Import home video Onto iPad

I am using a Sony DSC HX5 shooting movies in mp4 but they will not import to my iPad using camera connector. I am using the sd card in the convertor.
What am I doing wrong?
I can import the movies onto iphotos in my mac book so I assume they are the correct format

According to your cameras specs-it shoots 1080i/720p video at 60 frames per second.
Ipad only accepts 720p video with 30fps.
You will need to convert the video-follow the steps above poster put up or research some better conversion software(mpeg streamclip, videomonkey, handbrake).

  • Import home videos onto ITunes

How can i import my home videos/ DVDs onto Itunes just as you can import your audio CDs onto Itunes?

I had home videos that were sat in my iTunes library no problem but I couldn't get them across to my iPhone, even putting them in their own playlist, ticking all the right tabs in the synch menu etc. After a lot of playing around I found that if you right click on the video, select Get Info, go to Options and then in 'Media Kind', manually change it to Music Video and it will then happily go into the music videos playlist and will synch straight across.
    Hope this helps.

What did you use to convert to MP4?
I've never tried to convert a DVD, but have had success with various other video formats using HandBrake from <Download HandBrake now.>.

  • Panasonic VDR-D100... having issues importing home videos!

    Hello,
I am having problems importing home videos from my Panasonic VDR-D100 camcorder onto my computer - any suggestions? Do I need additional software or maybe I'm just doing something wrong?
I am connecting my camera via USB then turning it on, opening up iMovie and nothing comes up! Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance for your help!
    Jen

This may seen like a stupid question, but is the camera set to "Play"? And does the screen show the words "USB Connected" or something to that effect?
Also, after everything is connected have you tried navigating to the File menu and selecting "Import from Camera..."?

Are you using the Adjust Date and Time option or the Batch Change option?  If it's the former try the latter.  If you get the same results  launch iPhoto with the Option key held down and create a new, test library.  Import  the same video file and check to see if the same problem persists.

  • Putting my home videos onto my iPad

    Hey
I was wondering how can I put my home videos and video projects that are in AVI format onto my iPad? I have QT Pro, but it doesn't have an iPad option in the export settings.
Also, for future reference, in which format should I save video projects from Adobe After Effects and Adobe Premiere so that they would play on the iPad?
    Thnx allot!
    Shir

I use the program HandBrake (free) to convert videos for the iPad. The iPad supports these formats:
H.264 video up to 720p, 30 frames per second, Main Profile level 3.1 with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps per channel, 48kHz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats; MPEG-4 video, up to 2.5 Mbps, 640 by 480 pixels, 30 frames per second, Simple Profile with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps, 48kHz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats; Motion JPEG (M-JPEG) up to 35 Mbps, 1280 by 720 pixels, 30 frames per second, audio in ulaw, PCM stereo audio in .avi file format

  • Can't sync home videos to iPad "itunes 11"

Since updating to iTunes 11 I can't sync any of my home videos from my Win 7 PC to my iPad 3.
    1. I created them as MP4's.
    2. They import to iTunes music folder fine.
    3. They show in iTunes under home videos.
    4. No error during or after sync, but the videos are not there on the iPad. Videos I put on the iPad before iTunes 11 are there (under movies, not home video) and play fine. But if I delete it from the iPad and then try to put it back it is ignored and will not go back onto the iPad.
This worked fine before iTunes 11.

I also found, finally, that selecting "manually manage" for the device on the summary page in iTunes for the helped.

  • How to transfer videos onto iPad from multiple computers?

I have an iPad mini.  Most of the time, I don't use it with a computer, but occasionally, I need to load videos onto it for editing.  I have two comptuers I need to load videos from (work and home).  Do I understand correctly that this is not possible?  I can manage media from multiple computers via iTunes, but it appears that the only way to get videos into the camera roll is to actually sync with iTunes?  And that's can only be done with one computer at a time?  And that changing which computer I use wipes the iPad?
I've tried both Google Drive and Dropbox as well, and while the videos do show up and are playable, there doesn't appear to be any way to get the videos out of either app.  The videos are in MP4 format.
    Any advice?

One work around could be: say you sync with comptuer A, use dropbox to get the videos from B to A, then iTunes to get them from A to your iPad.

  • Importing home videos into Apple TV

I am trying to import my home videos into Apple TV. I have created a video consisting of many clips which are edited together into a coherent whole. This has been saved as an iMovie event. When I try to export this event through Quicktime, all I see are individual clips for import. Where do I find the whole editing video?
    Norman

Try using the Share > iTunes... menu item in iMovie, then sync the movie to Apple TV from iTunes. This is the easiest way of getting an iMovie project onto Apple TV. Is this what you've been doing?

