In CS6, smart guides don't appear to be working correctly.

I'm having some trouble with smart guides in Ai CS6. They are on. However, when my cursor intersects a guide path, words like 'intersect' and 'guide' do not appear, as I have seen them do for others. Also, the 'heads-up' information display that shows the width and height, e.g. when using the grid tool, does not appear either.
The guides are working to some extent, it seems, since I do get green lines here and there.

If you have Snap to Grid on, it disables the use of Smart Guides, so you may turn it off, if.

Cannot access web. Network diagnostics says my internet connection appears to be working correctly

Am running Lion on MacBook. Suddenly cannot access web with Safari or Firefox. Email OK and Network diagnostics says my internet connection appears to be working correctly". No problems with my iMac on same network.

What exactly happens when you try to load a web page?

Smart guides just stop appearing (CC)

Both me and my colleague have noticed with InDesign CC that smart guides just stop showing up. Those little clicks you experience as you change the position of an objects edge and the green lines appear... they just don't do that anymore. Anyone else experienced this?

We're creating prototypes for sites and to circumvent the issue of InDesign not placing objects on whole numbers we're using a 1px x 1px grid... it could be that this interferes with the smart snapping and snapping of objects? We could swear though that we had both the green smart guide lines appearing and this grid simulataneously?

Indesign cs6, smart guides on, transform not proportional

i use my smart guides a lot. i have found that when i go to transform an image using the direct select tool, and the cmd+shift function, the percentage of the scale is not consistant on teh x and y axis (they should be the same). i do have the "constrain proportions" active. i have tested without them being active. it seems, so far, the only time i can recreate the issue is when the smart guides are active.
-osx 10.8.3
-indesign cs6 (cloud subscription)
-smart guides on
-transform window open
-constrain proportions active
-direct select tool
-select image within a frame with direct select tool (white arrow tool)
-use shift+cmd and drag and scale, repeat (small and large areas)
-repeat a few times and watch the horizontal and vertical percentages in the transform window. percentages will not be consistent after a few tries
does anyone else have this issue?
can anyone else recreate this issue?
does anyone have any suggestions on a fix (other than turning off the smart guides)?

okay, i finally figured this bad boy out! here is the solve in case you guys come across the problem
-indesign cs6, go to preferences>guides and pasteboard
-go to "smart guide options"
-turn OFF "smart dimensions" and "smart spacing"
all is well with the world, and i can sleep peacefully once again

CS6 - 'Smart Guides' aren't vissible

I have a love-hate relationship with Smart Guides, but I need them. After installing Illustrator CS6 (Production Suite) on my Mac Pro (2 x Quad-Core Intel Xeon, 12 Gb of RAM) I can't toggle Smart Guides on! Whether there is a check next to the menu item or not, it doesn't matter. I've gone into Preferences and turned on everything under the 'Smart Guides' section... nothing.
Help me! I need my Smart Guides!

Illustrator CS4 Smart Guides Don't Match Transform Panel

Does anybody have any idea why my smart guide dimensions don't match my transform pallet?
For example I draw a square and the smart guide measurements say .25 x .25 but the transform panel says 0.2515 in x 0.2515 in.

ITunes Match Smart Playlists Don't Appear to Work

Hi all!
I was playing around with the smart playlists in iTunes last night, to try and keep an eye on how the sync to the cloud was progressing.
I created smart playlists with iCloud status is: duplicate, error, ineligible, local only, matched, purchased and uploaded.
Now, when I look at my full list of songs, I see the "ineligible" icon next to several items (mostly digital booklets) yet the ineligible playlist shows 0 entries. Similarly, directly after importing a CD, the tracks on the CD show "waiting", I would expect my "local only" playlist to show these items, but again, that playlist shows 0 entries. The only playlist that appears to work is the "duplicate" playlist
anyone else had this before? am i doing something wrong (likely!)

UPDATE: so i was looking through some more, and here's another issue: I bought James Blunts album many many years ago. If I look at the "matched" playlist it shows "Goodbye My Lover" which is track 4/11, the remaining 10 tracks are in the "purchased" playlist. Checking the info on "Goodbye My Lover" show that it is "Purchased AAC audio file"
I've also bought the AC/DC box set from iTunes, and some of those tracks are showing in the "uploaded" playlist!
In "View Options" i enabled iCloud status and it's just all over the place! Music i've purchased (and subsequently added to iTunes from apple support allowing me to redownload purchases) are shown as "Uploaded" or "Matched", some songs from albums (imported) are matched and others uploaded. Parts of box sets are "uploaded", others are "matched" and others "purchased"...
what the?! I'm just confused! I'd like to use the option to upgrade my songs to the best quality (for my CD imports) and thought these playlists would help (actually a single button - "Upgrade" would be nice!) but they don't appear to be too accurate

Smart guides and snap to point not working in Adobe Illustrator CC 2014

I am having a lot of issues with Illustrator CC 2014 and the Smart Guides. Every time I try and snap one object to another or snap an object to a guide, the object snaps either above or below the guide/object but never snaps correctly. This also happens when I am zoomed in all the way!
I do not have align to pixel grid or snap to grid turned on.

