In Firefox, I'm unable to load any website using cloudflare but the same sites load fine in Safari.

Whenever I try to load any website using cloudflare in Firefox, I get this error message:
"Error 1000 DNS points to prohibited IP. You've requested a page on a website that is on the CloudFlare network. Unfortunately, it is resolving to an IP address that is creating a conflict within CloudFlare's system."
But the same sites load up fine with no problems in Safari. I've tried everything suggested in related support pages - cleared cache (my browser's set to do that on close anyway), cleared cookies, set to no proxy, disabled add-ons, etc. Nothing worked!
EDIT: Just noticed that 1 cloudflare page was able to load after disabling the add-on called "Modify Headers" v7.1.1 However, I don't know if this will work for all cloud flare sites. Unfortunately, I did not keep a list of sites that didn't load, so I can't test by loading them now.

This is the dump from my ModifyHeaders settings:

Other details? Umm, I'm using a Mac. Never had problems before version 4.0. It happens on Netflix, YouTube, Hulu, GomTV, among other video sites. I loaded the same videos in Safari and they play fine.

    Hello
I use Windows Live Mail to download my emails. This is working fine on two computers for other BT Internet and Gmail accounts. But one of my main BT accounts consistently receives the following messages on both computers:
Unable to send or receive messages for the Btinternet (xxx) account.
    Server Error: 0x800CCC90
    Server Response: -ERR inactivity timeout
    Server: 'mail.btinternet.com'

Unable to send or receive messages for the Btinternet (xxx) account. Your server has unexpectedly terminated the connection. Possible causes for this include server problems, network problems or a long period of inactivity.
    Server: 'mail.btinternet.com'
Windows Live Mail Error ID: 0x800CCC0F
    Protocol: POP3
    Port: 110

The messages for this account are available via webmail, and sending an email works.
I've tried BT Desktop Help, but this simply sends me in the direction of standard advice pages. I have no reason to think the settings are wrong.
Could anyone suggest what is going on here please?
    Hi. Welcome to the forums.
For starters, the recommendation by many people is to uninstall BT Desktop help.
If this has always been the case, rather than a sporadic issue, then it could be an account problem that seems to plague some accounts - and has done for years. Hopefully the changeover from Yahoo! to Critical Path will cure this particular issue. Try the other settings mentioned by Keith.
Even though some accounts are fine, there is still a possibility that your local security software can interfere. For example if you have email scanning turned on - then this can be turned off to see if that helps.

  • Opening website "this american life" in firefox 4.0.1 causes firefox to crash, but the same site opens and streams radio shows just fine in IE. Suggestions?

I am trying to stream radio shows through the website for This American Life. As soon as I open the site and click on a link, I get the message about an unresponsive script. The next click to tell it to continue or ignore causes Firefox to crash -- the fade to white/not responding thing. The same site runs just fine on IE.

am running win 7 64 pro - tried going back to firefox 10 with same results. all the tools options are set to remember passwords

Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

It is possible that there is a problem with the files key3.db and signons.sqlite that store the encrypted names and passwords in Firefox.<br />
Rename the files key3.db and signons.sqlite in the Firefox profile folder.<br />
You can add .old to the file names (key3.db.old and signons.sqlite.old) or move them to another folder to make it possible to undo the action.<br />
You need to set a new Master Password after renaming or deleting key3.db and all currently saved passwords are lost.<br />
If that has worked then you can remove the renamed files that are no longer needed.<br />

  • Each time I start up my MacBook Air a document appears on the desk top -calendarlogging.txt  I'm synching my calendar with iCloud.  Using Mavericks, but the same file was appearing using Lion.  Any thoughts.  Thanks

Each time I start up my MacBook Air a text file appears on the desk top (calendarlogging, txt) the file/document contains lines of code.  I'm using iCloud to synch my calendar to multiple other devices - iMac, iPad and iPhone.  Using Maverick on both my iMac and my MacBook Air.  The file was also showing up on the desktop when I was using Lion.  Any thoughts?

