Import dialog shows iPhone twice, and photo list only shows outlines

In Aperture 2.1.2 I have been able to import photos from my iPhone until just recently. Now the import dialog shows three choices of import devices/locations, Local Disk, RJH iPhone and a second RJH iPhone. If I select either iPhone the main window displays outlines of 7 images but no picture information except for the filename. If I actually try to import the pics it says 'Import completed with errors, the following files were not imported' and it lists all the filenames. One of the iPhone devices shows up in the import list EVEN WHEN THE iPHONE IS NOT CONNECTED!
I'm sure there is a plist or something that has the list of import devices bu I have not been able to find it despite extended web and support searches.
Anyone heard of this?

OK, I have since discovered that the second iPhone device is listed only when my iPhone is plugged into a DIFFERENT USB port on my MBP. If I plug it into the same port I usually use, it is only listed one. However, both Aperture and iPhoto still see one iPhone device whether it is plugged in or not, and both show images with outlines only and won't import photos. So strange

I've been using FCP X for a good while now, Aperture, and my iPhone. We're a good team for a serious hobbiest (<--is that even a word?).
I did this morning what I normally do about once a month. Hook up my iPhone 5s to my MBP, fire up FCPX, click import and...
no videos to download? My phone is now full of pictures and videos.
I verified "All clips" are selected and that the "hide imported clips" is UNselected. Should show all my iPhone video and photo content. Always has in the past. Instead, today, I get a total of 27 photos/videos combined. Truthfully, my iPhone indicates 48 videos and over 2,000 pics.
So, knowing my mac a bit, I fire up Image Capture. I'll force this booger to do a manual download to my desktop, then I'll upload to FCPX. Same 27 photo/video combo shows on Image capture.
I restart my computer and my phone. No change.
How is it I have a full phone (only 3gb left of room), jam packed with photos and video, yet I can only "see" 27 of them on my computer but all of them on my iPhone.
Why can't I seem to "see" them and have them available for download? This coincides with the most recent update (since I've performed a download).
Any ideas on how to get my videos off my phone? Aperture is still doing the iCloud skim over fine, so I have all my photos now in Aperture Photostream files.

I've done a few pics today and a couple of videos on my iPhone. They are not showing up on image capture or FCPX now. Nothing is showing up, it is as if I have a blank iPhone.
Any ideas how to get my iPhone and mac to play nice?
Pics still skimming over iCloud to Aperture though, which is good.

I also have this problem, just from the iPhone 5s which makes my life crazy, too.
The problem of having multiple devices doesn't seem to help, but the odd part is when everything I am doing is correct, it still doesn't sync like it used to do before iCloud, and when we had to USB wire connect the iPhone to the Laptop to make contacts sync.
Might I add that I am not using MAIL on my LAPTOP?
but ?Britty sounds like her issue is easier as gmail sometimes can create duplicates so you are in good if you are not having that problem or nightmare...

as there seems to be a TRENDING on iPhone 5s not syncing with other devices or backwards.....(I have added contacts to the iPhone 5s and they never get added to the iCloud or the iPad or the Addressbook or CONTACTS on the LAPTOP....

Here is what I did:
1. Connected my iPad to the computer.
2. Opened iTunes.
3. Pressed Music Tab.
4. Pressed the Selected Playlists, Artists, Albums, and Genres
5. Then in the Playlist box below I only have the Christmas music folder checked and all the playlists in that folder checked.
6. Then I Synced my iPad

We are going to get you up and running with all picture text messages. Have you ever been able to receive picture messages in a group text before? Can ou please check some settings for me. Let's go into Settings, Messages, and is MMS Messaging swich green? How about the Group Messaging switch? If they are green, go ahead and switch those off for a few seconds and then turn them back on. Then re-try the picture message. One last thing, you can also try to reset the network settings. Settings, General, Reset, Reset Network Settings. Please keep us posted.

I use my phone for work and want to send to multiple staff groups or project leaders the same information at the same time and not all of them have email capable phones so text has always been the best solution.

22ms is a long time for your computer, but I am wondering about your network. Are you 10 base or 100 base? Switch or hub? Have you tried a direct connection with a crossover cable? Just trying to spark ideas here. I use TCP all the time but only at 500 ms intervals.

My send and receive list only gives me the option to send and receive from my email and my phone number is greyed out and it won't let's select it. I am currently in a foreign country but it was working a couple days ago here. What do I do?

