In iCal and Notifications on a notebook, is it possible to expand the notes window to make it easier to read and write notes? In the past, I have used Outlook calendar and tasks and I was able to expand the windows which allowed me to put a great amount of details into either the notes section in events and tasks. It would be great to be able to do this in iCal and Notifications as well. I am using a Macbook Pro with OS X 10.8. Thank you very much for assistance with this.

CS6 is not high-DPI compatible/ enabled and that can't be changed. If you cannot6 make it work with your operating system means, then short of joining Creative Cloud and using newer versions there is nothing you can do.

When I open iTunes, on my Macbook Pro, the application window is either blank, or sometimes reads the number of songs, time, and GB in small print. No columns of music.

I am, however, able to play recent songs, through the Controls menu, but still no data appears on the screen. I am running iTunes 11.0.4.

How do I expand the view of all day events in iCal?

I am unable to find an answer to this question any where. Is it possible to expand the area in iCal where all day events appear in the day and week views?

Did you ever get an answer on this? I can see everything in the DAY view but need to see the all day events in the week view. I have events that start on say the 15th and run to the 21st. I've started putting the end date in the location field but it was so much nicer when the all day even portion expanded to allow you to see all of them without having to scroll. Having to use the DAY view makes it really hard to schedule. Any chance this will change in the new version?

Modifying the notes on an outlook event I received in ical

My work sent out an outlook event to several attendee including myself. The event went into ical perfectly, no problem.
I was asked to go into the notes section of the event, add some additional words, and then update the changes so it will go out to all the attendees for the event.
I don't see how I can modify the notes at all in the pop up window that appears when I double click the event (I wish there was a larger dedicated window instead of the small pop by the way).
Is there a way to do what I have been asked to do?

I am sorry you're having trouble with sending emails when using public wifi. Let me help out! Are you having this issue when you're not using wifi? Do you know if the public wifi that you're using has any restrictions or limitations? Any error messages? Check with the folks who manager the public wifi to inquire about those areas.

How can i store a value in a register, to be called up later in the program. I must be able to read and write to it.

Im looking at a bearing reading and i only want it to do a case loop if the data has changed on the bearing, so i need a value of what it was a cycle ago to compare it with, how do i do this?

I'm not sure I,ve understood you clearly but it looks like you need to use "shift registers" in the loop.
Shift registers allow you to pass data from one iteration of the loop to another. For example in the situation when you need to know the value of some variable on previous iteration or on pre-previous etc.
To create shift registers on the loop you have to right click on the border of the loop and select "Add shift register" from pop up menu. Two arrows will appear on the left and right sides of the loop. To write data to the shift register you have to wire them to the right arrow, and to read data you have to read it from the left arrow. When you read data from shift register you read the value from the previous iteration. When you write data - you wri
te the curent value there. If you want to read preprevious data you have to click on the left side of shift register and select "Add Element". The new element (arrow) will appear which corresponds to preprevious value. And so on. To initialize shift registers before execution of the loop you have to wire the some data from the outside.
Another solution of your problem is using of local variables. You can create them from pop up menu of each control or indicator on the diagram. You can set them as read or write local.

Is there a way to expand the editing bubble in iCal 3?

I can't figure out how to expand the size of the notes field in the iCal 3.0.3 editing bubble. Is it possible to expand it? You can expand the size of a text area in Safari, but you can't expand the notes field in iCal?!!! Even more frustrating is that when you add more text than can be viewed at once in the notes field, it doesn't scroll to the next line so you can see what you're typing -- you have to scroll manually after each line is entered. What's up with that?!!! I haven't upgraded to 10.5.4 yet -- does that fix any of this?
I'm very, very frustrated with iCal in Leopard. I want the drawer back -- or at least some more reasonable way of editing events.

I'm working on a 30" monitor, so it's effectively 2560x1600. It only seems to be showing 2 tracks at a time, unless there is a preference or setting I'm missing that I can't seem to find in the documentation. Here is a screenshot:
I don't see any areas for expanding the timeline. I can scroll vertically in the timeline, but I can't seem to actually get a larger static vertical area for showing more tracks at once. The only vertical resizing widget is to expand the bottom or top panels, not the timeline.

Captions of photos in Yahoo cover the bottom part of pic. Makes it hard to read text and also can't see whole photo. Tried reset Firefox but that didn't work.

When going through photo galleries on Yahoo (in news, omg, etc.) the caption is displayed on top of the bottom 'fifth' of the photo. (The caption should be below the entire photo.) The way the pations are overlayed makes it difficult to read the text of the caption and worse, it makes it almost impossible to see the lower fifth of the photo. I tried resetting Firefox but that didn't change anything. I can't find any yahoo settings or OS X display setting that changed this. I'm using Firefox 25 on a macbook air running OS X 10. Are there any firefox settings that would improve this? Thanks.

You can also try to reset the page zoom on pages that cause problems.

If you have made changes to Advanced font settings like increasing the minimum/default font size then try the default minimum setting "none" and the default font size 16 in case the current setting is causing problems.
*Firefox > Preferences > Content : Fonts & Colors > Advanced > Minimum Font Size (none)
Make sure that you allow pages to choose their own fonts.
*Firefox > Preferences > Content : Fonts & Colors > Advanced: [X] "Allow pages to choose their own fonts, instead of my selections above"

On a MacBook Air is it possible to transfer the photos shown on Faces to my Contact cards and thus to my iPhone5?

