IMovie08 has never worked for me, is it My NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT card???

My preinstalled copy of iMovie v 7.1.1 will not startup, the dock icon will show that the app is not responding
I have a fresh out of the box 2 x 3.2 Ghz Quad-Core Intel Xeon Power Mac
pre-installed Mac OSX 10.5.1
I migrated from my titanium laptop to my new Mac.
migrated my user account, applications and system settings
then used the Mac OSX 10.5.2 combo update
I then reinstalled iMovie
running disk permission repair before and after each of the step I took above
still no go
Application Not Responding
several post state that removing some of the preferences will help this issue but so far those haven't worked at all in my case
would be great to know exactly which preferences have anything to do with iMovie
I have scanned over the discussions and seen this very topic all over, but no apple tech responding.
please let us in on how to resolve this issue
I hope we can do this without completely reinstalling all software.(makes a preinstall pretty useless)

I just don't know what I'm doing wrong, but I've never been able to set up Back to my mac. There doesn't seem to be a whole lot to it if you've got a dot mac account, all Apple hardware and (in my case) a static IP address for the Airport Base Station (which is now a 1TB TimeCapsule). I feel like I must be missing something obvious as it seems I see the problem appearing less frequently with posts on and off this board now that 10.5.2 is out. Have a missed a post here which solved something obvious?
Here's the basic setup.
Home Computer is G5 Tower, always on connected directly to TimeCapsule which is connected directly to cable modem. The TimeCapsule has a static IP address and I have a couple others which are unassigned. Running 10.5.2 with Back to my Mac Enabled.
Laptop MBP moves all over town and country (and globe) with all the same systems and updates.
I have 3 different dot mac accounts (all full user) and have rotated through them to see if that would help. I'm not 100% certain which one the desktop is running, so I've registering all 3 (one at a time, of course) to see if it would magically show up in the shared bar. I'm not entirely certain if I'd need to log in and out to see that. Am I?
I run Apple Remote Desktop 3 when I'm on my local network, but have never used it across the internet. Tried it last night from London and realized there are configuration issues that I'm probably not aware of and just have not had time to troubleshoot it whilst on a family trip here.
I did (only for this trip) password protect the screen (in Security prefs), but I thought that would at least present itself for entry if I was successful enough to actually access the G5 Tower. Yes? No?...
I'm just kind of stuck and it would be so nice to be able to access the desktop on this trip. Does anyone have any suggestions for a fix while I'm on the road?

I had a moment of light when I was able to access my wife's computer (which was on) and then remotely access the desktop. For about 5 whole minutes it worked! I checked the settings there and then made the really stupid mistake of trying to change the Screen Sharing settings away from Remote Management to Screen Sharing, and then totally lost my connection. I feel so dumb. I'd forgotten that turning one off to get the other on would obviously not work. [sigh]
But at least I saw it work briefly on another computer.
Any idea how to turn BACK on Screen Sharing or Remote Management, remotely?

Keyboard shortcut for Copies has never worked in print dialog

I don't know if this is the right place to report a bug, but it has always irritated me that the keyboard shortcut ALT-C to move the focus to the Copies field has never worked in the Adobe Reader print dialog. It should work as the underscore exists in "Copies:" I use the shortcut all the time in Office whenever i want to print more than one copy. It would be nice if this would work in Adobe Reader also. My Apple TV does not work and has never worked.

My Apple TV does not work and has never worked. I replaced it twice and replaced my router and DSL modem but no luck. I spent hours on tech support with both apple and my ISPs with no luck. Any ideas? Is the Apple TV a donation to apple? I have had the device for 8 months but it will not work for longer than 15 minutes before it drops with network errors. All of my other devices work perfectly on the network including 2 iPads, laptops and an old wii. I love apple products and this is the first real disappointment I have had. The Apple TV seems like a major dud of a product.

