Importing Fireworks HTML HELP!

When I'm trying to import my Fireworks image/html into
Dreamweaver I'm getting an erroro code (The correct file os not the
correct format. Please select an HTML file which was exported from
Fireworks).
The problem is I AM exporting it from Fireworks. I created a
Nav Bar in fireworks, then exported the HTML and Images. Then in
Dreamweaver I clicked on the insert fireworks HTML. The selected
the file!
WHAT IS UP!!!

Which FW? Which DW?

  • Issues "Importing Fireworks HTML"...

    Howdy!
    I am creating a website in Dreamweaver CS3, and I am currently having some issues importing Fireworks HTML.
    Here's some background information with my project...
    I began with creating an HTML template in dreamweaver. I then created a Fireworks project with an Image Swap and a drop down menu. I then exported the Fireworks project into HTML (which I used the "Use CSS for Popup Menus" option in the export options). After I use the "Import Fireworks HTML" on my Dreamweaver template in Dreamweaver CS3, the popup menus from the fireworks HTML is placed in very odd positions on the template.
    Here are a few pictures to show you what I mean:
    This is the exported Fireworks HTML all by itself, in the correct positioning...
    This is what it looks like after I use the "Import Fireworks HTML" option in Dreamweaver...
    Anyway, in the second picture you can see that I have multiple icons, and these icons also have Fireworks-created popup menus. When I import these separate Fireworks-HTML-created icons individually, it is a non-issue.
    Is there a workaround for this issue? Or is this the first time anybody has seen this??
    Any answers would be greatly appreciated!
    Thanks all!!

  • Import of HTML Help (HHP) in RH10 is without TOC ?

    I import/open a HTML Help (HHP) file in RH10.
    But the result is without the Table of Content (TOC).
    Could anyone tell me how I can solve the problem and get the TOC from the input ?
    (The input strucutre can't support a good automatic creation.)
    Thanks
    Juergen

    I was thinking that the source you have could create a CHM using the Microsoft compiler that would have a TOC. Reverse engineering that should get you the files you need including the TOC and an HHP that does know about it. Of course if the Microsoft compiler will not produce a CHM with a TOC, then the solution will not work.
    It was just another solution as an alternative to the one you have used.

  • Import a html help file.

    Hi
    I have a help file application. At the moment I have a html help that needs to be converted to pdf.
    The current software can convert but none of the images re scale to fit. Hoping adobe DC can import
    and allow easy editing of my current files.

    Hi Tom,
    We have a done many key improvements and enhancements in this area with Acrobat DC.
    Please feel free to try the trial version for 30 days and let us know if that suits your requirements.

  • Import existing HTML Help project

    New to RoboHelp 9 (sigh) - trying to import an existing hhp project but I get the message that the hha file contains an incorrect filepath. Nothing has changed regarding relative filepaths. What am I overlooking?

    Hi DorrianneG and welcome to the RH forums.
    I'm afraid a .hha file is a new one on me. Isn't this some sort of archive file? Do you actually have a .hha file present from where you are importing? Also can I ask why you are trying to open a project from the HHP file? There are implications of doing this. Do you not have access to the other project source files?

  • Can't import/open HTML files in Fireworks CS4

    I'm trying to import/open HTML files into Fireworks CS4 to do some redesigning. I inherited the job of redoing my companies website and we believe the person who created our website created the site using Dreamweaver 8. Unfortunatley that person moved on to a new job across the country and we can't ask him exactly how he created our website.
    When I try to open some of the HTML files in FW I get the message: "Could not open the file....Fireworks could not find an HTML table in this file". Next I tried creating a new, very simple HTML page in Dreamweaver CS4 that contains just a few lines of text and 1graphic (we just bought the CS4 web suite). Again, I get the same error.
    Other files give me a slightly different error message when trying to open them in FW, "The HTML document contains one or more images with absolute web addresses for the source. Fireworks cannot handle these images. --click OK-- (next error message) Could not open the file. Fireworks has encountered a problem with the HTML in this table. Verify that the HTML is valid"... and then it closes and nothing loads into FW. Bummer.
    I've searched on these forums and can't find any solutions to this problem although I found a few people experiencing the same problem.
    Do I need to do something to the Dreamweaver created HTML's to get them to open in FW? Any help would be appreciated.

