Importing AOL Address Book/Contact List into Apple Mail Program

This is probably an old and already answered queation, but it has just come up for me. Does anyone know how to export the AOL Address Book/Contact List so it can be imported into the Apple Mail Program? I would like not to have to reinter all the address when I drop AOL.

The AOL Service Assistant works fine for transfering the AOL contacts to the Apple Address Book. However, I was unable to get the AOL favorites to tansfer to Safari. It keeps hanging up with the rotating basketball. Any further suggestions?

Relax. Your address book database is corrupted.
If you are syncing your Contacts with MobileMe or something else, disable it for now.
Backup your address book by going to File>Export>Address Book Archive.
    Quit Address Book.
Open your Library by holding down the Option (alt) key while selecting the Go menu in Finder. Select Library. Navigate into your Application Support/AddressBook folder and delete the addressbook-v22.abcddb file.
Open Address Book. It will recreate the database from the raw data.
See how that works. If it is ok, then reenable syncing and see how that works.

How do i import my address book from PC to Apple?
    Thanks

With many applications it's just a matter of dragging the file that has all the addresses into the address book. If for some reason that doesn't work you can use the import function of the address book. If you happen to have them in Outlook here is one way:

Open a Write window and press F9 to toggle the Contact Sidebar on and off.
You can also turn it on from the View menu in the Write window.

  • How do I import my Mountain Lion Contacts list into Maverick

I updated my Macbook Pro from Mountain Lion to Mavericks and I was able to get everything working except the contacts list.  In Mountain Lion I had my contacts listed populated but my Maverick contacts list is empty.  For some reason the updated system no longer finds the contacts list which was used in Mountain Lion but it must be on the disk somewhere.  Where do I find it and how do I get the Maverick Contact application to read OR import the Mountain Lion Contact list?  (I do have a time machine backup).

    Megan,
Do a Mail Merge from AddressBook to a Pages Document. The User Guide has details on doing the merge.
After you get the merged document, there will be only one contact per page, but that's easy to fix by doing a search and replace to get rid of the Section Breaks.

  • Syncing address book contacts list to family using iCloud

As former mobileme family pack users, we could share all contacts stored on our Mac's address book between all 4 of our iOS devices in the family.
Since upgrading to iCloud we are only getting contacts from our individual accounts, is there a way to share them like mobileme could?

I read that there is a way to share an address book on multiple iOS devices, even if each person with thier iOS device has thier own iCloud account. It turns out  it is possible to add another, ie. more than one, iCloud account to an iOS device. I think then that one iCloud account would have the master Address book.
I haven't tried it yet.  It looks like you can do that through <settings><Mail,Contacts,Calendars><add account> and select an iCloud account.  Then you can go into <settings><iCloud> and manage which items from that iCloud account sync.  The only thing I haven't figured out is if you can do it on multiple Macs as well - my wife and I each have our own MacBook Pros.

I just looked in Address book preferences on my mac and it looks like you could add another iCloud account there as well. Tomorrow I'm picking up an iPhone 4s for my wife and will set up an iCloud account for her and do some playing around to see what works.

  • Address Book Contact List Separator/Header

    Hello all,
This one is a bit hard to explain but I will give it a shot.
When logged into my mobile me account, my contacts list is split into smaller lists by a letter separator/header. For example, everybody with a last name that starts with "A" is in the "A" section. Everybody that has a last name that starts with the letter "B" is in the "B" section. Etc, etc...
Is there any way to get that separation in the Address Book application itself? It is very handy in finding someone in the middle of my address book but looks to be only available on the mobile me website maybe?
    Thanks!
    Ian

You could I suppose make Address Book groups, one for each letter of the alphabet, and put your contacts into the appropriate groups. However, if I am looking for someone in Address Book I find it simplest to just start typing their name in the search box.

  • Exporting Filemaker lists into Apple Mail/Contacts

I wold love to make more use of Mail, in turn, my iPod's "contacts" feature. But all of our contact library is in Filemaker. Anyone know of a utility or app out there that will handle this? Otherwise, I foresee a compliated export/import process. -- David in Kansas City

    Hi, welcome to the discussions.
Apple Mail's contacts come from the Address Book application. There are a number of ways. If you are not using .Mac to sync, open Address Book on the Mac that contains your contacts and highlight All. Go to the toolbar and choose File/Export GroupvCard. Export it to your desktop, and then you can use Bluetooth File Transfer to send it to your other Mac, or save the file to an external drive and transfer it. Save the file to the desktop of the other Mac and open Address Book. Go to the toolbar and choose File/Import/vCards, and select the file you created. It will import all your contacts.

  • Merge (import?) Address Book Contacts (Exchange acct) to main group on ipho

It seems that I have Three main contact groups in the address book on my iPhone. One is sourced from an old exchange account (that is still active), but I would like to either import these or merge them into the main group (which is synched with Mobile Me). I use Entourage as an Exchange client on my Mac, and I believe that the hosted Exchange server runs Exchange 2004.
Please help! I would like to purge my phone of all Exchange interactions.

You cannot, on the phone at least. Exchange contacts are kept separate from other contacts. You'd need to export them some other way (e.g. by accessing the Exchange account in Entourage), and import them into Address Book/MobileMe.

Short answer is you can't. Print them out from your desktop organizer.

  • Address Book contact list display

The issue is not Lion exclusive but a general Address Book "feature" The contacts categorizing by the first letter finishes with Z, i.e. it works only for the English alphabet. All contacts in Russian go under "#" category which is extremely inconvenient when using the app both on a laptop and a phone
Is there any known fix for this "feature"? Or maybe it's possible to suggest to the developers to fix the problem?
Thank you very much for any hints!
