In iphoto i get this error for a video that I wanted to play - The operation couldn't be completed. (OSStatus error -54.) what is that error and how to fix it?

The operation couldn’t be completed. (OSStatus error -54.)
My Apple course instructor felt it would be smart to create all in iphoto dragging in all videos and photos to one spot.
I now get these errors and they wont play.
What is the error telling me and how do I fix it and get the video to play please??
Is it true iphoto will be replaced in this New Year and if so does anyo

No it didn't at all.
I went to the finder and saw several of the same .
When I called Apple they told me not to delete anything using the Finder… odd I thought, as that was the only way I could see the multiple videos and photos.
Do you think there is any harm in deleting from there directly if I have a good playable copy?
Thank you both for responses.
The clips/videos some are from iPhone 4.
I opened it manually and found 4 copies of most of the same videos, same names, some with slight variations. Don't know why.
Some are titled from iphoto /Masters    don't know why that happened
Now I also have some clips with white dotted line on grey where the clip used to be? why would that occur??
In my finder there are now 97000 images. Yet I only have 22,000 in iphoto. Where are the rest located and why so many duplicates?
Have I checked a box somewhere and need to address that?
Thank you for any insight and guidance.

  • The operation couldn't be completed, OSStatus error -1

After leaving the Aperture app open for a day I get the above mentioned dialog box message and I need to force quit it. Once I started clicking on "OK" and it took 98 clicks to get the dialog boxes to finally disapear. Usually I don't have that much time. Internet works fine and Facebook works fine. Aperture version 3.4.3
    What's going on?

The OSStatus error -1 may indicate a network problem, even if your internet is working fine now. You may see these alert boxes, if Aperture cannot connect to Flickr or Facebook, when it awakes from sleep.
I'd disable the option "automatically check for newly published albums" in the "Web" preferences of Aperture.
This will prevent Aperture from trying to connect to Facebook, each time it wakes up.

    Hi there!
Yes, same problem too; I've already sent an email to apple support and just received a very vague and unpractical response with "call apple support in your country" as main advice. I've obviously emailed back stating that I need a clearer response and I don not have any intention to spend money calling for support when updates is a free tool. I do also believe this is a probem generated on Apple's end, I just wish they learned to say "sorry, it's us;  working on it!"

The operation couldn’t be completed. (NSURLErrorDomain error -1100.)

There are many people suffering from this problem right now (including me). It appears to be a server issue. Just wait and try checking for updates again tomorrow.
Some things I have heard indicate that this may be a regional problem, though what parts of the world are affected I don't know yet. A few people have been helped by deleting the following preference file (paste the path into the Go -> Go to Folder window in the Finder to locate it), though most have not:
    ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.SoftwareUpdate.plist
Note that if you are trying to download iTunes 10.7, that can be found here:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1576
Also, note that there is no reason to be anxious to get it, as the only thing added in iTunes 10.7 is compatibility with iOS 6, which will not be available until the 19th, and the new iPhone, which will not be available until later as well. The new iTunes that was announced is iTunes 11, which is also not yet available.

Does anyone know how to resolve this problem?  I get "The operation couldn’t be completed. (NSURLErrorDomain error -1100.)" when trying to check for softward updates on my iMac.  I have the latest version of Mountain Lion installed.

Apparently a server overload > NSURLErrorDomain error -1100
    Try again later.

    Hello,
I believe the issue was the external HD I purchased was not formatted for Mac . . . once I took care of that - all went well!  The slide show transferred and the surprise 70th birthday party was a huge sucess.  Thank you everyone!

The SSL certificate for swscan.apple.com has expired. You need to wait for Apple to get it renewed.

It appears Apple’s download servers are ‘overwhelmed’ today.  I couldn’t download the newest iTunes update or IOS 7 and there are a lot of discussions today about not being able to download. One poster said they had chatted with App Store support who confirmed the problem.
What updates? Here is a link for iTunes which worked for me.

This is when trying to use the latest software update on my 10.8.2 Lion.
I want to update the latest Safari 6.0.2 and iPhoto 9.4.2 only......NOT Java.

Same error here.  The Safari 6.0.2 update is not in Apple's download section.  The notification may have gone out before the update was put on their servers, thus causing the download error.
