Importing nikon d610 files and presets are applying to raw files?

I just picked up a nikon d610 and every time I import photos several presets are applied to my Raw images. White balance, contrast, Vibrance, saturation, and sharpening. It's like an import preset is set but I don't have anything selected. This only happens on my D610, my D800 and D7000 import raw files in with no settings applied. Running LR5.5 on a Mac OS 10
Anyone experience this before?

You mention an older camera, which opens the door to the possibility of older software. There are histories of older versions of Nikon Transfer doing bad things to files from newer cameras. Check to see that you have the most recent version of Nikon Transfer. If not, do the upgrade then transfer the files again from the card(s).

The A33 isn't supported until LR 3.2. So, if you posted to this thread because you are using LR 2, then that's your problem.

You need Lightroom 4 or CS6. Otherwise you will have to download the free DNG software and convert images.

I'd start with the following document, with one modification. At step 12 after typing GEARAspiWDM press the Enter/Return key once prior to clicking OK. (Pressing Return adds a carriage return in the field and is important.)

Aperture does not import Nikon JPG files when RAW and JPG

I own a Nikon D2x that I download files to a Sony 40GB portable HD. When I shoot in RAW + JPG only the RAW file is imported when I connect the Sony HD to my Mac and import to Aperture.
If I open the Sony disk Icon on the Desktop, I can see both the RAW and the JPG. In fact I can finder copy both files to the Desktop with no problem.
Even when I connect the camera itself, the jpg files are not imported.
This makes me think I should just shoot in RAW and save the space on the memory card.
Why does Aperture not import the JPG files?

it does import them ... but only displays the RAW file ... if you drill down into the library package you will see them ...

What Setting are Applied to RAW Imports?

When I import my RAW files into Lightroom, what settings are applied to them - camera or Lightroom settings. If Lightroom, how do I change those settings?

Many of the camera settings are proprietary, Lightroom cannot read most of them. Consequently, Adobe must create camera defaults for every model of camera that shoots raw images. If you have a Nikon or Canon camera you can go to the calibration section in the develop module and find camera matching profiles for many of the in-camera settings. Most other brands of cameras will have one profile called Adobe Standard. All of these profiles are only available on raw images. JPEG images taken by the camera will have an embedded profile, and that's all that's available.
If you have a Canon or Nikon camera you can try the different camera settings available in the calibration section. Lightroom is programmed to read the Adobe Standard profile. If this profile isn't acceptable you can create your own preset with the settings the way you want them, and this preset can be applied when images are imported. Alternatively, you can set everything the way you want it to be initially on one of your images, and then save new camera defaults using those settings. Then they will be applied automatically to any images that you import into Lightroom.

Lightroom 3 on a laptop as well as on my iMac and presets are not editing my photos the same.

HELP! I have Lightroom 3 on a laptop as well as on my iMac. I have imported all the same presets to my laptop and yet the photos are not at all the same as my iMac. None of the presets take the same to the exact same files between my laptop and my iMac. Even the Lightroom presets that came in with the program. The histogram is completely different on each of the photos and presets, but the settings and numbers along the right side ( exposure, black, fill light etc..) are matching. This has nothing to do with the screen. I have compared both the files on one computer. I need to figure this out! Please help.

It's obviously an upgrade. It should ask you for a second serial from a previous product. Try again and make sure to input the right serials at the right point.

HELP - How can I import Nikon .nef files into Lightroom?

I installed Lightroom 5 on a Mac and tried importing (copy as DNG) .net files from an SD card I used with my Nikon D750 (LR 5 is supposed to support the D750). LR couldn't display a preview or import that file type so I used the latest Adobe DNG converter (version 9) to convert the .nef pics on the SD card. LR then recognized the images but STILL WOULD NOT IMPORT them. I get an error message saying the images could not be "read." I've tried 2 different SD cards. !Any suggestions? Thanks.
I even tried uninstalling Lightroom 5 and installing a trial of Lightroom CC. I tried importing .dng files that were converted from Nikon .net files with the Adobe DNG converter. I received the error message in the screen shot below.

