Impossible to uptdate my 3120 classic

Hello,
One day, I updtated my 3120 classic without problems. Now that I'm trying to update it to version 10.0, it's impossible.
The update begins, my phone goes in test mode for a few seconds then switch on automatically and NSU tells me that there is a problem with my USB connection. I tried everything (reinstall the programs, the drivers, change USB port,...), does someone has the solution?

Before you try again, go to http://www.nokia.com/pcsuite and ensure that you have the latest pcsuite that is compatible with your phone. If now, download the latest, install and try again.

  • Help for a rookie 3120 Classic user please

Just purchased a 3120 classic.  wish I had checked here first as the backlighting thing (or lack of) is really annoying.  My question is - are you able to set a signature on your outgoing text messages? my very old Sanyo allowed me to have my name automatically at the end of all texts I sent, which I found convenient. Thanks in advance for your help.

You can't do that but you can compromise by creating and saving message template with your name at the end and creating all your messages from that template but I don't think you can set a shortcut to the template itself for your standby screen so getting to the the point where you actually start typing in your messages will now be a few extra clicks

  • Maximum size for JAR files on Nokia 3120 Classic

I am trying to download and install a java app for a Nokia 3120 classic, but when installing I get an error message telling me that the file is too big at 5.7mb.
I can't find the maximum size of .jar files for this phone anywhere.
Can anyone let me know what this is and whether there is any way to get the app to work.
    Many thanks.
    Alan Watson

YES THERE IS A WAY!! I only got this information from someone else. Thanks for that person.
    Here are the steps:
    1. Download the jar file you want to install, to your computer. Now open My computer, and on the upper left corner you shall see a menu, click the "Tools" button and then click "Folder options..." A little window will appear. Click the "View" tab. On this window you need to find an option "Hide extentions for known file types" below "Advanced settings". Then unmark or uncheck the box.
    2. Now when you open my computer and go to the folder where you had downloaded the java file, the file name will read "(anyfilename).jar". HERE IS THE TRICK.
    3. Rename the last part of your file. Instead of .jar change it to .jpg so that it reads  "(anyfilename).jpg"
    4. Now copy the renamed file and paste it in your mobile's C: or Memory Card drive.
    5. Once you had pasted, rename the copied file back to what it was. i.e "(anyfilename).jar"
BASICALLY the phone limits a file with a ".jar" extention, you can fool it by renaming the extention to ".jpg" and then once the file is copied into the phones C:drive you can change the extention back to ".jar" by renaming it.
Share it. Hope it works for you! God bless...

  • Opening content in PDF format on 3120 classic?

Is it possible to open contents in PDF format on 3120 classic?
    Which app is suitable?

I think it is normal for books to take longer when they include multiple big size reports. I had a similar problem at a client. We ended up not including all the reports in one book and create several books instead. In another situation, we scheduled batches and the books ran automatically. This way, the users just received an email with the whole book in one pdf instead of running it on an ad-hoc basis and wait for the outcome.
    Hope this helps.

  • Synch Gmail contacts on Nokia 3120 Classic

    Hi,
How can I synch the Gmail contacts with my Nokia 3120 Classic Mobile phone?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi jabhijeet,
Welcome to the Nokia Support Discussions!
Your phone doesn't support such functionality, but you can log into your social network accounts on your phone for you to be able to view their contact info.
Another option is to add your contacts manually. To do this, tap People > swipe to contacts and then follow the steps below:
Tap the Add (+) icon .
If you're signed in to several accounts, select the account to which you want to save the contact.
Add the contact details, and tap Save icon. Note that your contacts are backed up automatically to your Microsoft account.

  • Import phonebook from E50 to 3120 Classic

Dear fellows, I've just exchanged from E50 to 3120 Classic phone. Before returning E50 I backed up my phonebook in my 1Gb memory card, and each contact appeared as a vcf file. Then, I put the memory card into my 3120, and the files are there, but 3120 does not recognize the vcf files as phonebook entries.
How do I solve this? What is the file type that 3120 works with and how can I convert vcf files into this?
I really appreciate your help, since I have 200+ contacts which I do not intend to type one by one into my new phone.
    Thanks a lot!
    Cheers,
    Rodrigo

well the fundamental issue is that you have moved from a business oriented device to a very basic phone, e50 is a s60 phone 3120 is a s40 phone they work on different platforms therefore compatability is an issue here. did you try to copy your contacts to the sim card while using the e50 and then just swap the sim card to your new phone? a new sim card - under 2 years old or so should have capacity for up to 250 contacts. ifyou say that you have only about 200 you should be able to do so without any issues.

  • 3120 classic and 2700 RAM

    Hi,
I'm looking at getting a new phone, probably either the 3120 classic or the 2700.
I am planning on using the phone with a bluetooth GPS. One of the pieces of GPS software that I am hoping to use (http://we-travel.co.cc) specifies that it requires "2 MB of RAM available in JVM environment."
I've looked at http://www.forum.nokia.com/devices and it says the 2700 has 64MB of RAM and doesn't say how much RAM the 3120c has. Both devices have maximum heap size of 2MB.
Can anyone give me any insight into whether either of these phones might be suitable for this software?
Also is there any info anywhere about what microprocessors are used in these phones?
    Thanks
    Andy

Nokia does not have any support for Mac.
Nokia has very good support for Mac users, in general:

If they don't have an iSync plugin for your phone, try this Google search:

  • 3120 classic offers following BT services

Bluetooth on host PC: Windows Vista BT stack in use. Vista Feature Pack for Wireless installed. Nokia Ovi Suite installed but not used in experimenting addressed in this thread. When paired Nokia 3120 classic offers to Vista host following BT services: - Dial-UP - Nokia SyncML server - Remote Control - serial interface spp COM1 - serial interface spp NOkia PC Suite - SyncML client - unknown service - unknown service - unknown service - unknown service What are the four unknown services? Which BT official profile do the two SyncML items correspond to? Does this NOkia model really not offer FTP, OPP, PIB? When using with Thoshiba stack on another PC it was possible to use FTP.
On default while pairing 5 services are selected to enable on the host Vista.
How to change the list of services to be enabled on pairing?

