  • How to mark (psd) Images with the Circle Symbol without duplicating them

I would like to import my layered images in Aperture.
The problem is i would like to further adjust them in photoshop cs3 without creating a duplicate.
Is there a possibility to mark this images with the Circle Symbol (for edited with external editor) or do I really have to open each image than close again, delete the master and then the remaining image with the circle can be opened and further enhanced in Photoshop without duplicating the image.
    Another example:
I like to open a psd file within aperture with: edit with Adobe Photoshop CS3.
The Image should open without being duplicated. Then I could drag the layer into another PSD document and close it again.
Right now I would end up with a Master Duplicate which I have to delete afterwards.
I know I could use referenced files and say show in finder but I like managed better,
    also:
Show in finder does show you only one image (I like to do that to 5 or 10 images at once).
    bc

Like I said if you want to get into the programming business you can modify the aperture database directly but I don't know of an easier way with managed masters. You can always just do your workaround to files that you are actually working on and you only need to do it once.
Sorry there is no answer to easier answer to deal with all of them at the same time. At least none I can think of off the top of my head.
    RB
Ps. Lightroom can just open your PSD files but that is an apples and oranges thing. Lightroom is not trying to manage your masters for you in a managed library an ensure that nothing modifies them, if you are ok with that method than referenced files should be ok with you as well, you can always use referenced for your legacy PSDs and use a managed methodology for your new images going forward starting with the source image.

    Hi,
Maximum number of appliances supported—While a single Cisco Secure ACS Remote Agent can provide services to many Cisco Secure ACS Appliances, support is limited to five concurrent connections by the appliances served. For example, if you have three appliances that are primary Cisco Secure ACSes and three appliances that are secondary Cisco Secure ACSes used for failover purposes only, the remote agent can provide services to all six appliances and stay below the maximum of five concurrent connections.

  • Why is it impossible to export a file with the same fidelity as the version iMovie itself plays for me?

My movie is a photo slideshow using Ken Burns effect throughout, using iMovie 09. It looks beautiful when I play the project directly from within iMovie, even when enlarged to fullscreen playback. Is there really no way to set the quality settings high enough to reproduce this level of quality in an exported file? It seems so, and I don't understand why. "Export to iDVD" is a joke--even with the best quality settings there is an incredible amount of moire patterns and jagged edges. Exporting to Quicktime is better, but still the comparison with the version played from within the application is very poor. I wouldn't care if my computer had to crunch all night to render a file (and my movie is only 12 minutes long), I would just like to be able to view it on other computers or DVD players at the original quality.
It seems to me that playing it from within iMovie should be *worse*, because iMovie is not only displaying the movie, it has to render it from scratch in realtime by zooming and panning on the photos. So an exported version (i.e. precalculated, prerendered) of the same quality would certainly be playable on a normal device like a DVD player.
Can anyone explain? Or (but I doubt it) could anyone tell me what I've missed, and explain how to export a pixel-for-pixel, frame-for-frame replication of what iMovie apparently effortlessly displays??

a DVD is 720x480 and highly compressed.
… how to export a pixel-for-pixel, frame-for-frame replication of what iMovie apparently effortlessly displays??
video is compressed - otherwise, files are getting gargantual (a top-notch intermediate in FCPX is 40-120GBs per hour, a disk, for comparrison is 4GB/h).
    two options:
    • in the Export with Quicktime Option, you'll find a bit-rate setting - depending on your other settings (resolution, framerate, codec), 5-10.000 kbps should result in a superb result.
    • instead of a playback-optimized codec as usual h.264, you can give AppleAnimation a try - much larger files, but e.g. less banding. only for use on Macs.
to transfer lossless to iDVD, choose AppleIntermediate, which is iMovies internal codec.
.... but a disk with same quality as a computer HDef? Not possible.

  • Issue: impossible to sync my settings with the adobe account

I'm logged-in in Adobe Creative Cloud, but still Photoshop CC doesn't seem to give me the possibility to sync my settings with the account.
If I go in Photoshop what I see is this, and if I click on "Sync settings now", "Manage account online" etc, nothing happens.
So, how do I make sure that I got everything rightly set to do the syncing, and how do I actually do it?
    Thank you!

Yes I tried by closing and relaunching. So maybe I'm missing something in the actual synching passage. Can you summarize in steps what should I do to sync the whole thing so I can check if I'm doing it right? Thank you

  • How to select a movie with the Apple Remote on Mountain Lion?

