Import settings to new account

Hi guys, my main Win 7 user account has become corrupted, giving me the loop of "Windows Explorer has stopped working and is restarting".
I've created a new user account and am now beginning the process of reinstalling all my software and profiles.
I have followed the instructions provided at https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/Recovering%20important%20data%20from%20an%20old%20profile?e=es&as=aaq
and the files are showing up correctly in my new account but I cannot see any of my bookmarks and the passwords/usernames are not there either.
Since Firefox was causing me issues in my old account I've decided to go with Chrome now. How can I have Chrome use my old settings, passwords, site history and bookmarks from Firefox?
Thanks in advance for advice on how to recover my settings, bookmarks, history and passwords,
Jo

The profile folder is not in AppData\local (that is the cache folder).
You can find the profile folder in AppData\Roaming
C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\<profile>\

My wife was unable, suddenly to login to myspace-getting error msgs:

I was finaly able to resolve the problem by creaying a new account , which works fine but now I need to fix the problem with the old account or import all her stuff into the new account. What's the easiest way to do this?
The login problem was not unique to safari either - had the same problem with firefox. What ever it is it's resolved by creating a new user account but I just can't figure out what it is. Any suggestions?
    Thanks

No I've already tried it in firefox- read the whole post. The problem is fixed when I create a new user account - and then use either of the same 2 browsers( safari or firefox). So.. what are the network/ internet settings that are reset to a default by creating a new user account? These would be settings that are not unique to Safari or Firefox as the problem comes and goes with both browsers when you switch user accounts.
    Does that make sense?

  • Lost all settings for Mail, setting up new account causes Mail to crash

Not sure if this problem is related to a recent archive and install or the recent 10.4.8 update, but a user's email on my G5 apparently lost all her mail, settings, etc. When Mail was clicked on, a series of new account windows appeared, which I filled out with the relevant info, but when i clicked Done, I get the prompt: A keychain cannot be found to store "user's name." It gives me the option to set to default or cancel. When I click on cancel, a summary of all the relevant info appears in a window, but when I attempt to open Mail it always crashes. Not sure where to go from here?
We have another computer (G3) running 10.3.9 with her Mail app working. Is there any way to transfer or import her Mail app to this computer?

Nol longer relevant since updating to Leopard.

When trying to update  Apps in iTunes on my computer my old Apple ID appears, which is no longer in use and has no password; even when I try to create a password for this Old ID, Apple won't let me. When I go into see my Account settings My new Apple ID / iTunes ID are listed and the passwords are correct obviously so why can't I update my Apps?   Why does my Old apple ID keep appearing and how can I get Apple to change this?

I have the same problem - it is maddening. I rely on this iPad for work so this is not just an annoyance! The above solutions of changing the appleid on the device or on the website do not work.
The old email address no longer exists - I haven't used it in a year probably and I no longer have the account.  I logged into the appleid website and there is no trace of the old email address so there is nothing that can be deleted or changed there.  On the iPad there is no trace of the old email address so nothing can be deleted there either. I have updated the iPad software and the same problem comes right back.  Every 2 seconds I am asked to log in using the old non-existent email.  The device is currently useless.
The only recent change to anything was the addition of an Apple TV device, which was set up using the correct login and password.
Does anyone have any ideas? The iPad has been backed up to the iCloud so presumably it now won't recognize the current iCloud account? So restoring may notbe an option?

  • How to burn songs from one itunes account to import into a new itunes acct

I have set up seperate playlists for my children under my itunes account. However, my son is now older and receiving itunes gift cards and we want to set up his own itunes account but don't want to loose the songs we have purchased for him under my itunes account. We want these songs to still be available for him to sync to his ipod so we think we need to burn the songs to a disk so they can then be imported into his new itunes account. He doesn't want to loose track of his itunes money nor do I want him to be able to purchase songs using my itunes acct credit card info without my knowledge, therefore, we think we need to set up a new itunes account for his personal use. Any guidance would be appreciated!

