Import Catalog w/ LR 1.1 - ratings not visible in Bridge?

Can't find this in any previous posts - so has anybody else seen this?
The last two imports using the new feature of "catalogs" in LR 1.1 to transfer files from laptop MacBook Pro to desktop G-5 seemed to go ok until I went to Bridge. One was a catalog export to the desktop of laptop, then the catalog was imported via ethernet. The other was a catalog export to a DVD then imported to the desktop. All the tweaks and ratings made it into LR but when I went to find the rated photos in Bridge, the pix were there but no ratings.
What's going on? Makes me wonder why should I bother integrating LR more into my workflow when I hit barriers like this.
Bill

No, I don't thinks so. I thought the whole purpose of the Catalogs was to preserve edits and xmp.

  • Version Cue cs4 is not visible in Bridge CS4

I have installed Adobe Master collection CS4 including VC server. The VC is not visible in Bridge. When I try to contact the server with Drive I stil can't see server. I can see a shared drive with the various projects, but it is not possible to see the various versions of my files, like I used to in Bridge CS3.
In preferences -> scripts there is no script for Version Cue. In Tools there is no item for version Cue. What is missing or has gone wrong with installation.
    Please help.
    Erwin.

Very few people use Version Cue, so no reply means "we got nothing".

  • Changes made in Camer Raw are not visible in Bridge

I'm editing the RAW images in Camera raw started from Bridge (Ctr- R). By returning to Bridge with "done" the changes are not visible. This worked until recently.
s there any setting which prevents Bridge taking in consideration the info from the XMP file ?
Re-starting Camera Raw I can see the changes from the previous session ...
    thanks in advance

I love these quick solutions also.

  • RAW thumbnails not visible in Bridge CS4

Well, first of all, forgive me, because I'm VERY behind the times :~) I can't afford to be up to date :~( Also forgive me if I do not use the correct terminology :~)
I just started taking photos in RAW with my Canon G11 and was not able to open them in PS CS4. So I found a thread here and downloaded the update, which fixed that problem. Whew!
Now the problem is that the Thumbnails do not display in Bridge CS4~~just a CR2 icon. Would anyone care to venture a guess as to why that is? Memory? I have a three year old iMac with only 2 GB of RAM, but am planning on installing 4GB as soon as I have time.
Anyway, any thoughts will be appreciated.

    Elaine,
In Bridge, go to the Tools menu and Purge the Cache for the offending folder(s).
DO NOT use the global Purge Cache command in Bridge Preferences.

  • Ratings not visible

Since working with the german version of Aperture 1.5 rating stars and labels are not permanently visible any more
I tried already to find something to make them visible - but found no preset and no menu item to bring them back.
Any Ideas what I could try else?

Check in View/Metadata Overlays that you have Viewer, Grid view, and Light Table selected.
In View/View Options (Command+J) you can change the data displayed.

  • New folder created in Windows explorer not visible in Bridge.

If I create a new folder in My Pictures
folder using Windows Explorer, it doesn't show up in Bridge
. I do it that way because selecting
Get Photos from Camera doesn't allow me to select only the photos I want from the card. Why does Bridge not show all folders in My Pictures. I have Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit. This message is formatting rather strangely.
    Thank you

Libraries rely on a good bit of "magic" that has been added to Explorer.
My advice:  Avoid them like the plague.  They do nothing you can't do by organizing your folders yourself, but they cause a host of problems.  I've disabled them in my system and in a year I haven't missed them one bit.  I'm all the happier for it.
Windows 7 is a great system, but one of its weak points is [some parts of] Windows Explorer.  I think the same people programmed Explorer as made those awful commercials.

  • Canon 5d MK II files not visible in Bridge. Can fix?

We have the latest Camera Raw, but in Bridge these files display no image thumbnails. Any way to fix this?
    Thanks

You should first purge the cache for folder using the tools menu in Bridge. When this is no luck check the correct path of ACR plug in as described on the download page, if it is not in the right place it does not work!
Also check in PS under the menu Photoshop - about plug ins - Camera Raw. Inhere should show the correct version only once.

  • LR Rankings not visible in Bridge

I am using Bridge CS2, 1.0.4.6 And Lightroom 1.0. I have done rankings in Lightroom, and then I cannot see them in Bridge. I want to do my sorting in Bridge. What is particularly strange is that when I did Lightroom rankings once last week, the rankings DID show up in Bridge, but only after the third time I started Bridge. But today, I spent a lot of time ranking in LR, and nothing transferred.
If the LR rankings flat won't transfer to bridge, then is there a way, within LR, to move only files with a certain ranking to another folder?
    Thanks,
    Dean

    > How do I "save the meta data?" I assumed that whatever I did in LR was
    > permanent, as I have not noticed a Save menu item.
Information can be saved in the LR database and/or the image files. When
you toggle the rankings using LR, these rankings are saved in the LR
database. There is an option to automatically save the information to the
image files, but don't set that option because it causes severe performance
problems. Instead, save the meta data manually when you need it, such as
when you need it in BR.

  • LR RAW adjustments not visible in Bridge/ACR or iView MP3

I have just added LR 1.3 to my RAW workflow after using Bridge /ACR /CS2 for some time. If I make adjustments in LR - a big improvement over ACR 3.7 - I cannot see the changes when I open in the other applications. I am using DNG. I am sure I am missing something simple but I cannot find the answer anywhere. How do I do this please?

    Gary,
I don't know if you are going to check back here in this forum again. But I think you will find it necessary to export copies of your images and then open to those copies in order to see your Lightroom adjustments.