Do you have another device with that email/Apple ID on it with iMessage activated? If not, you should be able to remove the checkmark for the email address. You cannot remove the Apple ID email address, but you can turn it off by tapping on it and that should remove the checkmark. Once that is gone, you are good to go. It will only use the phone number.

LR3 Import dialog - "Show in Library" option when importing existing photos gone in LR3

Please add the option "Show in Library" into the right click menu when attempting to import a photo that already exists in the LR3 catalog. It was a convenient feature in LR2 to jump directly to the existing photo in the catalog. In LR3 I must cancel the import dialog and search the photo manually which I find a not ideal workflow.

I have spent hours of searching photographs accidentaly imported in different Catalogue. To avoid this problem, I have idea to highlight Catalogue name when importing photographs.
This is one of stupid mistakes that anyone can make: Came from shooting, start importing photographs before you have checked catalogue where you are importing photographs.Import has finished, camera turned off, and you have switched on other catalogue to finish unfinished job. After that you start to scratch your head where are the photographs....
Easy solution for "lost heads" like mine can be:
When someone "with lost minds" see fault catalogue name, he or she can stop importing process and create new or load appropriate catalogue.

I have a new Apple iPhone 4. Screen and color was fine....photos looked great. Now display screen and photos appear to look like negatives of the image. What's up? Can't seem to be able to find a setting to change it back to look normal. Have only had for 5 days.

HT201317 iPhone 5 and Photo Stream - some photos don't sync

I used my iPhone 5 as my camera on my recent trip to Wales. Most of the photos synced with Photo Stream - for example walking to the castle and leaving the castle are synced and now on Photo Stream, but inside the castle will not sync. Tried turning iPhone off and on, it is charged 100%, good WiFi connection. Same thing happened every day - some photos (the ones I want to have on the iPad) seem to be stuck on the iPhone camera roll. I also turned My Photo Stream off and on again, and when it rebuilt itself, the same photos did not appear in Photo Stream. I'm at a loss as to what to do.

Try taking a new photo on your phone and see if it appears in photo stream on your iPad. If it does, photo stream is working on your phone. If you still have some photos in your camera roll that will not upload to your photo stream you may have to create a shared photo stream containing the missing photos and invite yourself to it. My iPhone 4 (iOS 5) calendar and iCloud sync only one way -- from iCloud to the phone. Any ideas why I can't sync from my iPhone calendar to iCloud?

When you add an event on Iphone, 3rd fields down from bottom, select calender > iCloud. Voila!!
I am not sure everybody understand really the intention with iCloud. It is one single calender residing on a Apple server somewhere. Selecting iCloud from any device will show this calender. Then how to sync this with other calenders is to me a mystery, or not possible, especially on Lion iCal. Please anyone.

Summary and Photo Tabs only

With the new iTunes 9.0.2 upgrade I can no longer see the other tabs in iTunes for managing the content on my Apple TV Devices. When I click on the AppleTv under Devices the only 2 tabs that appear are "Summary" and "Photos" therefore I can not manage the movies directly.
Where did the tabs go? And how do I regain control?

You have the wrong type of library set up, you need to change to a primary library after disconnecting as a secondary one first.

IPhone color and photo quality

Does the color of the iPhone (gold vs black) affect the image quality of photos? I read somewhere else that the gold color might reflect more light on a sunny day than would a black iPhone, thereby reducing the image quality of the photos taken. Does that make sense?

You are not alone. I actually returned my iPhone 6 after only a day because I was so, so disappointed in the camera. Blacks and darker colors are very muted compared with the crisp contrast offered by the 5 / 5s. But by far the noise reduction is the absolute worst. Apple is overprocessing in this respect and users have no way to opt out. I can't even believe how bad some of these images look. Here are a few of my own and then a few from around the web.
Side by side iPhone 5 versus 6. The watercolor affect from aggressive noise reduction is unbelievable. Not to mention unusable.
Again, same side by side comparison - shot with the 5 on the left, 6 on the right. Horrible!
Screenshots from a very large image I found elsewhere - too large to post here, but wanted to show real-size at 100% zoom. The entire image looks as if it's been painted. Look at the insanely bad detail in the trees:
And then I found this on twitter - perhaps the best example of all. Guy took a photo at concert from 50' away. Obviously challenging conditions - low light, distance, etc. I think we'd all expect a fair amount of grain and be fine with it. But what he didn't expect was the insane alien hand the guitarist ended up with due to - again - the heavy-handed noise reduction.
Why has Apple decided to force us all into this aesthetic? No doubt non-discerning users will not notice either way but for those of us who love / rely on our phones for crisp, high quality photos at all times - WHY did they do this?