It sounds as if Illy thinks the former.
The following is a general list of things you may try when the issue is not in a specific file (you may have tried/done some of them already); 1) and 2) are the easy ones for temporary strangenesses, and 3) and 4) are specifically aimed at possibly corrupt preferences); 5) is a list in itself, and 6) is the last resort.
1) Close down Illy and open again;
2) Restart the computer (you may do that up to 3 times);
3) Close down Illy and press Ctrl+Alt+Shift/Cmd+Option+Shift during startup (easy but irreversible);
4) Move the folder (follow the link with that name) with Illy closed (more tedious but also more thorough and reversible);
5) Look through and try out the relevant among the Other options (follow the link with that name, Item 7) is a list of usual suspects among other applications that may disturb and confuse Illy, Item 15) applies to CC, CS6, and maybe CS5);
Even more seriously, you may:
6) Uninstall, run the Cleaner Tool (if you have CS3/CS4/CS5/CS6/CC), and reinstall.

Address Book "Groups" and "Smart Groups" don't appear on iPod Touch

In Address Book I have some 200 contacts (cards) and I've started making groups manually and also using Smart Groups.
The contacts are all there-- WELL WAIT-- I'm not there! ME-- My contact card is not listed in iPod!
ALSO: none of my GROUPS or SMART GROUPS are listed! Why not?

OK so I guess I have to solve my own problems...
...seems that if you delete and re-do the GROUPS in Address Book, then they do appear.
As to "Smart Groups"-- seems they never appear on the iPod Touch.
Other comments or info appreciated.

Lightroom and Photoshop don't appear to be working together any more

I generally do initial edits in Lightroom and fine tune in Photoshop - now, they don't seem to recognize each other - any thoughts?

thanks - I've got CS 5.5 and Windows 7 - I used to edit in Lightroom, then open in Photoshop and I'd get a window with the image asking me if I wanted to open it - then I stopped getting that message and Photoshop would open the image without the Lightroom edits - finally, while in Lightroom, I would right-click the edited image and I would get a window that where I could select edit in Photoshop - now, those buttons are grayed out so my only option is to export the Lightroom edited images to a folder and then open in Photoshop which is a lot of extra steps - they used to interface and now they don't and I'm wondering why

New NAT definitions don't appear to be working

N6 server running BM3.7. Been using pcAnywhere on 5 PCs in the
organization for years. Now ISP has allotted more external fixed IP
addresses and I am trying to set up a new PC to use one of the new
addresses. I added the new addresses and their proper translations to
the NAT definition (via INETCFG) and verified that the new
translations look just like the original 5 in TCPIP.CFG. The 5631 and
5632 filter exceptions are set to all addresses. I have tested and
confirmed that I can use the new IP address to connect to the 5631
port of a PC on the public side of the BM server but not on the
private side.
Can anyone suggest a setting I might have missed to open these new
addresses through BorderMgr? Possibly a subnet mask somewhere that
would limit the number of static IPs available? At a loss - any help
appreciated!

Maybe I didn't explain something properly above but this is a working
configuration for 5 addresses. I'm just trying to extend the series
of addresses available for PCs running pcAnywhere.

To explain the internal type addresses on the public side of the
server - these are coming from a DSL router that has already made a
translation from the external addresses. I have placed a PC directly
on the router and confirmed that the external addresses are working

Apex_item.hidden does not appear to be working correctly

I am trying to build a manual MRU form based on the How to tutorial by Christina Cho.
The differences are that I am using Apex 2.2 and thus apex_item functions and that I am putting the insertion row first before the existing rows (I want most recent records first).
To simplify testing I removed the select for the existing records (there are none so far). I have the following select:

With the apex_item.hidden, the counts apex_application.g_f01, apex_application.g_f02, and apex_application.g_f08 are equal to zero(0) when I submit the data entered. If I change the hidden functions to text functions then the counts are equal to one(1).
The bad counts appear to be screwing up the collection creation procedure too; I expect it has to do with having a null for a loop end point..
I expect that I can create a work-around with the text fields and not showing them in the report, but does the hidden function have a real bug?
Also, for the collection creation routine, what can be done when there is nothing in the arrays? What is the value of the count?

Unchecking the Show checkbox in Report Attributes means you are asking the Apex reporting engine to not render that column on the report.
If the column in question is a apex_item.hidden() call and it is shown (Show checkbox checked), it will display a "empty" column on the report, but the values will be posted to the g_fNN array you specify.
I agree it is a little non-intuitive, that is why I always "piggyback" the apex_item.hidden() API call with a column that is going to be rendered on the report.
Something like

apex_item.hidden(...)||apex_item.select_list...()
...

Just time machine'd, but I don't know if it worked correctly.

I just used time machine for the first time to my external HD. According to the application, it said I backed up around 119gb of data. However, checking the folder created in my external HD after the process was done showed only 9.9GB. Is this correct?

Time Machine uses a rather unusual and complex file structure; the size of a folder in it's backups is essentially meaningless.
And be very careful *not to move, change, or delete anything in your backups via the Finder.*
Do a +Get Info+ on the TM drive and see what it says for +Space Used.+ That should show your 119 gb (and be slightly less than the amount on your internal HD, unless you'd excluded things.
Also, open a Finder window set to your computer name, or your internal HD name, then click the TM icon in your dock. In the "Star Wars" display, you should see a "cascade" of Finder windows, the first (lowest) of which is labelled +Today (Now)+ and represents, of course, the current contents of your system. If you've done one backup, you should be able to click on the folder in back of the Today folder (or select the data/time in the Timelight at the right) and see the contents of your system as of the time of the backup. You can navigate there just as in a normal Finder window.

Firewall rules don't seem to be working correctly

i have my firewall turned on and have rules for itunes and jungle disk to all incoming, but itunes still alerts me to change firewall settings to allow sharing, which is an annoyance, but jungledisk will not work with me adding a rule, it seems as if i have to the firewall off completely for these to work. Also my screensharing will not work now either, but i have no problem with any other apps like skype where the rules work fine. Any suggestions?