    Hi everyone,
To anyone who might read this, I ended up re-installing with the original install disc and was able to get back on to Mac, though I lost all of the previous data that I had not backed up. Unsure still if it will continue to let me access the HDD in this, but it kind of confirms that installing Lion probably put too much stress on the computer this last year.

  • I AM UNABLE TO CONNECT TO ANY WEBSITE USING FIREFOX. EVEN THOUGH, I HAVE BEEN USING FIREFOX ON THE SAME COMPUTER FOR YEARS WITH NO DIFFICULTY. THE PROBLEM AROSE AFTER COMCAST, MY ISP, RECOVERED FROM A WIDESPREAD OUTAGE THAT LASTED 5 HOURS.

I SUCCEEDED IN TRANSFERING ALL MY BOOKMARKS TO GOOGLE CHROME. THIS WILL ALLOW ME ACCESS TO WEBSITES WHILE I WAIT FOR A METHOD TO REPAIR MY FIREFOX PROGRAM. IN A PREVIOUS MESSAGE, I EXPLAINED THAT I WAS UNABLE TO ACCESS ANY WEBSITE USING FIREFOX AFTER COMCAST, MY ISP, RECOVERED FROM AN OUTAGE THAT LASTED 5 HOURS. WHENEVER I TRIED TO CONNECT TO A SITE, A POP-UP MESSAGE APPEARED INDICATING: "UNABLE TO INITIALIZE THE APPLICATION'S SECURITY COMPONENT. THE MOST LIKELY CAUSE IS PROBLEMS WITH FILES IN YOUR APPLICATION'S PROFILE DIRECTORY. CHECK THAT THIS DIRECTORY HAS NO READ/WRITE RESTRICTIONS." I EVEN REMOVED FIREFOX FROM MY COMPUTER AND DOWNLOADED IT AGAIN, FIGURING THAT BY NOT MERELY USING AN UPGRADE, I WOULD BE INSTALLING A COMPLETELY FRESH DOWNLOAD. UNFORTUNATELY, I RECEIVED THE SAME DISAPPOINTING RESULT, WITH THE SAME POP-UP MESSAGE RE-APPEARING. HOWEVER USING BOTH GOOGLE CHROME AND INTERNET EXPLORER, I WAS ABLE TO CONNECT TO WEBSITES. SO I HAVE TO CONCLUDE THAT THE PROBLEM IS NOT WITH MY INTERNET CONNECTION.

Press '''START + R''' in keyboard to open the '''Run''' box(or '''start''' then '''run''') , type in the RUN box '''%APPDATA%''' (or copied in just i wrote, bold text) then click '''OK'''. A Windows Explorer window will appear, in this window, choose '''Mozilla''' then '''Firefox''' then '''Profiles'''. Each folder in the "Profiles" folder (e.g., "xxxxxxxx.default") is a profile on your computer (maybe is one file if you have only one profile).

    try it, good luck

  • My MacBook Pro won't load any websites on Safari (except this site, Facebook and Google), Opera, or Mozilla Firefox. I already did the "Reset Safari", restarted the computer half a dozen times, and I can't find this alleged "caches.db" file to delete.

My MacBook Pro won't load any websites on Safari (except this site, Facebook and Google). Opera and Mozilla Firefox won't load any sites whatsoever. I already did the "Reset Safari" several times, restarted the computer half a dozen times, and I can't find this alleged "caches.db" file to delete. I virus scanned the computer with Sophos, Avast, and iAntiVirus and it looks clean.