Not necessary. If you want to copy song files to a new computer, copy them to a USB flash drive, and then from the flash drive to the new computer.

He should definitely have his own iTunes library, be it on the shared computer or on his own computer. As for a separate account in the iTunes Store, that is really up to you, depending how the family shares.

  • When I open TB, under "Accounts", it only shows the option "Create a new account". Option: "View settings for this account" is NOT shown.

When I open TB, I no longer see any information about the TB account I've used for years. Instead, the main menu shows only "Accounts" -- "Create a new account - Email, Chat, Newsgroups, Feeds". Option: "View settings for this account" is NOT shown.
Also the main menu does NOT show "Email - Read messages, Write a New Message" or "Advanced features", etc..
The actual emails pertaining to the TB account I've used for years are still present under the "Users --> xxxxyyyy --> AppData --> Roaming --> Thunderbird' folder.

  • How to create a new account and copy all settings?

I think my main user account is corrupted. So I want to create a new account and copy all of my settings, files etc..and more than likely piecemeal just incase my settings are what is corrupted. That way I can isolate the problem.
I don't plan to delete the main account until satisfied and I also have my Time Machine backup plus my SuperDuper backup.
I can/should be able to figure out how to create the new account, but I am very unclear on the best/easiest approach to copy in my iTunes files and settings, applications(is this even an issue), address book, email, etc? I should be able to find most everything underneath my home account folders but what else am I missing here? I don't want to find out the hard way.
Please share some advice or perhaps a link/FAQ on how to approach.
    Thanks in advance.

  • Cannot add a new email account, and hence icloud account. When i go into Settings - Mail, accounts, calendars,  the option to add a new account cannot be clicked (ghosted). I also have iCloud Settings ghosted (unclickable). Cannot change in itunes also.

Cannot add a new email account, and hence i have no way of creating an iCloud account (very frustrating). I had the same problem with iOS 4.3 but i had no email account to create as i set both up when i bought the iPhone 4. After adding a company email and a gmail account (both wok perfectly) i noticed that the option to create more email accounts had been ghosted (unclickable). This didn't worry me at the time. However, iCloud needs me to create one in here so i can access the cloud which i desperately want the ability to do. When i go into Settings -> Mail, accounts, calendars,  the option to add a new account cannot be clicked (ghosted). I also have iCloud in the iPhone Settings ghosted (unclickable). I have same problem in itunes on Mac OSX. Surely restoring isn't the solution as i restored my iphone when changing from iOS 4.3 -> 5. Please help?

    Go to
    Settings,
    General,
Restrictions, type in your Restriction Password,
    Accounts, tick Allow Changes.
Press the back key a few times till you're back in Settings, you should see iCloud is now highlight able, now go to Mail Contacts and Calenders and add your email account as per norm.
    Hope this helps.

  • My old version of outlook express has several problems, will these be imported into a new thunderbird account

My old version of Outlook Express has gained several problems. It is time to change, will these errors be imported into a new Thunderbird account. I'm hoping that all would be well based on the belief that the two programmes are totally different.

You're not saying what problems you have with OE, so how should anyone guess?
There is no such thing as a 'Thunderbird account'. You do have an account with your email provider. You can use OE or Thunderbird to access that account.
But Thunderbird is not your email provider.

  • I am setting up a second gmail account. How do I import bookmarks , contacts from my old to my new account?

my new account is [email protected] and I would like to import the conatcts and the bookmarks to the new account.

