Imported text caption objects cause errors

I imported objects only from a similar Captivate project.
When I tried to edit the text captions, I would double click the
text caption and nothing would happen. Then I would get a blank
gray screen of death before the application would crash. This never
happened before, so I'm at a loss.

I was able to get past this issue by logging in to the client 000 and
activate the object WFMFC_INDTOR_GRP from transaction SE11.
Dictionary Object --> Activate from the menu bar. Gave me few warnings
but did not error out.
Hence went past the phase and the upgrade is progressing as of now.
However, can you please confirm if this is a correct fix or do you want
me to do anything different since I have not reached the MODPROF_TRANS
phase yet.

Cannot create a hyperlink in a text caption

The Captivate 7 User Guide says:
"Select the phrase or word you want to hyperlink. You can hyperlink text in text captions or drawing objects.
2. Click in the Format accordion of the Property Inspector and specify one of the options in the Link To list. For the description of the
options"
In the Format accordion, there is no "Link To list."
There is a set of images beside Insert, one of which represents "Insert Hyperlink." However, when you have text selected in a text caption, that icon is disabled--grayed out and unclickable. It is also disabled when you single click the text-caption object and then open the Property Inspector. The "Insert Hyperlink" icon is only enabled when you open the Property Inspector for the text caption by double-clicking the text-caption object, with no text selected--however, when you then click the "Insert Hyperlink" icon, it tells you that you must select text. Catch-22.
Does anyone know how to create a hyperlink on some text?
Also: Does that first sentence quoted from the Captivate 7 UG mean that you can in theory create a hyperlink with a drawing object? I can't see how.

Yes, Lieve, I can see how entering a Shape into the equation would get me the possibility of a hyperlink. I'm not sure I know how to use the Success action you are describing, though. Do you mean that upon successfully clicking the TEB, Show the Shape (which is set as a button, and on sucessfully clicking the button the URL is opened?) If I am right, using this approach would always require the learner to open the url, whether they got the TEB correct or not.
The workaround that I came up with was to place a click box on top of my failure caption location, and set it to open the url I wanted them to copy and paste into the TEB. (Caption reads: "Please click here to open the URL and then copy and paste it into the field above." In this case, only a failure to enter the correct information would yield the requirement to click through to the correct URL.

Code 91 - Caused Error: (Object variable or With block variable not set)

We are using FDM 9.3.1. We have enabled batch processing.
We are having following process being followed
- Batch Loader script will pull the data from dwh table for each entity, scenario, year and period
- Batch processing is set to serial and processlevel set to Up-To-Check
- We had following five files created for Location - EMAFF100
i. 1_EMAFF100_ACT_May-2011_RR.txt
ii. 1_EMAFF100_ACT_Jun-2011_RR.txt
iii. 1_EMAFF100_ACT_Jul-2011_RR.txt
iv. 1_EMAFF100_ACT_Aug-2011_RR.txt
v. 1_EMAFF100_ACT_Sep-2011_RR.txt
Batch loader process completed the processing for May - 2011, Jul - 2011, Aug-2011, Sep-2011.
But for Jun 2011 it has given the following error in the 'tbatchinformation' table and failed at import stage.

We then re submitted data for Jun period and saw batch process got successfully completed and June data got imported successfully and also rest other processes got through.
Can any one provide exact cause for this error? As we have automated the data load from DWH to FDM And then to HFM. Hence when such error comes it disturbs lot of processing there on. Appreciate your early response.

At my site, BPC Excel created this problem too "Object Variable or With Block Variable not set" .
It turned out that this is symptom of a a dys-functioning BPC COM Plug-in in XL2007 or XL2010!
This is a consequence that your Excel recently crashed while using BPC. And it relates to an Excel Add-in becoming disabled when the applications crashes. Please check the following.
Note before doing the following, close all other open Excel and BPC sessions.
Within Excel go to File à Options
Select the Add-Ins option on the left
Select the <<COM Add-ins >> option in the Manage drop down, and click Go
Make sure that the Planning and Consolidation option is selected. If not, mark this box and click OK.
If you do not see anything listed, return to the Add-in screen and select the Disabled Items option, and see if Planning and Consolidation is listed there.