Is iAntiVirus the best virus protection to use for a MacBook?
The best anti-virus protection is your own common sense, and what you already bought and paid for with your Mac. Third party products such as "iAntiVirus" convey no additional benefit, and as you already determined are very capable of causing trouble.
OS X already includes everything it needs to protect itself from viruses and malware. Keep it that way with software updates from Apple.
A much better question is "how should I protect my Mac":
Never install any product that claims to "speed up", "clean up", "optimize", or "accelerate" your Mac. Without exception, they will do the opposite.
Never install pirated or "cracked" software, software obtained from dubious websites, or other questionable sources. Illegally obtained software is almost certain to contain malware.
Don’t supply your password in response to a popup window requesting it, unless you know what it is and the reason your credentials are required.
Don’t open email attachments from email addresses that you do not recognize, or click links contained in an email:
Most of these are scams that direct you to fraudulent sites that attempt to convince you to disclose personal information.
Such "phishing" attempts are the 21st century equivalent of a social exploit that has existed since the dawn of civilization. Don’t fall for it.
Apple will never ask you to reveal personal information in an email. If you receive an unexpected email from Apple saying your account will be closed unless you take immediate action, just ignore it. If your iTunes or App Store account becomes disabled for valid reasons, you will know when you try to buy something or log in to this support site, and are unable to.
Don’t install browser extensions unless you understand their purpose. Go to the Safari menu > Preferences > Extensions. If you see any extensions that you do not recognize or understand, simply click the Uninstall button and they will be gone.
Don’t install Java unless you are certain that you need it:
Java, a non-Apple product, is a potential vector for malware. If you are required to use Java, be mindful of that possibility.
Java can be disabled in System Preferences.
Despite its name JavaScript is unrelated to Java. No malware can infect your Mac through JavaScript. It’s OK to leave it enabled.
Block browser popups: Safari menu > Preferences > Security > and check "Block popup windows":
Popup windows are useful and required for some websites, but popups have devolved to become a common means to deliver targeted advertising that you probably do not want.
Popups themselves cannot infect your Mac, but many contain resource-hungry code that will slow down Internet browsing.
If you ever see a popup indicating it detected registry errors, that your Mac is infected with some ick, or that you won some prize, it is 100% fraudulent. Ignore it.
Ignore hyperventilating popular media outlets that thrive by promoting fear and discord with entertainment products arrogantly presented as "news". Learn what real threats actually exist and how to arm yourself against them:
The most serious threat to your data security is phishing. To date, most of these attempts have been pathetic and are easily recognized, but that is likely to change in the future as criminals become more clever.
OS X viruses do not exist, but intentionally malicious or poorly written code, created by either nefarious or inept individuals, is nothing new.
Never install something without first knowing what it is, what it does, how it works, and how to get rid of it when you don’t want it any more.
If you elect to use "anti-virus" software, familiarize yourself with its limitations and potential to cause adverse effects, and apply the principle immediately preceding this one.
Most such utilities will only slow down and destabilize your Mac while they look for viruses that do not exist, conveying no benefit whatsoever - other than to make you "feel good" about security, when you should actually be exercising sound judgment, derived from accurate knowledge, based on verifiable facts.
Do install updates from Apple as they become available. No one knows more about Macs and how to protect them than the company that builds them.
Summary: Use common sense and caution when you use your Mac, just like you would in any social context. There is no product, utility, or magic talisman that can protect you from all the evils of mankind.

I upgraded to the new version "4" and it will not load any websites..."unable to locate server" is all i get and cannot figure out the problem ....had to delete and go back to an earlier version which i understand is unsafe...what to do?

That was probably caused by your Firewall blocking the newly installed version of Firefox.
No known security issues with Firefox 3.6.17, which was just released this past week.

Firefox is not working now - it does not load any websites. Message on screen says:- "8e6 Mobile Client - internet browsing is not possible at this time. Error:80001001".
What I was doing before the problem:-

A possible cause is security software (firewall) that blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process.

Make sure that you regularly check if there are updates available for your plugins.<br />

  • Firefox will not load ANY websites

When I open Firefox and IE, neither one will load ANY website entered into address bar. However Google Chrome will. So I know that the Internet Connection is fine. Not sure what else to do.

If you aren't able to connect in Firefox, but can connect with other programs, the most common cause is a firewall. See [[Firewalls]] for instructions on configuring firewalls. (Make sure you configure all firewalls that are installed)
Another possibility is that you are in offline mode. Make sure "Work offline" in the File menu is ''unchecked''.
For other causes, see [[Error loading web sites]]

It should be: Click on Home Folder (the House) and to the right Library is shown, click on the arrow on the Library folder to reveal its contents and then click on Cookies to reveal its contents and then move the Cookies.plist to the Trash as Carolyn suggests.