    Fireworks is a graphics editor that can export code; it is not an HTML/code editor.
    If you have exported HTML from Fireworks, you ought to be able to re-import that, but I would think most people who use Fireworks exported code would just modify their Fireworks document and re-export. (Fireworks' code is not robust and it is only intended for mockups and prototypes. Fireworks is not intended for developing and maintaining live Web sites; Dreamweaver is.)
    If your developer used Dreamweaver, then I really don't expect that Fireworks would be able to import that, nor any code that isn't in exactly the format that it can export. If you know your developer used Fireworks, then you need to look for .png files. Fireworks uses an enhanced version of the PNG format for its native document format.
    If you are making small adjustments to your site, then you might be better off working in Dreamweaver. If you're doing a site re-design, then Fireworks is an excellent tool for laying out your design and producing your graphics, but you will, at some point, need to move over to Dreamweaver for coding.

  • Topics not displayed in HTML Help after importing bilingual (Eng, Simp Chinese) word doc

    Hi all:
    I imported a bilingual (English, Simplified Chinese) word
    document (Windows XP) into Robohelp and split topics based on
    Headings. This was successful and I could see both English and
    Chinese characters in the topic sections.
    When I generated HTML Help and reviewed the output, the TOC
    was displayed properly, but the topics could not be found for all
    topics in the TOC.
    I had installed the language packages in Windows XP.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks.

    I wonder if this is nothing to do with language but because
    you are viewing the CHM across a network.
    If that is the case, see this article.

  • Importing Fireworks CC html into Dreamweaver CC

    Hi guys. Hope you can assist.
    I have never encountered this problem before. I have always used Fireworks to "cut up" my flat designs from Photoshop, export it as html (nav bars, footers, etc) and then I simply import it into a Dreamweaver html page in which I have created a table.
    Now I suddenly have an issue where the Fireworks html table is broken once I import it into Dreamweaver - viewed by itself it's perfect - even in Dreamweaver its perfect. It also adds a space underneath the FW html/table.
    Only when I view it in a browser does it appear messed up.
    What is causing this?
    Thanks in advance.

    That looks like it could be the browser default text descender padding from the html5 doctype, and/or the IE linked image border.
    Add the following to your css...
    img {
         display:block;
    a img {
         border:none;

  • Need Help with Firework HTML in Dreamweaver

    I'm using dreamweaver 8 for a project. I want to seek council
    with someone. Basically my web page's tool bar is an image. I
    thought to do it this way because if I change the image i'd just
    have to change the new image to the old file name and everything
    would transfer with out me having to do it to every page.
    Here's my problem, the image is a fireworks HTML. and I
    didn't realize this at first but dreamweaver does the Fireworks
    HTML by inserting html code to page for the links. So when i change
    the image, the code is still up there from the previous image. This
    means i have to go page for page reloading the image and upload all
    the websites to the server again.
    Is there any way I could program dreamweaver to change the
    code for all the pages, or have it reload that html code for all
    the pages at once?
    If there is anyone out there that can answer, I humblely
    implore you to answer for my own sanity.

    Look into using server side includes (SSI's) for navigation
    and other common elements.

  • Help me please haveing trouble inserting fireworks HTML to dreamweaver

    when trying to insert a fireworks html that i exported from
    fireworks mx using the export wizard as soon as i choose the file
    to insert into dreamweaver i get an error message that says
    A script in file C:\Program Files\Macromedia\Dreamweaver
    MX\Configuration\Shared\MM\Scripts\insertFireworksHTML. js has been
    running for a long time. Do you want to continue?
    When i click yes it just comes up with the same message
    multiple times and than after a couple times and than goes back to
    the begging and does not do anything
    I do not know why it is doing this it does this on multiple
    computers that i have tried it on

    You can try this simple fix -
    Quit DW.
    Find this file-
    C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Application
    Data\Macromedia\Dreamweaver
    8\Configuration\WinFileCache-*.dat
    (these folders are normally hidden - you may have to use
    Explorer > Tools >
    Folder Options to unhide them)
    and delete it.
    Restart DW. Works better?