I'm new at this so please bear with me. I had photos on each of my contacts at one time but have no idea how I got them there. I would like to move the little square photos from Faces to my Contact cards but cannot seem to figure out how to do it. There are icons for moving photos to almost anywhere but Contacts. I always try dragging first because that was once the answer to every problem but so far it hasn't worked. I also wanted to know if there is a setting to have the iPhone show the photo of the person calling so I know who it is without my readers on. Yes, you got it..........I am aged and perhaps a little slow with this stuff but I'm still trying'!

I am able to drag photos from iPhoto to Contacts on my MacBook Air. I resize the iPhoto window to make it smaller, open Contacts, select the Contact in question and click the Edit button at the lower right of the contact. I then drag the photo from iPhoto.
The step that I'm guessing that you might be missing is clicking the Edit button at the lower right of the contact.

MAS and Attempted to read or write protected memory.

I'm experiencing an unusual system error using Mobile Application Studio enviroment (CRM Release 2007 / 5.0 SP 09). As soon as I run the MAS, open a Change List and say edit a tile, tileset etc... the application crashes and the system displays a dialog box with the error message:
"Attempted to read or write protected memory. This is often an indication that other memory is corrupt".
How can i resolve this issue in our mobile application studio?

The mentioned error is generic and could be because of several reasons.
If you try to edit any BOL Object designers or Code windows from MAS Startup Page/Find Results window throws an error u201CAttempted to Read or write protected memory. This is often an indication that other memory is corrupt", So it is always recommended to expand the Business Library node manually after opening the MAS and continue with other Modeling/Development tasks.
But if you are not modifying or editing any of the BOL objects, then it must be becuase of some other reason. In such case, can you please provide more detailed steps for the crash to occur.

Multithreaded problem in read and write thread

This is a producer consumer problem in a multi-threaded environment.
Assume that i have multiple consumer (Multiple read threads) and a
single producer(write thread).
I have a common data structure (say an int variable), being read and written into.
The write to the data sturcture happens occasionally (say at every 2 secs) but read happens contineously.
Since the read operation is contineous and done by multiple threads, making the read method synchronized will add
overhead(i.e read operation by one thread should not block the other read threads). But when ever write happens by
the write thread, that time the read operations should not be allowed.
Any ideas how to achive this ??

If all you're doing is reading an int, then just use regular Java synchronization. You'll actually get a performance hit if you're doing simple read operations, as stated in the ReadWriteLock documentation:
Whether or not a read-write lock will improve performance over the use of a mutual exclusion lock depends on the frequency that the data is read compared to being modified, the duration of the read and write operations, and the contention for the data - that is, the number of threads that will try to read or write the data at the same time. For example, a collection that is initially populated with data and thereafter infrequently modified, while being frequently searched (such as a directory of some kind) is an ideal candidate for the use of a read-write lock. However, if updates become frequent then the data spends most of its time being exclusively locked and there is little, if any increase in concurrency. Further, if the read operations are too short the overhead of the read-write lock implementation (which is inherently more complex than a mutual exclusion lock) can dominate the execution cost, particularly as many read-write lock implementations still serialize all threads through a small section of code. Ultimately, only profiling and measurement will establish whether the use of a read-write lock is suitable for your application.

First, uninstall "SuperTV" (whatever that is) according to the developer's instructions. It isn't working and it's filling the log with noise.
If you have more than one user account, these instructions must be carried out as an administrator.
Launch the Console application.
Step 1
Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left.
Enter "BOOT_TIME" (without the quotes) in the search box. Note the timestamps of those log messages, which refer to the times when the system was booted. Now clear the search box and scroll back in the log to the last boot time when you had the problem. Post the messages logged before the boot, while the system was unresponsive or was failing to shut down. Please include the BOOT_TIME message at the end of the log extract.
Post the log text, please, not a screenshot. If there are runs of repeated messages, post only one example of each. Don’t post many repetitions of the same message. When posting a log extract, be selective. In most cases, a few dozen lines are more than enough.
PLEASE DO NOT INDISCRIMINATELY DUMP THOUSANDS OF LINES FROM THE LOG INTO A MESSAGE. If you do that, I will not respond.
Important: Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Edit it out by search-and-replace in a text editor before posting.

Still in Console, look under System Diagnostic Reports for crash or panic logs, and post the most recent one, if any. In the interest of privacy, I suggest you edit out the “Anonymous UUID,” a long string of letters, numbers, and dashes in the header of the report, if present (it may not be.) Please don’t post shutdownStall, spin, or hang logs — they're very long and not helpful.

Switching to different alarm sounds in ical for notifications

Dear Reader,
Can someone help me with this! I use iCal in iPhone for al sorts of things, and like to have a choice in selecting a alarm-sound for different occasions
( wake-up, lunch, birthday, appointments, etc. )
Adding different sounds to different notifications will make it easier ( and more fun ) for the ear to distinguish the priority.