  • Editing imported SD videos on iPad Air

    Hello there,
I am new to the iPad Air and had the idea of transferring videos from an old camera via SD card reader, but wanted to find some way of editing the videos. I rely on YouTube capture for editing and uploading my videos onto YouTube. But for some odd reason I don't have the choice to edit my imported videos but can edit my ios videos, found this slightly frustrating... If there's any way possible to edit my imported videos on an iPad I would highly appreciate some spare assistance.
    SIncerely, Henry David Tetreault

I don't have any to recommend, but look for third party video editing apps.
Just search the app store for 'video editing' and then read the reviews to see which ones look good. SInce I doubt any are free, read the reviews, even google the app to see what others are saying about it (the blurb in iTunes, not surprisingly, always focuses on the good and ideal situations, which may not reflect the reality of using the app)

  • Choppy home video on iPad & iPod Video, but not iPod Touch

I'm trying to create a simple 3-minute home video with Sony Vegas Movie Studio HD 9.0 on my HP Pavilion desktop PC running Vista. I render the edited video as an MP4 file. If I double-click the file, it opens in QuickTime player and plays just fine. If I add it to iTunes, it plays in the iTunes player just fine. If I synch it to my 32Gig iPod touch - just fine.
But on my 2nd Gen 80Gig iPod Video, the video is VERY choppy - one frame every half second or so. On the iPad it's better - but there are a bunch of square artifacts in the frame whenever there's movement in the frame, like swinging your arm from side to side. Is there some way I can... OPTIMIZE this video for the iPad? It'd be a really impressive way of showing off the video. I could burn the video to a DVD and show it on a TV, but the iPad is obviously more portable.
Any advice? Any questions about how I'm rendering the video?
    Dennis

Apple's very own list of specs required of video listed right here:
    http://www.apple.com/ipad/specs/
    Important section:
    TV and video
Support for 1024 by 768 pixels with Dock Connector to VGA Adapter; 576p and 480p with Apple Component AV Cable; 576i and 480i with Apple Composite AV Cable
H.264 video up to 720p, 30 frames per second, Main Profile level 3.1 with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps, 48kHz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats; MPEG-4 video, up to 2.5 Mbps, 640 by 480 pixels, 30 frames per second, Simple Profile with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps, 48kHz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats; Motion JPEG (M-JPEG) up to 35 Mbps, 1280 by 720 pixels, 30 frames per second, audio in ulaw, PCM stereo audio in .avi file format

  • Import home video DVD's into iMovie

I want to import my home video DVD's into iMovie for editing and backup. What is the best way to do this? I have already tried creating a disk image, but somehow when I open these images with iMovie, some parts of the original video are missing. (for example the video on DVD is 60 minutes, but the video opened on iMovie is 50 minutes). I also tried to convert to MPEG 2 using MPEG Streamclip, and purchased the MPEG2 Playback component from Apple Store, but it turns out that this component was intended for earlier versions of OS X, so I could not even install it. I am currently at a lockdown, please help me out!!!

There are directions on the MPEG Streamclip website on how to get the MPEG2 Playback component installed on your computer (I'm assuming your running Mac OS X 10.7). I'm cutting and pasting them here in case someone else runs into the same problems.
    From the MPEG Streamclip homepage
The installer of the MPEG-2 Playback Component may refuse to install the component in Lion. Apple states the component is unnecessary in Lion, however MPEG Streamclip still needs it.
To install the component in Lion, please download MPEG Streamclip 1.9.3b7 beta above; inside the disk image you will find the Utility MPEG2 Component Lion: use it to install the MPEG-2 Playback Component in Lion. The original installer's disk image (QuickTimeMPEG2.dmg) is required.
The current versions of MPEG Streamclip cannot take advantage of the built-in MPEG-2 functionality of Lion. For MPEG-2 files you still need to install the QuickTime MPEG-2 Playback Component, which is not preinstalled in Lion. You don't have to install QuickTime 7.
Also read the information for Snow Leopard below.
Snow Leopard and MPEG-2 Playback Component
The Snow Leopard upgrade DVD released on August 28, 2009 may wipe the content of the /System/Library/QuickTime folder during the upgrade process, and delete your MPEG-2 Playback Component installed in that folder. To use MPEG-2 files with MPEG Streamclip you have to reinstall the MPEG-2 component or restore it from a backup copy.
If you are going to upgrade to Snow Leopard
Open the /System/Library/QuickTime folder and drag the QuickTimeMPEG2.component file to your desktop to make a copy of it. Then upgrade to Snow Leopard. When the upgrade is complete, open the /System/Library/QuickTime folder again and move the QuickTimeMPEG2.component file from the desktop to the /System/Library/QuickTime folder (enter your administrator password if necessary).
If you already upgraded to Snow Leopard
You have to reinstall or restore your MPEG-2 Playback Component.
If you have a Time Machine backup of your System folder, then open the /System/Library/QuickTime folder, enter Time Machine and go back in time until you see the QuickTimeMPEG2.component file; select that file and then click Restore.
If you purchased the MPEG-2 Playback Component from the Apple Online Store, then you probably still have the DMG file that contains the installer. Use Spotlight to search for "QuickTimeMPEG2.dmg": if you find a file with that name, double-click it and then in the disk image, double-click the installer package for Intel Macs.
If you purchased the MPEG-2 Playback Component from the Apple Online Store but you can't find the QuickTimeMPEG2.dmg file, you can download the file again from the Apple Online Store if you remember the Apple ID used when you originally purchased it (if you forgot your Apple ID then go to Apple iforgot). Visit the Apple Online Store, click on "Account" in the store menu, then click "Downloadable Software Purchases," enter your Apple ID and password, and click the link to the QuickTime MPEG-2 Playback Component to download it again.
If you obtained the MPEG-2 Playback Component from the installation of Final Cut Studio, then you can reinstall it again from the Final Cut Studio DVD. Insert the DVD and use the Finder's Go menu > Go To Folder... command to get to the /Volumes/Final Cut Studio/Installer/Packages/ folder inside the DVD. Locate the QuickTimeMPEG2.pkg or the QuickTimeMPEG2Pro.pkg installer: double-click it to reinstall the MPEG-2 component.
