IMovies 09 (8.0.6): Unable to Export Movie: Error -43

OS: 10.7.2
Imovie 09: 8.0.06
When I go to export a movie using Share --> Export Using Quicktime
A popup comes up and says:
Can't export Movie becasue an erro occured. -43
What is error -43?  The error is not very descriptive.
Thanks, Jim

I have my souce movies stored on an external 500gb drive, with 35gb free. The drive in the laptop has 30gb free.
I was able to get imovie to use the external hard drive to store the movies by creating a symlink from $HOME/Movies to /Volumes/Movies.

  • Unable to export movie Error code = -2002

I am exporting using quicktime on my MacBook, Movie to MPEG4, options H.264, Data Rate 1700, image size 768x576 SD, frame rate 30, Key Frame Automatic.
iMovie opens a window that says Exporting project, the line shows progress until it gets to the end, then the error comes up.
Any idea what this error is and what is happening?
    Thanks

No it is not answered, but since no one has any comment, just forget I ever posted it.

  • TS1424 ipad: Rental movie downloaded 98%.. "unable to download movie" error

    Good Afternoon,
I purchased a rental movie to watch on a plane ride today.  Unfortunately the movie hadn't finished downloading before I left the house.  I've tried 3 or 4 different internet connections (including verified very fast connections at the hotel and starbucks) and I get the "unable to download movie" error.
I can't find a way to delete the rental to try and start the download over, nor does syncing help.  Please assist!
    thank you,

Move movie from iTune to iPad

  • What does iMovie (09) do when I select "Export Movie"?

I can't believe this isn't an FAQ, but I can't seem to find the answer anywhere. I love iMovie but, as many people realize quickly, part of what makes iMovie so simple to use is that it assumes certain things so that the endusers don't have to worry about them.
Well, I guess "Export Movie" is one of those, but I'm curious - what does iMovie do with my video when I use that option? I realize, for example, that "Export with Quicktime" allows me to select quite a few settings for the export, but that's not the case for iMovie, except for being able to select the exported movie resolution.
What other settings does iMovie assume?

Thanks, everyone! I apologize for being unintentionally vague. To take a step back, my source is video shot with a Canon HF200 in FXP mode which records in 1920x1080 resolution.
The root of my question is curiosity around what iMovie does to my video when I'm burning to DVD, and specifically, I noticed that there's a difference in the quality of the video when I do "Share to iDVD" versus "Export Movie" (then dragging the project into my iDVD template).
I had added some text titles to parts of my video and noticed the "Share to iDVD" caused the text to be more "jaggy". Using "Export Movie" appeared to create DVDs that didn't look jaggy, so naturally, I thought "Export Movie" was the better way to burn DVDs, which then started making me wonder what magic happens when that option is chosen.
Subsequent to my posting this question, I then ran into this thread: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2214292&tstart=90 and learned that iMovie drops half the lines in a frame when exporting.
    - Is this what was happening when I use "Share to iDVD"? Was iMovie dropping half the lines which caused my video to look jaggy? Pictures of the videos below. In these pictures, the DVD was being played by a progressive scan DVD player on an LCD TV (if that makes a difference).

    http://i73.photobucket.com/albums/i211/joelq/DSC_1680.jpg
    - I got even more confused when I read that iMovie only does this when exporting to 960x540 or smaller. :-/ If that's the case, then is "Export Movie" exporting to a larger resolution which explains why the video quality seemed better, i.e., the video didn't appear jaggy?
    - And finally, when shooting 1920x1080 60i video, what's the best export process to get the best quality DVDs? Is this possible with iMovie 09 (or even HD)? Or do I need to upgrade to FCE? (Or should I just invest in the eBook :-)?)
    Thanks everyone!

    I went to export movie
    set it to mpeg 4

Hp dual proccessor N1850   Windows XP Pro

If you successfully exported to iTunes, then there should be a copy in the Media Browser.
In iDVD, you can find the Media Browser at the bottom right of the window. Open it and navigate to your movie. You can drag it in to iDVD from there.

  • Canon HG10 - Export Movie Error -2125?