Text Caption Boxes on imported PowerPoint slides

I have imported a number of PowerPoint slides (with an image)
into a Captivate movie. Text is needed on these slides so
originally I created the text on the PPT slides, but when imported
into Captivate the text formatting and spacing was all messed up.
So, I had to reimport those PPT slides with no text. After
reimporting, I used Text Caption Boxes to enter the text onto those
PPT slides. When published, those text boxes display small white
boxes (white is the text color) everywhere I used the space bar in
the text boxes (after a bullet, etc.) The white boxes do not show
when previewing or editing in Captivate.
Is there a way to get rid of those boxes or does anyone know
of any other solution?

You're welcome. And speaking of "thanks", I have copied the
"fix" for the Transparent Caption Style bug from the guy who has
been a great friend and the best source of real intelligence in the
Captivate "expert" community, Paul Dewhurst. Paul deserves the real
"Thanks" for discovering the cure for this irritation ... his
solution is as follows - and I quote:

Default Text Frame Object Style on Import

Hello all,
My dilemma is this: I have formatted my Basic Text Frame in the Object Styles palette. But when I import text, either by dragging and dropping or using File > Import, the text frame is created with an Object Style of None. If I simply draw a text box, it is correctly created with an Object Style of Basic Text Frame.
What I want to have happen is that my imported text is created in a text box with the Object Style set as Basic Text Frame.
Been all over Google, and I can't find the answer. What am I doing wrong?

I am having to design for something that is then going to have a 3 whole punch so the inside needs more spacing than the outside.
I thought the right way to do it would be to use insets for the spacing rather than just making the text box smaller within the print area. Later on there will be images and other objects but at the moment just putting the text in and getting it set up first.
The reason for the asymetrical insets is because with the extra space given for the 3 hole punch there doesn't need to be as much space given as on the outside.
Now having said all of that i could be wrong about how i'm going about it, it's just what seems like the logical way to go about it without 'hacking' the design to make it work.

Adding itemCreationPolicy="immediate" on mx:Panel causes null object reference error in Flex 4.x

The itemCreationPolicy works fine with spark components and other mx component until we hit by mx panel.
Looks like an error is thrown from StyleProtoChain.
The interesting thing is the null object reference error both occurs in Flex 4.0 and Flex 4.1, but caused by different objects.
Is there a workaround to use itemCreationPolicy on mx panel?

Yes, there are all kinds of problems when you remove something from the screen that had focus (for instance, at that point you can't capture keyboard events either).
My code is sprinkled with so many things to make sure something is in focus, I tend to forget that I've done it.
In your code that changes the currentState, add
this.setFocus()

Multiple web services on single server causing object undefined errors

Hi,
I've currently got a bit of a strange problem within a web service that is proving difficult to debug.
There are the web service urls :
     api.domain.com                -> /var/www/html/api.domain.com/            -> CF mapping to MYSERVICE
     testapi.domain.com          -> /var/www/html/testapi.domain.com/     -> CF mapping to MYSERVICE_test
In both instances the cfcs that contain the code to be translated into a WSDL reside in /api/..., in the case of this example, /api/common.cfc. wsargs constists simply of refreshwsdl true.
If I call the following 2 lines ...
     obj_myservice = CreateObject('webservice','http://api.domain.com/api/common.cfc?wsdl',wsargs);
     obj_myservice_test = CreateObject('webservice','http://testapi.domain.com/api/common.cfc?wsdl',wsargs);
I then call the same method in both, and they are successful. When checking the "Data & Services" -> "Web Services" panel within the CF control panel, only the web service "http://api.domain.com/api/common.cfc?wsdl" is listed, and not testapi.domain.com......
If I reverse the order in which the WSDL's are loaded then this switches, and testapi.domain.com..... gets listed under "Web Services" but api.domain.com..... does not. In essence it appears as though for some reason the CF server overwrites one with the other. The exact "object undefined" error is proving difficult to reproduce reliably.
This appears to happen no matter which server is accessing the web service, be it the same server or a remote server. All servers involved are running CF8. Accessing the 2 WSDL files in a browser results in the 2 WSDLs being rendered correctly with different namespace values.
On the same server are 2 more services
     MYSERVICE2
     MYSERVICE2_test
These reside in the /api2 directories on the same 2 subdomains, api. and testapi.   MYSERVICE2 and MYSERVICE2_test appear to conflict with each other. MYSERVICE and MYSERVICE_test appear to conflict with each other. MYSERVICE and MYSERVICE2 do not appear to conflict with each other.
Is there a configuration change or anything like that which I should be aware of that would prevent me doing the above? The 2 /api/ directories are nearly identical with the exception that the namespace and complex type names have been set to http://api.domain.com & MYSERVICE in the first, and http://testapi.domain.com & MYSERVICE_test in the second url.
I have also tried mapping /MYSERVICE and /MYSERVICE_test within /opt/coldfusion8/WEB-INF/jrun-web.xml to no avail.
Any help would be appreciated. If there is any useful information that I have missed off please let me know and I'll dig it out.