  • Problem with HTML Help import lib

    I am doing a project and using HTML help as the help system. I have done
    this with other projects on the same PC (in a different directory) just
    fine. When I try build my specific new project I get
    3 link errors
    undefined symbol __imp__RegCloseKey@4 referenced in c:\supervisor
    console\htmlhelp.lib
    undefined symbol __imp__RegQueryValueExA@4 referenced in c:\supervisor
    console\htmlhelp.lib
    plus one more
    Could the problem be the space in the directory name "\supervisor console"?
    I am at a loss to what is missing from this new project. I am including the
    same htmlhelp.lib as in the other project.

    We are using designer/headstart 6i.
    Within Designer we have build a Module component with
    several Sub components.
    The Headstart HTML Help Generator doesn't seem to
    allocate a context help ID prefix/suffix, for
    (unbound-) items that are placed on the
    sub-component.
    Hello Mark,
    I modified the generator so that it also generates help for items on subcomponents. Send me an email and I will send you the modified sources.

  • Javascript code missing when inserting Fireworks html into DW document

    I tried to insert fireworks html in a Dreamweaver file. After importing the fireworks html in the Dreamweaver document, the associated Javascript code was missing.
    Of course, the Fireworks html file includes the Javascript code and works properly. It is just that when I insert the Fireworks html into the Dreamweaver file, the associated Javascript code gets lost although the manual clearly says that fireworks html is inserted "along with its associated images, slices, and JavaScript".
    I use Fireworks CS5 and Dreamweaver CS5, but I also tried it using FW CS4 and DW CS4 which did not solve the problem.
    I tried two ways to insert the html code (both with the same negative result):
    1.) using the DW menu: Insert > Image Objects > Fireworks HTML
    2.) Copying the HTML to the clipboard in Fireworks, and then pasting it into the Dreamweaver document
    The Fireworks and the Dreaweaver files are both HTML4 docs.
    Of course, I could insert the Javascript code manually, but then I would have to detach the associated template from the DW doc, and I would rather not do that because then later updates to the site will become more complicated.
    BTW, I also tried to insert the fireworks html in another Dreamweaver document not using any template, but the JavaScript code got lost though.
    I would be very grateful if somebody had an idea how to solve this  problem.
    Many thanks for your help!

    Dear Murray,
    I believe you can solve your problem by changing this -
    </head>
    to this -
    <!-- #BeginEditable "head" --><!-- #EndEditable -->
    </head>
    by editing this template directly.
    I tried this, but it did not change anything. As I wrote before, the JavaScript code is not even inserted when I use a "blank", not-template-controlled DW page.
    But nevertheless, your hint is very helpful. By making the complete head editable, I can at least insert the Javascript code manually.
    But is the javascript that is currently shown there part of the FW HTML insertion?  Do you want to preserve that on the child pages?
    It belongs to the template. And yes, I want to preserve it on the child pages. I just want to insert this into the head of the child page:
    function MM_swapImage() { //v3.0
      var i,j=0,x,a=MM_swapImage.arguments; document.MM_sr=new Array; for(i=0;i<(a.length-2);i+=3)
       if ((x=MM_findObj(a[i]))!=null){document.MM_sr[j++]=x; if(!x.oSrc) x.oSrc=x.src; x.src=a[i+2];}
    Maybe we should see the FW code you are trying to insert?
    Sure. Here is the code I tried to insert (of course, most of the Java Script does not need to be inserted as it is already in the template):
    <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/loose.dtd">

