Importing audio question

I've imported some audio tracks to my rushes in an established Event but can't hear the sound when I play it. All the other audio. And video is fine. Anybody have an idea what's wrong and what I can do to put it right?

Need more information. Specs of the media. Channel configuration. Are the meters moving?

  • Power Point Import Audio Question

When I import a Power Point with audio the audio plays in my captivate file but does not appear in the library nor in the audio management area, and I can not find the audio file anywhere within captivate. Any ideas?

Can you see in the center of the slide where it gives you the
animation or click box properties, like "Click Box (646x484)"? If
you drag the right edge of the slide you will see that there are
two layers - one is a click box layer and one is an animation
layer. Also, make sure your timeline is fully expanded at the top
of the editing window - you should be able to see separate items
for audio, click box, animation and anything else you have on the
slide. If you don't see that, then click on the right pointing
arrow next to the "timeline" caption to expand the view of the
    timeline. Good luck!

  • Follow up question. importing audio

    Hello,
thanks to all that responded to my question about importing audio from itunes to FCP5. I finally got it onto my timeline, but before I did that I burned it to a cd, and used that to import it to FCP. Probably more steps than necessary, but I finally was able to get into the timeline that way. THE PROBLEM HOWEVER, is that the audio sounds scratchy, or slightly staticy (wierd word) I burned it in 48kHz and 16 bit AIFF,as you all recommended, but it still sounds crappy. Anymore suggestions?? Could disc space be the problem?
I have a huge project going and only about 10 gigs of space
    THANKS,
    Jen

When you buy a song, or a CD, you bought the right to listen to that song to your hearts content. Make as many copies as you want, but only for YOU. Your song. Play it at a party..fine.
But put marry that song with video, and you have entered new territory. To do that you need to buy additional rights. Just like you'd need to buy rights if you play music at a wedding, or play music for people to listen to when they are on HOLD at your business.
Adding it to family video is "technically" illegal. Will the FBI hunt you down...well, after the government went after a lady for owing $1.16 in taxes by siezing her house, I wouldn't be surprised.

: how can I import mp3s from my gmail account into my iTunes application so that I can import audio for recording into GarageBand ?

Save the file from Gmail onto your computer and add it to iTunes.  How you save from Gmail is a Gmail question (their own support pages), not an iTunes question.

  • Import Audio Files Into iPhoto

This is really a 2 part question.
I have been recording a few sound clips with a small digital pocket recorder that are family stories like "Remeber when Aunt Mildred lost her teeth?" etc. So far the only way I have found to get them into the Mac is as a Quick Time movie. It works. Naturally if there is a better way I'm interested. So the first question is: What are the ways to import small sound clips (Garage Band is my least favorite option).
On a regular QT movie, I can import them into iPhoto. But iPhoto refuses to import audio only movies. Having these in iPhoto would let me catalog these sound files in iPhoto along with the other photos and other digital camera short movies. So the second question is: How can I import sound clips into iPhoto?
By the way, setting "Open With" in the information viewer of a file [Command I] to open with iTunes get these clips into iTunes just fine. Why not a movie into iPhoto?
Has anybody else crossed this bidge before?

There are various apps that might help with working with these sound files. What format does your recorder use. Personally I use Audacity as a sound editor (http://audacity.sourceforge.net/) it's Open Source. For capturing sound that's otherwise difficult to get I use Audio Hijack (http://www.rogueamoeba.com).
When QT saves the files they are saved as .mov files, and while the Finder calls them QucikTime Movies, they are not, and iPhoto will not import them unless they have a video element. Of course, they import perfectly into iTunes.
    Some suggested solutions:
Make slide shows of Aunt Mildred, and for a soundtrack use the story of unfortunate teeth, simply by pointing to the relevant track in iTunes.
Make a movie. If you have quicktime pro it's quite easy and fast to paste some pics of Aunt Mildred to the Soundtrack. It's a little slower - but you have more options - to do it with iMovie or with PhotoToMovie (www.http://www.lqgraphics.com)
But in any event, it's only by having a movie that iPhoto will wok with the files.