The script errors on the third, when it attempts to call a method from devtest. On the server on which this test script is running, by the end of this, there are the following 2 web services in the Coldfusion control panel :

I have a second test script (TEST2) on a second server distinctfrom the first test script server, on which the following is performed :

How to change "Object Causes Wrap" and a "Picture Frame" as a default properties when importing images in Autor

When I place images in iBook Author, they are automatically assigned these properties: "Object Causes Wrap" and a "Picture Frame" stroke.
I don't want that and couldn't find where can I change it in the Preferences. Anyone has an idea?

It would be great if I could be able to change it in the Preferences to "No wrap" and "No Frame" so I don't have to manually adjust every single image of my book - there are lots of them.
It would be really nice if Author implements "Layer's" concept like almost all graphic programs like Photoshop, Flash, Illustrator, etc.

Text Caption help

Hello Captivate Gurus,
I am not sure if this is a glitch, but I am trying to include
a transparent text caption and it does not appear when I publish my
project. I have transparent captions throughout the project, so I
am not sure why this particular one does not work. I do have two
animations, 1 JPG, and a button.
My 7-second slide is as followed:
1 JPG that appears on the screen the entire length of the
slide
1 transparent text caption that is supposed to be on the
screen the entire length of the slide (not appearing)
2 text animations (one that is on the screen the entire
length of the slide, and one that appears after 3 seconds)
1 button that moves you to the next slide (appears after 4
seconds and is paused after 1.5 seconds; appears for the remainder
of the slide until someone clicks)
I know that sometimes transparent text captions won't work
with buttons, but in my case the button doesn't even appear until 4
seconds into the slide. The text caption is supposed to be there
the whole time. Any thoughts?

caption, it comes out looking odd)
The "oddness" you are seeing is probably anti-aliasing. One
way past that is highlighting, as you have seen. Another way is to
press Enter a couple of times after the last line of text. Then
apply a bullet to that last line. Then size the caption so you
don't see the bullet.
I've seen quirky behavior with Captivate 3 and layering. But
yours is the first report I think I've seen where a transparent
caption simply isn't appearing.
Out of curiosity, have you ensured there isn't a Button,
Click Box or Text Entry Box object causing the slide to pause
before the Caption has had a chance to appear?

Text caption visible on slide but not when running project

I am using Captivate v4.
I have one slide of 64 where the text cpation is seen on the slide and runs correctly when using F3 - but when I run the project / F10 the text caption does not appear.
I have copied the slide with this error onto a blank project as i assumed the project might be corrupt - but the same happens on the blank project.
Help please...anyone ?

Not sure what was the cause of the problem - but have fixed it now.
After trying many things, including copying the project onto a new blank Captivate project - none of which worked, I did the following and the problem was fixed.
Working on the original project and the slide with the error - I removed the text caption that was not working (for the nth time) and thought I would try one more time to put the text caption back using a different font.....
When I opened the text caption option I noticed there are "two" options for the transparent text caption one above the line and one below, see below;
I selected the transparent option below the line...and it worked OK.
Have to assume that the ones above the line are the most recently used, and I must have been using this one without noticing which one I was selecting - and there was something wrong with the one above the line.
Staring to think I need to upgrade to v5.5 - but not convinced it is the right thing to do.

it's a Javascript error, cuz it's calling these 2 methods when the page loads...

Where are these methods defined? Cuz I don't see any inline Javascript, nor a linked script.
I hope you don't think that those onload functions are going to call Java code defined in the JSP page or something, cuz... well, they aren't.

Requesting BASELINE_EXTENDED profile in air 3.9 or 4.0 causes error

causes error "Error #2008: Parameter profile must be one of the accepted values." if app is compiled for desktop with air sdk 3.9 or air sdk 4.0 beta (didn't tried another sdk's). Compiling for web works fine. So what is this error? Where can I find information?