Seems unlikely you have had two faulty replacements, and more likely that there may be some network compatibility issue or problem with reception in the location the AppleTV lies - anything close to it that might be interfering?
I am assuming you are connected via wifi - if you can try an ethernet connection to rule wifi issues out.
Could you try it at somone else's house maybe? If it worked there it would point to something specific at your location.
You could try replacing it again I guess or seeing if they can offer you credit or a refund.

Network Extender has never worked

We received a network extender from Verizon due to the lack of coverage in the area we live - too far from a tower.
I have tried every weekend to get this thing going and I always get a solid blue power light, solid blue wan light a SLOW BLINKING RED SYSTEM LIGHT and a solid magenta GPS light.
I tried calling Verizon for support but the tech rep didn't know what to do and was trying to read through the manual, I think and the call dropped after about an hour (back to the lack of coverage issue). I was so tired of not getting anywhere that I just let it go for the evening.
Bottom line is - this thing has never worked. All I can find is that a slow red blinking light is there is an abnormal condition.
Is there any further troubleshooting I can do or do I just need to see if Verizon can send me another one?

Update - now I have a solid red GPS light & the slow blinking red SYS light. Will let it sit for an hour (as the sticker on the side suggests) and see if there's any difference

If you mean AppleCare, then I would believe the answer will be yes.
First make sure you have a full backup of everything on your Mac, then run, don't walk to your nearest Apple store.
Note: Due to your Mac now being in computer years, somewhat elderly, Apple may not have the require parts in stock. This will either mean you might have to leave it with them for a number of days, or maybe they will offer you a new Mac mini. While a new Mac mini (if offered) might be a welcome possibility be aware that the new Mac mini no longer has a CD/DVD drive and it comes with Mac OS X Lion and as a result might not run some of your old software.

Online number has never worked

I have just had a reminder that my online number is about to expire, but it has never worked. When I dial it, it connects for a nano-second, and then immediately I get the disconnected beeps.
I wondered if it was my phone supplie preventing the number being used? (They don't weant me to circumnavigate their service?).

Are you certain that the battery has not run out? Have you kept it plugged into a wall outlet for at least 30 minutes to see if it is just needing to be charged?
If it does not come on after being plugged in for 30 minutes or so, then without a functional Power button you cannot reset it, so you are going to have to try to put it into Recovery mode and restore it:
If you can't update or restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support
You may not even be able to do this since you cannot proactively turn it off, but you can try.

It just stops responding, usually for 3 minutes (especially when I'm working in iPhoto or Contacts). I regret buying this machine. I wish I could just go back to my previous MacBook Pro. This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of this exercise is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login. Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. The instructions provided by Apple are as follows:
Be sure your Mac is shut down.
Press the power button.
Immediately after you hear the startup tone, hold the Shift key. The Shift key should be held as soon as possible after the startup tone, but not before the tone.
Release the Shift key when you see the gray Apple icon and the progress indicator (looks like a spinning gear).
Note: If FileVault is enabled under Mac OS X 10.7 or later, you can’t boot in safe mode.
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including wireless networking on certain Macs.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem(s)?
After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test.

Ipad mini headset has never worked.

I have a brand new ipad mini less than 2 months old... Plugged in my headset and wont work and has never worked. The ipad mini has been in an otterbox since day 1 and yet customer service is giving a run around instead of investigating the issue. I should have added to my posting (instead of using this "reply" - it is the server passwork it is asking for and I have never known that I had one and assumed it was the passwork I always used for this type of thing.

This is whle my phone is locked both on the slide up toolbar/menu interface and on the normal screen before i slide to unlock.

I skimmed through this very long post but from what I read, this sounds much more like a coverage issue with your network than a device issue. I have not seen or heard of this issue before and I do not have this issue personnally and & I use the music app quite frequently while working in the yard.
The DND feature should not be a factor at all if you're sure it's turned off. I always recommend restarting your phone by holding down the home button + the lock button for 10-12 seconds until the Apple logo appears. Once the phone reboots, do a test to see if this has helped to resolve the issue.
If not, go to Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings. Then, test it out again. Post back if neither of these solutions solve your issue.
