Importing file types?

I am building a CDROM and would like to have varying file
types opening within it. Pdf's, powerpoints, word files etc. What
is the best way to do this. I know about linking to files that are
on the web, but I would like to directly open a file from the CD
and launch it in application e.g. adobe reader.
Any help greatly appreicated

You can also open the file in presentation mode using
baRunProgram and
command line switches.
Or save it from PowerPoint as a .pps file.

  • Problem with import file type setting

Problem with import file type settings - In preferences>general I select "wav encoder" But then going to tools>Create it still says "create mp3 version".

Doublechecking, roy. After making the preferences change, are you leaving the General tab by clicking the OK button down the bottom-right-hand corner of the tab?

  • MDS - How to import File type attribute into MDS entity

    Hello,
Is there a way to import File type (*.jpeg) attribute into MDS entity without accessing mdm.tblFile directly?
    Thank you,
    Mila

The only supported way is WebUI or WCF API.
If you are looking for import file in TSQL, there is no supported way.
There are udpFileSave and udpFileGet can be used to access tblFile table. But after it, it is still difficult to set the file id into member file attribute.

  • Importing File Type Guidance

    Hello,
I’m trying to rip a work DVD into a file, which I can import and work with again in FCE. My first attempt I converted the file from the DVD into a MP4 and FCE did not want to import that one so I converted it into a .MOV file using QT Pro and that did not work either.
My questions are what am I doing wrong? What is the proper way to convert and import this type of file ripped from a DVD and imported into FCE without issues?
I’m not a very experienced FCE user so any detailed help and or explanation would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

    Ray,
Download a copy of MPEG Streamclip (free) and purchase a copy of the Apple QuickTime MPEG2 Playback Component ($20). You need both in order to convert your DVD video for use in FCE. (MPEG Streamclip does the conversion but it needs the QT MPEG2 component.)
In MPEG Streamclip, open the DVD and convert it to QuickTime using either the Apple DV/DVCPRO NTSC Compression or Apple Intermediate Codec. Save the resulting file & import it into FCE. Here's a link to a screenshot of the settings to use in MPEG Streamclip.

  • ITunes 8 moved importing/file type from Advanced to General tab

In iTunes 8, converting from one file format to another is now handled under iTunes Preferences > General > Import Settings button, rather than under the Advanced tab as in previous versions. All the file types are still there.

    Hi there,
The problem here are NOT the WARNINGs but the ERRORs. So basically focus on the ERRORs...
For the ERRORs the solution is in Metalink Note:289606.1 - Pre-Check Fails - Oracle Report Objects Show Red Crosses When Merging a Transport Set within the Dependency Manager.
As for the WARNING, you should also migrate the users and the groups via the OID scripts - ldapsearch & ldapadd.
    I hope it helps...
    Cheers,
    Pedro.

  • Import File Types

    Hey,
I want to edit a video file I have on my PC which is a WMV file. But if I want to edit it on a Mac using FCP i'll probably need a different file type?
So to what video format do I need to convert the WMV so that I will not have a any problems importing the file?

When I need to do it, I use CleanerXL on the PC. It aint cheap and it's a pain to figure out, but it works. I think there's a flip4mac components that will allow you to do the conversion on the mac, but ya gotta pay for that also. Hopefully someone else will pipe up if they know of other solutions.

  • Importable file types

What are the types of files that can be imported into final cut express hd? I have the footage from a couple of shoots on discs and can get them in a variety of formats... Curious as to which format would be best to import into final cut.

DV (DV-25, NTSC or PAL, standard or anamorphic)
    HDV (720p or 1080i)
    iMovieHD projects through version 7
Regarding HDV - during capture (from a camcorder), FCE converts HDV to Apple Intermediate Codec (AIC). If you already have the HDV files on disc, you will need to convert them to AIC yourself before importing them into Final Cut Express. MPEG StreamClip is an excellent utility for converting video to DV or AIC.
If you have video in other formats it is best to convert them to DV or AIC before opening them in FCE. You can get all sorts of video formats to play in FCE however you either won't be able to edit them or they will cause problems when you try to render or export your video.

No. H.264 is a distribution and delivery format. It's not intended for use in a production environment.

  • Can't import pictures I once could  Unrecognized file type

I recently had to reinstall some system software because my computer wouldn't reboot. When I opened up iPhoto 5 nothing was there. I went to a back up and imported the latest Librarty. When I went to import the rest of the photos I got this error message... "The following files could not be imported (they may be an unrecognized file type or the files may not contain vallid data)." All my pictures are the same file type and size and come from the same camera. They all open in the Preview application.

Are they in the iPhoto Library Folder? Because iPhoto wont import pics from the iPhoto Library Folder - a precaution against duplication. Drag them to the desktop and try again.

  • 4.0EA3: File type associations lost - can they be included when importing previous settings please?

