMovie. However, whenever I bring up the import window, as soon as I begin scrolling through my file, iMovie freezes up and has to be shut down. I can't even get to the point where I can TRY to upload it.
What is going on?

I have no idea, but same thing happens to me. I'm on a G5 with Tiger. Here is my work-around.
1. If you don't have this application, you can download it free. It is called MPEG Streamclip. Google search this name to find the home page (it has been so long since I've downloaded this app I can't provide you with a link).
With this application you can convert the MPEG2 files to .mov files (or just about anything else), at which point the import should be easy. However, be aware that the file conversion process is lengthy, so set the conversion up to run overnight.
In my case, the MPEG2 files are coming from an older HD/SD JVC camera, or a newer JVC camera that records files in a .tod format. I don't know whether Apple neglected JVC or JVC neglected Apple. Just to get started I have to transfer the camera files into a disk image, which iMovie recognizes as a camera. Unfortunately, my G5 immediately freezes upon my import command, and I have to hold the power switch down to initiate a shutdown.

Locate and move the com.apple.iMovie.plist and com.apple.iMovieApp.plist.lockfile files to the Desktop, launch iMovie and try again. If that corrects the problem you can delete them from the Desktop.
They will be in your Home/User/Library/Preference folder.
NOTE: In Lion and Mountain Lion the Home/Library folder is now invisible. To make it permanently visible enter the following in the Terminal application window: chflags nohidden ~/Library and press the Return key - 10.7: Un-hide the User Library folder.

Close out of the camera app, double tap the home button and completely close out of the app.
Then do a reset, no data loss. Hold down the home/sleep button together until you see the apple logo and then release, then wait for the phone to boot back up.
Then check your camera roll again.

AcidSearch is causing the problems for you (and would most likely have been the cause of the problems with Safari 3 as well):

Delete the 2 folders highlighted above and then retry Safari.

I am using iMovie 5.0.2 When I try to share my movie to my video camera (to Mini Dv tape) the program closes. I have tried this several times and the program always closes. I know the connection is good because I am able to control my video camera from within iMovie (play, fast forward, etc) but I cannot share to the camera. What to do? THanks

I don't know where you are located, but if your camera came from Europe, it may be that it does not have a DV Out option.
Is this possible?

One Must NEVER move or alter any folders named
• iMovie Event's - or -
• iMovie Projects - or - alike
on DESKTOP/FINDER - Ever ! - ONLY Within the iMovie Program ! else all connections are broken and hard to impossibly to mend !
but rather do as described here under
Moving Event's and Project's
Connection - Either connect one Mac in Target mode to the other via FireWire. Or use an external hard disk !
(Target-Mode - Start one Mac e.g. laptop - BUT keep T-key down during full up-start - Now a FW-symbol is jumping around the screen and it will work as an external hard disk when connected to the other Mac)
A. The External Hard Disk - MUST BE - Mac OS Extended (hfs) formatted to work for Video. UNIX/DOS/FAT32/Mac OS Exchange works for most other things but not for Video whatever program is used (iMovie or FinalCut)
B. Should be a FireWire one as USB/USB2 performs badly to me and especially when filling up
C. Do never Move or Alter any folder named
• iMovie Event's - or -
• iMovie Project's
on DeskTop/Finder - as this will result in iMovie losing connections to them and repair can be anything from hard to impossibly
D. Moving and Copying must be done within iMovie application and Events to Events - and - Project's to Project's.
E. Moving Project's to Event's - Do not work for me - I have to export project as a QuickTime movie then Import this into Events.
Event's window can show two faces