  • Help Importing Audio Files

How does one set the settings for importing audio so that when you import a file, it automatically imports it to the very next sample of the last import (i.e. so that the is no space, empty samples, between the two files).
I know you can do this by dragging, but I have a bunch of files in one project and it is fairly tedious to drag each one individually.
    Any ideas?

Your question is a little confusing. Importing audio simply brings it into the audio window of a song / project. You can also drag and drop directly into the arrange window. When you do this, you will be asked to place the files on one track or individual tracks. Usually you will choose individual tracks, but it sounds as though you would want to choose one track.
If what you are doing is dragging the files in one at a time, the way to get them to be lined up with no time between them is to use the key command "tie regions by position change" after you have dragged them in. Select them all, use the key command you have assigned and they will snap into place.

  • How to stop auto play on importing audio/video

I am so sorry to post this question. I've seen it many times around on internet, but it is driving me ABSOLUTELY MAD. After importing audio/video on iTunes (plus copy into iTunesLibrary), the file automatically starts playing. It is annoying me more and more, I can not seem to turn the function off. iTunes seems to be defaulted nowadays to start autoplay after importing music or video into iTunes~?
Please someone, where can I turn this function off????????????
thanx for your help. But honestly, with iTunes I don't expect there is a solution. I hope there will be good software available in future OS-versions.
    Rudi

    Hey tt2 and Chris!
Uhm...you both talk aout the actual folder 'automatic add to iTunes'? So, have to look that up tomorrowmorning. It is an actual folder in my iTunes media folder???
I don't get it. I thought by checking the box in preferences (automatically add to iTunes) that it makes a copy of the file that I wanted to add and place it in my iTunes library. Then I throw away the original which I dragged into iTunes.
So, i understand that is not the way to add files?
But dragging into the folder 'automatically add to iTunes', does that mean that there are more than one copies of a file after adding?  Meaning...one in the 'automatically add to-folder' AND in the library? I only need one file....otherwise I wind up with several duplicates. Just one in iTunes library will do fine for me. There is backup elsewhere for files i need to keep....
But anyway...thanx for the tip.  Will try this tomorrow, search for the automatically add to-folder and let you know!

  • Problem Importing Audio in Vista

When trying to import audio into Captivate 2.0 in Windows
Vista I get the following error
"Unable to decode and import the selected wav/mp3 file"
I check to see if the file might have been curupted, but
plays fine inside of my media player. The thing that gets me is
when I import the audio on my Windows 2K machine, I never get an
error and it the audio is imported with no problem.

Vista is not a supported operating system (OS), so to what
extent that might be the problem is a question-mark to me.
However, not all WAV files are supported in other (supported)
Windows OSs'. Assuming you are importing a WAV file, check to be
sure the WAV file is "PCM" formatted.
NOTE: PCM is one of many formats that fall under the general
"type" of audio file with the extension "WAV", and is the supported
    type for Captivate imports.
Let us know if that helps.

  • Can we import audio into GarageBand?

I'd like to import an MP3 (or any supported format) into a Garageband track.
    Can it be done?

I know this thread was last posted some time ago, but since this still comes up on the google results when asking this question, I thought I'd post the solution here as well:
You CAN import audio into GarageBand on the iPad, though you need a computer to do it. Open iTunes on your Mac or Windows machine, connect the iPad. Open the iPad up, at the top of the screen should be a tab for "Apps". Go there, then scroll down. You should see a list of apps that can share information with a computer (on mine I only have three, GarageBand, Kindle, and Clean Writer). Click on GarageBand and you'll have a chance to add files to the list. Once you've selected the files from your hard drive (i've only tried mp3 files so far), click apply.
When you go into garageband on the iPad, you can create a new track in the multi-track view, tap on the "loops" icon, tap "Audio Files" and you should see all the files you copied over from your PC or Mac. You can then drag them into the timeline. Now you can play along with your own audio.
Here's a video someone else made of the process:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0X80kB4f8O4
I just wish the iPad version of garageband had some more effects. I like to practice with my iPad and my electric bass, and on the PC I can use EQ to "remove" the bass from the original song and playback with my recordings. No EQ on the iPad makes this a bit more difficult. Still a gret product, though.