    HI,
My workflow is basically, Plug in camera, import the clips from hdd (which takes ages since it converts from AVCHD to Apple lossless and takes up much more space than the original movie) - I drag and edit the clips to make a small movie then choose export video and set the quicktime options to 720p - it sits there quite happily spending hours rendering the movie and promptly quits with an error code, why does iMovie doe this, and is there any way to actually export from iMovie 08 at least HD content? (after all it DID import HD content....)
    -M

I have the same error. Tried everything. The project is quite large, so I tried to split it in smaller parts and then sharing to external HD via QT or just export movie with default settings as "large". After ~300 minutes (that is, in fact, 5 hours for just one part) of exporting it says that it could not export the movie due to error -2125. That error number should mean something, shouldn't it? Something to give a clue what is wrong (with me apparently)...
And, no, iMovie 06 will not work either, because it does not support that sony camera.

  • Unable to Export Win32API Error 2

I am using Lightroom 5.6 on my Acer Windows 8.1 PC. when I try and Export a photo it gives me the following error:
    Unable to Export:
An internal error has occurred: WIn32API error 2("The system cannot find the file specified.') when calling ShellExecuteExW from AgWorkspace.shellExecute
I Have restarted my PC to no avail.

In your Export Dialog, near the bottom is the Post-processing section. Makes sure it is set to something other than blank. "Do Nothing" for example.

  • Test / Export Movie Error

CS3 Flash. Just installed. When I go to Test movie or Export
    Movie I get this error:
Error creating Flash movie file. ....
    Locked drive.
I am running Leopard and unlocked my drive in the "get info"
but it automatically locks it again.
Strangest thing that I have seen.
I can export to an external drive but not my hard drive. I
have no problems with previous versions of Flash.
I can although save the movie to my hard drive.
    any ideas?

Go into Publish settings and then to the Flash tab and down
at the bottom make sure that "device sounds" isn't checked. Unless
you are publishing for a mobile phone or something like that, you
    don't want that checked.
    I think…

  • HT1097 Unable to export movie "because file _ has been moved"?

I just made an entire movie in Imovie 08. When I try to export it, I get a box that pops up that says "searching for File (some number like 8 or 10)", at which point the only button I can hit is "stop". Then another one pops up about how it is unable to locate the file because it has been moved, and then I have the option to Search or Cancel. I've tried "searching", but I have no idea what "File 10" or "File 8" are. I have thousands of video files, and none are labeled that way. So I have to hit Cancel and then the whole export is cancelled.
Its obvously saying my files have been moved, but I have no idea where to...nothing has been moved since I started the project.
Help. I've never had a problem like this before.

.. "*Unable to prepare project for publishing*
The project could not be prepared for publishing because an error occurred. (-41)"
error-code# -41 indeed indicates a vague 'memory full' error.
in case, you're using an ext. HDD - is it 'Mac'-formatted? Or fat32, ntfs, etc.?
but this doesn't mean alone the target-disk, but the internal, 'MacOs'-disk too.
    things to test:
    • simply relaunch your Mac - maybe some 'pointers' are simply .. kaputt ..
    • did you partition your internal drive? - if so, the 'macOs'-partition needs at last 20-40 GBs free for any conversion-process.
or is it a 'solid' single partition with some tons of free disk-space?

  • Unable to export movie

    hello,
i am using imovie for the first time and i can't seem to export changes of my movie.
    1. i imported my .mp4 movie into imovie
    2. then i did some editing
    3. when i go to
Share > Export using QuickTime > Select from the Export: pull-down.
every options there are greyed out.
so, how do i export my changes?? i am stuck.
please reply here or to [email protected]
    thanks!!