'''First of all you should NEVER post your email in a public forum like this. - unless you really enjoy getting spammed, scammed and phished. Very dangerous too, as you open yourself up to password crackers who like to steal personal information from email accounts and use them to attack your contacts as well.'''
    Second, since Gmail is a Google service, this is a question for Google forums - but I can give you part of your answer now;
To transfer your contacts from Gmail to Gmail accounts:
    login to your Gmail account,
    click "contacts".
Then, @ the top right side of the contacts interface, you'll see an "export" option.
Click this and choose whether to export ALL contacts, "my contacts" (or most contacted).
Choose Google CSV if you're transferring to another Gmail account, then export, and be sure to save the file where you can find it from your new account.
Now log in to your new Gmail account,
go to "contacts" again, and choose "import"
Browse to the "csv" file you just saved
Decide if you want the contacts in a new group
then click import, and enter the name of the new group if you chose this.

  • Fill error -50 Can't import over network using new account

login as admin and can import music from my PC over wireless net (I just tried it). I set up a new account which is also administrator. As far as I can tell the two accounts are identical. I am leaving the files in their original location and not copying them. Tried importing but i get unknown file error -50. When attempting this on new account, prompts are slightly different, tho. It doesn't prompt me to select from available shares like in original admin account, but i can select network and then available shares manually. I'm using mp3 encoding. Thanks for any help

    Kelly--
Thanks Charlie. tested theory right away. I made
new shared folder right on the root c:/ directory.
Put a song in there with a short name and tried to
import it. Got same error -50. So maybe that's not
    it. Any other ideas?
What happens if you don't use iTunes, but just try to copy a file from the Windows share using the Finder? If you still can't copy from the one account, then it's a matter of how the Windows file sharing is set up in that account.
That error is a pretty general one, and what you're doing involves so many parts of the OS, from networking to authentication, to QuickTime, that anything you can do to narrow it down will help.
Can you describe in more detail the process you are going through to access the songs on your PC from both accounts? The more detail, the better...
Remember,... i can import these same files from same
folders (so, long filename and path isn't and issue
here) from another account on this mac.
That points to a setting that's different between accounts. Unfortunately, because of that nature of the error, until you can really narrow it down, it's going to be kind of tough to figure out why this error occurs.

  • I have changed settings on my email account with my provider, but in order to activate the address they instructed me to delete my account and add a new account with the same email address. Will this delete my all my email history? Any advise please?

I have an OS X 10.6.8 and have had problems with my mail. I have changed my account settings with my mail provider, but they suggest I now delete my account and add a new account with the same email address. Will this delete my email history? Can anyone please advise?

I have the same problem as the emails go to my iCloud account that I cannot access!!! I cannot answer the security questions as someone else must have set up my iCloud account. Nothing seems to work. It would be great if someone has some ideas as what can be done to recover the situation?

  • Manualy configure new account, Where are settings.

    Downloaded Thunderbird yesterday.
I need to manually configure a new account for my new (own domain) email address hosted by a hosting company. For this your instructions say something like - Go to settings & select manual entry.
The Settings tab does not exist. You cant select to manually enter details.
The automatic entry makes a mess of the settings.
After the automatic entry, by fiddling about I found a way of editing some (not all) of the settings but I still cant make it download my inbox & imap folders.
Is the settings tab (for manual entry) hiding somewhere in the latest Thunderbird version?. Please Advise.

The wizard gets it wrong, I get that. So you correct the information in the wizard and test again and it should work. So please tel me what setting your need that is not available.

  • What happens to VPN , Wifi settings and Email accounts on iPad if synced with a new computer and itunes account?

I have an Ipad with VPN,Wifi connections and email accounts already created . Now I want to sync it with another computer using a new account as this device is to be given to someone else. I want to know what will happen to the settings already made as I do not want them to change ?. Deletion of Apps and other media files is ok but the settings like VPN,Email account and Wi Fi shoudl not be reset.

    Wickedweapon-
Pre-installed Apps such as Mail, Camera, Photo Booth, Notes, et cetera, are kept.  Any iOS updates are retained.  Otherwise, the iPad is returned to its factory default settings.
If you planned to sell an iPad, you might go ahead and do the reset manually.  Go to Settings-General-Reset-Erase All Content and Settings.  Doing this would ensure that any sensitive personal data is erased.
