Importing Album Art

Up until the latest up-date 9.2.1(5) for OS X 10.4.11 I have been able to import a .JPG file to play lists created from ROIO files from peer-to-peer sources. I.e. I have imported the .wav files to iTunes and using "File>Get Info" could drag a .JPG file into the art box. Now I consistently get the message "album art not modifiable". What's up with this? Not good, not good at all.

I got this from another user, but it works wonders.
Go to Amazon, type in your search term in the Popular Music category. Locate the album you're looking for. Click the album cover image, which usually brings up a higher-resolution image. Right-click, hit Copy. In iTunes, right-click the song, then Get Info > Artwork, and hit Paste. Mission accomplished. You can actually select all the songs in the album and then go to Get Info > Artwork and it will add the artwork to all the songs. I hope this works for you. Good Luck!!

  • Cannot import album art since new Itunes version

Since last update, I can no longer import picture files of any type as album art.  Any thoughts?  The file comes in as a black background.

I am having the same issue. If I close itunes and open with a new CD already in the drive, it will find it. But once that CD has been imported and ejected, itunes does not find the newly inserted CD and there is no command to tell itunes to "look" in the CD drive

  • Painless way to import album art?

I have a big folder of songs, and most of them have album art. When i play them on windows media player it displays the album art but when i import the song into itunes the album art doesnt come with it. I can see the album art if i unhide system files and then manually add it to the song in itunes. Im wondering if there is a way to automatically do this. The only way album is automatically improted is when you buy the song off itunes. I can rip a cd on WMP and it will get the album art but if i rip it on Itunes it doesnt get the album art. Is there a program or an option so that i can get this to work? Thanks in advance!

    Try this program: http://www.yvg.com/itunesartimporter.shtml

  • Importing Album art work

I have a large CD collection and have imported 332 albums into i-tunes. When you insert the CD, the track names are imported from the Gracenotes data base, but the artwork is not.
Apart from going to amazon and cutting and pasting each one individually, is there a programme I can use or online database I can access to do this for me?
I also use a Sonus system to play my iTunes files all around the house, and this would be able to access the artwork if there was any.

Not sure what is available for Windows.
I use a widget to get my artwork.

  • Album Art Importing Question

Is there an easy way to import album art for cds I've loaded into my computer? There is a widget that imports art, although you have to manually type in every song. Is there a way to automatically do this?

There are lots of scripts and applications that can find artwork.
    To name a few:
Clutter, iTunesCool, Corripio, Find Album Artwork with Google
You may find more on versiontracker.com.
Clutter was my favorite, but recently I've been using Corripio with a higher success rate.
It's still in development (version 0.4.5) but looks promising.
    Hope this helps.

  • Corrupted Album Art on Import

Hey everyone, I've been getting an odd problem with the latest version of iTunes.
Sometimes, when I import album art, a small strip of the image, maybe 5-10 pixels wide, is cut from the right edge of the picture and moved to the left.
I can confirm this isn't a problem with the picture itself, and nor does it happen on every set of images. It's fairly random.
Anyone heard of this? If need be, I can submit some screenshots, but it's pretty self explanatory.

Somebody else just posted about this, with screenshots.
It's easy to figure out if it's a library database problem or not.
Rather than irretrieveably deleting your original library, it might be better to try this in a guest windows account. That will leave your original library alone.
Just enable the windows guest account and start itunes.
First task is then to make SURE you have the itunes preference > advanced tab set so that it will NOT copy files to itunes folder when adding. If you have that box checked it will copy all your files when you add them and use up too much hard disk space.
Then add your itunes music folder (from your normal winders user login) and see if the artwork is still messed up.

  • Is there a way of getting album art on to itunes for CD's I already own?

If I buy an album from the music store, it gives me the artwork. However, if I'm just putting a CD onto Itunes, it will find all the track details but not the artwork. Not a big issue, but is there any way to get round this?
    Compaq - pressario   Windows XP

I use 'iTunes Art Importer' (Google it) - a nice little program that will search and import album art from Amazon automatically.
Just be aware that your MP3 file size will increase because the jpeg is embedded in it and the larger the jpeg, the larger the increase.
I think iTunes Art Importer selects suitably small thumbnails.