  • Fireworks HTML aligning problem

    Hi, i'm having problems with aligning Fireworks HTML objects
    with either an image set as a background or a regular image.
    I built a layout on fireworks, which I then cut into 4 parts.
    Banner, Nav bar (which will be linked to named anchors on
    dreamweaver), body (which will hold the main content), and footer.
    I created a table in Dreamweaver. The top row has no colomns. It
    holds the banner. The second row has 2 colomns. One for the nav bar
    to the left, and one for the body to the right. The bottom row has
    no colomns. It holds the footer. The banner and nav bar were
    imported as Fireworks HTML since they are complete with slices and
    everything. I was hoping to add content to the body and footer
    using Dreamweaver, so I imported those as Background Images for
    those particular cells since the only way to write on top of an
    image is if it is set as a background. The nav bar I imported from
    Fireworks HTML seems disconnected from the rest of the website.
    There is a small 1pixel space between the nav bar, and the body to
    its right, and also between the nav bar and the banner. Also, the
    banner seems to be aligned maybe 1 or 2 pixels more to the left
    than the body. It seems like the Fireworks HTML I imported wont
    aligne itself perfectliy with the rest of the website. Is there any
    way to fix this?

    Yes, build the whole page in DW itself, don't export the html
    generated from
    Fireworks.
    From what you describe it would be a straight forward process
    in DW. Create
    your tables with enough cells/rows to create either the nav
    and then the
    content area in DW and then insert your sliced images into
    the cells as
    needed.

  • Image Link in HTML Help Doesn't Work (Works Fine in PDF)

    Using TCS V1.3 with the latest patches.
    Single source project with FM to RH -- output to HTML Help.
    I want to create a hyperlink over an image that, when clicked, opens a new topic within the same .chm file.
    Here's what I did:
    1. Imported image by ref. into FM.
    2. Created text box over image.
    3. Created a hypertext link (Specify Named Destination) at the beginning of the destination heading/topic.
    4. Created a hypertext link (Jump to Named Destination) inside the text box.
    5. Tested link in FM - works fine.
    6. Tested link in PDF - works fine.
    7. Tested in .chm - link doesn't exist, just the image.
    Have I missed a step?

    Hello,
    Its because Spry attaches event listeners on the "tabs / buttons / handles" of the accordion, these event listeners are set so they prevent default events.
    There a few ways to solve it.
    - Add a onclick event to your <a> elements that does this:
    onclick="window.location = this.href; return true;"
    - Or you could add another event listener that does it for you, so you don't have to bother adding onclick="" to your elements
    - Or edit the SpryAccordion.js. On line 248 to 276 you will find:
    if (e.preventDefault) e.preventDefault();
    else e.returnValue = false;
    if (e.stopPropagation) e.stopPropagation();
    else e.cancelBubble = true;
    return false;
    Replace it with:
    if (e.stopPropagation) e.stopPropagation();
    else e.cancelBubble = true;
    return true;
    Hopes this helps,

  • Unable to add Search Tab to HTML Help

    In RoboHelp HTML 6 I check Search Tab in the Window
    Properties dialog but after I compile, no Search Tab is available
    in the compiled help. Other Window features seem to switch on or
    off as expected. This project was converted from WinHelp (RoboHelp
    2002 for Word) at some point. I'm not sure what import/conversion
    process was used to move it to HTML Help. Other project aspects
    seem to work OK. Previous WinHelp to HTML Help conversions have not
    experienced this problem. Any suggestions would be welcome.

    Hey Rick,
    I actually tried that pretty early in the process, but still
    ran into the same problem. The good news, though, is that I seem to
    have fixed the project. It's a bit of a kludge, but whatever works.
    I opened the *.hhp file for the project in question in
    Notepad, then opened the *.hhp file for another project that had
    the search tab, and compared them. I ended up making the following
    changes in the problematic project's *.hhp file to make their
    settings match:
    In the OPTIONS section, changed Full-text search to Yes.
    In the WINDOWS section, changed the settings for the
    project's main window to the following:
    "Project
    Title","project.hhc","project.hhk","","",,,,,0x40040520 (etc.)
    That last number in the line was something entirely different
    originally, and I think that's where the problem lay. Saved and
    closed the file, then recompiled and the tab now shows up.
    Hope this helps!
    Best,
    Melinda