  • Import audio book to itunes but it won't sync to my ipod

I am at a complete loss. I have been importing audio books from the public library to itunes and then putting them on my ipod for months. All of a sudden the books won't sync to my ipod. Songs work ok, but my audio books don't. The little sync icon spins and the itunes screen says it is updating but it only lasts for a few seconds and the book is not on my ipod. I have done everything I can think of including restoring my ipod back to the original settings which lost everything. I don't know what else to do.

Might you find the answer here?

  • Importing audio from CD-where does it go?

I tried importing audio from a cd tonight for the first time, from within the audio window. Where does the file go? After I quit the song and tried to open again, the file could not be found. I tried importing again. When I put the CD in iTunes opened up and somehow renamed the CD "John Ford Radio"!? Anyway, I figured out that once the file was in the audio window I used the "move" function to copy the file to the song folder.
Is there an easier way to do this?

If you import audio from a CD, it stays on the CD. You probably saw a message something like "Insufficient privileges" which means that the OS recognised that it couldn't write the calculated wave overview back to the CD.
The best method is to copy it to your hard disk and check the Ownerships and Permissions within the Finder info. You need to have Read/Write on any audio file.
Finally, when saving your work, always use Save as Project since that will create a single folder with all your files nicely tucked away.

  • Won't Import Audio

This seems like a very simple thing... but I can't import audio in GarageBand 3.
This is audio that was recorded on another computer (a PC using Adobe Audition, if that matters).
I've tried all different formats: mp3, wav, aiff
    Nothing.
These files play fine in iTunes. I can even play them in GarageBand's Media Browser.
For some reason, when I try to drag-and-drop them into the timeline, nothing happens. (Normally, you get that green "+" sign before you drop the audio.) I don't get an error message. It just does nothing.
    Any ideas?

    do this anyway:

  • Image does not appear when publishing...does it matter where you import audio?

I have an image on my slide and when I preview the slide it appears correctly, when I hit F10 to preview next 5 sldies or publish file it does not appear. I have imported audio to the slide not to an object. I am wondering if this matters? Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you...

Cant really explain this one, but the visible check box was checked... I then unchecked it and checked it again, now it seems to be working.....
Weird, but at least it is working.

  • Pro cs3 not importing audio in avi files

ok it seems for some reason that my cs 3 is not importing audio in my avi files the video channel imports but no audio  anyone know a reason why this is please

AVI is but a "wrapper." This ARTICLE will give you much more background, plus direct you on finding out what is inside that wrapper.
It might be as simple as a setting change, but conversion will likely be the path to take.
Good luck, and let us know what G-Spot (in the article) tells you about that/those file(s).

  • Adobe Presenter 9 and PowerPoint 2013 - Missing Import Audio from PowerPoint button

I am only able to intermitantly use the Import button in Adobe Presenter 9 to Import Audio from PowerPoint. Why would I be able to do it on some presentations but not all? I thought it was an audio conversion issue but even when I convert the audio (when prompted by PowerPoint) it doesn't always allow me to import it.

I have found a solution if the original PowerPoint was a ppt file, follow these steps:
File > Save As a pptx file
Close PowerPoint (this helps with not corrupting the file)
    Re-open the pptx file
    File > Convert
Save with a new file name (this helps with not corrupting the file)
You should now have the Import from Presentation button if you go to the Presenter tab and click the Import button
I have not found a solution for pptx files yet.