Dear Nokia, Do you have any idea what a driver could satisfy your stuff (please the question asked in post above please)? Otherwise, it seems to had been the best decision to say goodby to Nokia products, vendors with no control over own products and their's properties are not worth the customer's trust.

  • Hard reset Nokia 3120 Classic

    Hello,
I have an old Nokia 3120 classic phone which I would like to use as my spare device however when I turn on this device it asks me for a security code, which I didnt set at all. Is there any other way to hard reset this device (other than going to the Service Centre, for which they would be charging exorbitant amounts anyway).

  • Nokia 3120 Classic - restoring display menu

I was recently personalizing my Nokia 3120 classic and was trying to see what I preferred regarding the display (essentially the home screen).  When I pressed the 'up' navigation button and then 'options' to changes what was displayed, I set all parts of the display to empty (when I first bought it, it was populated with a line of application/function icons - left to right in the top-most row, the date and time in the second row and 'notes' in the third row).
Now I can't get anything back, and none of the Menu functions allow me to make any changes to this part of the display.  Restoring factory settings does not restore this either.  There is no intuitive way for this to work on the 'home' screen as the options function doesn't exist any more (emptying the rows has removed the function altogether).
There is nothing to direct a fix in the user manual either.
    Can anyone help?

    *sigh*

i'm frustrated with the redundance of this question, not in you personally for having asked it.

  • Nokia 3120 Classic won't disconnect from internet?

    Hi,
I was wondeirng if anyone can help me?
I've had my Nokia 3120 Classic for a month or so now, on the 3 network.
Whenever I load into Planet 3, to check my usage, read the news headlines, or I receive an MMS, I can connect to their internet fine, but no matter how long I leave it my phone does not disconnect.
Has anyone else experienced this? Is there a way to disconnect that I can't find?
Thanks in advance for any ideas or help!

I guessed it you were in planet 3 by just reading the subject.
    You are from Australia rite..
I believe you have a plan with 3 network which connects automatically to the internet.
If you call 3 they will ask you to call nokia and Nokia will not know what to do cause it is due to your network and push you back to 3.
The only way to get around this is to delete the access point of planet 3 in access points.
but you might have to request for the setting every time you wanna use the internet.
You might also have a problem deleting the access point as it will ask to disconnect first which you cant.
-So you might have to go offline (flight mode) and then delete the access point.
However if you do use the internet regularly then it might be an hassle to get the access points every time so instead of deleting the access point edit it so it does not get connected( maybe change the data beareror authentication but remember what you have changed ) so you can re-edit if you wanna use it.
Mark me a KUDOS if this has helped...

  • Nokia 3120 classic (message received time is wrong...

Hi.. got some problems with my nokia 3120 classic. I bought my fone 2 wks ago and decide to upgrade my fone to new firmware version which is 7.16, after the fone was updated i noticed that whenever i received txt messages, the received time is wrong.. it is i think 8 hrs late.. I'm txting my friends and when they reply, the received time display is wrong. Is this a bug for the new version? It's not synchronizing in my phone clock. Of course my phone clock is ok.. Message sent time is ok but the received time is wrong. Any suggestions? Pls help..
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

ok.. i've figured out already the problem. it's not on the software update but it is due to the GMT. i noticed that even your dates and time are correct, you must set your correct timezone from what country you were. if the auto update time and date is on, i think it varies on the timezone u set on ur fone so if your timezone is wrong, the message receive time is wrong too. well i already solved this.

  • Nokia 3120 Classic on Linux

    Hi all.
Have anyone got Nokia 3120 Classic (http://europe.nokia.com/find-products/devices/nokia-3120-classic)  running on Linux?
I wanna be able to do all that I'm able to do on Windows, but on Linux.  Is that possible?
Since I'll just run Linux, this is a crucial question in order to buy my new cell phone.
    Thank you very much.
    davi

You'll never be able to do absolutely everything on a mobile phone in Linux that you can using Windows or Mac software provided by the manufacturer. You will be able to do most, though.
The three things you usually end up doing while connected to the computer are:
    1) transferring files to/from the phone
    2) tethering the phone to the computer (uising it as a modem)
    3) synchronizing contacts, calendar etc. with the computer.
    1) is easy. You connect the phone in mass storage mode and it behaves like any other bog-standard device managed by the usb-storage module of your Linux kernel. It looks like an external hard disk or a pen drive. Alternatively you can transfer files via bluetooth using, for example, the KDE bluetooth client and server applications. I'm sure equivalents exist for GNOME.
    2) http://linux.sgms-centre.com/nokiafaq/mobile_broadband/
    3) is harder. Apparently you can use kmobiletools but I never did get it working and the software hasn't been updated for nearly 2 years. Personally, I use OVI sync to back up my contacts, calendar entries and notes online, and I have a backup to my memory card scheduled every day (you can't do the latter witn a 3120c AFAIK).