I asked the Apple store's live chat if on new computers without Front Row and if I get the remote whether I would still be able to select a movie and play it from iTunes with the remote. They said yes. So I pose the question here: How?
When I try the Play button, iTunes opens in the background. Up and down buttons change volume. Depending on if Music, Movies, or even Books are selected under the Library sidebar, back/forward buttons either switch songs, switch movies (with aparently no abaility to switch tracks in a movie), or nothing. If Movies were selected and one starts playing, there is no way to close it without going back to the computer. This is fairly ******** functionality that doesn't quite match what the Apple rep told me. So again I ask: How?

That series of *'s up there was the word re tar-ded. I obviously meant it in the verb's sense as "held back" and not saying the software is mentally unfit....

  • Does anyone else have trouble with the new remote?

Is anyone else having any issues with the remote for the new MacBook Pro's? I can hit menu on the remote, then go to iphoto, it will let me go down, then simply quits. I just bought it in July so this is rather frustrating. If now one else is having trouble is there anything I can do? or should I just go back to the store to have them look at it?

Probably take it back to the store--if it's defective, you'll get a new one right away, and you can make sure it works while you're in the store.
Maybe I should take mine out of the package and check it out.
    Good luck!

  • Issue with the Apple remote

I've been having a problem with my Apple TV remote controlling functions on my iMac. How do I un-pair the remote with my iMac, and have it paired solely with the ATV?

Welcome to the  Discussion Forums
To unpair with the imac, go to security in system preferences, the option to pair/unpair is under the general tab.
To pair with the tv go to settings in the main menu on the tv.

  • Connection problems with the application "Remote"

I have had my iPhone for about 5 months now and I have had the application remote since I first bought it. It worked great up until I purchased a new virus protection software "McAfee... 2009" I went though the applications information and attempted to "allow" the ports that it supposedly uses, no luck.
Hopefully someone can give me a hand with this?

Sorry, you are right, the number of application modules created whe the application starts is given by the jbo.ampool.initpoolsize. But what it is sure is that the "total number of application modules in the pool" starts to decrease. The number of days is not always the same. But we have to restart the application occasionally.
I think the time parameters are ok, I would like for example 10 minutes for pool resoruce cleanup, and 10 minutes for considering an inactive AM instance in the pool as a candidate for removal during the next resource cleanup.
    <jbo.ampool.monitorsleepinterval>600000</jbo.ampool.monitorsleepinterval> --> 10 minutes
    <jbo.ampool.maxinactiveage>600000</jbo.ampool.minavailablesize> --> 10 minutes
    Is this right?

  • Where is the book mark list icon with the star

The bookmark list with a star that normally appears on the right side does not show up. Where is it

Note that the screenshot shows that you have the Menu bar visible.<br />
The Bookmarks Menu button will only stay visible when you hide the Menu bar as you can access the bookmarks via the Bookmarks menu in that case.

  • Two stations with the same keyboard and mouse??

    hi everybody!!!
I'm thinking about buying a mac mini. I have also a powerbook (closed, becasuse i work with an external display and an external keyboard).
But, i should do now? buy a second keyboard and a second mouse??
is there any common wireless keyboard or mouse to work with two stations (by two frecuencies or something like that)??

    Greetings,
When you say two monitors do you mean two separate computers (like 2 iMacs)?
If you mean 2 seperate macs then you could either:
Use a network keyboard / mouse sharing program like Teleport: http://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/14042/teleport
Use a physical KVM switch: http://www.belkin.com/IWCatProductPage.process?Product_Id=267031
    Hope that helps.

  • Turning iBook pages on the iPad with the apple remote

Something I'd love to see; using any reader; I have my pad on a stand; and Im engrossed in a book; with each page turn I have to lean forward and reach toward the screen; how great it would be to use the remote or an iphone in hand to turn the pages on the iPad screen. Is there an app out there that does this; or have I just given an idea to a developer....

Obviously no technical solutions here; but a very entertaining lesson in the moral rectitude of effort LOL
Moral rectitude? What's this the Sarah Palin school of language?
Seriously, I don't read anything that far away. The iPad font would require a pair of binoculars. I suppose a remote would work then.
As a medical professional, I'd suggest that we follow Occam's Razor (kind of corollary, I suppose) in that the easiest solution is the best. Go see an ophthalmologist. You need some reading glasses.

  • Controlling the BBC iPlayer with the Apple Remote

I watch programmes on the BBc iPlayer on my TV sreen by connecting my MacBook to the television. I'd dearly love to control the MacBook using my Apple remote. but it's only applicable to iTunes,iPhoto and the DVD player.
Anyone out there with ideas about a workaround?

If you do not mind spending a few $, you can check out Sofa Control http://gravityapps.com/sofacontrol/overview/
I use it and it works great to fill in the gaps. Feel free to do a quick Google search to see if there are some free solutions. I haven't looked recently, so there may be some new ones out there.
    Hope I could Help,