    Hi,
I've just noticed that my file type associations have been lost when upgrading from 3.2 to 4.0EA3
Can you ensure that these are included in the imported preferences please?
    thanks

Fixed. The problem for me was my desktop's USB hardware.
I purchased a USB PCI Express card and the problems went away. I still canno get calendar to sync but I understand that is an apple issue. I had read somewhere that some motherboard chipsets are having problems that become evident with iPhone syncing.
I also want to thank Lawrance for all his input and support (another post "Why does iTune say my 16 gig 3G iPhone has 4gig capacity")

  • Import from URL with out knowing the file types

    Hello Gurus,
I am struck in a strange situation, We need to import files through URL , they may be tiff, pdf, word, excel ...
and you dont know the file type until you open the URL,
So i used both ORDIMAGE and ORDDOC for importing, if the import fails in the ORDIMAGE process due to data curropt error , it goes to ORDDOC and the error is taking way too much time to appear.
    1) Is there any way we can find the file type when we open the URL to check if it is a DOC file or Image File.
    2) Is there any way to reduce the time taken to show up the error.
    Thank you

In Your case, you may need finer control that what import provides.
You can also use the uri types to upload the image and extract the mime type from the response. You can do the same for orddoc. orddoc may take a long time to parse since the blob must be scanned.

  • LiveType .ipr won't import into FCP - File type not recognized

LiveType file is greyed out when trying to import into FCP as a Standard File type. If we change Standard File to All Files we get an error stating, "File Error: 1 file recognized, 0 access denied, 1 unknown."
The project and media are on an external FWHD, originally edited on a G5, moved to the G4 FWHD with Media Manager.
We've trashed FCP preference files, repaired permissions, checked ownership of files on the FWHD, created new LT files on the internal drive to no avail.

This is usually two things: In compatible versions of FCP or a missing element that allows the .ipr files to be imported. I have forgotten what the enabler is but it's obviously working on your G5 or you wouldn't be asking the question. If you create a LT file on your G4, can you import it into FCP on the G$?
(You can search the forum for similar problems, it comes up about twice a month.)
That leaves the problem of incompatible copies of FCP. You have not provided that information. FCP is not backwards compatible.

  • Which file types will iPhoto11/iMovie11 import into their libraries?  Which are not imported?

I am moving files from my PC to my Macbook 13' and then importing them into iPhoto11/iMovie11.  Are there file types that will not be imported and therefore should not be removed from their original location after the import?

Sure. iPhoto will import Jpegs and many Raw files. Tiffs, png and many other formats as well
Video: Iphoto will import movs and avis. It won't import AVCHD but iMovie will.
Problem is that that information is useless to you. Why? Because video file are all containers. Not all avis are the same, it all depends on the codec used to create them.

  • Are there any specific codecs or import libraries that will make Premiere 6 use more file types?

Are there any specific codecs or import libraries that will allow Premiere 6 to import more file types?  I'm using Premiere 6 on Windows 7.
It seems that the only kind of file that can be imported in to this version of Premiere are certain types of AVI files... even some types of AVIs will import but then will not appear when placed in the timeline... no MPGs, MP4s, WMVs, or anything else will import at all.
Virtually every file that I need to bring in to Premiere 6 has to be converted to AVI with the H.264 codec first.
    Any help would be helpful.
    digi

    Hi Bill and John,
    Thanks for your replies.
My inquiry isn't as much to do with the AVIs that won't import as it is to do with figuring out the way that I can make MPGs, MP4s, MOVs and WMVs import in to Premiere 6.
The AVIs that do import were converted or created using the H.264 codec.  I do know a little about codecs, but I don't hold the PhD in codecs that is apparently required to completely understand them.
Below is the chart from the Premiere Elements 4 page at this link... http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/402/kb402540.html
So, if I understand correctly, Bill is saying the Premeire Elements 4 is actually newer than Premiere 6 and that the Pr Elements apps will actually import more movie file formats than the regular versions of Premiere and Premiere Pro?... for someone trying to learn about these apps, one must admit that this seems to be reverse logic... this would be saying that Adobe gave the cheaper "consumer" versions of Premiere the ability to work with 3 or 4 more movie file formats than the more expensive "pro-sumer" version of Premiere.

The built-in web browser instruction manual in Premiere 6 shows this statement on the "Importing Clips" page, as shown in my screenshot linked above...
"File format support is provided by plug-in software  modules. Over time, additional or updated file formats may be available  from Adobe or other manufacturers, such as QuickTime."
This indicates that additional file format support can be added to Premiere 6 by "plug-in software modules", and that "over time, additional or updated file formats" were predicted to become available that would be supported by the file format manufacturers, such as Adobe themselves and other manufacturers such as QuickTime.
Since that was written ten years ago or more, there has certainly been the chance for these additional "plug-in software modules" to be developed "over time"... so I'm asking, "Where are they available?"
What I'm saying is, I will do my homework to earn at least my Bachelor's degree in codecs, but more than an education in codecs, I need to find these mysterious, "plug-in software modules" for Premiere 6 that Adobe wrote about and referred to over ten years ago.
Thanks for any clues as to where to locate these "plug-in software modules".