  • DNG changes made in LR4 not visible in LR3

I am working on a MacBook Pro with both Lightroom 3 and Lightroom 4 installed. I wanted to test my assumption DNG is a DNG and that changes made to a DNG in LR4 would be visible in LR3, so I made changes to a DNG in Lightroom 4, clicked Update DNG Preview and Metadata and then exported that file as a DNG. I imported that DNG into a different Lightroom 3 catalog and the changes were not visible, even after choosing Read Metadata from File. Those same DNG changes were not visible in Bridge either. The changes are visible in the Finder, but not in Preview. Anyone know why and how I can make Lightroom 3 recognize the DNG changes made in LR4?

Your DNG is original-image-data + an adjustment recipe stored as metadata that tells LR how to display and export the image.  Your DNG does not contain adjusted image data like a TIF or JPG would.
Your adjustments are probably in Process Version 2012, new to LR4, and only understood by LR4 and ACR 6.7/ACR 7.x and newer.  The embedded JPG preview in the DNG is what LR4 put there.
There is a difference between a DNG being understood as a valid raw file by older Adobe products which it can, and those older products knowing how to interpret the adjustment recipe, which they can’t.
Specifically, LR3 doesn’t know how to interpret PV2012 adjustments, since it was last updated in 2011 and only knows about PV2010 and earlier.
Other non-Adobe programs, like Finder, can only see the embedded JPG preview which is the LR4 rendering, but LR3 re-renders the image using its own interpretation of the settings it can understand.

  • Raw Photos not Visible in CS5 Bridge

I have been using CS5 for several years with my Sony a100 DSLR.  I recently purchased a Sony a99 DSLR and my Raw photos are not visible in Bridge.  How can I correct this issue?

If you are referring to the Sony Alpha SLT-A99V (the EXACT model numbers are important) Camera Raw 6.x for Photoshop CS5 will never get updated for the Sony Alpha SLT-A99V.
Your options are to upgrade to Photoshop CS6 and ACR 7.2 (the first version that supported the Sony Alpha SLT-A99V) or download the free DNG Converter 7.3 (current version) and convert those files to DNG. Go to the Digital Negative (DNG) page and scroll down to Downloads to download the correct platform (Mac/Windows).

  • LR 2.1 - Importing catalog sees 'Unknown Error' and fails.

Anybody else seen this dialog box?
'Could not import catalog due to unknown error'
This is happening in LR 2.1. First catalog import attempt. I've had no issues previously.
Upon importing, LR will go through the whole process as though importing, and then at the end of the progress bar, I get the above dialog box. And nothing's there. The import failed.
    Anyone else seen this? Suggestions?

    (MacBook Pro intel 2.2)

    Hey Geoff,
Great to hear from you, as always. :)
Well, there were more un-cataloged images that may have been contributing to the situation. I had created web-rez images for my client within subfolders of the main client folder. Once I synchronized, the images were added. Unfortunately, I'm still getting the error message at the end of my import. Now, the weird thing is, if I import the LR catalog only, it disappears after the error message. But, if I tell the import to include the 'Digital Negatives', which includes all the session files (RAW,PSD, jpegs), after the import and then the error box, everything seems to be there and actually looks fine. At least as far as I can tell. I can see the all the files, the ratings, the keywords, etc. A little un-nerving though to say the least. I'm afraid to dump my original catalog and folders.
FYI, what's going on is that I work on my current client sessions (including all related files) off of my MacBook Pro as my 'Current' catalog. I then have my main LR Catalog (all other images) on a back-up RAID drive. So I'm trying to export from the MBP, over to the back-up RAID LR Catalog.
Again, the 'Export' seems to go fine. Not sure what's going on here.
Thanks for your help and input.

  • Can I import catalog photos from a usb drive?

I have imported photos from a catalog into a new catalog.  Some of the photos in the catalog are located on a remote drive.   The drive is not listed when I select the photos to be imported.  Is it possible to import catalog photos from a usb drive?
    Howie

    Hi Keith,
"Import from another catalog" is a selection found in the Lightroom "File" drop down listing. Sorry I wasn't clear in my reguest.   I have used this function to import photos in to my new Catalog from my old Catalog.  During the import process,  Lightroom creates a working catalog from which photos can be selected.     A file list on the left side of the window displays the available hard drive folders.   Once the photos to be extracted are selected the source folder is checked.  The import button, on the bottom right of the window, is highlited to execute the import function.  Since the external USB hard drive is not listed,  the import function is not available.
My question:  how do I enable the import from my USB drive? Perhaps I will have to move the files back onto my internal hard drive using my Lightroom's old catalog.

  • Can't Import Catalog - Unknown Error

Is this still a known bug without a solution?
I have LR3 on a MacBook Pro Snow Leopard and on a PC Desktiop Win XP Pro SP3.  I exported a catalog from the laptop to an external hard drive and then attempted to import it to the desktop and kept getting the dreaded Can't Import Catalog - Unknown Error message.
I don't have an issue with LR Beta because i didn't use it; I just upgraded v2.6 installations on both machines to LR3.
I like LR3 but I've got to be able to get the image files and the LR work I've done on them from my laptop to my desktop and an Unknown Error is not what I need. Am I going to have to wait for the first dot release to be able to do this?
    --Bob

Well, I just got off the phone with Adobe Technical Support and I am extremely frustrated
Support: Since you are working cross-platform (from a Mac laptop via an external hard drive and then to a Win XP desktop) we can only say that sometimes it will work and sometimes it will not.
Me: Huh?  It worked perfectly in LR 2.6.
Support:  I am sorry.  That is all I can tell you.
Me: That really ruins my month.  I've got thousands of edited images on my laptop from a 3 week trip to SE Asia and now I can't move the catalog to my desktop?  Give me a break!!
Support:  You can copy the image files to your desktop.
    Me: Without the accompanying adjustments?
    Support:  Yes.  Sorry.
    Me:  Me too.
Anyone have a better idea?  I've filed a bug report.....