    1. i try to drag the event to the project window, it did not work
This has to be done slowly to allow the source file pointers to correctly identify the start and end points of the source file and then to activate the project window BEFORE YOU RELEASE THE DOP ACTION. Many users are over-anxious and release the content before the project window is fully activated which nullifies the drag & drop action.
    2. i try to 'add to the project' but where is this option? i look everywhere.
If you don't have the "Advanced Tools" option set, go to the "Preferences" menu and and activate this option. It will allow your tool buttons to have contextual or secondary functions. One of these functions is to turn the "Edit" button (the one immediately to the right of to the "Arrow" button) into an "Add" button.
    3. then i look under help for adding to project, it talks about the 'add to project' tool, but i honestly can not find it.
    Here is what I do...
    1) "Option-Click" the Event clip your wish to add to select the entire clip.
    2) Once an Event clip is selected, the "Edit" button changes to an edit icon with a "+" sign added indicating it will now add the selected file to the project when pressed. (Alternatively, you can "Control-Click" the selected clip and select the "Add to Project" context menu option in the little window that opens.)
i want to put this video on a web page, i understand .mp4 is widely used than .mov, correct? if so, how do i convert it from .mov to ,mp4??
MOV, MP4, and M4V are all file containers that can hold the default H.264/AAC iMovie '08 shared/exported data. There is no need to change file container unless you really want to do so. MOV containers are "generic." They may contain any QT compatible compression format. The MP4 container can contain either MPEG4/AAC or H.264/AAC compressed data. M4V files may only contain protected or unprotected H.264 and/or AAC compressed data. If you really wish to move H.264/AAC data from either an MOV or M4V file container to an MP4 file container without having to re-compress the data, simply use the MPEG Streamclip (free) "Save As..." File menu option and select the "MP4" file container in the "pop-up."

  • IMovie 10.0.6 Fails to export movie

Hey, I have a late 2012 macbook pro trying to export an HD movie. It plays just fine in "theater" but will not export AT ALL to anything. It fails and gives and incomplete file. I have a 4min movie, it'll maybe get 1 min done and then stop. No mater if I bring down the quality, it still fails or try a different codec.
What is going on? I REALLY have to finish this movie today. I'm very disappointed that all my efforts will be ruined due to a stupid Apple lazy bug. (This is for a job, will miss deadline)

Thank you so much QuickTimeKirk - there are times when the obvious eludes me!

  • Cannot export movie, Error -36 - tried everything.

    hello my friends.

i am editing a movie (dur 7:00 with a lot of material).
when i tried to export it a first he would export but in the last second the exported file was missing (searched 1080p ex.. in spotlight and couldnt find it).
and now when i am trying to export it , imovie says : "unexpected error -36"
tried to finalize project - it ended up also in error -36
tried to consolidate media - not responding.
tried to upload via youtube - after 4 hours of waiting it told me that i have network problems (which i didnt).
please imovie experts , i need your help.
    what else can i do?

Should work then. (Did for me).

  • Exporting movie errors

    Hello
I've seen references to these errors in the forum, but no clear indication as to what the fix is or what caused it.
    Export to 1080p I get error -108
    Export to 720p I get rror -50
I am able to export to quicktime....
The movie is 1 hour long. My hard disk has 90GB left, should be enough? I have 4 GB of ram, and am running snow leopard with the latest update, dito for imovie 11, all the latest updates.
I want to burn it via idvd, so I'm not sure if exporting the movie to quicktime is the best way? Quality wise? I'm not a video expert.
Does someone have a clear idea what causes these errors? I can't find a definitive error code listing from apple.
If I can't export this movie in 720p, I will cry myself into dehydration.
    Thank you all

    Update:
I called apple support, and they were very helpful. The jist of it is, in my hour+ long movie, and have many many small clips with many small audio clips as well. This is likely too much for the finalizing process. The solution is to do one of the following:
    1. chop the movie up into quarters, and export them mpeg4 with the h.254 codec
    - reimport them as events and create a new project with the 4 clips
    - finalize them or export them to whatever format you want and need.
This should work just fine. Will give this a go, but running out of time today so will try later on.
    Hope this helps someone else.

  • Unable to Load Movie Error Message

Once I import video into photoshop...when I click on the video file it gives me this error message: The selected file cannot be played because your system does not have the required compressor/decompressor(codec) installed.  Please help.  I have no idea what this means.  Thanks!

You need to download the latest codes from the web and install them. Generally codecs are programs to decompress/compress the video files. So there some codecs which can compress/decompress all types of file formats.