  • Album Art Visualizer-like Jewelcase but able to handle 2 pieces of art/song

Can anyone point me toward an Album Art Visualizer that can show FRONT AND BACK album art? (ie: for songs to which you've attached 2 pieces of album art, rather than just one.)
Most "album art" shareware is designed to import album art, but I am not interested in importing. I am interested specifically in ALBUM ART VISUALIZERS -- such as JEWELCASE 1.8 by Optical Alchemy. Most "visualizers" show trippy stuff, which is fine, but I'm interested in visualizers that show the relevant album art that you've taken the pains to attach to your song files in iTunes(!)
Note that Jewelcase is *unbelieveably great*, but it could be improved upon. (Yes, I've donated to the tip jar, and I've mentioned these ideas to the designers, and I'm sure they have more lucrative things to try to do with their time-- since Apple has inexplicably NOT purchased Jewelcase's technology from Audio Alchemy -- something that would, for the legions of iTunes users worldwide, mark such a huge visual improvement over the current iTunes, that the point cannot be overstated).
Has anyone seen anything else that either uses the iTunes Visualizer section to visualize your album artwork -OR- that shows the album art & song info in a different window -- either way -- but, in a manner that is in the same league of quality as Jewelcase? (Or even close, or even pretty neat?)
Again, I am looking for ALTERNATIVES TO JEWELCASE, but also I am looking for a program that improves upon Jewelcase, in terms of:
    1) showing not just the one "first" piece of album art associated with each song (as the "front" album art), but that also has the ability to show the "second" piece of album art associated with the song -- as the "back" album art; and:
    2) visually presenting, along with "Artist" and "Album", more song tag data -- SPECIFICALLY "YEAR".
Note that there are a couple of shareware programs that give you a small window with merely a small 1" by 1" (?) display of the album art next to the Artist/Time info. That is fine, but I am looking for something that displays the art at much larger sizes, like up to 10" by 10" on your screen (like Jewelcase 1.8 does), while you are playing your playlists/shuffling through your songs. This can make for a magnificent Album Art Slideshow, by the way.
Basically, I'm very fond of Jewelcase, but would like to know if anyone has seen any other such GREAT visualizers of album art. NOTE: My iTunes album art is complete/done, and I want to steer very clear of any "album art" shareware that just so happens to come with automatic album art scripts that will try to import some dang JPEGs from someplace.

  • How to Add Album Art to Multiple Songs Same Time?

I have many scenarios where 60-70 songs will share the same imported album art. Is there a method to add the art to the bulk of songs all at the same time. Similar to the multiple item entry field?
    Thanks!

Is there a method to add the art to the bulk of songs all at the same time. Similar to the multiple item entry field?
You do it exactlky the same.
Select all teh songs you want, right click - get info.
Tick the box next to Artwork and drag or paste artwork into the box.
-> iTunes: How to add artwork to songs and videos in your library

  • More album art?

Is there a way to possibly import album art from elsewhere, like scanning the CD cover and importing it or getting it from another site because quite a few of my albums don't have pictures and aren't showing up when I do an iTunes music store search.
    The ones I'm looking for:
The Lord of the Rings - the Two Towers (I'm shocked that it's not there)
    Newsies (musical
Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat (Andrew Lloyd Weber musical)
    The Prince of Egypt soundtrack
    Anastasia Soundtrack
Scarlet Pimpernel soundtrack - found it but it won't show up)
    The Best of Don McLean
    and two Spanish Albums:
    Canta al Senor
    Exitos de Siempre

Yes me too. I have searched the www and found so many different stories but acknowledgement by Apple. Was it a legal license issue? Did they switch database providers and it is a matter of time to iron out some wrinkles? Strangely some of my iTunes 8 artwork which was correct (Michael Jackson--Number Ones) has now been changed to some artist and cover artwork which is not accurate. Others that were previously present from downloading are now removed and unavailable. Fine but why did upgrade delete all my playlists? Bulletin boards are full of complaints and problems but no solutions. Where is Apple on this issue? Even if problems can not be avoided or fixed immediately some posting or acknowledgement and solutions in the works would be encouraging. At a time when Windows 7 is coming out this is not good P.R. Apple.

  • What's the best resolution for album art?

I have encountered some 500x500 album art images that don't fill the album art box, and some 200x200 album art image that do completely fill the box. So I assume that there's more to importing album art than just pixel counts.
That leaves pixel density, or resolution. What should the proper resolution be for a 500x500 pixel album art image? Anything else I'm missing?
    Thanks. WeedMonkey

72 pixels per inch is usually the default and I find this works reasonably well, although if you want high-detailed covers I'd go for something like 144 or even 200PPI. I get all of my album art from www.7digital.com and save the 350x350 images. I find they are just the right size for Cover Flow and on my iPod.

  • Amazon Album art widget no longer working.

Always have had great success with the Amazon Album art widget.  Now nothing anytime I try to import album
art into iTunes. Running iTunes 10.5.3.  Deleted widget I had on dashboard.  Then downloaded again the widget,
still nothing.  Just always get "no results found".  Anyone else experiencing this?

having the same problem... and yes, no contact info for the developer's website... it WAS an awesome widget for those files for which itunes didn't have the art work (which in my case was A LOT).
anyone know of another widget that does the same thing??

  • Album art media sync issues 8520

When I first done a media sync my BB 8520 showed all the album art on every album.  I have since done another sync with new albums I have purchased and now the album art only shows on the latest updated albums.
I'm not sure why this has done it but my wife has the problem on the same model.  I can live without the album art but it bugs me as it was there before and now its gone.  Just wondered if anyone could solve my problem.

I encountered the same problem, found your question and a solution that works for me: Start BBDM, Media, Media Sync, options, import album art, OK. Now sync your berry.

  • Album Art is total screwed up

I have upgraded to 7.0.1. Yet the album art issue remains.
First of all, iTunes Store in some cases treats each single song in a single album as individual album, under the album view.
Second, my music library contains songs I imported from my CD collection. Although I can see a folder for the imported album art, somehow the album art does not get imported into iTunes.
Apple really needs to address this issue. I thought the album scrolling view is fantastic. But without album arts, the feature is useless.