This error message means you have to set the Destination directory to have WRITE permission.
So, determine what directory is specified in the Import dialog box on the right in the Destination section. Then go to your operating system, find this exact directory, and then change the directory to have WRITE permission.

Workspace is messed up and presets are lost

Hi I am using Audition 2014.2.
Sometimes, almost every day, when I open Audition the workspace is messed up and every pannel is pushed to the upper left corner of the window.
The same time, all the presets are lost and the Presets list of the effects rack is empty.
I can reestalish it by deleting the folder "user/xxx/AppData/roaming/adobe/audition", but after a while the annoying problems reaapear.

You have to stop your computer trashing the folder for whatever reason - Audition doesn't do this.
Make sure that you are using it as an administrator user, and that you haven't got some sort of protection scheme in place for supposedly protecting your settings - they regularly trash stuff you actually want...

Color - Shine - background column of panels, contour line of tools and image area in Camera RAW

Is there any way to change - obscure - the brightness of the column trim panels and the outline of the image area in Camera Raw?.
In ACR 8.4 can change the brightness of the background image area - as in Ps - but can not find how to do the rest, and the truth is that it is a problem, since the image is darker than actual because of the brightness of the surrounding areas. Ideally there would be neutral gray .....
If you see an image in Bridge, having selected dark backgrounds for both the preview area and the various windows - thumbnails , metadata, folders , etc. - , as if we see in Ps with the same type of configuration (something Ps presents with dark background both in the area of image and layered windows , settings , menus, tools, etc ....) , we will see the picture clearer than in ACR , ie , if we develop a RAW file in ACR, especially if you have dark areas - eg night photographs - , end up leaving it more clear what is right, because of the contrast - glare - with the brightness of the area surrounding the image window , but I can not check until we go to Photoshop or return to Bridge.
So .... Is there any way to write the ACR window looking like Bridge or Photoshop ?. Is there a way to darken those areas (as there is in Bridge or Photoshop)?
If not, is something that developers should think about going ACR implemented with an update .....

It took a long time to bring a dark UI to Photoshop & Bridge...sparked in part by Lightroom's dark UI. But, dealing with custom UI in plug-ins is a slightly different problem...I would like to see a dark UI as well. But it boils down to feature triage...given X number of engineer hours per version, what features are top most in the must haves...the elves on ACR are always working on new things. Hopefully a UI revamp (not just dark UI but also configurable panels and some other niceties) will rise to the top of the list.
One advantage of the new CC subscription model is that new features don't have to wait till some arbitrary major version number. New things can get added as they get done. Hopefully this will free up the ACR engineers to do some cool new things, sooner rather than later!

Use the FREE Nikon software that came with your camera to convert D610 RAW photos to TIF, import the TIF into LR
Use the FREE Adobe DNG converter to convert your D610 RAW photos to DNG, import the DNG into LR

LR 3.4 can't recognize Nikon D610 Raw Files

Hello Ligthroom forum,
I currently have LR 3.4, just got a Nikon D610 tried to open a couple of raw files.LR says these camera files are not supported.I downloaded the new DNG Converter_8_3.Now I think I excuted the correctly.
But still can not open Nikon D610 files.Any thoughts?Should I run the exe file again or maybe upgrade to LR 5.3

I would recomend upgrading to the latest version of LR 5.3. for all intents and purposes LR 3.x is a second rate raw processor in the present market.
Lots of new tools and improved , process version, sharpening, noise reduction, lens correction profiles nad much more.

Hi,
The D610 requires camera raw 8.3 which is not compatible with your PSE 10.
You need to upgrade to PSE 12 (or later) or use the free Adobe DNG converter. The converter will take a flder containg your NEF files and converte them to DNG files. The DNG files can then be used by PSE 10.
